    Liverpool’s “Banter Era” & Their Most CONFUSING Signings | Konchesky, Poulsen & More
    Before the Jurgen Klopp revolution at Liveprool, the storied club went through a few hard years with various managers such as Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and Brendan Rodgers. Even Rafa Benitez’s final season at Liverpool was nothing to be proud of. We’ll look at some of Liverpool’s “Banter Era” signings such as Ousama Assaidi, Christian Poulsen, Andy Carroll (the most expensive Englishman at the time), Paul Konchesky, Charlie Adam and more!

    • @jamesw3546
      @jamesw3546 4 года назад +29

      I've heard this before from Partizan fans. I think he was mis-managed to an extent at Liverpool - not being played often enough and in his preferred position. He came into a Liverpool side in transition and after having lost Suarez so it was always going to be tough for him. Rogers seemed to give up on him quickly and no manager since (At Liverpool or his managers on loan) has been able to get a tune out of him.
      Overall, his performances on the pitch were disappointing but he did show glimpses of real quality and vision. I think attitude issues may have been a problem for him. Rather than get his head down and work hard he seemed to go into a bit of a sulk. Didn't seem to have the attitude necessary to succeed at the top level. Shame.

    What, apart from him playing 44 times the very next season, then playing every single game in 2013-14 until he got sent off, at which point we collapsed against Chelsea and Palace without him? Guess who was missing when we completely collapsed against Sevilla in the Europa League final?
    He's made us tick ever since he arrived, but because he's a midfielder who isn't putting up huge goals/assist tallies people think he's not special. Absolutely does my head in that our own fans still don't realise how important he's been for so long. This season alone, he's in the top 5 midfielders for big chances created, but he's the only one in the top 30 or so to also have 50+ tackles and an 80%+ pass accuracy.

  • @Eae616

    Andy's story is pretty tragic if you think about it, but to be honest, Lazar's story is far more tragic. I think this might be the same or at least very similiar case as the one of Bojan Krkic's.
    Bojan said himself that he was depressed because of all the pressure, all the eyes on him and there was noone for him when he was still at Barca and even later. Dude had incredible talent, phenomenal skills, but wouldnt really use them. Now we have a guy approaching his 30s soon and a sad story behind him.
    I believe that Lazar had lots of pressure on his head, most likely his english wasn't that well, there was noone that he could trust or talk with in Liverpool, especially the manager (Brendan Rodgers) who had his own personal problems (I believe that's the reason he didn't win the PL with LFC). Additionally look at the positions that Rodgers played Lazar in, Lazar was a RW/RF/CF and Brendan would start him in the LB/LWB role or RM at best. I bet Markovic must have felt alone as hell and all these loans only fed the demons inside of him. I'm glad he's back to his home country, that's the thing he needed in his life most likely, to get back on the feet, but all these lost years, all these memories that he will now have. Sadly, we might never see Lazar again in the spotlight and that's fuckin' tragic.
    I really liked Lazar and I actually tend to actively check how his career is going, dude had lightning pace, I'd say even faster than Sterling, great shooting & passing ability, his dribbling was also on such a high level and it felt like he knew what he's doing on the pitch, he had the IQ needed to understand tactics, the game... but most likely lack of confidence, depression, being alone and having noone to talk about all that shit, well... most likely we lost a star in the making that could possibly play as RW instead of Salah right now.
    I don't know whether I'm right or wrong, I don't know Lazar, there was always lack of information about him, but that's what it always looked like.
    Hopefully the lad feels well now in Serbia and will play some great football there.

    I've always rated Carroll very highly. Hard to think of many better players in the air, and with a sweet left foot to boot. I think if he had stayed fit his whole career, he could have continued to improve and maybe even topped out at the level of Dzeko or Mandzukic, i.e. an elite but not quite world-class striker. A shame his career has been so curtailed by injuries.
