How much did you get for your Mini2? I'm thinking of doing the same but only so I can pick up the Mini3. I think your gonna be surprised to find that your gonna find more geo fencing limitations with Autel then you experienced with DJI. Its been about 2 years since I've encountered a "no launch" situation with my DJI drones. I've even flown in a Navy bomb range that was marked as a highly restricted/no fly zone but once I applied for the unlock it came back as an unresricted airspace and I was able to fly above 500 ft with no warnings or any other limitations. I've had half a dozen "no launch" scenarios with my Autel drone in the same timeframe and could not take off at the same bombing range that I flew my Mini2 with no issues. Not all the Autel no launch were related to geo fencing but still a no launch when I wanted or needed to be in the air and didn't get up. Autel drones won't take off in cold climates until the battery is warmed up. I have an old Autel X-star premium. It's a superior camera system to DJI that's for sure. I think it always has been and continues to be so. Anyway...how much were you able to get for your Mini2, what platform did you sell it on and how did you transfer the liability for it or does it remain in your name with a new owner? There is NO WAY the image quality on the Mini 3 will be better or even equal to that of the Nano+! In order for that to happen, the Mini 3’s camera would have to be better than the Mavic 3. I have both as well as a Mini 2 and the Nano+ beats both! I only use the Mavic 3 now for flights in Level 5 & 6 winds. Too bad Autel’s support sucks; that’s my only complaint.
I'm waiting for the mini 3 actual release and test flights before deciding. I was going to go for the Air2s. But just holding out incase the mini 3 does a superb job with its extras.
Guys, not to ruin everyone's party as I see all well-known drone RUclipsrs are posting this picture / video of a fake Mini 3 with a side-mounted, portrait capable gimbal... BUT... I do not believe this is a DJI Mini 3. There is 1 simple reason for this - a side mounted gimbal will mess up both the weight distribution and the aerodynamics of the drone. Now the weight distribution issue could be 99% resolved with a mass balance in the side opposite to the gimbal mount but the aerodynamics would remain an issue. I don't believe a company like DJI will make such a basic engineering fault as this. People are saying the portrait / vertical mode is a useful feature because of the trend towards portrait oriented imagery in our mobile-first society (especially useful for Tik Tok, Instagram etc. users) but the solution to this would simply be a mode in the software where the view is pre-cropped on the screen so that you can correctly frame your vertical image. The image can then be stored in the library already cropped for you - ready to post on social media. Before you tell me that you are losing valuable pixels with the crop - remember the basic premise for this argument in the first place - that the side mounted gimbal is for mobile users needing vertical imagery... But mobile users don't need all the pixels so I can't believe that DJI would compromise their entire best-selling category to give mobile-first users the extra pixels they don't need. Besides this major design flaw, what I'm also seeing in the video of this fake Mini 3 is that the side opposite to the gimbal mount is cracked or poorly assembled and also note the people walking in the background and the other cheap looking electronics on the table below - this is a street vendor selling electronic goods. Don't you think if there was any possibility that this was truly a Mini 3 that someone walking passed his stall would have taken more photos of it or better yet, tried to get their hands on it? I'm not saying the Mini 3 won't look something like this and I'm not disputing any of the discussions around options, pricing or release date - I'm simply saying that this is not a beta or pre-release version of the Mini 3 as it is highly unlikely that it will have a side mounted gimbal.
Bigger sensor means better video quuality. Now that all the specs have come out it's clear that the Mini 3 Pro trumps the Autel Nano Plus. Plus that true vertical shooting mode is a game changer.
Thank you Brett for your wonderful video.. what do you think about DJI making this new MINI 3 compatible with the MOTION CONTROLLER as an extra not expensive and differentiating feature?
Thank you! That’s always a possibility but I have a feeling they’re gonna keep the motion controller just for DJI‘s FPV lineup. I do expect the inspire 3 and smaller FPV drone from DJI this year.
There is no way the Mini 3 will have better image quality. Remember that the Nano + has RYYB filters that allows 40% more light. And the lens quality play a huge rule here.
I'm Pretty sure they know what the Nano can do,, and like always,,, have something to out do it,,, or better...
