I have a Saiga 12, a Vepr 12, and this JTS. Ive run about 1000 rounds through the JTS and it runs perfectly on Walmart Birdshot. Granted the quality is not as good as the Saiga or Vepr but its a solid shotgun for $350 bucks - Just make sure you use the correct gas settings and you're golden
@@kindsteel5 the Vepr is way better than Saiga. It's a little more reliable, has closed sight and can be loaded without holding a bolt with your hand. But the original Russian Saiga is a pure gold in comparison with the Chinese one.
Just bought a JTS AK-12; I oiled the slide, cycled it manually about 50 times. Then I set the gas block on “3” and fired 60 BAT slugs without a single misfire, jam or FTF. Can’t speak for the experience of others, but I really like mine so far. It may have problems with low brass or light loads; I intend to shoot a couple more boxes of hot loads before I step down and test out some birdshot.
I took mine down to check everything, turned it to 3 and it sent shells 15 feet up with no issues, I like AK guy but like everyone he is not always right.
@@Arthiem You know what's funny, I bought a VR80, kind of just for a shits and giggles semi auto knock around shotgun and I couldn't believe how well it actually stood up to abuse and how well it shot. I really didn't get it for anything serious, more of just a fun gun and I was quite surprised by it. Some things could of been better but for what I paid, I think 550, it was really decent and it didn't even need a break in even though it was new. But I'm thinking about getting a Lynx, they have so many "Saiga" style auto shotguns now, but I don't want to get stuck with a lunker.
@@Arthiem I recently bought my jts m12ak for $350. If it can fire a ton of rounds I'm not complaining. Mosins cost more than that right now, same for an sks and well they're alright but definitely overpriced right now.
The JTS M12 AK requires 50-100 rounds for break in. It was a pain but once I got to 70 rounds the issues demonstrated in your video completely disappeared. The owners manual even mentions this break in period. I’ve put several hundred rounds through it and have not had a single issue.
I took mine apart and cleaned/oiled it really well before even firing a single round. Used some budget 1300 fps shells and never had issues. Even during the break in period
@@MiGujack3 well, it costs about 1/3rd as much so 70 rounds isn't that bad. It works absolutely fine for a range toy, or even something you could use to hunt if you really wanted to. Nobody expects a 250$ semi automatic shotgun to be sufficient for home defense lmao
Strangest thing for me. Right out of the box with zero problems. Accurate and never jammed. Almost no recoil either. Ive watched video after video about how garbage this gun is yet mine runs completely fine. Its like ive got an entirely different gun.
@@jibb1451 The only ammunition used in video games is bootleg Rhodesian jungle with most of the shot missing. GTA5 has a more realistic shotgun effective range than I'm used to.
Why would they zero them for 5 yards at the factory. Don't you understand that if you zero a gun for 50 yards it isn't going to hit the same point of aim at 5 yards?
@latex glove Nah, I just played GTA5 for so long that it immediately comes to mind now, specifically when I think of shotguns. It was refreshing, having a shotgun that didn't spray most of the shot in a perfect cone around the target. But, yeah; it lost it's charm the second time it was remastered.

Hey Brandon, I’ve commented on a few videos trying to reach you. My family home burned down and we lost some guns. The only parts we recovered were AK parts. Could you rehab them and rebuild an AK with them?
Never had an issue with mine......adjust the gas for the intended rounds, after the recommended 25 mag load/high brass break in period. It's by far not to the standards one would expect from a Saiga.....but it's a $400 shotgun, what do you expect.
@@SG-ds8pr That's pretty much what I just said.... that it works 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ I followed what was suggested in the owners manual and I have zero issues. I'm sure they have had some lemons (everyone does) but I'm sure just as many have failed to follow directions....and then complained about an issue they created. Ran into that with Tristar Semi's as well, follow the break in and adjustment recommendations and it ran flawlessly.....don't and you have a rather expensive door stop.
I seen other countless other vids on JTS M12AK seems to be a good shotgun, bought one myself ran hundreds of rounds FLAWLESS. Maybe you got a lemon or maybe you didn't set your gas tube to 3 when shooting light loads. Either way my shit runs 100% FLAWLESS. $399 I can dig it
I watched another utube video where the guy cleaned out all the cosmoline in the gas tube and properly re lubricuted the chamber. Seemed to stop the jam
Never seen this style run reliably without having to be tuned to a specific load. That goes for 30/40 3 Gun matches across several counties and all kinds of money being spent on these things. I can load my 930 with anything and it runs no matter what. No tuning no nothing. It just works like a shotgun should.
Same with my 870 but my 1100 hates paper shells. Between both I prefer my 870 just for the feel and looks, like with the 1100 it feels like I’m holding a broom, very stiff feeling. The 870 is one of my favorite guns but one that’s shot the least sadly.
Gonna go full boomer here and say that magazine-fed shotguns are just a bad idea in general. Tube magazine shotguns have worked as a reliable and agile platform for over a century now, and running almost anything rimmed that isn't .22LR out of a mag is just asking for double-feeds and rimlock. Game won't need 10 shells, and armed intruders might need more. Just run a +1 extended tube and side saddle and git gud with tac reloading, or get an actual rifle in an intermediate caliber with a standard capacity detachable magazine. Mating the two is just the worst of both worlds in my opinion.
First, it's not a Saiga clone, but Vepr. Second, I have one and shot over 200 00 Buck and over 200 bird shots with not a single problem. Maybe you got a lemon or maybe it's ammo-related issues. Mine function flawlessly, as long as I properly adjust gas settings for different shot types. I love it too.
Reading through some of the other comments and now this one, I think Bran just got a dud Saiga. So much vocal support for this gun despite it's budget build, which says to me either Bran has a broken gun there; or he's loaded it incorrectly (which seems very unlikely). But it's great to see that most people are happy with it, at the end of the day - if you need a gun you want it to work when it's tasked. It might be missing a birdshot, it might be saving a life. Whatever the scenario you don't want awkward chamber rubix cubes to contend with! So happy to see 90% of people not seeing these issues. Someone should take their working one up to him, and revisit it on another video !
@@DailyCorvid I've seen other people talking about having the same issues, and the root cause being excessive amounts of cosmoline gumming up the works. Cleaning it out and using actual lubricant is the usual fix.
“Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes through people. Shotguns, the right load at the right range will physically remove a chunk from your opponent and throw it on the floor behind him, and you will have to get someone to come clean it up with a shovel.”
Now we need to see you review the Vepr-12. That thing is like the luxury version of the AK shotguns. No need to adjust gas ports, Krinkov style dust cover on a hinge, bolt hold open, a very solid folding stock, rpk style adjustable sights for slugs, and it's actually made in Russia.
It’s a luxury when compared to the Saiga 12’s that got imported into the states. The saiga’s all had hunting stocks and no pistol grips. People had to do conversions on them to move the trigger and accept normal AK furniture. Meanwhile the Vepr 12 already is set up without and conversion work out of the box plus it’s built on a beefier RPK receiver. So compared to the state of imported saiga 12s I’d say the Vepr is the luxury model ak shotgun.
I have it and it always jammed. It took a lot of filing and polishing of the bolt and carrier to get it to cycle well. There is another part of the shotgun where the shell ejects that needs to be be filed. There are other videos showing the locations that need modifications. My JTS now cycles both 5 and 10 round mags without a problem
I own the T-1 model of this semi auto and it’s been plenty reliable. Everyone else on YT has made sure to mention to break it in with high brass and over 1300fps rounds. That may explain the feed and cycle issues. Mine was a little tight first few cycles.
I worked with my T-1 and smoothed out everything, worked the action a couple thousand times(as I knew I would have to) and it shoots everything except “ultra light” loads. As for not hitting anything? Guess he can’t shoot????
I mean he’s clearly using standard 00 buck which aren’t high brass and probably somewhere around 1200fps. Anything is going to not cycle if it’s factory new and using ammo that isn’t going to put out the force necessary to cycle it.
@@the1knifepro169 yeah, but this one does and it’s not only well known but mentioned in the literature you receive with the gun. There’s a difference between a genuine malfunction and not reading the directions.
I just bought this gun yesterday. I cleaned and oiled it first and then went shooting and didnt have one single issue. I ran close to 50 shells through it and not a single jam or failure to eject. Most important thing is having your gas setting adjusted right.
I have the jts mk 12, it was the 1st shotgun I brought. I have probably 2000 round though it and only 2 failers.. I feel like everything in this video was done to make this gun look bad.
was my first gun as well, has a break in period but after that runs pretty well, never fails with good quality slugs, never shot buckshot but birdshot is iffy
I know the OG JTS M1AK OR M12AK Whatever. The key is to 100% disassemble,CLEAN, & LUBRICATE THE CRAP OUT OF THAT Chinese tool. Soak it in oil. Use only high brass, high pressure ammo & learn how to use the gas port/ regulator! IT HAS TO BE CLEAN & WELL LUBRICATED! I have seen them run flawlessly as long as you know to clean it, LUBRICATE IT, & USE HIGH BRASS, HIGH PRESSURE AMMO! If you have not used a asp ton of lube, it can rust. Click the crap out of it!
His presentation to me honestly seems like they did everything right in development but then cut cut corners in manufacturing. Seems like this could be an actually nice firearm if you were to replace some crucial parts, so it's up for discussion whether that shotgun plus an upgrade parts kit would be cheaper than a Saiga or equivalent.
@@LeBoomStudios here in North of Ireland it's hard to get anything like this without police acception so I wudnt even care if it didn't work half the time just to have sumthin like that lol
I unfortunately know exactly where that song originated from and it's from a channel called "shittyflute". You asked for this. ruclips.net/video/vtHsqAjoXXY/видео.html Now please don't buy the shotgun.
Surprising everyone, brandon later shoots 50 bmg in it without any mods to the weapon and it cycled a low and mid pressure 50 bmg and all the cast parts held up fine. Despite the rough hewn form it holds together. And at an amazing price
I have a few mag-fed semi autos and they are all fun, but I have a hard time recommending any expensive or cheap for reliable use. A 100% reliable semi auto 12ga is already hard enough, when you add in the not-so-feed-friendly geometry of 12ga shell, with squishy plastic as opposed to solid brass into a magazine, you make it even harder. This is why most militaries which still use shotguns at all either use a bomb-proof semi with a tube (like the Benellis) or a simple pump shotgun with a tube mag.
I would like to point out that these cheaper shotguns really just need a full disassembly and oiling before shooting the first time. Also needs a break in period of 70 to 100 rounds.
Ahhhh, The moment at 12:06 really gave me a chuckle. His reaction to it is the same as everyone who can't shoot for shit at a public range, but the moment they go to a private one by themselves it's just bullseyes all day.
Could that third rivet actually be a support rivet for the receiver? Basically a bar to keep the receiver squeezed together and prevent it from bowing out.
I have the newer version; JTS ak12t1. I've never had a problem with it? And I've ran over 500 rounds through it. The gun does need a 200 round break in Period
My friend learned that just as good isn't always the case while I built his first ar. He kept saying he didn't care how cheap it was as long as it went bang. He's now doubled the cost he originally spent by upgrading those "just as good" parts
@@royaldana1655 he didn't want to buy another lower and restart. It was mostly furniture that he replaced and the scope. Originally he had some $100 monstrum but upgraded to a vortex strike eagle 2
@@Dominus4776 if he mostly just replaced the furniture and the scope then he didn't necessarily improve the justasgood parts. He just made the weapon more user-friendly. The way you say it you imply he made no meaningful improvements other than optics and a handguard, maybe a stock and new grips which i would hesitate to say "improve" the base parts in any way. EDIT: I would also like to add that a good rule of thumb is to spend twice the amount of money you spent on your firearm on your optic, and I would hesitate to call an optic an integral part to the firearm.
@@mmmmmmcookiesaregood his whole thing was that if it shoots its just as good. I wouldn't say a moe stock or grip has some huge performance bonus, but comfort and ergonomics can make you a better shot
I've had my JTS for almost 2 years and put about 500+ rounds of mostly 00 buck and slug. I have to say that I did some modification to the gun as I tried to improve the gas system with some polishing and deburring of the puck etc. Also, I've replace the forend with a heavily modified Magpul Zhukov and the Ace adapter plate that was once available for the gun. Used a Tom Cole conversion choke tube to thread on a Saiga compatible brake and it shoots great. I am keeping an eye on the bolt for wear, but so far so good. Also I highly recommend CSSPECs mags that they make for this. Steel, feeds well and most importantly, securely locks into the gun.
WHAT?! My JTS-12 is amazing dude! One of the best semi automatic shotguns I’ve ever owned. My next one I want is a BM4 but the Saiga/ JTS-12 is amazing. I never had the shell stuck in the receiver like that before. My KSG-12 was amazing too. Guns like this just have to be broken in. Kinda like a new car.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. “Modify the internals and make it function the way it supposed to.” You could even make a how to video for everyone who also made the mistake and purchased one.
I have this same shotgun and its runs completely fine with any load 2-1/2” Low Brass Bird Shot too 2-1/2” - 3” Buckshot & Slugs. It has a completely adjustable gas system and as long as you adjust it to the ammo your using and keep it well oiled it will run every time!!! Worth every dollar. They are on sale rn at Palmetto State Armory for $279.00 you cant beat that deal at all.
Honestly as an owner of this exact shotgun, I haven’t had many issues with it. Few malfunctions upon those break in rounds but after about 150 rounds, no issues since
i bought one as well and it runs great havent had any issues at all over last two years! ive put atleast 3k rounds through it and love it for the price.
Same, I read lots of things saying they needed a break in of 100-200 rounds. I’ve probably put 150 though it so far, and have literally never had a single issue. Maybe it’s just been luck or maybe I got one of few good ones. I personally love it. Check out Mod Max on RUclips if you ever want to modify it.
I have the exact same shotgun and I haven't had many issues either. I would buy a real Saiga 12 or the real variants but I live in MD and with covid stuff that is hard to find. I still need to shoot more bird shot load but other then that it works great 👍
You'd probably hate my dad's Saiga. It's an actual Saiga with one of those dumb AR style lowers that requires "modified" polymer Saiga mags and runs like shit because "modified" is code for molested by a monkey with a Dremel. It runs unbelievably unreliably as a result. It makes me sad.
The only Dremel accessory to ever touch my Saigas was the cutter bit used to open the ejector pathway on one of the bolts. Otherwise everything was lovingly caressed by Arkansas stones in oil. And that's why they handle 2 3/4 dram without a hitch!
@@2fathomsdeeper I've never owned a siaga 12, but I do own a saiga .223 that I converted myself. It's hard to think that I unmolested an AK with a dremel lol
I wonder if Brandon adjusted the gas block to accommodate for the light shotgun loads? Everyone I know that has one says it eats everything they feed it. He should give it a fair shake again.
For some reason every time I hear Brandon say "and as always" I expect to hear "have nice day" and his actual sign off catches me off guard without fail
Hey Brandon, just thought I’d let you know that some of the semi auto shotguns need to have 100-150 hi-brass shells run through them to properly break in the cycling before you can use low-brass shells. Idk if you already did this but this could help some of your feeding problems. Guys upvote this so he can see it!
Most manufacturers of magazine fed semi-auto shotguns recommend breaking them in with high brass / high velocity shells (minimum 100 rds). No mention of this in the video. Just negativity and foul language???
@@weaverbailbonds1593 I just assumed he did all that, this isn't some random boy scout you know! I think he's comparing this gun to a regular AK, and is disappointed that it is so much worse in practical use. Now you could say, well 12 gauge shotguns handle differently but it shouldn't be that inaccurate from 5 metres out using buck.
I've had mine for longer and never had anything but problems with it. Might just vary from gun to gun but mine was so bad I just gave up on it. Put it in storage and haven't wanted to mess with it for a while now.
Same, I think Brandon may have just gotten a bad one cause I’ve had a JTS M12AK for a little under a year and never had any problems with it despite putting hundreds of rounds through it, it’s one of my favorite guns in my collection
I also have an JTSAK 12 but mine doesn’t malfunction nearly as much as his. Maybe the gun itself isn’t what’s broken but Quality Control at the factory that produces them.
ya same here, i have about 250 rounds through mine, maybe had 2 ftf and thats about it.... the mag is a pain in the ass tho. maybe we just got lucky on our guns?
Mine as well. But I went through it with very fine wet sandpaper. Using oil I hit all the areas were the bolt rails are and pulled out the piston and worked the inside a bit. So after I manually broke it in, this thing runs like a scalded dog. Not one issue.
I concur I have never had an issue out of my jts I even cut the mag well off and Brandon has no idea what he's talking about about the locking lugs it doesn't have a rear locking lug for the magazine it uses the mag release for the locking lug that is attached to the magazine well
I bought one a year ago. I absolutely love it! Took some break in to get it to work reliably but last weekend took it to the range and shot some clays and it did great. No malfunctions.
I think its just luck of the draw like most cheap imports. Whisper Tactical has put 5k rounds through his so far with good results. Sucks to get a lemon though. Been thinking about getting one since theyre so cheap, at $400 i think its worth the chance.
Odd. The one I picked up about a year and a half ago has been great. Only have a few hundred rnds through it but hasn't missed a beat. For a cheapie it's great but yes it's no veper or saiga. Not sure what they are going for now but I only payed 350$ for mind
I own one too and it runs flawlessly. Brandon litterly just picked the cheapest AK on the market to talk shit aobut. Its clear in this "review" that he did not review shit. He bought the gun wanting to make a shit talking video. He never adjusted the gas system either. I put a drum on mine and it will dump 13 rounds flawlessly on target no problem in seconds. This review is straight up BS.
@@terralore720 There a problem with that though he talked about adjusting gas for A and B which is that because it was made in China it probably has not the best quality control even the Russian saiga 12 that had a problem with gas ports being made wrong so the firearm had quite a few defect batches
It is hard to believe I kicked myself over impulse buying a VEPR-12 years ago, thinking it was a novelty. Once Molot got sanctioned, it turned out to be very fortuitous. Thankfully I've kept it. The fact this thing has a superfluous 3rd pin makes me want to get one, solely to troll busy-body hall monitor types at the range and get them all bent out of shape.
Need to clean the shipping grease off of the gas piston and gas tube, if you don't then after a few shots the grease bakes onto the piston causing the piston to drag and stick.
"That's not a gun, that's a paperweight." No, it is a gun... technically Also, Swype trying to write 'gun' as 'fun' constantly has me going, "I like your spirit, but no."
Mine runs smooth as butter with cheap birdshot from Walmart. First 100 shells were cheap high brass loads and they jammed about once every mag for the first 50, but smoothed up after that and stopped jamming completely after 70 rounds. Haven’t had an issue since and I love it! Yours either wasn’t broken in properly, or you were effected by the wonderful thing known as “lackluster qc”
I bought that shotgun awhile back from academy a few years ago. Most of the issues went away after about 100 shots. Definitely not a hunting or SD weapon. Fun just to mess around on an open range.
I’m not saying they are all full proof, maybe I got one that had correct tolerance? I had about 1200 rounds thru mine and I don’t remember any issues even with lighter loads. I don’t have the gun anymore or I would do a 500 round burndown.
I think you might have just gotten a bad one man, I’ve had a JTS M12AK for a little under a year and have put hundreds of shells through it with no issues and it’s one of my favorite shotguns I have The only problems I have with the JTS is the weird mag loading that’s really awkward, it’s very front heavy and tires my arm if I hold it for too long, and the bolt carrier is a little weird.
Yeah I have never had that double feed he had, everything runs on mine 600 shells in on gas setting 3. I use "1" for 3 inch slugs or 3 inch 00 Buck, and "3" for pretty much everything else. Works damn amazing 300 buckaroos. Don't know why Brandon deleted my last post.

Is it Luxury? Here it goes for like 750$ and it isn't even the best price
What was the name of the Shotgun Variant of the AK-12 in battlefield 4? Cuz that is what I'm thinking of or the Vepr from cod ghost
DBV-12 in Battlefield 4
I have it and it always jammed. It took a lot of filing and polishing of the bolt and carrier to get it to cycle well. There is another part of the shotgun where the shell ejects that needs to be be filed. There are other videos showing the locations that need modifications. My JTS now cycles both 5 and 10 round mags without a problem
I own the T-1 model of this semi auto and it’s been plenty reliable. Everyone else on YT has made sure to mention to break it in with high brass and over 1300fps rounds. That may explain the feed and cycle issues. Mine was a little tight first few cycles.

What they said is true. They do function quite a bit better after being broken in
I worked with my T-1 and smoothed out everything, worked the action a couple thousand times(as I knew I would have to) and it shoots everything except “ultra light” loads.

@@terralore720 Except I did, and you'd know that if you actually watched the video. Also I don't do "reviews," this gun just sucks donkey dick.
@@terralore720 just Bc yours works doesn’t mean their quality control is good enough to make sure the majority work
It is hard to believe I kicked myself over impulse buying a VEPR-12 years ago, thinking it was a novelty. Once Molot got sanctioned, it turned out to be very fortuitous. Thankfully I've kept it.
The fact this thing has a superfluous 3rd pin makes me want to get one, solely to troll busy-body hall monitor types at the range and get them all bent out of shape.
Then RIchard Beazit from the AFT is going to come shoot your dog
Is this guy Brandon prior military?
@@stn7172 no
Need to clean the shipping grease off of the gas piston and gas tube, if you don't then after a few shots the grease bakes onto the piston causing the piston to drag and stick.
Whoever had the idea to add those "fail sounds" at the whiteclaw cans deserves a high-five and a cold one
"That's not a gun, that's a paperweight."
No, it is a gun... technically
Also, Swype trying to write 'gun' as 'fun' constantly has me going, "I like your spirit, but no."
yeah there's a guy that mods these and says it is cool its me
Well, that certainly looks NY legal given that it can't cycle.
This pains me as a NY resident
Mine runs smooth as butter with cheap birdshot from Walmart. First 100 shells were cheap high brass loads and they jammed about once every mag for the first 50, but smoothed up after that and stopped jamming completely after 70 rounds. Haven’t had an issue since and I love it! Yours either wasn’t broken in properly, or you were effected by the wonderful thing known as “lackluster qc”
And suddenly, palmetto state armory is no longer sold out of these.
I bought that shotgun awhile back from academy a few years ago. Most of the issues went away after about 100 shots.
Definitely not a hunting or SD weapon. Fun just to mess around on an open range.
agreed, it's main purpose is to have fun with and not worry about beating up, it's not that good, but it's a lot of fun after you break it in.
I picked up the jts ar12 it shocked me how smooth it ran
Eh, I own one and so far it has run 100% even with low brass bird shot. I guess quality control was having a good day when mine was made.lol
I have one and mine has run perfectly fine.
"Maybe it's a height over bore thing. I'm going to aim lower to compensate!"
That's not really how that works.
I’m not saying they are all full proof, maybe I got one that had correct tolerance? I had about 1200 rounds thru mine and I don’t remember any issues even with lighter loads. I don’t have the gun anymore or I would do a 500 round burndown.
No regrets on my JTS purchase. For $300 I love it. Just find the right ammo and fuck shit up
Brandon: this is so budget.
Me: *leans forward* I'm listening, give to me your knowledge.
😂
Thumbs up for the "hey mom, can we get" meme reference and the very appropriately selected montage music.
I think you might have just gotten a bad one man, I’ve had a JTS M12AK for a little under a year and have put hundreds of shells through it with no issues and it’s one of my favorite shotguns I have
The only problems I have with the JTS is the weird mag loading that’s really awkward, it’s very front heavy and tires my arm if I hold it for too long, and the bolt carrier is a little weird.
Same. Mine is great. this review was BS.
Door stuck
Yeah I have never had that double feed he had, everything runs on mine 600 shells in on gas setting 3. I use "1" for 3 inch slugs or 3 inch 00 Buck, and "3" for pretty much everything else. Works damn amazing 300 buckaroos. Don't know why Brandon deleted my last post.
I feel like it's a anti-Foreign product review.
I’ve had mine for 3 years and the only problem Is feeding with certain production levels.
They work awesome. Adjustable gas block is key. Roll it to 3 & watch it eat.
