As a retired Commercial Pilot I Enjoy these videos, especially going in and out of Familiar locations....Greg explains everything and must be an inspiration to lots of young folks trying to plan their future....An Air Force fighter pilot, owner of an exotic Business (Medical Equipment), drives a Porsche (they cost too much for me to learn how to spell the name !!!!) and flies that Beech Premier everywhere including the Grocery Store !!! I would hazard a guess, every other kid on the block wants exactly the same thing Greg has acquired through hard work....The key to success is Perseverance, and dedication !!!!

Great video. Love the close-ups of the flightdeck instruments. That's an awesome view you get from 410. Nothing like being on the edge of space. Love the bee design as well. Great video, Greg, really enjoy these. I especially like hearing the ATC conversations and try and build a mental picture of the traffic situation. Loved the one of the busy approach into KATL along with the "Keep hustling" instruction from the tower guy only to see the traffic that was behind you land shortly after you entered the parallel taxiway. Thanks again for sharing these.
The moral of the story.. regardless of the type of aircraft.. 50 dollar covers can save you half a mil. Maybe they should all read "Install after parking" instead of "Remove Before Flight". Man... those engines are expensive.. I would have thought that would be the price of a NEW one.. not just a clean up. Holy Cow. Thank you for sharing your great plane with us!
Greg, I've been watching your videos regularly since I found them on RUclips. What an accomplished pilot you are. Unfortunately, I allowed my business to take me away from something I love many years ago and now as I consider retiring I'm thinking of getting back into flying. I'm hoping to find a way to make it help pay for it's self, if I can do that, because it's something I'd love to finish my available years doing. Look forward to more of your videos and the experience and training I've learned from you. Safe flying....!!
Thanks for another great video. I enjoy your explanations of instrument navigation, the FMS and other technical aspects of your P1D. You could very easily leave the cameras at home and save yourself a lot of work. It is apparent that you are not doing it to pump up your ego but because you love aviation and know that many of us do too. I look forward to each new video. Please Keep up the great job.
Great comment Anthony. He could save his time and some of the dumb *ss remarks and not take the time to do such a great job editing. I produce videos everyday and it is time consuming but the proof is in the quality and P1D really makes the product watchable.
Another great video Greg. That is a very costly bee 🐝 sticker you have on that engine. Never would’ve realized that kind of damage could happen. By the way people, order some of Greg‘s stuff. With COVID-19 its harder to find instructors in my area, but I will continue to pursue all my ratings. My goal is to get my Commercial, Multi Engine, Instrument and to have some turbojet ratings as well, to fly with a corporate group someday. Fell in love with aviation years ago and was a member of the West Virginia Air National Guard, who operated C-130's out of KCRW. Love older war birds and my dream is someday to fly them with the Commemorative Air Force.

RE: the Bees - That swarm raised havoc that week. I was working at Landmark at the time and we had that swarm hit our location a day or two before your incident. They started by trying to create a hive on the static wick of a Hawker 700 we had parked on the ramp and then tried again on another airplane elsewhere on the ramp when we sprayed them on the Hawker. Don't remember what the second plane was because it was after my shift, but I think they hit Business Jet Center and/or Gulfstream North after that before ending up on your plane. We heard through the grapevine that something had happened at TexStar, but never heard anything beyond that. For whatever reason, that Queen and her swarm loved planes. Probably had been holed up in one of the several derelict planes that were around DAL at the time.
Most of them do have plugs on them, but there's still always openings (gear bays, air inlets, etc.) that give nice cozy places for bees and wasps to make their homes. Not a ton that can be done about it.
And I appreciate the camera being able to view the MFD along with the main display. Can actually read the FF's to satisfy my curiosity. Mochas gracias Greg.
@@pip12111 insurance isn't for stuff like that. Lots of jets are eligible for a program that spreads out the cost and covers stuff like this (JSSI is a popular one). It's still expensive as s***, it's just a consistent and distributed expense instead of one lump sum.

Thanks for another great vid. Love the bee story but not the trouble and expense you had. Ouch! I had a bunch of wasps fly out of a vent in the cockpit of a C172 when I was about 200 feet up on takeoff. I flew that pattern quick and jumped out fast. Not too many stings. I noticed something flew overhead when you were on final at time 1:01:00. What was that? Thanks again for the great videos. We are looking forward to many more.
Another awesome video Greg! Brings back memories.... During my first solo at OPF. I got routed 090 due to a DC3 landing with one engine, tower forgot my little Cherokee 160 and almost made it to Bimini before I got vectored back to the field...My instructor on the ground shaking in his boots...LOL!
Ouch! That bill stings. Pun aside, great vid. You reminded me why I use to love being an flight instructor albeit on much smaller planes. The Observational commentary is fun and I think I just like the white noise and rhythm of ATC chatter etc. I wish had that chatter when I fly commercial.

Subject to the deductible, the General AV policy does include coverage for insect, mice, vermin and animal damage. These are specifically excluded from homeowners policies however. Ground risk hull insurance , not in motion would cover this risk.
I'm wondering the same...does the insurance one buys on a plane cover damage caused while the plane is sitting? Hail, wind, hanger collapsing on top....bees? Inquiring minds want to know.

Did my CPL Multi eng IR in that airport, flew there and never used any of the 27.s :). In 81 9R 9C n 9L were in use most of the time. Great airport to learn and fly and by the time was one of the most traffic. I could see and mentally review and "report" all the points and you actually flew while entering the urban area to your right downwind over my first house there. Notice how the Bee is on the pilot's/driver's side. Its to make sure he's BEEing Professional and BEEing good. Also, why are pilots so notoriously cheap?? I know Jet A is costly as is insurance, FAA Certs ,Maintenance, Insurance etc., BUT don't BEE cheap to field marshalls or ramp crew. BEE gracious they are assisting you and making life easier.

I'm sure you have an engine maintenance program for the Premier. That is a funny story. BTW, was LMAO on the music with damn bee's lyric. Too funny!!! Who were the passengers? I live out near Teterboro - AP in new jersey. I've seen disks covering the tubs of the Engines and wondered why. Now I know. Thanks Greg, Bee !! careful up there. You also mentioned Bees like the smell of Diesel !!. I didn't know Bees smelled. I never smelled one :-)
i wonder if the insurance actually covered the damage or that was an out of pocket expense as it did not happen while the aircraft was in motion. Some insurance policies fine print can really screw one over.
Dillon Jackson would make no sense to not cover a newer plane with no " on the ground hull insurance while not in motion" it's similar to comprehensive for your vehicle. It would cover what occurred so owner would not get stung. It's a standard part of most aviation policies. Think fire, theft, hail, animals, etc.
Okay, that's interesting. Funny enough, one of the aircraft at my flight school got damaged by a fuel truck and the schools insurance did not cover it. Quite strange knowing most flights school "usually" have the highest package available as their utilization rate is usually significantly higher than most private owners.

Great video! Never get tired of watching your videos.You always find time to mention something of interest besides talking to ATC. The vectors for landing provided a very nice scenic view of the Ocala area and the Gulf. I guess being stung by a bee is not as bad as having to wait 6 weeks for your engine overhaul and $440,000 later!

But fait went the other way for me and i turned out to be a truck driver. Great story about the bee.... I am a trucker, had a swarm take up residence in and around my exhaust stack back in the late '80's when I was a rookie driver...
Great video as always. Wow, 440k will buy a lot of intake and exhaust covers. The Mass air guard's F-106 had a huge plastic tail cone cover. One winter night the ramp was covered in snow, flying was cancelled, and the crew chiefs attached a rope to one of them and pulled each other around in one with the " Follow me" truck. Not the safest thing to do, but fun memories.

They started by trying to create a hive on the static wick of a Hawker 700 we had parked on the ramp and then tried again on another airplane elsewhere on the ramp when we sprayed them on the Hawker. Don't remember what the second plane was because it was after my shift, but I think they hit Business Jet Center and/or Gulfstream North after that before ending up on your plane. We heard through the grapevine that something had happened at TexStar, but never heard anything beyond that. For whatever reason, that Queen and her swarm loved planes. Probably had been holed up in one of the several derelict planes that were around DAL at the time.
They ought to remove the derelict planes or spray them down on occasion if in long term storage. But usually those get inlet plugs etc.
Most of them do have plugs on them, but there's still always openings (gear bays, air inlets, etc.) that give nice cozy places for bees and wasps to make their homes. Not a ton that can be done about it.

@@pip12111 insurance isn't for stuff like that. Lots of jets are eligible for a program that spreads out the cost and covers stuff like this (JSSI is a popular one). It's still expensive as s***, it's just a consistent and distributed expense instead of one lump sum.

Thanks for another great vid. Love the bee story but not the trouble and expense you had. Ouch! I had a bunch of wasps fly out of a vent in the cockpit of a C172 when I was about 200 feet up on takeoff. I flew that pattern quick and jumped out fast. Not too many stings. I noticed something flew overhead when you were on final at time 1:01:00. What was that? Thanks again for the great videos. We are looking forward to many more.

What do u do with unused excessive fuel from a previous flight can it remain in the tanks for the next flight?

the deductible, the General AV policy does include coverage for insect, mice, vermin and animal damage. These are specifically excluded from homeowners policies however. Ground risk hull insurance , not in motion would cover this risk.

Did my CPL Multi eng IR in that airport, flew there and never used any of the 27.s :). In 81 9R 9C n 9L were in use most of the time. Great airport to learn and fly and by the time was one of the most traffic. I could see and mentally review and "report" all the points and you actually flew while entering the urban area to your right downwind over my first house there. Notice how the Bee is on the pilot's/driver's side. Its to make sure he's BEEing Professional and BEEing good. Also, why are pilots so notoriously cheap?? I know Jet A is costly as is insurance, FAA Certs ,Maintenance, Insurance etc., BUT don't BEE cheap to field marshalls or ramp crew. BEE gracious they are assisting you and making life easier.

i wonder if the insurance actually covered the damage or that was an out of pocket expense as it did not happen while the aircraft was in motion. Some insurance policies fine print can really screw one over.
Dillon Jackson would make no sense to not cover a newer plane with no " on the ground hull insurance while not in motion" it's similar to comprehensive for your vehicle. It would cover what occurred so owner would not get stung. It's a standard part of most aviation policies. Think fire, theft, hail, animals, etc.
Okay, that's interesting. Funny enough, one of the aircraft at my flight school got damaged by a fuel truck and the schools insurance did not cover it. Quite strange knowing most flights school "usually" have the highest package available as their utilization rate is usually significantly higher than most private owners.

Richard Churchill not any many of the Miami area airports. DC-3 & DC-6 are widely used in Caribbean and Miami is the king of Caribbean flying.

Great video! Never get tired of watching your videos.You always find time to mention something of interest besides talking to ATC. The vectors for landing provided a very nice scenic view of the Ocala area and the Gulf. I guess being stung by a bee is not as bad as having to wait 6 weeks for your engine overhaul and $440,000 later!

Great story about the bee.... I am a trucker, had a swarm take up residence in and around my exhaust stack back in the late '80's when I was a rookie driver...
Great video as always. Wow, 440k will buy a lot of intake and exhaust covers. The Mass air guard's F-106 had a huge plastic tail cone cover. One winter night the ramp was covered in snow, flying was cancelled, and the crew chiefs attached a rope to one of them and pulled each other around in one with the " Follow me" truck. Not the safest thing to do, but fun memories.
