It's called "bloom" and it was always a bit of a problem with early video tape. It's also why reflections nearly wash out the whole screen. Since video tape has an infinite frame-rate, it amplifies bright signals like that to infinty. Later Quadruplex systems found a way around this with signal limiters and filters. Remember, video tape was still a fairly new technology in 1965.

Brian Jones guitar should have mixed louder. The Stones were the best when He was in the band. Keith Richards broke a string at the end of his solo. That's why his rhythm guitar dropped out. He then wisely turned down the volume of his guitar so it would not be out of tune.
Ed had one of those rare shows where the bands actually played live: no lip synch. Took techs some years to get sound mix and all right. I agree would have been nice, but we were happy getting about anything live back then

A little syncing issue. The drum snare goes down before you hear it. When you look at the singing the lips look okay except in a couple spots. It's just a little off, no big deal.
I wonder why that thin sound on live performances was so typical then. Maybe the producers refused to allow much volume from the amps. I also suspect they lacked the knowledge of proper amp miking techniques then too.
