When Christian said this library is a game changer, he wasn't joking! It is an absolutely amazing sounding library and I really can't wait until I am composing with it. It just sounds so huge!
Spill mics are THE functionality that's been missing from VI's. Would be amazing if you could make a video with a full orchestra playing, and then soloing/muting the spill mic positions, A/Bing the mixes before the spill mic functionality was introduced, and after.
Thanks Paul, this is an extremely useful demonstration. Between these videos and Homay’s creations, It’s amazing to hear these in advance and to imagine what ideas can be created. I hear sounds as an audience would, so already I’m cultivating melodies. Exciting times ahead! 😁🎶
I have to say when you play the close mics only, it sounds a little synthy to me. But as you add a bit of balcony, so lovely. The spill mics are nice also. I will probably spend way too much time playing with the combination of positions. Can you save a mic preset similar to Jake’s mics? That would be cool.
Ella Bella Close mics only on brass are never advisable, they’re great for adding bite but you need to get some distance... for me I would go for the coles pair if you want a tight but realistic sound.
Great demo Paul! Question about the mic signals: will we be able to route each signal to external audio outputs (eg. 3-4, 5-6) a la Kontakt? That would really be useful for dynamically controlling the levels for the spill mics.
So cool , could you please tell us what your comp specs are particularly on the full demo you put up on the other demo video you put up here ? Which was amazing btw , and would you make that project in logic available for educational purposes ... thanks for taking time out here
The changing of the mics makes the instruments sound really different everytime, very great work! But everytime i change the mics it has to load the signals again its kinda annoying, is there a way to change that?
I'm terribly sorry if I'm asking stupid questions (I know very little about orchestra micing): Why is the stereo and wide mics more set to the left compared to e.g. close mic that is panned to the right (the celli position)? Really like the depth though, from very dry mono to wide roomy sound and the richness and detail of the leader position.
I was wondering if this has the option to purge all samples after a patch is loaded, as Kontakt does? My machine only has 32gb RAM and I fear this library may kill it off. Thanks!
There is no purge function unfortunately. However it can be quite light on resources, if you only use one of the mixes. A full symphonic orchestra takes less than 9GB on my machine.
Interesting, but if you ask me, for my use, I would prefer (for the same amount of memory and disk space used) to have less mics and get instead more articulations and round robins.
Francis Bourre but the economics unfortunately don’t tally like you suggest, for this price you’re not really paying for the mics, halving the mics doesn’t halve the recording time where doubling stuff like round robins and artics doubles the number of sessions we have to record.
Quite worrying how much ram is being used - over 1Gb for a single patch in some cases. How much ram will be required for a full orchestra template? I have 64Gb and at the moment my full orchestra template uses about 30Gb - that's with Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra.
@@TheCrowHillCo that's good to know - how many mics are you using per instrument? I notice that the JJ mixes seems to use a lot less ram - and sound wonderful too.
Andrew Wilson JJ mix only however that is the Logic RAM usage in activity monitor where BBCSO reads < 20GB remember this is every articulation active from oboe flutter tongues to marimba trems. Your never going to be using every single artic so I would venture you’ll easily get a similar memory footprint with 2-3 mics and still have a massive amount of artics loaded.
I've got quite a big decision to make. Does anyone have any recommendations on whether to get this (BBC) vs the studio series? I already have the studio woodwinds and absolutely love them, but can't decide between getting this and the rest of the studio series along with spitfire perc for percussion needs. Also am I the only one that is unable to view the full articulations list on the Spitfire website? I've been trying for a week now, and clicking "show more" moves the box, but I still can't see the articulations.
The articulations list should be visible, might be an issue with your browser? And to attempt answering your dilemma, I'd say wait for the release and read the reviews before you make a decision.
Question: Why is BBC Symphony better then LSO as an orchestra (not as your sample library). As someone from the states, I am not sure why BBC is such an exciting thing since they are not known for film scores as LSO is obviously because of Star Wars, etc. Just curious... =)
English players are well renowned for being some of the best session musicians in the world especially wind and brass, so it makes sense maida vaile studios being home to the BBBSO is thus home to a lot of these players, if you’ve ever played in their main hall you’ll understand what the hype is all for
It lacks solo instruments and focuses on mic for extra $550 which I note Orchestral tools give you at a lesser price. I was hoping there would be more solo instruments. I was enthralled to get Discover and moved on to buy Core and then Originals EB and W, IS and FP for sketching ensemble initial scoring. I am now looking for solo violin, cellos, horn, trumpet, flute, and saxophone. So I guess I shall have to look to the masters as to where they go. You seem to have focused in multiple instruments maybe just in this exposee. Pro seems not to have many supporters compared with Core and also moved on to other products telying on this video?
I'm actually amazed by the leader and spill mics!
My goodness... the sound of this library is off the chart amazing.
When Christian said this library is a game changer, he wasn't joking!
It is an absolutely amazing sounding library and I really can't wait until I am composing with it.
It just sounds so huge!
Excellent walkthrough on the mic positions & signals. Thank you Paul & Spitfire for such a great library. I'm saving hard :-)
Man that library is so fun.. 👏👏
The mics make a lot of difference to previous libraries with the placement sound of the sections. Much more defined to my ears.
this is unbelievable i'm so friggan happy i pre ordered this!!!!!
Thank you Spitfire guys, you are doing an amazing job and your videos are great as well.
Greatest libraries, already buyed, thanks spitfire all team. 👌👌👌👌👌🎶🎶🎶
There's a really 'KPM' sound to those tight brass mixes - would have come in so bloody useful last week! Great job with these.
What does KPM mean?
Sounds great (!) and if I understand correctly you could bus/use the spill mics on their own without any “main” mics activated.
I don't see ostinatum, would be handy to work fast but the sound is great, good job!
Hey! Extremely helpful! Thanks!

I love SpitfireAudio, just got the BBC SO Core and I just realized there are no mic positions? Is this feature only available in PRO version?
Thanks Paul, this is an extremely useful demonstration. Between these videos and Homay’s creations, It’s amazing to hear these in advance and to imagine what ideas can be created.

Was hoping to get more info on the atmos signals & output routing.
Will this be a multi-out / quad-out plugin?

Justin K wondering this as well, especially for the atmos signals. I often like to route all “room” signals to a buss for the mix.
@@colin_la did you guys figure out if you can do this? Would be such a great feature but I can't see how to do it within the plugin.
worked it out. This plugin is amazing.
So intuitive love it!

Which mics are blended into Mix 1?
The changing of the mics makes the instruments sound really different everytime, very great work! But everytime i change the mics it has to load the signals again its kinda annoying, is there a way to change that?
nice channel . underrated. :D
brilliant !
Liked and subbed
I wanna get this with my new Ryzen 3950x build next month. Just curious about the legatos of all the instruments though!
i got an ryzen 5 2600 and it works fine
I have the pro version. I can't find the mic choice on the legato violin 1 patch. Any help?
Nevermind the reaper template was set to core, not pro haha.

Are the microphone sliders animateable in Cubase or are they just fixed in position once selected?
You can control them with CC. Read the last page of BBC SO pro manual.
which mix signal is used in the core version?
why does blue's 'you make me wanna' intro keep popping up in my head? ; )
Hey Paul, do Mix 1 and Mix 2 have the spill mics added to it already in the mix or do they need to be added on top of Mix 1 and Mix 2?
I don’t think so, wouldn’t make sense. He added the Spill Mix to Jakes Mix
@@d_lydian No, I didn't add spill mics to either mix.
Jake Jackson Sorry Jake, thats what I meant: Paul added the Spill mics in addition to your Mix. Forgive me, my english isn’t the best.
@@jakejacksonengineer Thanks for clarifying Jake. Your mixes sound fantastic btw!

Wish there was a core plus version that just had mix1 plus close mics. I find the mix to be too roomy…
So many options!
Is there an "idiot" mode, for complete noobs like me?
No worries, there will be presets
You can use Jake's mixes.
insane

With Jakes' mixes, is there a list of what mics he used in each? (I assumed he did some external processes too?)
