Gosh I wish there were a Core version with just the rest of the instruments (contras, solo strings...) but still leave out the mic positions. I think the size of the Pro version will turn a lot of people off who don't have all the RAM available. I think Core is perfect I just really wish there were Bass Clarinet, and the Solo Strings at least. That to me would really put it up a step to be the best library for the size!

Whenever I listen to virtual instruments' demos, I try to pay attention to when the sounds or arrangements start to get artificial. It never happens when it comes to this library. Everything outrageously sounds realistic and genuine. Well done Spitfire

I’m really trying to keep a tight budget, and you all graciously gifted me Discover, thank you! I was sure I’d just run with that for now. Then I heard the samples in my headphones... and then I saw I had the $49 deducted from core, even though you gifted it! Wow. Who does that?? I think you can guess the outcome: $300 charge on my Visa card now, lol. Pro eventually but Core is SO WORTH IT. That’s chump change for a full integrated orchestral library of a real orchestra. I get it now. Game changer.

Got my copy of Core the day it came out and I still can't believe how good it sounds and how much value for the money you get. BTW when I use the multiple instances template (cubase) from the spitfire page I can work my way around the problem with not being able to unload articulations, as each track comes (probably set from Pro) with only a few articulations loaded (they're separated in legato, longs, shorts and fx). As all tracks are disabled when you open it you can really just pick and choose wich articulations to use.

I've gone and made my own template for Studio One. I found the one on te Spitfire site a bit complex for my tastes, so I just made one with each of the instruments, and some setup for Articulation switching. Then I threw in a channel for my drum plugin of choice (Addictive Drums, setup with Fairfax kit), 3 audio channels for Bass and a pair of Guitars, a group for Kontakt and some midi channels to feed it and a pair of channels for vocals. So far, its all great. I'll probably add some printing tracks to generate stems for later mixing. Still gotta work out a good way to build up "pad" orchestrations.... But its all working good so far. Oh one big thing. It appears Studio One and Spitfire have very different ideas on where C0 lies on a piano.

The Way I saw it, and the reason I chose Core over Pro is that Discover is for everyone, no matter if you're learning or just want to add some colour to your work, Core is for composers that need the full instrumental pallet ready and Pro is more for producers and mixers that fine tune the composer's work for broadcast (though in many cases that job overlaps with the composer's job).

This is truly impressive! I looked at the website, and the playing techniques your libraries offer really support 20th and 21st century composers! What I did NOT find out is whether there is a different amount of playing techniques available between the CORE and the PRO version? According to what you say most likely not. But just in case there are more playing techniques available in PRO, would you mind to put a link where they can be found? (The "What you get" menu option on the website does not list the playing techniques in this particular case as it does with other libs; probably because the list would be incredibly long.)
Personally. what would interest me as a viewer who has no Spitfire library ATM would be an introduction to the Orchestra's percussion instruments and how to use them.
Thank you very much! Feeling very motivated!

I bought Core a few months ago having despaired of finding an orchestra to play my sax concerto, and am quite staggered by its power and realism. Core was a yes for me, and very very pleased with it, especially now I've worked out that expression map outputs need to be 1 octave lower than specified to work with Cubase ! Why is middle C C4 with Spitfire, just out of interest ? That's no where near the middle of an 88 note keyboard !

Hi, thanks for the video. Just I have one question, different from Spitfire Strings, there i can assign a Ccmidi control to the articulation, but here i can't see any option to do that, so we must work with all the articulations opens on tracks into the session? Thanks

You can use the low -2 keys on the keyboard as keyswitches I believe. If there is a way of mapping these to MIDI though, I'm not sure.

    Hello.
I have the Core version but there's one thing that eludes me. If I do a piece for strings for example in Discover and then want to move to Core then I have to copy that piece over multiple instruments, yes? So, if I have harmonies played on one MIDI track I have to separate them into single instruments to get the same result, yes?
Or am I completely missing the point? (still a noob with all this :D )

Does the core edition allow you to select how you trigger a technique? I see in the manual it says you could switch between triggering an articulation with a key switch or, lets say, a midi channel. I know however that sometimes manuals are reused between versions. At any rate, this is such a wonderful library and I can't wait until I can finally get it!

Hi Chris, what is your fader midi controller, look like block of faders. Looks like no other fader midi controller and I really want to buy it, I'm using alot of Spitfire Audio libraries as well. But don't know where to get, thanks

So can we use UACC with this? Because I really HATE keyswitches (and you have UACC with all the rest of your libraries).

I bought Core bec of this video and I'm extremely satisfied! Would it be possible to have a copy of this Logic File, to better learn the articulation and expression moves you did?

You mentioned Core has solo instruments in the wood winds. Does it also have solo instruments in the brass section as well? Thank you!

Hi, Could you please do a video showing how to do articulation sets with BBCSO Core, because so far I have not been successful and getting stressed over it !!
When I say articulation sets , I mean being able to change the articulation of specific notes via the Piano roll in logic Pro X with the BBCSO Plugin.
    Thank you!!

I haven´t even watch the video, but oh you marketing geniuses! Give me the free version, explain the limitations, put a contest so i can participate with my new free orchetsa, then make me fell weak when the other participants sound amaizing with their paid libraries and make me think it is becasue of the librearies and not becasue i am a noob. While you post, a few days after realeasing discover, this video. Is just imopsible not to buy the upgrade..... this happened to a friend by the way

Do you have people using more than a couple of mic positions Christian (et al)? I have found with 128GB of system memory VEPro really can only load 4 mic positions per instrument. Does this track with your experience? How much ram would it take to load every mic for every instrument (maybe extreme but I'd be interested to see how much ram that would take)? Cheers!

Think about buying this. Use Eastwests old Hollywood Stuff, but fell in love w/ the sound of BBC core through Discover. Not sure if it will run. System Requirements say I need AMD Ryzen, but I have AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core, 3.50 GHz w/ 16GB Ram. Will this work? No problem w/ Discover or Abbey Road Wonderous Flutes.

I wish I was richer!!! I would love to buy core + some of the other libraries. But I’m just a hobbyist, so the investment doesn’t make sense...

I'm still torn between this or Albion One.. I know Christian mentioned in another video that Albion One is a go-to for him because he comes from the world of production/EDM and that is also where I am coming from. I'm just looking to make a purchase to get started on orchestral programming and would like to have the freedom of individual instruments that BBCSO offers over Albion One but also am not sure if that makes the learning curve that much harder for me?

Is there any optoon of individual instruments in core version ? What instruments are added in pro ?

  • @edrage8679

The reason that i would not buy the pro version is not the money but the weight of the library more than 600GB its a lot.

does anyone know what midi knob (the silver square thing) he's using to control the dynamics of the performance in real time? I want it.

I use Core, with some other libraries to supplement the missing instruments that Pro has. One thing really bugs me (and it wasn't fixed in the patch that fixed the legato) and that is the xfade on the solo horn long patch. It comes in way to early and it's a very harsh sound. horns a4 does it way better. please tweak!

SF can you please allow purge articulations on core? I don’t understand why that’s a feature in Pro but not in Core
