Great video and help. I have 3 inteli-touch fans, all turning the fans quietly even at the highest settings, so I am very happy with these 30+ year old fans. But the controllers are failing and the replacements are hard to find, and still quite expensive. Since Casablanca no longer supports these older fans I am glad there is an alternative. Tip: I have found several of these fans being sold rather inexpensively on eBay and other sales platforms, and even at my local thrift shop. The motors on these fans are still very sturdy and mostly working. Most are discarded just because of the failure of the control boards as demonstrated in this video So if you are looking to keep spare parts around for these older fans, try finding one of these for sale. Many of the ones I have recovered have very beautiful and intricately made shrouds and they are interchangeable with one another. These older fans were made in the U.S. but the newest or current ones are mostly made overseas. .
Glad you found the video helpful. They really are great fans. The new controllers have worked great. They work a bit different than the originals but once I got use to them I think they are better than the originals. Thanks for the tip and for watching and commenting.
This was helpful as this was the 2nd intellitouch control board that failed in my home. I ended up doing the swap with the fan in place (ceiling is at 17') with the fan body at 13'. I used a 10' A-frame ladder. Putting the bottom half of the fan body back on (after swapping in the new control board) is challenging since the ring that separates the 2 halves of the clamshell easily falls out. I finally used masking tape to hold it in place while I worked to align it with the screws that secure it. Once one screw connects, the rest are easier and when all is done, I stripped off the tape. Thanks again for this video!
I got a free Inteli-Touch Casablanca last summer. Didn’t start, just hummed and the motor would barely spin if pushed with a hand, and would spin in the same direction I pushed it to. Cut the old 10uf capacitor out of the board, and connected a brand new 10uf capacitor from a red wire to a brown wire connecting to the board. Works perfectly now.
I also have Casablanca fans and 1 stopped working so I sent it away to be repaired. It came back with a control that had no reverse which is a very needed option for us. In other words the control needed to be with Inteli Touch controls. Watching your RUclips video with the MN company parts available was enlightening, Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your Casablanca Fan upgrade and the resource to purchase the module and switch. I have 4 Casablanca fans over thirty years old. 3 are running great but we want to upgrade the fan switches and change the color. Hope yours are still working great. We are also looking for someone to troubleshoot the 4th fan in the Northeast.
Glad you found the video helpful. The fans are still working great. I think those Casablancas will run forever. Don't have a suggestion for someone in the Northeast to troubleshoot. I would call Fanman lighting and talk with one of their techs to see if they can help. Good luck. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Beautiful house and thanks for posting! I designed, built and tested the kit you installed. It was neat seeing my handwriting on the back of the chassis! Thank again!
Glad you enjoyed it. That is a very nice conversion kit. Great job. I was glad there was a retrofit because those are great fans and wasn't real excited to replace them. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Mine is a Southwire. Mine was a little funky at first - I was getting a lot of false indicators - I reread the instructions - duh. It needs to be synced first by scanning all the circuits - then seemed to work fine. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.
There are totally people that will offer to buy the boards, orange strip, or switch if you all get in contact with us collectors. I can use the parts ❤
To honest I was surprised to learn that there is quite a market for used Casablanca fans. They are great fans. Mine are now good for another many, many years. Thanks for watching and commenting.
For those with Samsung motor, I recommend you to take the old board out even if it’s working fine. You could buy new board like this which is compatible with Samsung motor, and sell old board and control on eBay. Inteli-Touch is not compatible with Samsung and therefore was recalled for being a fire hazard.
All other ceiling fans have that remote control on the exterior. And it goes above the fan in the bracket which in my opinion is very hard to get it on there... Just wondering if all Casablanca fans are like this... Would be really nice when installing it but when that part goes out it looks pretty painful... although the guy in this video made it look pretty easy... But getting up on that tall ladder looked kind of risky... Thanks for the video and even having some kinda head cam to film it...
I believe most all Casablanca fans have a similar set up. Since our fans are so high, the hardest part was getting the ladder set up. Actually changing the sensor was pretty easy and straightforwarded. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have a couple Casablanca ceiling fans in my collection, the only intellitouch fan I have in my collection is a Casablanca Spirit Of Saturn Ceiling Fan. The rest of them are 3 speed
Thanks for posting this video. I just completed the conversion and it was relatively easy because of your instructions. I might not have known about Fan Man Lighting if it wasn’t for RUclips. Thanks again! P.S.-It works!
Great job! I'm impressed. I have a similar situation with my older Casablanca fan. I have a couple questions that may help me with my own project. How old are your fans? Do you know the model of your fan? Also, were you able to reverse the fan direction before your upgrade? Are you able to reverse the fan direction after your upgrade? Thanks a bunch!!!
My fans are right at 20 years old. They are Casablanca Metropolitan series - Model No. = 4839T. To order the correct replacement parts you will likely need to know the serial numbers also. My fans were originally reversible and are also reversible after upgrading. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions. Good luck with your project. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Visiting a home with a CasaB fan in the guest room. Only one chain on the fan...WHAT?!? Fan WILL reverse...but light control confusing, and the fan has 2 speeds...too fast, and faster-than-that. I can see why they're switching to "Intelli-whatever", as this fan is impossible to adjust. Had to just turn it off. Unusable!
@@jimstrict-998Both pull chain and Intellitouch models were sold in the 80's and 90's. The Intellitouch fans had up to 6 speeds, and were reversible at the wall switch. The fans in this video were never pull chain. I do not believe pull chain fans can be converted. Typically, the pull chain fans had three speeds, and if there was a light kit, a second chain to control that. It's unclear what your host is doing with the light on that fan, but it sounds like there is a problem with the speeds. Reverse on that fan is a switch on the fan.
That A Frame ladder was very sturdy and much easier to set up than scaffolding. Scaffolding would have been overkill IMO. Thanks for watching and commenting.
No. I assumed since they didn’t work properly, they were no good and tossed in the garbage. I didn’t know there was a market for them. I’ll keep that in mind for future reference. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Glad you enjoyed it. The kits (new wall switch and circuit board) were $150 each. I initially thought the price was a little steep but new fans like these are in the $500 range plus the hassle of changing them out. The kits were an easy install and fans now working like new. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@elwellboyI appreciate the video, very informative. It sucks that this is the solution to Casablanca 's problem of making cheap switches. I have 3 intelli touch switches going bad in my house and they can't be 10 years old even. The W-32 switches are discontinued and cost $100 on eBay. And Casablanca's proprietary technology seems to be incompatible with a regular common sense switch....very sad.
