    John Gibbons is a registered Osteopath, Lecturer and Multi-Published Author and is demonstrating how to apply Kinesiology Tape to assist in heel pain or plantar fasciitis. This tape is also great for conditions like; anterior knee pain, chondro-malacia patella, patellofemoral pain syndrome, mal-tracking, osgood schlatters, jumpers knee, bursitis plus many more.
    Some of these techniques are taught on the Kinesiology Taping course at Core Elements in Swindon and all details on the website.
    John also has Hip videos and he discusses an acetabular labral tear and also a femoroacetabular impingement called an FAI - these are cam and pincer type of impingement. He also mentions perthes disease and osteoarthritis of the hip joint. John also discusses how the hip flexors (psoas) are involved and the iliofemoral ligaments and how they cause an inhibition to the gluteus maximus (Gmax) through the hip extension firing pattern test. Janda and the lower crossed syndrome is also mentioned and how this can cause lower back, facet or disc pathology of L5 or L5 and involve the nerve roots.
    John also shows you in his other videos to assess the nerve root level of the adductors (obturator nerve through L3 reflex), patella tendon (femoral nerve through L4 reflex), semitendinosus (tibial / sciatic nerve of L5 reflex) and Achilles / plantar (tibial nerve of sciatic through S1 reflex) and a normal response is classified as 2++. Any reduced hypo-reflex (1+) or increased hyper-reflex (3+++) with Clonus and Babinski positive as might indicate some form of upper motor neurone lesion like Multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal cord tumour or brain injury.
    These techniques and more is taught on the Shoulder and Cervical Master-Class at Core Elements in Swindon.
    In terms of his courses he offers, you can attend one at a time if you prefer or book all ten and receive a discount. Once you have completed all the courses you will be able to call yourself a Bodymaster Method ® Practitioner and be registered on his website with the letters 'BmP' after your name.

    How well does this tape hold up in water?.. I exercise mainly in water due to "other" injuries so I am seeking a remedy for this fasciitis that I have now been afflicted with for over 1 year. I have tried: rest, heat, cold, NSAIDs, muscle and nerve relaxants. physio trigger point therapy and acupuncture. I need to get on with my life before it gets away on me! The other question is: Is this taping method accomplish able by a lone person?

    For a heel spur just poke the inflamed area with the sharp corner of a cofee table or a pen with the tip taken out. Put as much pressure into it as you can. Do this every day for three weeks. You have to inject pressure back into the area.

    • @johannest3628
      @johannest3628 5 лет назад

      Nothing to worry about. The important thing is to make sure the foot/ankle is dry and clean as you apply the tape. You can even take a shower with the tape on, just make sure you dab the tape gently with the towel afterwards and don't rub, since that'll loosen the ends of the tape, making it peel off. You can keep the tape on for up to five days.

    I have some questions as a bodywork therapist. The idea of kinesiotape is to mimic muscle tension, right? Or is it to re-train shortened muscles? I've treated things like severed nerves in my flexor muscles by waiting for things to heal, and then taping the antagonist muscles to regain mobility.
    I see how the second segment could help PF (plantar fascia), but I can't imagine why you'd use the tape, stretched over the PF.. Wouldn't thatonly shorten the tissue of the arch, exacerbating the problem?

      The tape lifts the skin a micro amount which allows the blood and lymph flow and for nerves to have more 'space' to nourish the injured area. Muscles are 100% reliant on what the nerves and blood are doing. Think less of muscle and more of the fascia matrix in which the blood/lymph/nerves are invested in. This is an osteopathic point of view. Sue Hitzman, founder of Melt Method, has great info in this regard.
