You are doing well because you are good at this type of gameplay. Those of us with physical limitations really struggle at this. There is a reason why the majority of players don't PVP. They either need a separate mode for more casual players, or really boost up what you get if you are easily killed. Feels bad going in, dying within a minute, and not getting much of anything.

can't seem to figure out the pvp as i die pretty much as soon as I encounter another person, so I mostly try to farm creatures until the storm forces me to be murdered by another player. it really wouldn't hurt for them to up the amount of plunder you get from participating a bit.

They literally did. They released a hotfix, probably while this video was being uploaded, that increased the amount of plunder you get from players and chests by a lot. In my experience, I can drop in, do the quest, then die for like 350 rep, or I can stick around and get a kill or two for like 600.
It takes a LITTLE longer, but you get much more rep, and it's more fun.

But most of my plays did not give me any quests.. am I missing somthing?
I think you have to complete the intro quest to see them. There are few tips how to "play" it :)

I can't even fathom how you could be getting plunder at the rate you are saying. I haven't come close to that, and I'm not even complaining about the game mode!
My guild Discord was full of complaints of struggling to get even 25 plunder a match before getting killed and just being angry at the whole thing. I'm kinda meh about it but it's definitely not clicking for a large portion of the player base, which is a shame because I'm sure it won't encourage them to try new modes in the future.
if u really wanna earn plaunder, just dont dive in too fast, look at other ppl diving, go somewhere they didnt dive, and try to slowly float down and not dive instantly so u see the elites on minimap, then dive on top of an elite to get plaunder, u might even get 250+ plaunder instantly as game start by doing the quest literally on landing lol
yeah i think he is full of shit because ive yet to see what he is saying as possible.
So we tried this and after a few games it just wasn't as fun as playing normal WOW. So would just rather spend my time in WOW.
Saying that we are big mount and pet collectors so we kind of have to play thru this now for those rewards :(
Though I wonder if Blizzard look at the Plunderstorm metrics and assume everyone playing this is doing so because of fun when some are just doing it for the in-game WOW rewards.
Weird that Blizzard would design a PvP event in which avoiding PvP is the best way to rank up renown.

@@sardonicspartan9343 no, its still the best way because the only way you get renown as a pvper is if you win, and winning consistently in a BR is really really really unlikely.
You get literally 0 bonus renown for second place.

Hey Bell, your experience in your two hours of getting 8k rep is pretty unlike most people I've seen talk about this. And it's unlike mine as well. You're also whistling past the whole, drop in next to two other players thing and get killed with 8 plunder. Which is also happening to people a lot, even if you try to find a place not in a major area. The most effective way to do this is to dive bomb on an elite, if you know where they are. You can get like 300 right off the bat, do the quest, die. But it's extremely boring.
wow players TRY SO HARD to make things not fun. jeez... the rewards are not worth playing in an unfun way. WoW players sad bro.
So of playing solos, I only had 1 match like that. Just by following the principles in this video.
@@BellularGamingI attest to OP’s post. This is my experience too in general. I don’t think your experience is the norm. I try to follow your tips but i just was never into BR games. The skill gap is way too high. I’m not even actively trying to pvp her and they get me each time
@@KingOfWarz Yep, this is my experience too. I have limited hand movement with my left hand and so I can not jump and maneuver like other players. Bellular is good at the game, so it is much easier for him, but the majority of WOW players DON'T PVP and so they suck at this type of gameplay. Not sure why he struggles to comprehend this.
I didn't not experience that at all. I only died when I actively seek out other players.
Sadly i have 0 fun in this mode and i have to force myself through it for the rewards. Makes it not better that they overhyped it with their quitness way to much so that people like me who are not into it are even more dissapointed.

@@XCeazyX Yep, me too. I want the rewards, they look awesome. Absolutely HATE this game mode, and anything associated with PVP or Fortnite. Not my playstyle, the controls are weird as hell, and my abilities never seem to do any damage at all to other players.

"Don't take every fight" lol i had someone chase me literally across the map from the start of the game. I had 0 plunder but crap happens i guess. Main complaint is the pickup of the spells because i lost spells to steals when i am right on top of the spell/item while click spamming pickup.
I just let them kill me, easier to just restart a run then spend time constantly trying to flee a blood thirsty player lol

Not for me, tried it and its not worth the grind to hit 40 renown. Wpuld have loved a new couple of dungeons or a 3 man raid but im sure someone will like this...
i think it's for me, i'm mainly a pvp player but with the years of neglect i've moved to other games and only play wow casually but i've been having a lot of fun in this mode, i hope it stays in some form
i think lots of people don't like pvp or this gameplay style and just want the rewards for retail so they see it as a grind
If you're not into the PvP stuff like me, you'd be better off not dive bombing in; wait and see where others land and try to stay clear. That will give you some time to finish the initial quest, and then that game will be worth it even if you're killed fast. If you do the quest you'll get 250 plunder and quite fast at least 300-400 plunder total, after that it slows down because mobs are killed by others and the space is narrowing. By then (as a PvE'er) you might as well start being more reckless because time spent in game gives less plunder now. I think Plunderstorm is quite fun even as a PvE player, and has good rewards. :)

This reminds me of pvp island expeditions. It's about as fun as those as well.
i tried giving this a chance i dont like it. as soon as i see another player i dont even fight anymore i let them kill me.
If you see the storm, run to it to deny them of your plunder.

@@XCeazyX not that i am too proud to try and fight, it is just not my thing. i just want to collect my rep and collect my transmog and get back to farming in DF. why prolong a fight i know i am going to lose.
My tactic : Dive, kill a elite, do quest. Kill some random stuff. Lvl up 2-5 lvls everyday, hit 40 then forget about this event.

I'm forcing myself to do one or two levels a day. I may quit once I get the trader's tender levels.
I am not any good at it, apparently. But trying to dive in, then dying rather fast every single time is not stimulating me to invest any more time in it. But thank you Blizzard for trying. I am sure some are having a blast.
Appreciate that you aren't foaming at the mouth because they tried something new and you didn't happen to jive with it, haha. Hope next patch brings something unique that you can enjoy as well!
I'm glad some people understand that not everything in wow has to be for everybody. I'm having tons of fun in this, and I think everybody on my friends list is as well. Last night and today I saw 30 different people playing it. Most of my guild is playing it as well.

@@Nemiuk or it's just real gamers versus MMO players thing. Everybody I know that also plays more than just world of Warcraft has been in it and loving it.
I tired to approach it with an open mind, I like WoW pvp but I never played any BRs. After a few games I think I'll sit this one out, I don't really like that nothing I know about WoW applies here, it feels like a different type of game and I'm not really the target audience. I'm a bit sad that a pirate-themed content update is not something that fits more into the regular game. I hope the rest of the ppl have fun with it.
That's a great observation. It just doesn't feel like wow at all. It looks like it and sounds like it but it just doesn't feel like it.

i almost wish wow would overhaul combat to have less of a focus tab targeting, i feel like it can add more depth to pvp, but it will prob make most of the playerbase mad
A lot of this video is based on IF you can find the good stuff. I found jack, except for holy shield - it sucks. And that was after minutes of searching. I never saw a quest, have no idea if I ever leveled up, and have no idea how much rep I got, never saw an elite that I know of, and i died right after I got the shield. Complete opposite of Bell's experience. Don't think I'll be participating in this. Huge let down.
You have a UI on the right side that shows you what your quest is, which rewards 250 for completion and you have a pluner tracker at the top right side. If you die, you also get a death screen that shows your plunder represented as rep gained. If you stay in the kill screen, you can go down to the bottom right and see a "view renown" which shows you your current rep level (like the other renowns in-game) and what you've unlocked.
You can also talk to the NPC as soon as you load into the waiting room to ask him to show you your renown screen, so you can keep track that way as well.
Don't worry about trying to get "the good stuff". You'll always be outpaced by the sweaties. Go small, stick to the edges within the boundary of the wall and pick off what rares, chests and loot you can find.
Furthermore, don't immediately rush your flyover at the beginning. You can spend a lil extra time and see where other players are going and you can usually tell where players are or aren't by their use of abilities, so you can glide elsewhere to avoid other players.
@@LDaemontus "Complete the Captains Quest" isn't really what I would consider telling you what your quest is. I got it once, no idea how because it doesn't tell me what it is.

@@voiceofthevoid2284 you don't find out until you land in the map in the live game. The main waiting screen doesn't tell you, just if it is the daily world q.
So far the most effecient way i have been farming this, is about completing the world quest as often as possible. i have managed to find a spot around the outskirts, where i rarely see others - there i simply divebomb, kill elites, loot the chests and kill myself in the wall. i normaly get around 4-500 plunder in a 3-4min run doing this
i got to rank 20 today by repeating this over and over

This was a great video but I am still not liking that we are incentivized to go after each other. I would prefer a mode where you kill harder and harder mobs as you get toward the middle and only have to kill each other when there are no mobs left.
Low latency is the most OP ability in this game.

i don't like PVP and i suck at it, but i actually am having some fun with this mode and even managed to get a couple of wins, i think it's great blizz is doing some new things!
The biggest hurdle that I've found myself struggling to overcome is the general aversion to getting killed. I don't PvP, and I've had to stop myself from going into a panic when I see someone going after me. I generally just scurry across the map, like a little rat, avoiding anyone I see. If I bumble across a rando, I generally just run off, grabbing any loose loot that I can, but generally not putting up a fight. If I've accomplished the Captain's order, then I tend to let the Rando kill me, or just run into the storm.
As I've said before, this is so not my cup of tea...It's essentially doing the Battlegrounds doing Children's Week to get the achievement kind of situation. But, I'm still trying to do it, and trying to find some sort of fun (not quite there, yet, but there have been some close moments)
my advice is just try to fight when another guy goes for you. if you can think of them as a more skittish mob and just relax, you will be suprised sometimes. people as it turns out are really not that much better than you at things most of the time

Mike. Do you hear what you said off handedly, which is a problem. This is nothing like WoW PVP. Kind of odd for a WoW patch ,don't you think? Maybe I am just to cynical . I an not a fortnight player never have been . So having waited for a WoW patch. Just to get Blizzards next setup for Microtransactions is just more than a little Irritating. Cause a Battlepass is coming probably around Q4 this year would be my guess.

After losing Doda they have been trying to find away to make money from the Pub G ,Fortnight crowd forever here it is. @@Th3Ey3200 matches not coins 500 conis = 200 matches. the more the better but there is a sweetspot where no coins are on the map and pvp isnt a good option for pve players tbh

Well since you now get more plunder from killing players you don't even have time to finish the quest, 80% of the time your dead before you even have a chance

Yeah it cracks me up to still see pvp and pve people that still argue about the pvp in this event as if it actually means anything. The pvp is irrelevant far as leveling the renown. I don't even bother with it at all now unless I'm just trying to escape a player to get more plunder. I'm having more fun doing that than I was fighting anybody.

Wait I don't understand. Aren't the people playing this game mode trying to maximize rewards and optimize farming time the tryharders and sweats? And people who Pvp aren't there just for the fun of it? It's kimda weird because usually it's the other way around.
I literally say "thank you" to any player who kills me because I've already gotten 500-700 plunder by that point and its like "finally! I can go again!"
No, it's worse than pvp. Just want the plunder, always third partied. If there weren't rewards for retail, I wouldn't touch this. It's fine that it's a mode, but I just wish the rewards were only for Plunderstorm so I could avoid the anxiety of trying to run away while i loot plunder

I really think a couple tweeks and this could be an enjoyable pve or pvp gameplay loop activity for the main game tbh
I, honestly, think if they allowed for participation plunder to help players who die early and they increased the type of rares + mobs, gave a bit more bonus objective quests and increased the overall plunder (beyond just the hotfix), it could be better.

That after the World soul Saga rather than a narrative story line they are going to focus on game modes and seasons rather than continue the overall narrative of World of Warcraft? I like that blizzard added something new and most of my guildmates love it. I dont. I am someone who hates pvp and battleroyale style games. I will grind for the cosmetics but once i hit that 40 mark i will be done. But for those who are enjoying hope blizzard brings it back for you

Mana sphere is amazing in duos. Got a one shot double kill with it last night to much cheers. It does a ton of damage when leveled up.

I feel the same. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, PvP always feels personal. My character whether it's my main that has hundreds of hours invested or this temp toon for the Plunderstorm, it's an avatar of me. So when another player is attacking my avatar, it feels they're attacking me. It doesn't matter that I can "hope right back in" to another match because I still spend more time in the lobby than I do the match. I wish there was an in-game way to get the rewards. Or at least a re-color

I have tried the game mode a couple times and i can honestly say i hate it its not fun and i feel we have not gotten anything good in wow since the release of drwgonflight that along with hero talents im finally quitting wow glad i didnt preorder

More Plunderstorms for some of the holidays... Darkshire for All Hallow's Eve, 100% gnome and Goblin skins in Winterspring for Winter Veil... and so on.
On the flip side hopefully they do some kind of new rouguelite mode like torghast but less awful.

How much exp/plunder is needed for max reputation?
I am never going to play this... i dont have the time to be grinding to max renown lvl in a limited time event.
This is not a casual friendly event.
it IS casual friendly, you don't even need to engage other players, you can que solo and farm for the rewards...I'm already renown 12 and I barely played with a friend last night

How are you getting the camera pulled back that far, I can't seem to pull the camera back on bit on my game.
Dynamic Camera is an addon you can use but there's also a macro that allows you to hotfix the zoom ratio. Bellular has done a video on his channel reviewing the addon, so if you're interested I recommend going to watch it.
As much as I loathe BRs, I'll tough it out and just go with the strats that You and Soul have dished out for the renown rewards. So definitely much appreciated 🙏

I just dont get why they used wow here why not overwatch or something new. It seems well designed but putting it behind a wow sub seems silly in the age of f2p monetization gimmickry and fomo

Very fun just to hop on for an hour and play. No complications. I do think being tied to the dragonflight sub fee is under handed and short sighted. They could attract a bigger audience by making the game free and use the same business model as Fortnite. Clever way of showing the shareholders that people are logging into dragonflight though!.

I don't think anyone needs to be told to use awesome aoe abilities if they get them. that is not a tip or a guide. that's just common sense
Well then, it's a good thing that the video never once said anything to that effect.
He explained WHY the most OP ability is good, pointed out the massive AOE ability that ducks unless paired with another spell, and then gave a good use case for every other ability in the game, as well as general advise for the game mode as a whole.
BTW, every single attack ability in Plunderstorm is AOE.
Just to be clear. Blunderstorm Isn't WoW. It isn't a MMORPG. Its a distraction.

MMORPGS have character progression, Stories, quests. Blunderstorm has none of that. It doesn't even fit into WoW's established lore, unless the Braindead Pirates all killing each other non stop is the reason why we won't get a Pirate Expansion (Not enough pirates surviving)
Sure MMORPGS have distractions, theme park style gameplay has been the norm, but blunderstorm isn't even bringing your character out to any of the locations, its not the established "you" of Azeroth. Your Pirate doesn't get a name, an identity in the world. It just exists, and it dies. You get to be a NPC to someone else's story. @@XCeazyX

Keybinds are completely different in this mode, so it’s still F until you rebind it again.

Fun times.. people tryharding the hell of this dumpster fire. I'm getting anywhere from 10 to 200 per round. In quite a few games I get killed within seconds of landing by someone who already has multiple abilities. Nearly everyone I die to uses the same couple of abilities. I did manage 1000+ in one round once. In a few, I got nearly instakilled by elites I couldn't see when landing because WoW in 2024 still takes ages to load in mobs for reasons.

I have the Bloodthirsty title and still get my ass handed to me in this game mode. Seems most I encounter are way stronger and move better then I do. I wish they had a section where I could take my time with the power ups and get to know them better. That said I refuse to kill myself by running into the storm and would rather go down fighting.
So do you have to spectate after you die, to get your few shitty plunder? Or can you Leave Game?
Nah you can leave immediately with no penalty
Once you die (in solo) or the duo dies you can leave with the plunder.
In solo you can leave immediately, in duos you have to wait for your partner to die.
It's an ass game mode. It adds nothing to your main character/progression as its a separate game-mode.
- It's primarily pvp, which means that by design its not for the vast majority of the player base.
- It's actively promoting griefing because the focus is on plunder so pvp makes no sense what so ever.
- Controls are abysmal
- FOMO for basically nothing
- A cheap asset-flip to try and cash in on the trend known as battle-royals
-They really wasted time and energy on this shit instead of adding something to the main game with worthwhile rewards ...
Got in out of it in 20 minutes, and I feel they should pay me for wasting a second on it.
Blizz is paying these streamers to try and promote this mode as PvE just so the PvE'ers can be fodder for the PvP griefers.
"It focuses on griefing." My boy, you haven't played pvp bgs, have you? Anyone who has recently, knows that the current meta is 100% griefing the graveyards and flag hoarding to prevent any side from capping. Griefing has been the heart of pvp since Classic and the meta in Retail hasn't changed as the pvp system absolutely rewards it. There are entire teams of Russians & Asians dedicated to maxmising their grief status just for a lil extra honor in unrated, of all places.

Can't get plunder if you land near someone even when trying not too including in the middle of nowhere. They ignore elites and run after you and you suck in PvP and end up with 100 or less plunder.
Dislike video because you don't understand we know HOW to get plunder and we are not as good as you.
2500 XP / 250 XP = 10 Games Per Level
10 * 40 = 400 (Games To Finish Pass)
500 plunder mean average per game = 200 games
This is not a mega grind, this is a fun on the side bonus game.
TL;DR - Fire Whirl is broken
Sorta, but it's extremely easy to counter it.. just get repel / fade to shadows / faeform and you don't have to worry about it and repel even punishes it with silence + some damage.. Searing axe + toxic smackarel with any combination of fade to shadow / quaking leap / hunte's chains / windstorm is where it's at though, super fun to use and noone expects a melee build which lets you absolutely DELETE people..

The game mode is interesting but, unless you end up enjoying the pvp, gets kinda dull pretty quick. I do like the idea. It just needs some tweaking and a 2.0 interation. For me the pvp aspect feels a bit like garbage due to how crazy everything is, but we'll see if I like it more with different abilities.
This was such a waste of time and resources that could of been spent on making ACTUAL PVP CONTENT, but alas I will most likely struggle through it for the tendies 🙃🙃🙃

I thought i sucked at this game mode, but, seeing the ocean of comments of people who can't survive more than 30 seconds for the life of them, I have determined I am actually an immortal pirate god by comparison and all should fear me.

It's not that at all, that's what people were expecting. This is a Battle Royale.
For PvE'rs, generally work close to edges of storm, maybe dive bomb to a rare mob if you see one and when other players not close by. Plunder whatever you can find, kill mobs, loot, etc, when you can't see anything else to plunder anymore dive into storm and restart, this is for faster gathering, but still too much grindy and boring. Horrible experience to get transmogs, lots of wasted time that you could use in normal game mode.

Dungeon changes = basic patch, or a modification to the dungeon- so a mod.
Changing how a spell works = a modification to code and assets- so a mod.
Not sure what is hard to grasp here.

I think this could be a decent game mode if it was PvE and you could use one of your characters and start with a basic spell or attack of their class..... the other players are what ruins it, every time.. when I do try because I hate myself, I just kill some mobs and open some chests and when another play engages me I just take my hands off the keyboard and mouse... there is no point dealing with raged up little fartnight kids
