    This is actually a fantastic option. They fixed one of the biggest problems that I have had with my Cintiq Hybrid (the cable) but I'm so reliant on my express keys. Guess I'll have to get the remote! Great that they are making their products more accessible to people though!

      There's a program you can get that makes short cuts on the screen. So it's virtual express keys. Yeah it's no replacement for actual buttons, but they're super customizable and free.

    • @indigoxalis
      @indigoxalis 5 лет назад +68

      That's true, but Huion tablets have a lot of bugs and are made more cheaply. Most of the huions in reviews have had issues, like the cord connection not working, and installation is a nightmare from what I've heard.

    • @MiniBuneary
      @MiniBuneary 5 лет назад +32

      @@indigoxalis I can't speak for the cord connection, but the drivers need to be downloaded from their site and not from the little driver cd huions come with, which is usually the problem! Also calibration is important to do and your computers RAM will affect the performance of the tablet. I'm going to be investing in a Huion this year and i think they're pretty great from what i've heard/read :)

    • @krizalide1
      @krizalide1 5 лет назад +26

      @@indigoxalis My first 2 tablets were Wacom. The amount of times I had to install and reinstall the drivers because it wouldn't work was ridiculous. My second tablet was a small 13" cintiq and I kept losing the screen and image as soon as I moved the tablet because the cable connector was garbage. They both have good and bad sides.

    I'm very glad that Wacom seemed to have listened to people. While it's still a bit more expensive than very similiar tablets, it is good that people, who rather would like to stick to Wacom, but couldn't afford a Cintiq, finally have the option to get one that has a very nice size aswell! While I'm glad I got my Huion Kamvas GT-191 (and I really like this tablet a lot) I'd have saved up a bit more money for this, had it come out before I got my Huion c:

    The cintiq 16 is great! I plan on investing in one within the next few months; although of course I'll read more reviews, and more testing. Wacom only released this tablet because they're getting scared of competitors leveling up, and becoming real competition for them. I knew it was only a matter of time before they dropped an affordable screen tablet with the popularity of these surface pros.

    I got an iPad pro for digital sketching. I use procreate for the drawing program. Its not my favorite most of the time. The apple pen feels like I'm drawing with a fat crayon. The slippery glass doesn't feel satisfying to me, I've realized. I do use it for Spotify and playing RUclips on the side when I'm working.
    I've been using wacom tablets for maybe 15+ years. I'm used to not having touch capabilities, and I usually turn it off anyways.
    I had a wacom bamboo tablet for so many years, and using the keyboard for shortcuts was easy for me.
    I use a wacom intuos pro now, and I still reach out to the keyboard instead of the keys on the side. I think I will buy the Cintiq16 sometime this year.

    It's the same pressure sensitivity (2048 ps) as the Cintiq 13hd, but it's an older model.
    I suggest that if anyone wants to purchase a Wacom Cintiq product but don't want to pay astronomical amounts, they should look into older models like 21ux or 12wx. It's worth the price difference.

    Great video, You're amazing! It deserves to buy because of it's low price point. If what you need is the best best pen with no compromises this is it. The downsides are that this does not have a laminated display so you have some parallax and there are also no shortcut keys on the device.
    however, had my attention taken by the XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro as well. The digital pen of the Artist 15.6 Pro is also really good and jitter free. The addition of a laminated screen is a nice addition and really reduces parallax.

    Aaaa, man, I want.
    I actually bought into the Kamvas Pro 13 thing after it got some favorable reviews, and for being the price it was.
    I've been having a genuinely good time with it, but there are just a series of tiny irks with it that have kinda condensed into a headache. Returning it and picking this up in a week or two. Won't hurt to have the extra real-estate either. The 13 inches are workable, but having just a couple more up and down will be much appreciated

    • @tolula9927
      @tolula9927 5 лет назад

      Frankly, the Chinese tablets aren't really that much cheaper compared to this when you take the quality, durability, and most importantly, drawing experience, into account.
      I had a Huion a couple of years back that suddenly stopped working after 6 months.
      I'm seeing good reviews for the new XP-Pen 15.6 Pro. But what keeps me from purchasing it over Cintiq 16 is durability. I intend to use it for a least a few years. Cintiq has a good reputation in that regard, the others are unproven.
      Some of those tables are reported to cause issues for left-handed people. Something to consider is you're a leftie like me.

    • @AuburnnSkies
      @AuburnnSkies 5 лет назад

      @@tolula9927 Yeah I actually wound up getting the Cintiq 16. Amazon let me return my Kamvas even though I was past my return date.
      I got a defective 16 and had to wait another week and a half to get a replacement, which has an annoying speck of dirt under the film over the screen.
      Aside from that and I guess the color gamut compared to the Kamvas, much better product. Pen is fantastic, the size feels a lot bigger than I thought it would, only being a couple inches, and the calibration is great.
      Really happy with it, will give it another few years for the alternative brands to catch up before I consider them again.

    Another relevant difference, depending on what you’re used to and how you work, is that this one has a considerably lower color gamut. @@LaovaanArtOn my desk this isn't generally a problem, but it is a bit messy. but I wonder if the expresskeys would still be useful if you put the tablet the other way up with the buttons on the other side? It'd fix the cable being in the wrong place issue anyway. :D (but the buttons would be on the wrong side I know.. possibly ok tho?) It's got me curious enough to try it in left handed mode anyway, having to do hand-crossover occasionally might not cause any problems. It's already made my setup look neater, at least!

    How is the connection with the 3-in-1 cable? Is it wobbly as the Cintiq 13HD connector?
    I'm struggling to find information on this, which I think is a huge issue with Wacom. They have a long history of really crappy connectors that break loose inside the devices and pretty much bricks them.

    Thank you for your video! Among all the others on youtube, I found additional information there, such as about the latency, or that the tilt sensitivity of the pen is a nice feature, but useless, if the software does not support it. Or the short sequence, where you adjusted the γ-curve of the pen: There were a few options for the software in use, and "others". Hence. I wonder, which software maxes the capabilities of the tablet and the driver. Which one do you use? Very helpful video, and thank you again!

    great review Laovaan ! .. Im debating myself what to get .. if this cintiq 16 or a huion (the kamvas 20inch or the 22 inch) .. taking the size out of equation .. maybe you remember how was the feeling drawing with huion gt 220 v2 ? how it compares to wacom new cintiq pro pen 2 Im an owner of a cintiq companion 2 with 16 gb ram an an i7 (I bought it second hand) and I have an ipad pro 12.9 Im feeling way more comfortable working with the apple pencil .. and maybe Im wrong but in my opinion one of the keys here is that wacom took out the very thin filament acrylic glass (?) of the cintiq pro 16 and replaced with just regular ( 1 or 2 mm. millimiter ) glass like on regular cintiq 13 hd . of course this is my opinion .. for some people this would not represent a big deal.

    Wacom Cintiq's are currently considered the gold standard but their monitors and tablets start at over $600 new so that is out of the question for most people and definitely not worth it for a beginner.
    I suggest getting this XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro drawing display, wider color gamut of 88% NTSC and laminated screen Compare to Wacom cintiq 16.

    How do you like the screen color and brightness? I use a UGEE at work and the screen resolution, color, and brightness are horrid. The Yiynova I used to have at home wasn't much better. (plus both have smooth glass surfaces and I want the etched feel of the Wacom) I don't mind not having express keys as I don't use them, but I don't want to always have to color proof art on my iMac screen because the tablet color space is so far off. Thank you for your time!

    tbh even though it's the cheapest cintiq I would rather for budget artist to buy an alternative like huion. Yes Wacom has premium quality that I have experienced but if you're a budget artist that is starting out I would recommend buying an alternative instead.

    Mhh, the missing express keys are a huge turn off for me, they are crucial for my work flow.
    Tbh, 600$ for a display with (good) pressure sensitivity is a lot. You get a tablet for painting, changing the height and expresskeys are a must if you are spending that much money imo.

    Perfect. They finally realized they were taking a hit on sales by the competition. Now huion and company will have to:
    A) Improve quality to wacom standards (I love xp pen and huion, I'm not saying they are trash)
    B) Drop their prices
    See guys? This is why competition is good for us clients.

    “only 599”? When I started drawing, back in the years, I did not have more than 50€ to spend and when I’ve managed to buy my first basic Wacom which was about 80€ I had to work a lot to allow myself those 30 extra bucks ( I was even very young and I was studying). Now I own an iPad Pro ( I’ve received as a gift for my 25 years cause I could still not afford that), and I have to say that these tablets are complicated and starting with one of these is not necessarily the best option. I felt bad when I was younger that I could not buy a more expensive one but now I’m glad I did and that I’ve practiced with the basic ones before spending even more than 100 when I was still learning the first steps of the digital art. This said, 599 is still a lot and if you cannot manage to buy it don’t feel bad about it and look for even lower prices and used ones. And I still use, besides my ultra powerful super expensive iPad Pro, my lovely 80€ Wacom who still did not leave me after all my angry first sketches and god only knows how much I’ve scratched it. Not only that but I own even a cheap less known brand which still works great. ( which was around 45€) I just wanted to share my story cause I see a lot of people in the comments saying that they still cannot afford these “cheap” versions of great tablets but don’t worry, look for alternatives cause the only thing that matters at the end is drawing and you don’t need necessarily these type of things to do it. I did invest tho in programs before buying expensive tablets cause the better the program, the more you can do to your works. Hope it helps ⭐️

      Yeah I agree, I started with a graphire 4 back then, and went over bamboo to intuos to the cintiq13hd and it took over ten years to use a monitor tablet. Last year I reviewed the new intuos mediun tho, which is the new gen of bamboo. And the comments where all beginners complaining they wanted to start with a monitor tablet. Thats why I included, that while I wouldnt recommend it to beginners because of the price, its still an option in case you need to work on a screen. Because the demand nowadays for such tablets is just higher than ever ^^
