@@mobiletechreview I am too. :) I'm sold. It's a great entry-level pen display with Wacom's expected quality, and until I can afford and utilize 4k resolution with a Pro 24, it's going to be a great addition to my arsenal. I get to retire my old Intuos 5 and enter a whole new level of fun.

I want to see this tablet and others disassembled. Because no ones does that, even though that reveals some really important notes about build quality. Because performance is important, but so is the quality of the construction of the device. Like are they using cheap capacitors, do they proper attach imput ports to the board, and more. After all if you are spending hundreds of dollars on something, don't you want to know it will actually last?

I wish I had known this was coming out, I purchased a Cintiq Pro 13 in the black friday sales as I couldn't afford the 16. I also have a Huion but the drivers don't work with my PC and my macbook as the pen is always stuck on eraser with the huion. The cintiq pro 13 is only standard HD and this new 16 is also only HD but you benefit with larger screen size and cheaper price than the pro 13 :(. If I had known would defiantly have purchased this instead!

    • @sloppynyuszi
      @sloppynyuszi 5 лет назад +2

Lewis Gilbert well to cheer you up, with the 13 pro you get 1440p resolution on a smaller screen so the ppi count is higher. You get touch input so you can pinch zoom and rotate (a feature I use a lot), and can’t use on this product. If you are using a Mac the USB c cables mean less dongles action. I use software that needs usb dongles to work, I like to plug it into my Cintiq instead of computer, and the pro models let you do that. The pro models have no airgap, this one does. Although I see everyone generally giving positive reviews for this product, they did cut back a lot, and not sure how those out dated Calle solutions are actually cheaper? Wouldn’t a single usbC be cheaper for them in 2019?

The cintiq 16 has quite a bit of parallax in comparison to the much cheaper kamvas pro 16. I had to go through returning and buying them both to find that out. I'm going back to the Kamvas pro because the parallax is like .5 mm vs the 2 to 3 mm on the Cintiq. Anyone here saying the parallax isn't an issue isn't doing precisely line tracing. No matter how many times or ways I attempted to citrate the Cintiq my lines were off by a millimeter in the corners. I had no issues with the Kamvas, although the Kamvas ended up losing calibration and I couldn't get it back to being accurate. I'm getting another Kamvas sent to me and trying it out on a different computer to see if I have better luck. The Cintiq has a matt finish yes, but it definitely does not feel like paper.
I also find it very hard to believe the experience on the cintiq pro is the same, given it has bonded glass and near zero parallax. I'm hoping my next Kamvas stays calibrated or I won't have any other option but buying the cintiq pro for 2 grand!

Hello Lisa, how much do you think of a step-up is this compare with the very old Cintiq 12wx? I've been using the 12wx for many years so I wanted an upgrade now, but don't know whether this model has the amount of improvement that's worth the investment, or I should really consider a major step-up and invest on the 22 (It's affordable but still a very very tight call for my budget that I wouldn't wanna push unless necessary).
One thing is I don't ever use the buttons on the 12wx so the 16 is completely fine without them. The screen of 12wx is definitely too small but still usable in my standard, but I don't know whether if 15.6 inches will see much of an improvement since I've yet to experience it myself.
Would be really appreciate if you can share your experience and thoughts on this.

Lisa, I was going to purchase based on your review but then XP Pen announced the Artist 15.6 Pro with a laminated screen and pen tilt. This would seem to solve the parallax issue that you didn't like with the prior XP Pen offerings. It also appears much lighter than the Wacom and has a USB-C cable for a less cluttered wire situation. Are you planning on reviewing the Artist 15.6 Pro? Would love to know what you think before I take the plunge on one of them. Thanks again and I've been a long time reader/viewer!

Any news on whether Wacom are going to bring out a budget model in the 20-24 inch range? I'd like a larger screen, but I can't really justify dropping 2k on a pro 24 as a hobbyist, and the current wacom alternatives in that range don't really appeal to me.

I used to go every year, these days it's not as necessary thanks to the many pre-briefings from manufacturers that I attend.

First of all, thanks for the throughout review.
How would you grade it compare to XP pen 22pro?
It’s said that XP 22pro have higher gamout ( 77-82% RGB) but in every review I’ve seen on RUclips it break into pixels.
I’m considering buying either Cintiq 16 or Xp pro 22. They’re about the same price. No doubt the pen performance on Wacom top notch, but how about displaying and performance?
    I’m thankful for any answer!

Gosh, I'd love to upgrade from my old Wacom Bamboo Pen&Touch but I would need to win that lottery. Maybe one day... I've tried going for a cheaper Chinese monitor/screen tablet but the distance between the pen and the screen where the lines showed up was so jarring that it was a huge disappointment and I returned it. :/ Sadly it seems like only Wacom knows how to make these in good quality. Thank you for the review! That's exactly what I needed. :)

Very nice video, that was so helpful, thank you so much. Do you know if this tablet can be used as a regular Intuos? I mean, turn of the screen and use it with the regular monitor?

wacom should sell it at $500 I mean wothout stand and xpress key ... look at that thick bezzel omg ... yes pro pen 2 is the best ... but those is not made in Japan anymore, so they could be less greedy :D

Well, I'm quite sure for this price point it has by far the best pen experience you can get. Sure, the accessories for some of their competitor's products are better, but the quality of the drawing itself is unmatched in that price region.

I see people complaining about bezzels on these types of devices, but no one understands that you actually want them to rest your hand somewhere!

I don't get why people care about express keys when you are better off just using your key board with your off hand. That way you have full access to all the shortcuts, and just more options.

Would you recommend this tablet for editing in PS CC 2020.
Most things i see in the video is about drawing.
I only ( at this moment ) use it to edit photo's or combing photo's.
Thanks for the video and response.

I'm looking for a mid range drawing tablet that also has a 'tablet mode' function like the Cintiq Pro's. So you can use the tablet with the screen off like a standard tablet device and use the main monitors to review your work. Do the XP-PEN, Huion's or Cintiq 16 have this option?

Hello from Scotland. Thank you for this review, it was really helpful. I'm a new Web Design business (just self-employed) and thinking about getting something like this as want to design websites using something like this rather than a mouse. I'll also offer logo designs etc. I think I just need to work out if this one or the pro is the one I decide on.
Hope you are safe and in good health. x

Hello Lisa, thanks for the review, very useful (although I did not understand everything, I'm Italian 😞).
I have a question: I have an awesome Cintiq 21UX from 2012 but, now, for reasons of space and weight, I have to change it. Is this new Cintiq 16 better, the same or worse than my UX? I refer specifically to the colors because I use Photoshop and Painter to paint realistic images with many colors and accurate shades.
Thank you, I hope so much in your answer.

    • @DSLOOGS

I use a 21UX as well and this appeals to me for it's smaller form factor (for portability). It seems like a sideways upgrade though as it has practically the same features (minus the buttons) of the 21UX. It doesn't seem like a downgrade to me. OH and you get that new sweet sweet pen from wacom with this model.

Thanks for the review. I currently use a Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 Creative Pen & Touch Display (older model) . Would this new 16" non-Pro version be an improvement? Thanks!
