SKYWATCH - a Sci-Fi Short Film
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 дек 2024
- SKYWATCH is a sci-fi proof of concept written & directed by Colin Levy. Six years in the making, funded via Kickstarter, and crafted by volunteering artists across the world.
Starring young up-and-comers Uriah Shelton (13 REASONS WHY, LOOKING FOR ALASKA) and Zach Callison (STEVEN UNIVERSE, THE GOLDBERGS), the short also features a cameo by Jude Law.
When two outcast teens hack into a ubiquitous drone delivery system to pull a prank on their neighbor, they accidentally crash-land a dangerous prototype - and find themselves entangled in a life-and-death conspiracy.

Thanks so much for the incredible response, everyone! Please help us share the short - our goal is to make a feature film and any momentum we can build online will certainly help. Loving the enthusiasm!
I'll definitely watch your feature film when it's done, enjoyed the short a lot.
Too bad it's a short. I would have watched the entire film.
UPDATE the IMDB and WIKIPEDIA... I looked through both. There is no mention of Jude Law, or no mention of the short on the page of Jude Law.
Fantastic opening! Sharing this with my screenwriting class. :)
I would definitely spend money to go see this. This is an awesome idea
Props for not having Jude Law's 12-second cameo in the thumbnail. Shows that you truly believe this project can hold its own, it was great!
Nico why would he instead he got an entire video about having Jude law in a movie
Jude Law used to be the thumbnail and I think there is nothing wrong with that
Jude Law's character works as a thumbnail, especially if you've got him looking menacing - he represents the enemy in the short film. But the kid is the one who carries it, and he does it well.
I think that was Phil Collins?
All the people that just had their package dropped are gonna be pissed
Maybe drones automatically send for replacements? Then there is no problem, just a little delay
I believe all of them disliked this video =)
have you got all your gifts on Amazon yet or have they gone missing?
Some studio needs to throw millions of dollars at Colin to make this into a feature ASAP
Nope.
They might have the concept and the skill to produce it but that's not everything.

Every so often, you come across a short film that's pretty good but still feels amateurish.
This isn't the case here.
This is next level. Genuinely one of the best proof of concept shorts ever put online.
It becomes clear that the people involved in this aren't messing around. They are professionals that pretty much deserve a feature film by the end of the short.

Hey Andrew
Ugh... As a fellow film-maker, I have to say this is one of the slickest, most well-crafted short films I've seen. The effects are great, but more impressive to me is the story-telling. Simple concept, sharp script, great shot choices - a very solid and genuinely entertaining film.

Okay, so this short film has better quality CGI than most Hollywood movies. Also acting is amazing. I only wish that this was a 45 min Pilot of the newest Sci-fi thriller series, instead of a shortfilm. Amazing work!
Goladden couldn’t agree more
They worked on it for 6 years or so tho
@@anonimanonim6153 According to Google, it takes on avarage 2 year and 4 months to make a Hollywood movie.
Compared to budget and people working on it, it still puts many Hollywood productions to shame.
I'm not here to argue though, it's just my opinion. :)
@@Goladden When it comes to short films, you can make it look cinematic with production time and resources spent. A 6 year project for 8-10 minutes? It is interestingly told. The audience is dropped in the middle of the action and still there is so much exposition snuck in there, as if this is part of a huge world which the characters really inhabit. This is the opposite of current VFX cinema, were everything gets spelled out and were the universe ends exactly where the frame ends.

Damn the cinematography looks like on a high budget hollywood production, also the music and sound design!!!
I just want to point out how satisfyingly good the "hacking" tech interfaces are on the screens. Decently real terminal consoles and not stupidly fake, flashy sci-fi interfaces for "hacking". As a programmer who regularly uses text-based interfaces, this wasn't total BS like all of Hollywood is. Wonderful job!
Exactly!!!!!
Agreed 100%!
Those fancy graphical "interfaces" in scifi movies, and even in modern era onvestogative shows like CSI, NCIS, Criminal minds, etc just cheese me out.

Yeah...like why do delivery drones have gas canister weapons. Why was it so easy to turn on that setting? If they wouldn't have turned on the setting would the drones still have attacked them for messing with their shit? Or did they turn on a program that turned the drones aggressive to people who messed with them? How has this happened before if they just turned on the setting? Theres obviously an entire underground group devoted to fighting delivery drones gone bad. So did everyone in that group hack the drones, turn on that setting and then get attacked first? That just doesn't make sense maybe im missing something. Of course it all needs more context I guess but that just seems convoluted. Like okay you have to hack into this delivery drone service, then turn on a bad setting and then if youve done something bad the drones attack you or they attack you for turning on...the setting?

Chris Pichado Indie Film Hustle. Just Shoot it. Making Movies is hard. Film Riot. In Love with the Process. Indy Mogul.
Blend That Film thank you! I had no idea Film Riot had a podcast!
@@cpichado Great question, thank you for asking! I am going to immerse.
@@BlendThatFilm Thank you for this list. Future bliss, is what I am thinking.
MAKE THIS A FEATURE MOVIE, I NEED MORE.
This is incredible I'm literally speechless
The VFX, acting, writing, everything just meshes together to make this beautiful video that really needs to be a feature-length film because I'm left wanting so much more
Great job!
I agree
