I feel the falmer are the rapist, the goblins in Cyrodiil look too friendly to be the rapist monsters. The falmer, i mean come on it makes more sense IMO
I don’t think that I’ve ever heard of the goblins given an adequate origin story but I think that there’s three possibilities: 1) They’re offshoots of proto-aldmer that immigrated to the Summerset Isles early on in Tamerial’s history for some unknown reasons. 2) They, like the ancient Yokudans, don’t originate in Nirn. 3) They’re a byproduct of creation not influenced by any deity. My vote is for the first option, personally.
In Oblivion, I loved the simple quest of killing the goblins so those people could continue building their village, I just wish the village got bigger over time
Goblins should of been all over Falkreath Hold and the Reach. I imagine the Falmer would of frightened them from delving into caves and underground and we should of seen more surface camps and goblins that live in trees or on cliffs. I recall in TES Arena, you could encounter goblins in Skyrim.
I used to love stealing the staff from one group of goblins and hiding it in the shaman chamber of a different group, then waiting and watching as they charge in and war on eachother.
More so intelligent, tribal goblins should be a playable race in the next elder scrolls. Supposedly the goblins and ogres of HighRock and HammerFell lived in cities with the Orcs back in the first era. Maybe some of them have retained that civility?
I think the real reason we don't see Goblins in Skyrim is that the only aggressive, intelligent, non-playable races in Skyrim, are not widely accepted as real. The falmer are often dissmissed and most of their attacks om the surface are put down to bandits. The main exception are Hagravens who were once people, and Giants who may have the same herritage as Nords. On top of this Falmer are much more powerful than Goblins. They are amongst the most dangerous enemies you can find, wielding powerful magics, poisons, and armour made from the extremely tough chitin of a monsterous insect. Then they mostly exist very deep underground, with plenty of dwarven automations between them and the rest of the world.
Could the goblins of Cyrodil actually be the result of Dwemer poisoning and thus mutating another group of mer, perhaps some of the Ayleids or even someone else?
I'm personally of the belief all the "savage" races get a bad wrap. The little guys can get alot done, they tame things, and it might not be daedric armor or anything; but they make stuff, some looks pretty neat.
13:20 Rieklings are likely an Arctic offshoot of goblins and have much the same behaviours except that at least one tribe showed interest in learning the common tongue also while they are most common on solstiem they do show up on Skyrim if you ha e done the thirsk mead hall quest line on the riekling side which means they do live within Skyrim’s borders
"Nah man those goblins that raided your homestead and killed your family are sentient okay. They understood what they were doing was wrong so don't be so oppressive with your notion that they are just bandits and vermin okay."
And the fact that they're basically just damage sponges with 0 chance of ever killing you in the end game. Armed with an iron dagger, but more hp than a xivilai. It's madness. I swear, it's almost like Sheogorath lovingly crafted the enemy leveling system.
It would have been interesting to see clans of Goblins and Falmer fighting within the depths of Dwemer ruins for supremacy but yeah that would have put less emphasis and intrigue on the Falmer. They would have been a secondary enemy instead of the main enemy if done wrong. I like Goblins and like the Falmer they always scare me and I hate fighting them, but they are interesting species.
Yo wtf. I started a new game in skyrim and made a conjuring illusion sneaking assasing khajit. First time i play like this and damn i gotta say the whole game feels completely different. In some of the lore it says that the altmer created them
@@the_dropbear4392 Huh. I always assumed they were an offshoot of the Orsimer
That was mentioned in the video
Did any of you actually watch the video? All these points are addressed lol
FudgeMuppet: "Goblins may be more sapient than we are yet willing to admit."
*Goblin Slayer hits Fudgemuppet over the head with the hilt of his sword.* "The only thing that matters is that they die."
Nah, Goblin Slayer does recognize their intelligence in his universe - he explicitly makes sure to think forward, make plans and be prepared for a surprise. He knows that the goblins are slowly learning and improving. None of those things matter though - he still hates them
This is what I came here for! Cooler than reiklings. These guys are always goblin up all my food! I like these guys I wish I could have them as friends along with Reiklings maybe some falmer cause degenerative little buggers could make for loyal servants! Treat them well and you have a good army. Come wild elves! Orcs, goblins, armored trolls gremlins and ogre folk uncle sam wants you! Green skins unite!
Mark Allan ogres, trolls and wild elves do not have green skins.
No, I am not fun at parties.
@@zamathellama9708 but some trolls have green fur!
As a fan of the goblins in Warhammer, I've had a lot of fun playing Skyrim as a Goblin Mercenary and also a Night Goblin Shamen. I called one 'Dodgy Geeza' as a nod and a wink to the Special Skill you can acquire in Total War:WARHAMMER.
@@zamathellama9708 they are related: goblins ogres and orcs according to some scholars.
Hell they once lived in orsinium in peace.
MEDIA MAGNET Beware the green tide! Da boys need more dakka dakka for the WAAAGH! Green tide!
Finding their warbosses in the ruins of Old Mounhold was a pain in the ass. I have to give Helseth props for trying to make an army out of them, they were difficult to kill.
For something universally hated there's certainly enough of them under and around the imperial city
I love goblins its the perfect starter enemy , and theyre just a cool fantasy monster
Yeah perfect starter enemy, see how that ended for the rookies 😂
Wait until they kidnap and rape your women! -goblin slayer
I just got the creation club goblins. I combined it with a mod that adds goblins into the world in the woods where predators would be. "TDG's Goblins around Skyrim"
I really enjoy smaller lore videos like this. These are the ones I usually click on, since I already know all about things like Red Mountain and all that.
Also, Goblin Slayer reference.
*Doom music starts playing*
Charming & righteous! Justice for Goblinkind.
Hey, at least these ones don't do lewd stuff to our waifus
they like it
I think “lewd” is a bit of an understatement...
Only because there's no waifu grade characters in the ES. Except Adoring Fan of course.
I feel the falmer are the rapist, the goblins in Cyrodiil look too friendly to be the rapist monsters. The falmer, i mean come on it makes more sense IMO
@@bignwah6905 you n'wah.
I was really hoping you went into greater detail I really like listening to this.
I just want a big kingdom of goblins, trolls, ogres, and orcs
Sauron led them to defeat.
Play wow
I don’t think that I’ve ever heard of the goblins given an adequate origin story but I think that there’s three possibilities:
1) They’re offshoots of proto-aldmer that immigrated to the Summerset Isles early on in Tamerial’s history for some unknown reasons.
That was informative. I appreciate your input on the es world lore.
It's nice to know that my favorite RUclipsrs like the same anime that we like
Some species of ants keep aphids as "cows", so it's not necessarily required for a species to be sapient to domesticate other animals.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm aphid milk
Great video, Drew! You answered all the questions I didn’t know to ask!
I love that beautiful oblivion music in the background as you narrate the goblin story
You could say that people really want to *slay* them.

@@Justanobody8472 its a reference to an anime called Goblin Slayer where a guy slays Goblins for revenge. I think
+nbutler1993 u can already play as a goblin in world of warcraft
True and fuck world of war craft
Just play Styx: Master of Shadows, or Styx: Shards of Darkness. It's basically the closest we will get to a Goblin Simulator.
time coldslow What does that have to do with Goblins in Elder Scrolls????
FlyingGothicSheer refer to my comment above this one. 👆
Perhaps their treatment and slavery by the more “civilised” races of Nirn led them to be so brutish and aggressive towards them
Yeah pretty hard to develop culture and writing if yer always getting killed and enslaved.
Look they might be ugly but they are just the same as orc's and other elfs
Dumb and ugly like the rest of all races
I always liked fighting these guys in oblivion, it just felt so right after waking up in the morning
Could the goblins of Cyrodil actually be the result of Dwemer poisoning and thus mutating another group of mer, perhaps some of the Ayleids or even someone else?
Goblins: Reviled, hated, hunted, slaughtered.
Also Goblins: still more loved than Nazeem
I love goblins. Goblin hunting is incredibly lucrative. Also they a valuable source of souls.
I'm personally of the belief all the "savage" races get a bad wrap. The little guys can get alot done, they tame things, and it might not be daedric armor or anything; but they make stuff, some looks pretty neat.
Goddammit. I should of known id find goblin slayer banter
*now give me a stamina and a health potion*
13:20 Rieklings are likely an Arctic offshoot of goblins and have much the same behaviours except that at least one tribe showed interest in learning the common tongue also while they are most common on solstiem they do show up on Skyrim if you ha e done the thirsk mead hall quest line on the riekling side which means they do live within Skyrim’s borders
We really should have gotten Goblins in Skyrim than just the Rieklings
Mihail Romanov would like to know ypu location
Your
Aren't Rieklings a type of goblin that that over the generation changed into the ones we see in skyrim and morrowind
I think the "goblins a not intelligent enough to be domesticated themselves" is more that the goblins don't want to be enslaved by someone.
imagine playing as a goblin, true shit
"Come fight like a Goblin...wait Orc!" - Generic Goblin in Dark Messiah: Might & Magic
well there're nott the bravest, and most hate the water.

13:18 That's a good point, the Falmer are a force to be reckoned with in their own right.

Reikling slayer approves too.
Goblin slayer approves that goblin shouldn't be enslaved or hunted but treated as equals to the other races?
I absolutely love using the shadowsilk gem in ESO to take on the appearance of a goblin
Always hated them in oblivion, for the noises they make, but loved them for their hilarious ragdolling on death
And the fact that they're basically just damage sponges with 0 chance of ever killing you in the end game. Armed with an iron dagger, but more hp than a xivilai. It's madness. I swear, it's almost like Sheogorath lovingly crafted the enemy leveling system.
The only good goblin is a dead one
It would have been interesting to see clans of Goblins and Falmer fighting within the depths of Dwemer ruins for supremacy but yeah that would have put less emphasis and intrigue on the Falmer. They would have been a secondary enemy instead of the main enemy if done wrong. I like Goblins and like the Falmer they always scare me and I hate fighting them, but they are interesting species.

Id love an elder scrolls in the future where goblins finally gain a place in society and become playable
In tamriel? Nope not gonna happen, even the argonians aren't all that free
The playable goblin race is a cool idea tho
Now we need a mod that adds "I'm here to kill goblins" as your greeting for every npc you talk to.

I love the look of the Beyond Skyrim goblins!

I want to see a playable goblin race
Yo wtf. I started a new game in skyrim and made a conjuring illusion sneaking assasing khajit. First time i play like this and damn i gotta say the whole game feels completely different. Mostly i just stormed in with heavy armor rating above 700 with deadric sword and shield or a 2handed vampire with the ebony blade. Or a destruction war mage who storms in with that fire explosion spell and just roast em all. But this playtrough is the best one. But my favorite is still my bosmer archer with dragonbow just fucking em all up. Damn.... skyrim 😍
Even in Oblivion, I've always felt sorry for the goblins.
