Hi Matt . Just a correction on the long runway at Upington. It was built before the space shuttle, it was made for SAA and their newly acquired Boeing B747 aircraft. In a nutshell the jumbos could not make the trip to Europe from Joburg as it is considered hot and high. The aircraft was loaded in Johannesburg and flown to Upington with minimum fuel load where it was fuelled to max for the trip. The very long runway and lower altitude made this possible. With time the B747s and it’s engines were modified to improve fuel efficiency and performance. Flights to Europe were made possible after that from Jan Smuts. Thanks for the great channel ❤️😊
I have only been to 40 countries, but your opinion is subjective. I don't think South Africa has the tropical beauty of the Hawaiian Islands or the majesty of the Rocky Mountains.
Watching this series for the 3rd time. As always your presentation is top draw...well done! Your unselfish commitment to sharing these fantastic trips and now more of our neighbors has sparked myself a cpl of friends and family into looking to do a similar tour. We would like to maybe include Mozambique (if time allows) Will let you know how the planning goes (looks like June 2025) Thanks for all the time and effort you put into producing these master pieces They are an invaluable part of research when planning anything similar Keep it up bud. Amazing job
I was sold 30 seconds into the episode...I came here from Part 2, and said nahhh I have to see this one first. Nice group of people you going with. This is the type of travel I dig.
Matt, I must complement you, your comment, presentation and photography is absolutely great. We actualy drove the Baviaans-Kouga mountain trip Dec 2022, based on one of your youtube videos. Looking forward to episode 2.
Excited to follow this latest adventure of yours . Really do enjoy your posts and vids, and no boring footage …. Just exactly what us overlanders enjoy . Well done and thanks for sharing 🙌🙌
Matt, love the videos dude. If I had to 4x4, camp and adventure, I would do it like you, you seriously know your stuff, and you guys' vibe is what makes me enjoy this so much. Never stop china
Amazing! Your video videography is epic. Your videos always tell a story which is compelling to watch. Already looking forward to the next episode. Really well done, as always! 😊
Howzit. I want to start by saying you have an awesome channel and I do enjoy the videos. The content is great, the information is great (some of which I have used to plan a trip or two of my own). I have been fortunate enough to travel to Namibia, the Kalahari, Kgalagadi etc on a few occasions. My only criticism of your Grand Tour is the amount of time/days you have given yourselves to cover the 6500kms around Southern Africa. I fear you have spent far too much time driving each day and in doing so you have missed out on the full experience. Southern Africa is an amazing place with so much to see and experience and do.... In my opinion you should slow down a bit, take your time, experience more. Remember, this is Africa, nothing happens in a hurry. Safe travels! Look forward to the next video.
Looking forward to the next episodes Matt. Want to see how that stock standard Hilux handles the trip. Upgrades to your vehicle look awesome, I would've kept the original quickpitch awning you had though, but I suppose a awning is a awning, check you later boet, enjoy.
What a awesome trip Matt thanks for bringing it to my lounge. Planning on doing something like this mid year. Seems like a fair amount of homework and prep went into it.
Great video, dream of a trip. Augrabies, imo, really one of the hottest places in SA 🥵🥵, a little hotter than Upington. Godspeed for the rest of your journey, now the real sterts as soon as you enter Namibia, you'll see... 😜
Hi Matt. We love your videos and always look forward to the next one! Please can you tell me what video editing software you use and what you would suggest for a beginner? thanks
Lekker Matt. Is this trip completed already? Or are editing on the fly? Sure I saw you drive down buffelsfontein a few weeks back. Looking forward to the rest of the adventure! 😀
Hi 😅, am a camper fan, I thought Suid-Afrika didn't have camping spots like Australia. Until I found you😅. Question if I may, someone like me who don't know about camping, where do I find the camping spots and what roads do I need to follow
185$ USD to fill your fuel tank! OMG! I complain if it's more than 90$ USD in my GMC SIERRA V8 4X4 : )! In the USA thats 33 gallons not 21-23 for my truck on average so yeah maybe that's not so terrible after all. thank you for your time, video , and investment.
I found your later episode, decided to begin here. Well produced, well narrated.

Thanks Mr. Brewer for the history of Upington runway. I am a proud Upingtonian and likes to read about the history of my town. 🙏
South Africa is the best country I’ve ever visited and its not even close. I’ve been to 50+ country.
I have only been to 40 countries, but your opinion is subjective. I don't think South Africa has the tropical beauty of the Hawaiian Islands or the majesty of the Rocky Mountains.

What a great start! Are you able to take along any Airguns?
Unfortunately not! No airguns allowed in Namibia, and no guns allowed in national parks.

Hey Mat. Is there any way to contact you. Would love to do this trip myself
As soon as you pack a 4x4 and head somewhere to use it, always be prepared for drama. It is inevitable.
Man, I envy you...
When is the next episode
Did anyone tell you that you look like the WWE wrestler Drew Macintyre or the other way round,😄
Please let Nicole to do some presentation as well .....
😢
Unimog
I'm proudly South African and hearing someone call a bakkie a truck makes me cringe. 🤦♂️
