Mine smoked the clutch out of the box. Then blew up the motor bearing 2nd battery. After that it overheated every time and went into protection mode. I switched to castle and upgraded to mip axles and billet motor plate with big bearing. It works now. But $600 later.
Mine also killed the clutch/spur out of the box in 2 batteries due to the motor not being tightened. Then after swapping the gear out, the motor gears set screw backed off killing it again. Emailed traxxas with the issues and they chalked it up as “this hobby is one where stuff breaks sorry.” Kind of pissed me off considering owning it for 24hrs and something breaks, 72 hours and two failures due to QC issues. Definitely gets hot, I bought the cheap fan/heat sink opposed to the traxxas branded and it’s been handling it well. If you buy this definitely tighten and look over everything before driving the first time. Unfortunate
it's better to use a whole different remote. i use a futaba. your can really dail in the settings to make it handle like a kit car. also a shorty pack is a good way to save weight.
At first I was like " heelllllllllnooooo " yeap I have had four and built two of them so yeah its all hobby . great buy . its funner to build one though you can get the cvd driveshafts HR shocks big bore . slash scalpel body. proline wheelset . fast eddy's bearings . savox servo . dumborc remote 6 channel with gyro . lcg chassis .amazon special Aarms aluminum. hobbywing max6 esc with heatsink and fan . 3800kv motor . comes out to a little more than stock but you made it . hobby much lol nice build great buy at stock .
Those sound awesome. Ya it is more fun to build one for a lot of people, including myself. But some people getting into don't always know what the differences are.
I have that exact car i love it and I added OBA. To it this truck fast ...itsmy first electric car all my other trucks are nitroʻ .I'm just worried about all my nitro buddies will laugh at
I love how all the prices were double or even triple of the real price. He really trying to convince himself he made the right decision. Bro said $8 for wheel nuts 😂😂
Too bad the ultimate doesn't come with a center diff or the new extreme heavy duty axles, bearings. The slash 4x4 platform and it's variants are one of the oldest traxxas models and they still can't offer a complete ultimate RTR package for a decent price. Shame traxxas, get your poop together already. Buying all the upgrade parts separately costs over 600$cad and that doesn't include any electronics. Associated Mt10 is half the price and comes with a center diff. New hoss/stampede comes with a center diff and extreme heavy duty kit but still comes with the same crappy 30 year old shocks.
Ya your right. I think this is getting an update soon. They are currently on sale, and the Rustler 4x4 ultimate does have the upgraded axles and carriers. I think they are just getting rid of the old stock. But I don't think it will have a center diff, which I think it should. The Slash Platinum had both but is discontinued.
@@OverBudgetRC ah I forgot they made the platinum. The extreme heavy duty kit that comes on the bl2s models is different and stronger with bigger bearings and axle shafts than the ones that come on the ultimate. I think they have made 4 or 5 different driveshafts at this point, but the newest plastic extreme heavy duty ones are easily the best cost/strength ratio. I mean, I suppose they could have made the typical steel CVD style like every other brand, but they refuse to for some reason. I'm not sure why they are so against using an outdrive cup and a dog bone. The tekno conversion seems to be the strongest most reliable upgrade for axle shafts, even stronger than the x0-1 driveshafts. But then you don't get to run the new bigger bearings in the hubs since that was one of the most recent updates to the chassis.

@ib4217 I looked closer at the rustler 4x4 ultimate, and you're right. They didn't use the bl-2s axles. I thought they did they still suck🤣
