Most people don`t know that Toyota measures average speed in cities and it is a big point when they make hybrid engines. Their results where between 18-22 km/h on average. Yours is 25km/h. So 4.1 is great, but I believe it can be incredible if average speed is under 22km/h. Thank you for this review. Really helpful.

    • @jakubek89
      @jakubek89 5 лет назад

If average speed was lower it would go more time on battery and have lower average. I checked this in my chr, my average speed to work is around 35 if don't obey speed limit, then average consumption 5,2-5,5, if I do obey my average is 30 - 31 and fuel consumption around 4,5

That seemed to fairly accurate for an "intown" commute. I don't think those numbers would hold for suburban commutes of 20+ miles (unless it is all stop and go). Besides fuel economy and reduced hydrocarbon output, regenerative braking in hybrids totally saves the brakes. We owned a Prius and had over 100K miles without need of a brake job.

Fill-up your GAS TANK. Then check the total distance driven once the empty light goes off. Then fill-up again and record how many litters or gallon you put back in the tank. That total distance divided by amount of gas you put back is your MPG. Driving a car for 15km (9miles) and then claim that it's the car's MPG rating would be foolish.

Actually, this is a VERY BAD mpg review. 25km/hr average speed and consumption based on 19km distance traveled. That is very inaccurate and not helpful at all. One should drive a minimum of 50miles and drive an average speed of 65mph to get more of a REAL WORLD MPG. Driving such a short distance and say this was the vehicle's MPG rating will confuse most consumers. 57MPG as depicted on this video? Even a prius can't get that on a "REAL WORLD" driving.
I have a 2017 ACCORD Hybrid. If my Hybrid battery is near full charged, I can get 80MPG on a 5km distance drive from my garage, but it will be dumb to say that my car gets 80MPG.

Toyota and Lexus make the best. My brother who owns a newer Civic said his car doesn't even get as good of gas milage as the rental Camry he had to visit me. Camry is bigger than the Civic, Civic is more of a Corolla sized vehicle, yet can't compete with fuel milage. My brother drove from Dallas to Waco Tx and the Camry was still on a full tank after a couple hours of driving. Sure Honda makes fast cars but if you want reliable and efficient go Toyota or Lexus

Toyota HSD is just superior. I'm totally convinced since I drive an Auris II Touring Sports and I begin to miss the smooth gearbox and electric cruising when I have to drive our company Audi A6 (2018, TDI, DSG). The Audi is nice, but the Toyota somehow feels much better to drive and the whole system is way more efficient and reliable (no turbo, no filter, no high pressure injectors, no gearbox issues, etc.) - it's just well thought and not over engineered with work arounds to get a better pollutant class.

@@YaoiBoy5xx That's why it's called a bridge technology. The fully electric cars cause other problems: Currently you have to use a lot of lithium for the batteries, which is rare and needs a lot of energy to make cells out of it (google: lithium child labor - it really sucks). Toyota Hybrids run with classic NMH-batteries which are much easier to produce, change and recycle. A classic electric grid system (like in the US) will also not be capable of charging millions of electric cars with 22-500kW/h at the same time. We need much more buffer technologies world wide (sun, wind, water, hydrogen) before electric driving becomes the standard. This is the chance to switch to economic energy sources - and just image when ships and planes go eco-electric, too one day.

You can't really control that. You can force it into EVMode but in a real life situation it will jump out of it as soon as you accelerate up over a certain limit and in a city that will happen all of the time. The car automatically controls the electric on and off. If you are eco driving and at low speeds it will be in EV a lot. I have owned mine for 3 weeks tomorrow. I have seen the battery full once, but never empty. I'm not really eco driving though, I pace myself but I don't really try to push it.

The new PHEV is announced for 2021 that out performs this hybrid in speed and efficiency. They could have easily launched both at the same time but they didn't. Toyota want to strategically screw you out of your hard earned money with and "bait n' switch" marketing tactic and guess what... it worked! We're all so inpatient and completely mind f*cked with pseudo information towards the latest "so-called" legitimate technological advancements that we've become gullible consumers. As one post remarked " Wow its over 40 mpg". Are kidding me? That's the bar of standards? As far as true science goes Lithium-ion is sub-par technology that is strictly good enough to charge a power drill on a job site, not a vehicle. It also has many safety implications. The 2nd generation solid-state lithium batteries are much safer and energy dense that will achieve proper long range driving. These are the batteries that will make vehicles worth waiting in the next few years and there is a high probability that the RAV4 2024 - 2025 model will be the first to offer it since Toyota wants to keep its leadership role. Personally, I want an efficient SUV but these current models are not good enough in that respect. Best to keep buying cheap ICE vehicles for the next 4-5 yrs until the real game changing tech happens.

Also with 2 electric motors front and one in the rear your generative breaking gets more efficient.

Overweight and overcomplicated, EVs will be a much better choice when the on-board
    solar-charging takes off.

You don't understand math if you think a solar panel can charge an ev battery

@@John-ep4in Did I say that???? The idea is to optimize on-board charging to give the vehicle better range. Batteries will also get less wear and tear due to decreased deep-cycling.

Dude. My 2018 rdx gets better gas mileage, more power and it's running a v6 and not hybrid. This vehicle for the weight and motor should be pushing 60-68 miles per gallon.

@@FoShizzleMyPizzle yes it does. And it's not hard to hit that with the new variable motors and new higher gear trans. Just stop punching your foot to the floor boards.

An Acura RDX V6 weighs nearly 1.8 tons.
No hybrid electric motor to help with economy.
Only has a 6 speed gearbox.
Has a rated minimum fuel economy figure of 8.6l/100km.
Yet, you say can beat a late model toyota hybrid in terms of fuel economy in stop/start traffic?
Your car simply does not get that.
      Nice try. Thanks for playing.
