I know I’m lucky to be able to buy and build AKs. The world doesn’t know what it’s missing as far as firearms. It’s such a simple well thought out machine for real world situations. It just works.
We have a lot of regulations but in most countrys in Europe you can own firearms. Im from Germany and i can mostly buy what i want as a sport shooter. We have a lot of nonsense rules like 10 round magazine limit for rifles or my favorite the minimal cartridge length for semi auto rifles. A rifle for sport shooting has to have a case length of 40mm or more 5.45x39, 7.62x39, 6.5 Grendel, .300 Blackout are bad. 5.56x45, 7.62x51 or even 12.7x99/50BMG is OK.
Korean war is not end officially and I have to service like a salve in korean base but we can't own any gun. now I am a green card holder and have bunch of rifles and guns. High salary is bonus. Having US citizen or Green card holder is pricless.
As far as I know, you can own legally an AK pattern rifle in all EU countries. A few years prior, we could also have converted full auto rifles like fully original M16 a1 or 50's AR10. ;)
Russia (Molot and Kalashnikov Concern), Poland (FB and WBP), Bulgaria (Arsenal), Serbia (Zastava Arms), East Germany, Egypt (Maadi Company), America (Meridian Defense, Krebs Custom, and Fuller Phoenix), and China (Norinco) make some of the best AK rifles
The reason the AK's work so well in all conditions is the "low" precision specs. Not "high" precision. Gas powered, well oiled and not too precise, makes for a great weapon in the real world. The Blaser R8 is the perfect example of what a "high" spec weapon does on the battle field. Constant jamming, and poor reliability because it's built like an F1 racing car. Not fit for dirt, grit and mud.
I disagree. This weapon was designed for an untrained peasant army. It''s shortcoming are numerous. I would take the M16 any day. It's a weapon for a professional soldier.

From Ukraine, you are correct. According to a couple local gun shop owners in my town, it is what everyone wants (only soldiers and police can buy, of course). "Radyanski AK".
