This video is to answer basic questions regarding "Can you use a home compressor to fill your HPA Tank?"
Also, I just wanted to address that HPA, High PRessure Air, Compressed Air, Nitrogen Tanks are all the same thing. There are 2, and ONLY 2 different types of paintball air systems-
CO2
HPA Systems- this includes High Pressure Air, Compressed Air, Nitrogen etc
No one gives a shit about the propane marker, please don't bring it up.
Enjoy!
Wow, the way its been explained in this 15 year old video is amazing. No one seems to care to explain such basics anymore. Thanks man.
its been 4 years since you uploaded this and it still helps out! Thanks for clearly and concisely answering a question i had trouble finding on forums for a while.
Thank you sir for explaining everything in detail for me. Keep doing what you're doing, its helping a lot of newbies like me.
Weird that this is recommended now. Mike was right at the time but now you can actually get a hand pump that can do 4500 psi; lots and lots of pumping but you can do it. There are also 200 to 300 (possibly cheaper)dollar plug in wall pumps that can do the same.
You could use industrial air compressors such as a 5000 psi operating pressure tanks
Thanks TechPB!!! I'm new to paintball and this helped out a lot... I got a couple industrial tanks I can just get a fill station for that will do the job.
Thanks for the info. Just getting back into paintball after a long time and needed a quick lesson on what's happened
Subscribed. Thank you for these videos. BTW don't you just hate it when the dog has to ruin at the end lol
usually a large sporting goods store will have a scuba department that can refill scuba tanks, HPA, and sometimes CO2. other than that...like you said, dive shop, maybe a paintball store. it really depends on your area.
What about a bigger air compressor?
@OGpyroloco13 it doesnt matter how big the compressor is, it will only compress to about 120 psi like he said. but what you can do is buy what is called a shoebox compressor. it hooks up to a regular air compressor and increases it from 120 to either 3000 psi or 4500 psi dependin on the one you want. it will cost about $450. but if you live somewhere like i do where i have to drive half an hour to get my tanks filled and at least 200 miles to get a scuba tank filled it will come in handy.
yea one of my local fields ambush uses a really expensive compressor like you described, they even have this rig setup so you can fill multiple tanks at once
6:36 If it doesn't have a gauge it's a "wow wow wow !!!!" ????
I am a volunteer fireman, at my firehouse we have a fill station for our Scott bottles, would I be able to fill a tank using that?
yes
If it has a gauge its high pressure air system, if it doesnt have a gauge its a BARK BARK BARK!!! Thanks for tuning in :)
You should be able to get it filled at your local paintball park or shop, and if not there than a dive shop might be able to fill them, depends on if they have the adapter or not though.
2. What would happen to your tank either shooting it or not shooting it if you put CO2 into your HPA System. I by no means want to try and find out for myself because I am sure that would just be purely stupid. I was just wondering if it would damage the tank or whatever else would happen or would it actually work a little bit? I am referring to either Carbon Fiber Wrapped, Fiber Wrapped, or the Aluminum like HPA Tanks. Thank you!
So I have so happen to own a compressor that's capable of compressing 3000 psi. It would work right?
great idea!!
nah! Still have hundreds of show to go!
your question sparked a thought i had if you have a realy good air compressor could you make an attatchment to your gun so that it runs of the air compressor?
send it in to the company that makes it and in the box put a note that says "can you take the regulater off?" and they should do it...but call first!!! hoped it helped
@coolhislop sure... but the actual volume of air that's in the tanks are different. so you might be able to use a hpa for scuba but maybe only for 20 mins. compared to like 2 hours on a scuba tank.
can i turn a hpa or co2 paintball tank into something i can fill my motorcycle tires with????
what if you a compressor like the one in car body shops can that be used to fill them?
Hey great videos by the way.
I can't find any info about using argon instead of co2. I would like to know your expert opinion on that .
Thanks a lot.
you might not be able to fill up your N2 tanks with a compressor, but you can run some guns if you directly hook it up to the gun's ASA. if your guns operates at about 100psi or less then you can do it. of coarse you're gonna need a water filter and fittings but in the end, infinite air right?
@JustStartingOut1 I imagine you'd have to ask them before you used that air station, but you'd be able to. The tank's won't go higher than whatever they're made for, and if they do they (hopefully) have those exhaust points near the top that pop out the brass plug and all the air drains out.
CO2 is only your tank, to upgrade CO2 to air, just replace the tank and you're good to go.
Ive hooked up my air compressor straight to my gun and its awesome, unlimited air!
if you had the right fittings, could you hook up a scuba tank straight to the gun if you regulated the air flow from the tank correctly and low enough?
unfortately it's not the volume, it's the pressure
that airtool only works at about 100psi, so the compressor only works at 100psi, which leaves you about 4,400psi short :-(
I have an air compressor for nail guns and things like that
it is about the same size as an oil drum not sure what psi it goes up to but do think that would work
Thank you. that cleared a lot of things up.
yea you just have to get the fittings and a $800 fill station
See I find this funny.
If you dont like TechPB why are yoi even wasting your time making shirts, and then your time at the post office shipping them out...
Its like they say, there is no better publicity than negative publicity :P
Keep on doing what you're doing Mike, I'll support you in any way I can!
it don't matter how big your air compressor is, like i have one that is an 85 gallon 150 psi compressor, you have to have a compressor that is capable of going to 3000 psi or 4500 psi, for the home use i recommended the shoe box air compressor, it will fill a scuba to 3000 or 4000 psi in about 24 hours and a small paintball on in about 24 minutes. They start at about $550 and go up from there. these are better than buying one like my works which is a $5,000 dollar compressor. hope this helped.
What kind of air compressor is needed for hpa tanks? My dad has a big industrial gas powered air compressor, will something like that work?
yea and no, the nozzles on some tanks let out diffent amount of pressure. theres high, and low nozzles, red and blue. look at mikes high pressure, low pressure video he explains it. p.s im not exactly sure what the vid is called, but never the less, watch ALL of them
Jesus! The dog at the end scared the CRAP outa me!
I have an invert mini, how many hoppers or pods would i get from a 68/4500 tank and how many times would i be refilling in a day?
@babytoys117 yeah, as long as it has the regular pin the it should fill like a normal tank. I'm interested in the knob. I couldn't find a guerilla tank that had any sort of knob other than the normal burst disk on the side. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope you get it figured out!
remote kit
For all the posts bellow---------------v You cant use a house hold compressor for hpa tanks unless you have a shoebox compressor. You can also buy pellet gun pumps for about $150 online that fill up to 3000 psi
go to the scuba place and fill your scuba tank, here its like 9 bucks. then get the adapter. then hook up your bottle and fill it up off of the scuba.
@JustStartingOut1 Yes, you can fill your tank there, but it would be better for you to buy a scuba tank and fill it at work, so that you can use that to fill your tank a number of times, not just once!
hi just wondering if a c02 tank can be filled with nitrogen from a welding supl. store cyl.
After 8 years no one applied to you
use your normal home air compressor with a shoebox compressor hooked up to it.
the one thing is the cables to go from the shoebox to your tank is hard to find and when you do your looking at 125-250 dollars but I use a ninja fill whip extension with a female quick disconnection on both end's should be between 30-60 for fill whip and another quick disconnection.
what about filling a hpa tnak with a large commerical compressor? will that work and what rig would you need to fill the tank if it works
That dog scared the shit out of me at the end!!!
Also some fields will use dry nitrogen welding tanks on a manifold.
My brand new co2 tank isnt puttin any air in my gun, any suggestions ?
surcide ?
Nice vid start with deftones -7 words man, especially in light of recent events
what kind of tape do you put on the bottom of your tank?? and how do you tape it like that?
Hey mike can the scuba shop fill a HPA tank or do they not have the right fittings?
Somehow better results can be obtained from refrigerator compressor, it can pump up to 30bar or maybe even 40bar pressure while tank is rated for 150-200bar
it is not that good, but still much better than air compressor from Walmart.
connecting compressors in series may improve pressure further.
they are worth it you will need a ninja fill whip extension with a female quick disconnection on both ends its the cheapest way to get the job done the whip is rated for 4500 psi i think i only use it with the 3k shoebox so idk if it will blow the hose at 4500 the main reason i got the 3k is because you can fill 3k tanks and 4500 tanks but the 4500 will only go to 3k but most shops will only fill to 2.8k anyways good luck
i have a question can the little 4500 psi tanks be used for both air rifles and paintball guns
How about if you've got a really powerful industrian compressor?
Isn't it possible to fill the tank then?
i have a gigantic one of those because my dad works on stuff and like can i use that? idk how to get like a hose to get the air in my tank
Before i get a nitrogen tank is that just compressed air or accual nitrogen
what size is that Cubic Foot wise, im looking at getting one, but i dont no which size to get, about 5-6 cases "2000 per case" will be enough per session. there will be like 6-7 of us but we never shoot a case each ever
@250killer95 it will work as long as it goes up to 3000 PSI or so. Odds are that it does not. Shop tools (like an air wrench) don't run on HPA. Really only SCBA, SCUBA, and paintballers use HPA. So unless it's a dive shop then it probably won't go over 300 or 400 PSI
Please, I NEED HELP!!! when you attach your CO2 tank or N2 tank to your gun (in my case a spyder electra 09) is that all you need to do? like what im asking is once you attach your tank are your ready to shoot? are do you need to do something else?
u recon you could use like only nitrogen instead of the mix nitrogen/oxygen thats in the air? or will this not work?
Can you use compressed air on any paint ball or is their a specific gun? Don't get mad I haven't played in forever.
@somewhatofaBeast3323
It wont matter how big the compresser is if it is not made for high pressure (3k-4.5k psi) These kinds of pumps have 3-4 stages of pumping to make them work.
If you really want a pump for this, the cheapest quality personal pump on the market ($465 vs $1000+) that fills up to 4500 PSI is a shoebox compressor.(google shoebox compressor)
You still need a oil-less compressor at about 85 psi to run it though.
Have you considered getting a shoebox compressor they are around 650.00 I've seen a few videos where people use them to fill paintball tanks, but I don't trust there opinion like yours can you give it a looks and tell me what you think?
hey mike what about the shoebox compressor are they worth it to purchase one i am looking cuz if i get the room i am setting up a back yard playing field
hey mike whats the difference between nitrogen and compressed air? btw i have a pure energy hpa tank and when i unscrew it from the gun the regulator unscrews a little but
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Video coming up
is compressed air the same as HPA? i was just wondering because I am kind of new to this
so... n2 tanks can be filled with compressed air and compressed air tanks can be filled with n2?
like he said, the air compressor that's used for paintball uses multiple stages and the ones at a car shop only go around roughly 300 400 psi
I have an air compressor for like nail guns and things like that
it is about the size of a oil drum
will that work
Im kinda new to this so is nitrogen the same as compressed air? my gun says co2 and nitrogen capable. I would appreciate the help, Thanx
is it possible to use an air compressor for a nail gun to fill up a tank
can ur tank blow up if u fell it up to much and can u make a vidoe on how to fill it up thanks
carbon fiber or steel tank? which is better and going to last longer
when i firts got my first pb gun...i upgraded to high pressure air.. way better.. sweet... first comment...
hey i am a noob at paintball and thought i could do that and thx for saying that and i do scuba so i can use the scuba tank for scuba and paintball thx
whats different about using a high pressure tank than a low pressure tank
wow that sucks, there is a scuba store by my house, not that close though and they charge $8 and they only filled my tank to like 2300. kinda pissed me off, althought the lady had no clue weather it was possible or not so i gave them credit anyway lol, there is a paintball store that is waaay across town thats only $3-$4. what do you do though? how do you fill your tanks?
Gps is air. Nitrogen is different but not sure if you can or can't use it.
I have an air compressor at home but it's 10 times bigger that that one would it work?
on my hpa tank the nossle fell off when i was unscrewing it off my gun idk what to do what do you think i should do plz respond i need some help thanks
I just got into paintball and got a gun with a 12oz tank. Can my 12oz tank use either compressed air or co2
Where I live they do not have scuba shops however we have a lot of welding shops. Can I go to a welding shop rent a nitrogen bottle and use it like a scuba tank, to fill my hpa tank for my electric marker?
yes
brewskisdodge you can get tanks filled at ace hardware they have co2 nitrogen and if your lucky they might have hpa the store in my town has hpa but they run out fast
What the best hpa tank for a low pressure tank? Thanks
The little tank is thick high grade aluminum wrapped in carbon fiber. The big shop compressor tank is a giant beer can.
The higher the psi the stronger the tank has to be, not bigger.
There are giant bulk tanks that hold 4500psi and more, usually made out of thick steel.
so which one holds more air a 4500 scuba tank at like 133cubic inches or a 4500 90 cubic inches
Whats the difference between co2 and compressed air?
Hey guys I'm new to compressed air I was wondering when I fill my tank at the field and it's on the marker do I have to shut off my asa valve or can I keep it on
What if I have a big ass shop compressor sitting in my garage? Would i just have to watch the pressure gauge, and stop when i hit 3000/45000 psi?
hey guys i was looking for a littel help with making my choice on a hpa tank. What is better Dxs,guerrilla, crossfire, pure engery
thax!!!!
hey mike i figure you would know...i have a tippmann 98 custom and im gonna get a response trigger cyclone feed the whole lot and was wondering if it is possible to convert a 98 to HPA instead of CO2 cause it shoots cleaner, if so what else would i need for it? or would it be cheaper to get a whole new gun aka like a ego or something like that, thank you
almost, some guns, like CCI phantoms can only use co2 unless upgraded
No, you could buy a scuba tank like the one mike has, its about 100-200 dollars get it filled at a diving store, instead of buying a compressor that costs 10000
Could you fill a hpa paintball tank at an airgun store? Would they let you? I don't want to go all the way to a paintball site just to fill it up.
Hey mike, i have a NitroDuck 68ci/3000psi wrapped tank. Do i have to run strictly nitro or can i run compressed air in it.
well the store that i go to to fill up my tank charges like $4 for a 20-24oz. and like $2 for a 9oz.
What is that ?
I mean the Oz and with what do you fill your hpa tank
