    CO2 is necessary if you play woods ball in your backyard. It's not reasonable to have people bring 2 or more HPA tanks to play all day. You can buy 2 CO2 tanks no problem and have them filled up basically anywhere. HPA is only a good idea if you play at a public course.

    Thanks to you I started off with a HPA tank, I have a Ninja 48/3000 for now, I just started playing paintball and I love it, and thanks to you I gain a lot of knowledge. Thanks again and keep up with the great videos.

    Im going to settle this
    1. Mechanical markers can use Co2
    2. Pumps can use Co2
    3. HPA is more accurate
    4. No you cant fill a Co2 tank with air
    5. No you cant put Co2 in your electronic marker
    6. A HPA tank is about 50 and costs close to nothing to refill at a field.
    7. a Co2 tank costs 35 and costs sometimes more then 5 to fill, the costs can add up

    I see a lot of people asking if they can use HPA on their CO2 guns. The answer is YES. You can put HPA through the vast majority of paintball guns. Most paintball guns (though not all) operate at about 800psi. HPA tanks come with a regulator that lets you match your gun's optimal operating pressure.
    Now I haven't played paintball in a very long time, so some things may have changed on some models, but I can tell you this: I own the following markers:
    Spyder (about four different models) (like them a lot)
    Tippmann Prolite (love it!)
    Tipmann Carbine (love it!)
    Tippman Model 98
    Automag (orginal)
    Palmer Typhoon (by FAR my favorite paintball gun!)
    Palmer Blazer
    Autococker (Original and old as dirt)
    Sterling Pump (love it!)
    Dye DM4
    Every one of those guns shoots both CO2 and HPA.
    Now this is not true in the reverse, meaning that you cannot run unregulated CO2 though some guns that expect HPA because they may need their pressure regulated downwards (the last time I played, the only marker that need that was the Angel).
    Hope this helps!
    P.S. - keep in mind that not every field has an HPA fill station because they are more expensive, so call ahead to find out.

    I don't know if anyone mentioned it in comments, but one thing not mentioned in the video is that in colder weather (he said he is in florida so he probably hasn't noticed this) when you shoot CO2, you well get a condensed puff of vapour. This can both give your exact position away visually, and it will obstruct your vision when you are firing so even if you have a fast full auto gun, you will be shooting single shots then letting the field of view clear or smoke before shooting again!

    that o-ring statement is BS. if you are going through that many o-rings, you aren't depressurizing your gun properly before you take the tank off. Also how many shots do you get out of an HPA tank?

    Definitely use an expansion chamber on a Tippmann but I have an A-5 and a 98 Custom and switched it from CO2 to Compressed Air and shoots amazing.

    I don't shoot a lot of paint when I play, but I've used c02 down to 26F with no problems. Also, I don't even know where I could get a HPA tank filled. Dive shops? The nearest one is 45 miles away, and they're hilly, winding VT miles.

    Any compressed gas will chill when expanding, that's the principal of refrigeration even compressed air will freeze water when it expands , put a regulator on your co2 and it will stay constant too

  • @swefreaks
    @swefreaks 11 лет назад

    depends on temperature, as he says, when its cold pressure drops, you shoot less, when its warm pressure gets higher and you can shoot more, but an airtank like that will shoot about 800 rounds in normal condition, it also depends on your marker if it use much or less air, so if i were you, try find some guy that has a compressor so if you have a scuba tank or can boroow it, fill it up take it home, use it on the field! thats what i do, i have free air all the time.

    I use co2 attached to a remote line when I play and I prefer it over hpa because of how long a 24 ounce lasts me. when it gets cold, I put a sock around my tank with hothands against the tank and that is pretty solid for me

    From my experience, c02 will normally get a few more shots unless you get a larger hpa tank. 20oz c02 will get more than 48/3000 hpa on my SP-1.

  • @Orpackrat
    @Orpackrat 14 лет назад

    Yes, Co2 does have some down sides, its pressure fluctuates, it gets cold, it is better used for mechanical guns, but it does have its place and a lot of people make it out to be far worse than it actually is. I've been running it for 10 years solid, all seasons, never any problems.
    HPA has its + sides, consistency, easier to fill, easier to tell how much you have, etc but it also has its - like cost and shots per tank.
    Read my 2 previous posts for actual info on Co2. HPA and CO2 are equal

  • @Solmangrundy

    co2 tanks have a higher shot volume compaired to hpa. and paintball guns were originally designed around the co2 gas. Nelson valve guns like the cci phantom actually work better on co2 than hpa.

    i had a 12oz co2 tank with my tippmann 98, first time i tried using it, it only fired about 300 rounds before running out of pressure, bought a cheap 90 dollar HPA tank a day later and fired more than 800 rounds and still had some left over, got better range and accuracy as well
    watch his video about HPA tanks and oiling the feed nipple...very important

    All compressed air at high pressure will be in liquid form due to the dropped temperature, PV=nRT simple Boyle's law, i think the only different would be the extra regulator that help dispensing air at constant pressure.

  • @southieal
    @southieal 13 лет назад

    When I started playing I used CO2, I had to replace the tank oring all the time and pay for every fill. The gun would shoot inconsistent and you could see the barrel frost over. I switched to HPA about 10 years ago and have never looked back, you can get all-day air at most fields with HPA, my gun shoots consistent, not as many breaks, and the carbon fiber tanks are much lighter.

  • @PS3Guy8

    When he said you don't know how much you have left in co2, you can get co2 tanks with a thing on the side to measure what you have left.

  • @strayblackcatsmeow

    I still prefer and use Tippmann 68 Specials. HPA conversion is not possible with this marker. It requires and cycles liquid Co2 thru all its internals as well as the valve. Contrary to your Co2 remarks, It shoots consistent regardless if the temperature is in the upper 90s, or lower 40s as it uses the Co2 expansion rate and not the tanks pressure. The only other Wet Markers that I know of are the Tippmann SMG 68 and the Montneel Mega Z. The hardest thing is finding PB fields that fill to weight.

    48/3000, depending on your gun, will put out 500-1,000 Shots. This all depends on your barrel, bolt, regulator, and tank regulator.

    I bought a new 48cu/3000psi tank (pure energy) a couple weeks ago (to replace an old, shitty one). It was around 80 dollars. It works AMAZINGLY and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using HPA instead of CO2. You might not think its worth it, but HPA will never break your gun, CO2 will. When your gun breaks because of your CO2 you'll need to spend way more money then you would have if you just bought an HPA tank in the first place.

    I agree with this completely, I have a sypder MRX that operates on CO2 and alot of the time my tank seems completely empty yet when I unscrew it I get this massive burst of CO2 from the valve and I often experience shots where my gun will shoot about seven pellets at one time and they all drop right out the barrel.

    Awesome vid...to all the newbies with tippmans and any non egrip marker....use co2....it lasts longer ....but if u do get a Hpa like I have I recommend purchasing a scuba tank that has been hydro'd recently with a Hpa tank yoke adapter to fill on location...my 48/3000 lasts one game but that's about 4 to 5 hundred balls

  • @Mohandas.Gandhi
    @Mohandas.Gandhi 14 лет назад

    If you can afford it get a scuba tank & an adapter as an initial investment, it's not that much. It's $150.00 total and you can fill it yourself until your tank dips below 3000psi. Scuba shops fill up the tanks for pretty cheap too. I've always used HPA because it was available.

  • @abalrog42
    @abalrog42 8 лет назад

    I have sorta noticed a pattern of people shooting each other in their back yards with cheap guns running CO2. The welts they get look so much worse than those I've seen on the field. They leave like black rings around the impact point and in some cases, there's blood. It could be either really high velocity shots from the inconsistency, or simply the balls being coated in ice as Mike said...

  • @Fr0z3nFr0g

    depending on what gun....i used a 48-3000 on a tippman w/ response and got around 500-600 shots i think... i now have a 68 ci tank with 4500psi...i can get around 800-1000 shots with my manual autococker.

  • @Mike11069
    @Mike11069 15 лет назад

    if ur tank is being held vertically, it wont let liquid into ur gun so if ur using an electronic gun u gotta use hpa, hold ur tank vertically, or us an antisyphon thingy. if u use antisyphon dont hold ur tank vertically though

  • @Killerclown360
    @Killerclown360 11 лет назад

    You can fill them at your local paintball field or at a SCUBA tank service center, or at some fire departments. The 48/ or 65/ indicates the air capacity in cubic inches that the tank will hold. (ex:48/3000 will hold 48 cu. in. of air @3000PSI) 48/3000=350shots* 48/4500=500shots* 65/4500=700shots*
    *Depending on your gun*

  • @TheMasterRanker
    @TheMasterRanker 14 лет назад

    @MrDarksuperman123 Its either 3000psi or 4500psi. If you mean until you have to refill it, it will last anywhere between 1 game - 5 games, depending on your gun and how much you shoot it. If you mean until you have to replace it, you need to replace it like every 5 years, they probably wont last that long.

  • @DevDog67
    @DevDog67 12 лет назад

    No offense, but the fix-it to the Co2 tank issue is a remote line with a slide check, no more blown o-ring, no more liquid co2, much more expansion/consistancy and almost no freezing, I suppose its possible to freeze with a line but have never seen or had it happen.
    And air is really tough to get when you live in the country, big co2 tanks are sold by welding shops, so you can get a fill station and fill forever.

    I still run Co2 on my 'cocker but I double regulate it. No syphon valve either just an asa that's at an angle so the top of the tank is always high. On my cocker I can shoot about a case off a full 20oz. I do NOT suggest Co2 for any electro though. I'd also like to point out that you can blow O-rings on HPA just as easily. You also didn't mention HPA "hot fills" shorting you a fill. All depends on the guy filling the tank.

    Liquid CO2: Get a tank with an anti-siphon tube.
    Inconsistent high pressure: Get a regulator
    The only issue with CO2 is its cold weather performance. Which blows.

  • @RosieKR
    @RosieKR 14 лет назад

    @53murphy53 it could easily improve performance. as mike said, HPA is much more consistant than co2 so you'll always have the same amount of pressure leaving the gun and lobbing paint down the field.

    Generally, Co2 will get you 50 shots per oz and HPA is 10 shots per CI at 3000PSI and 15 shots per CI at 4500PSI. Co2 yields more shots when you compare tank volume.

  • @pyro5050

    nope, HPA is a simple fill to pressure system... most setups will have a primary tank preset to a certain pressure or it's out port set to that pressure (the latter being more effective) the pressure guage on your tank if rated to 3000, you fill to 3000, takes the guess work out of Co2 cause Co2 is based on weight as you cannot accuratly measure the volume of Co2, hence a 20ounce tank is weight tank... HPA is much lighter as well...

    psi = Pressure per Square Inch > psi is the amount of pressure the tank can withstand. Essentially how strong it is.
    cui = Cubic Inches > cui is the physical size of the tank.
    Eg. Tank 1 is 60cui at 3000psi and Tank 2 is 60cui at 4500psi
    Both tanks are physically the same size but Tank 2 can withstand higher pressure and there for hold more air.

    On BIG and I mean BIG deal with hpa is that in rural areas like where I live it is impossible to find someone who fills them, Unlike co2 which is available everywhere from welding stores to medical supply stores. I would like to use hpa but there is nowhere to fill them.

    i have co2 im kinda sick of it Because i am up north in Canada it sucks in winter i agree getting hpa the reason i got co2 was because it was cheaper DONT DO that mistake also if you have co2 i found a trick witch some people know if you un screw it a few turns so you gas is not being pushed into the gun you can empty the remaining of the co2 in your gun by firing it out then when you cant fire no more take the tank off . your O ring will be just fine also remember to not waste your paintballs

    @DaShinigamikun depends on your tank. if you have a 5 year tank, you don't have to change it when the 5 years are over. A tech can re'hydro it for you for about 15-30 and its usual able again. just take good care of it. (APPLIES TO HPA)

    Is there a big difference in weight from a steel tank to a carbon fiber tank? I mean a big big difference? Are steel too heavy that maybe would make your playing uncomfortable?

    is it true when you unscrew your tank from your gun that when itsspurts out the hpa it wil waste alot of air

    My tank has 6 levels it's a 45/4500psi, the fields will only fill it to the 4th level so nothing blows on it and it doesnt explode either. It's just safety and stuff. So your tank will prolly only be filled to like 2600psi

    Wait, if tipmann's and spyder's are entry level markers, what are the markers professionals use?

    You can fill hpa with an air compressor if you have an adapter.

    Also, co2 is very dirty, causing the internals of the gun to get very dirty and sludgy. HPA can also be very dirty, not as dirty though. It is always better to buy a scuba tank, take it to a scuba shop, have it filled with clean, breathable air, then you can refill your gun a few times without going to the paintball shop. Get hpa, but also get CLEAN air. its worth the extra buck!!

    Why does my ninja 48/3000 steely get like frozen when I shoot out the whole thing to empty it? It feels like its really really cold, normal? Downs performance? Because I havn't noticed anything except knowing my vibe stock barrel isn't that accurate.

    Im all for HPA but a good thing about co2 you should have mentioned is co2 tanks last a long time without needing to be hydrotested and have a life span of at least 20 years, HPA needs a NEW tank every 5 years.
