As someone who works in production, this scene was most likely filmed around 2am. Now imagine being in the freezing cold, in the middle of the woods and trying to be funny. Just goes to show how brilliant John Candy was.
I love how both Tia and Bug said "shit" at the same time when the engine backfired, AND when Buck looks at Maisy like, "You're six years old, how do you know this stuff?"
One of the greatest movies of the past 30-40 years and John Candy was one of the comedic greats. This film is still great in 2022 and has gotten better with age. Thank you for the laughs, Mr Candy.
I love that gunshot sound the car makes 😂 that’s so funny 😂. For sure needs a tune up. Uncle Buck for sure called every thing about how some people can be? He was spot on. Still is.
id like to think that car backfires on purpose not only to announce his presence/departure...but also add a sense of macabre to the air much like this scene what with the fog fueled stride of his...goosepimply
Yeah, the banging backfire of that car is not because there's anything wrong with the car, it's because Buck deliberately made it do that so he could use it in certain situations to get attention
I did not think I would turn into uncle Buck when I saw this as a little kid, but thirty plus years later….. My bros kids call me Uncle Chuck, and I channel my inner John Candy.
Unfortunately in this day age when the entertainment industry stays on life support and hasn't learned a dam thing from there past catastrophic mistakes will never again get rare classic gem 💎 s like this again that we can still watch a million times in row when it comes on and still remember word for word just like planes trains and automobiles these timeless masterpieces will never and I mean never be duplicated on this masterpiece level again in the greatest golden era of entertainment in history no matter how many times they try and how more 4 k it looks in another failed remake try just leave these rare gem 💎 s alone and let them continue to show the magic ✨ the way they were supposed to
2:54 Just love Uncle Buck’s look of “let’s see how long this lesson will last for.” And then very next moment he and Tia kiss and he gives like a heaving sigh look of I give up.
I like Tom Hanks, but John Candy is even better I think. I don't know for sure if someone now being deceased makes them seem even legendary or not, but maybe that does have a small part on why John Candy shines even a bit brighter than Hanks
I know we're meant to hate Bug, but I got to hand it to his acting. I mean, just look at the look he gives Tia after Buck says "Here it is!" That is freaking hilarious!
I saw this at the drive in as a kid. When i was a teenager, whenever i heard Echo and the Bunnymen, i thought of the kids the oldest daughter hung out with.
She realizes by the end of this movie that Buck was only looking out for her all along. Buck wasn't around for a long time, but I think now that that has to do with the mother character not liking him and not that Buck didn't care about his family
“He’s all talk.”
John Candy: “Here it is.” 😂😂😂
And Bug's reaction makes it even better.
;)

“Come on over, I wanna show it to ya” 💀

He was a very good actor!
His laugh is so well timed throughout this
"He's all talk."
"Here it is!"
The timing is perfect.
That got me
And the look Bug gave Tia just made it even better.
"He's all talk", we see later that's not true
Lol
Ironically bug was the one who was all talk when it came to playing tough.
Every family needs an uncle like Buck.
I am an Uncle and large like Buck and my God I will be like him. The kids will not need therapy but those who upset them will.
He’s the uncle I aspire to be with my niblings
No. Every family needs a family member like John Candy.
I get to be that Uncle. This is my favorite movie to commemorate the role I have been given. He is my spirit animal. Lol.
A man who is 6'2 and estimated 300 pounds threatening you with a Hatchet dayum Bug was crying
Bug was a douche
300? Try 375
Uncle Buck= the ideal protector of family, and role model for uncles, and protective brothers like myself, hehe.

Aware that his own life is not very well together, but dammit if he's going to let any of his brother's kids end up the same way...
Same when being the oldest male cousin
Every young person needs an Uncle Buck in their lives. That's why I try my best to be the best Uncle Buck I can be to my nephews
Same, I’ve definitely annoyed my brother and sister with my antics but the kids love it. Hell I even regularly keep a sledge hammer in my trunk!

i miss john candy
He was so talented
Don’t we all
@@L1KECLOCKWORK yes, we all do
Ditto!
He wouldn't be doing so great in our modern society, he liked to push limits with his comedy. He'd of been cancelled ages ago.
Bug's face the entire time is priceless lol. Thought he was about to cry
He was a jerk in the movie but had a very likable personality
As someone who works in production, this scene was most likely filmed around 2am. Now imagine being in the freezing cold, in the middle of the woods and trying to be funny. Just goes to show how brilliant John Candy was.
They dont let kids film that late even in weekends they dont film to 2am child labor laws and whatnot.
If anything that would set the tone perfectly. Your logic is dumb af

The creepy music in the background...XD
Love the crazy little turn and laugh Buck does at 2:11
Right as there is a howl in the distance. 😂
Bug was legit terrified of a huge teddy bear 😆 🤣 😂
I love all the creative ways Buck uses to be a positive role model for these kids.
