It's an e-locker in front I believe, they do act like that due to their design. Those original Durangoes were tough as hell. I watched all the durability testing during the design phase, I was a chassis designer at Jeep-Truck Engineering during its development, I can claim the exhaust system as mine.
I’m not sure about this guys truck or if the shiftable 2-4x4 durangos are the same as the all time 4wd durangos but mine is just a shift locker which I guess could be considered both a manual an e-locker due to the fact that it just has the 4L-lock
Great deal for $500!! Back in May of this year I was fortunate enough to acquire my grandfather's black 1999 Durango SLT 4X4 5.2L with only 89k miles on it. It literally gets compliments anytime I am out in it. Paint still looks excellent, interior is phenomenal nothing broken or missing & was never abused. Grandfather was always very meticulous with taking care of his vehicles & he ordered this one new from the local Dodge dealership. Black exterior, tan (camel) leather interior, rear A/C, 3rd row seat, he added every option possible except for the fact that he opted for the 5.2L instead of the 5.9L engine (lol not that their was alot you could add back 1999, nothing like special ordering a new car in 2023). Being a Mopar man his entire life he chose the 5.2L engine over the 5.9L because Chrysler/Dodge 318 v8 (5.2) engines were always well known & respected for their extreme reliability & longevity. Not that the 360 (5.9) was a bad engine because they definitely were not. Though I still say unfortunately the 5.2L & 5.9L engines Dodge used in the 1st gen Durango, Dakota, Ram etc were unnecessarily choked & restricted in the power & torque category compared to the Mopar engines from the "good ol' days". Glad to see their are still many enthusiasts who still share a love for the 1st gen Durango! I'll admit it honestly surprised me when I got online & saw all the love so many people have for 1st gen Durangos... For a long time I though I was the only one, seriously! Mainly felt that way due to how the resell market has been for years when it comes to the 98-03 Durango. Even with lower mileage the Fair Market Value, JD Power (used to be KBB), loan values (even through credit unions), everywhere I have looked is just very, very low. Despite where I live, when the 1st gen Durango came out in 98' it seemed like everyone had to go out & buy one. The dealerships around me were selling them left & right! Have a great day everyone.
My friends were all buying big trucks and jeeps then I got an 04 durango lifted with lockers and an off-road suspension and they can’t keep up with me up the hills they’re some tough vehicles
2000 dodge Durango it’s what we have and she’s a beast my love bug 🐛 love it 🥰 all the kids love it and my kids make fun of the Grandma because she has a Toyota Tacoma 2016 and my 2000 dodge Durango has way better gas mileage and the whole family can fit it in❤😂😂😂😂😂
@kalanibordeaux99 you're bragging about the gas mileage from your 2000 Durango, though you forgot to mention which engine it has? I'm assuming no matter which engine yours has that you are doing majority open highway driving...
It looks lifted, either torsion keys or body lift. Those tires look like 33s which probably won't clear a stock body under this type of use. Of course they took off the front bumper which helps tire clearance but they might have cut elsewhere.

@HappyCat-xx3mw Sorry! I made it the way they told me it was to be. Good luck getting past the torsion bar cross member and transmission.
If you claim the exhaust you could have done a better job in the exhaust manifold perhaps 🙄
@@JoseRodriguez-gy8ju Talk to the engine guys, I did from manifolds back.

Your grandfather was wise. The 318/5.2 is the best engine mopar ever made outside of the slant 6. I will find one of those myself to purchase.
that is one tough climb, well done!
Yep first gen Durango’s are bad ass
Might get one for my first car
They are not bad, now they are old but in their time they were very good.
The old rigs are by far better then any of this new shit these days! 👌
love my 99 durango. I installed a spartan in the front and lock-rite in the rear with 4.29s. Its an offroad beast.

Picking up a 2003 durango tomorrow!

Owe the shame. I have a 2000 Dodge Durango V8 Magnum. Still my daily. Paid for. Hell yeah!
Where was that filmed? Awesome city terrain. 🎉
Believe it is High water between New Albany and Georgetown Indiana... If Im remembering some of the trail right
I want a 1st generation Durango so bad
Got a 2002 RT myself last month!
That dodge front end squeak
Nice rip! Fronts didn’t look quite locked though, could just be the camera I guess
or Kyle already broke something
Damnnn that was awesome !
So when you wanna go back to the good Ole high water lol
That MF can drive
Каждая поездка = новые царапины, и ушатаная подвеска?
Now that's having fun. Goooooo Mopar 😮
I just got a 1998 for $3,000 and I'm thinking what I want to do with it. Any suggestions?
0:45 -- front does not look locked.
Other than the front and rear lockers, is it stock? Asking cause, I'm starting an 03 Durango build and looking for ideas.

That High Water your at? ...
Not locked in the front
0:50 -- not center-locked either.
I gotta stock trailblazer that will work real nice.. No locks needed.
