  • I've owned an Evolution saw for over a decade and in fact have shown a video on RUclips with me repairing it! Unfortunately that saw has now sheared off its spindle on the armature and was not cost effective on a further repair. So today I show you its replacement, the Evolution R210SMS 300 mitre saw. I also run though how I set it up after unboxing it. This setup, or certainly similar setups should be at least checked on all new tools as sometimes the factory setup is poor.
    There is a 3 year warrantee with it but you do need to register it with Evolution. I was led to believe it came pre-registered. I was wrong!
    Anyway please watch the video and comment as you see fit. Consider subscribing as there will be more videos like this coming your way soon.
    The Evolution as seen in the video but on Amazon: amzn.to/3O6hXKf
    Google drive link to manuals etc of the saw: drive.google.com/drive/folder...
    The Evolution as seen in the video but with only 210mm cut, not 300mm on Amazon:

    Or the Evolution's big brother, the R255 SMS DB+ on Amazon:

    Nice comparison to old one. That Evolution is still sort of unknown brand to me, but if old one lasted 10+ Y I'm fine with that. Thanks.

      Hi Tom, yes, genuinely I have had the first saw for over 10 years and apart from the brushes and armature issue, (where I managed to rework it in the lathe, Link to armature repair: ruclips.net/video/VARcEnmV79Q/видео.html ) the saw had been faultless up until when the armature shaft sheared off. It was at that point it was no longer cost effective to repair.

    Best way to check square is to cut a piece of wood, check with a square and then adjust

    Hey Mike, did you ever find a locking mechanism for the blade guard? I've got one of these myself and it's a pain trying to cut deeper and wider pieces without the guard constantly getting in the way when I drop the blade as it's just a bit too conservative on the opening mechanism. Currently having to prise the guard open using an off-cut batten which is a pain.

      Hi Sean, The only thing designed into it that I can find is a blade lock for changing the blade and a depth stop, neither of which will help you. I'm sure the is a way of a modification to have the cover open permanently but pain or not I've got used to it now! Thanks for the comments and of course for watching 👍🏽

    Hi, I just bought the evolution r210sms + (my first miter saw). But I have encountered a problem the blade has a slight play I think it is due to the hex bolt securing the blade to the motor, the bolt has quite a bit of play compared to the thread of the motor block and even if I tighten it the wobble remains, however the cuts are precise at least on the wood. I was wondering if yours also had the same problem? Sorry for my English

      Hi. Good news is I don’t think you have a problem. What you are feeling is slight movement between the armature spindle and the drive unit to the saw blade. I will check mine when I’m home and let you know working 24 hours off that helps?

      @@MikeMakesIt a thousand thanks

      @MikeMakesIt  2 года назад +1

      Right, I've taken a look at mine and as I thought there is a little backlash or rotational movement of the blade before the motor turns. This is normal as the is a small amount of play between the armature spindle and gears before it gets to the blade. I hope that helps. This a link to my Google drive for more information of the saw from Evolution themselves. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Rk3T3RATfk5lsiGs-yJcPH3E9muyGn_E?usp=sharing Hope that helps 👍🏽

    How do I take the slide off I've put it on the wrong way

    • @MikeMakesIt
      @MikeMakesIt  3 года назад +1

      Hi Shane, there are a couple of holes on the saw head where the bars enter the head, near a couple of grub screws that you tighten up when it's all back together. You need to push a small screwdriver into these holes to allow the head to be removed again. This will reset the prongs that come out when the head is assembled. This is from memory as I cannot get in front of the machine at the moment (At work). I think there is a note on the assembly sheet mentioning this, just in case. I did the same thing on my R255. Let me know how you get on. Here is a link to the instructions, it does show where you need to press to release the head again, top and bottom left hand side of drawing. evolutionpowertools.com/downloads/manuals/build/r210sms300_plus/assemblyguide_uk.pdf
      Hope this helps, thanks for watching 👍🏽
