    A 911 is supposed to be driven, 10 years down the line do a proper rebuild and keep driving, 14K is not alot for a lot of work. Also there are many 911s going over 100K miles and going strong, the less you drive them the more trouble there will be, sensors going rotten, seals drying, etc. You are right, a 911 is a 911, no replacement for a 911.

      130K miles 997.1 manual. Some bore scoring and will probably do a rebuild at some point.

    You say sitting for six months is bad, but when the alternative is driving during winter with salt on the road, which is better?

      These cars are bette when driven, even in winter I would suggest once a few weeks doing a 5 mile run in it. If you end up driving with salt, just jet wash it afterwards

    Absolutely build into ownership calculations a rebuild for any 911 over a reasonable ownership period, where the car is a Gen 1, if it hasn't already been done. If you can buy a car that has the rebuild from Invictus with all the warranty and paperwork, it should add to your ownership confidence. I would rather have a 16 year old car with a good rebuild than a 16 year old 911 with low mileage and without a rebuild.

      Thanks Leo, we 100% agree with the idea of a 16 year old car with a rebuild as supposed to a low mileage 911. These 997.1 don’t do well if they are regularly driven.

      We actually have these made in-house and sell them. 100% of the proceeds go to charity - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ali-Zaheer2
      At cost price they come to us for £69.99, a person can choose to donate whatever sum they want

    How much is a 997 carrera s in the UK, considering bringing one over to Australia, seems to be alot cheaper than over here

    • @invictusporsche
      @invictusporsche  Год назад

      It ranges between £25k - £35k. A lot of people do seem to export them now so worth considering

    Doesn’t add up! £24k + £14k for rebuild. Selling at £1k loss.

      Prior to the rebuild we had it advertised at £30k and took a deposit. Around the same time we put it through a borescope inspection and saw the badly scored liner so we thought it would be a no brainer to rebuild and sell for circa £37k. However it clearly didn't work out and had to reduce the price :(

    A lot to absorb here. If you made any money on that car, you must have got it for well under 20k I wonder how many can be purchased for that sort of money. The Tiptronic cars will always be cheaper. The Tiptronic box is in my opinion much maligned, by the way from the Gen2 996 onwards it is a Mercedes gearbox, that can be rebuilt quite easily by gearbox specialists. I have a Gen2 996 C4S Tiptronic, its a good gearbox, is the later PDK better, yes it is, neither are as good as the 8 speed ZF unit I have in another car.

      Thank you. This 911 cost us £24k it had just left Porsche Centre Preston from a Major Service and Health Check, as soon as we got it on our ramp to do the bore check we saw bad scoring on liner 5/6.
      Interesting to hear from you in relation to the Tiptronic box. Also I totally agree with the 8 Speed ZF are better then the PDK or Tiptronic 👌.
      What do you drive at the moment?

      @@invictusporsche If you put 14k into a 24k car, you are losing money, you said it was for sale at 37k? which is really the top end for a Gen1Tip car. I would rather look for a Gen2 997 PDK. 40k gets you a mint low mileage example, with a warranty. Apart from my C4S I also have a 19 plate BMW 440i M Sport coupe.
