Definitely one of the best plugins of the last few years! Even the free version is crazy good!
That "DYNAMICS --> AMOUNT --> EXPAND" feature goes hard in the paint.
That immediately throws the bassl(i)ne into the forefront of the stereo mix.
"SUB-->BOOST-->POST"
"MONO Recovery-->Auto" dialback just enough to avoid the red OOP.
"WIDTH" (as much as possible without going OOP)
"STEREO HARMONICS-->stereo"
"DYNAMICS --> AMOUNT --> EXPAND"
seems to be the most optimal template/preset for this plugin thus far.
Downloaded the free version and the demo. I started a project last night blending 5 ugly basses and after I put the free version on each bass and the bus long with the drums...man I haven't even compressed, just basic EQ and...wow? Going to have to dive into the pro version to see whats really going on but man I love this thing.
Excatly... Tbh I don't even wanna try full one... I feel that for now,free version gives me great results with simple UI

Yeap. I was wholeheartedly impressed how much wide-mono/wide-monaural info. it kept hence meaning that with Dynamics-->Amount--> Expand (no compress(-ion)) would mean that the bass will never get lost on grandma's news-AM-radio box playing 808s LMAO Hahahaha hardy-har-har!!
First I get my mono bass sounding fantastic. Then, I add width by sending to a return channel with different stereo wideners on it. This is another way to ensure mono compatibility whilst adding width to taste. When done right, bass, 808s, and sometimes even kicks sound awesome with some extra width. Parallel channel is a combo of S1, Vitalizer, Ozone imager.
Let me do you a favor and explain to you why you're no ensure mono compatibility with what you just described. You're using an aux, so you're using the same signal that you created, soundig good in mono. You THINK that now your mono signal is solid and nothing can affect it, unfortunately, you're using an aux and processing with a very short delay (stereozier in ozone) to make a fake stereo of it and this WILL create a phase cancelation in your mono track because it's inevitable. Then you make this phase cancellation greater by using S1. Note that this is science, not an opinion. Now you will say "but it sounds good to me and I'm not losing my bass in mono. Correct, you will not lose the bass in mono COMPLETELY because it's not anti-phase, is JUST a phase cancellation that will happen to a given range (depending on the amount of delay ozone uses). So, first of all that has nothing to do with ensuring mono compatibility, you're doing nothing to ensure that, and second what's happening is simply that you're partially cancelling a range in your mono bass which you will not notice on stereo, but your bass WILL be lower and less powerful when the song is mono'd. Is that a deal breaker? No, it could very well be not a big deal, and the best part is your lucky because you're not using modulation so this cancellation is static. Is there a solution to this and a better way to so it? Yes, there are examples in my mixing courses (members only)
@@mixbustv David, as always, is correct. You are mixing your mono signal with the widened signal, which will be summed in mono and cause some cancellation. David will show you how to do it in his mixing courses. We are lucky these days to have access to this information !
@@mixbustvavid, if I were to do what I described in my first comment, but also used Voxengo MSED, at the end of my parallel chain after my wideners, with the mid channel muted and only side channel engaged, wouldn’t that leave the mono bass untouched? Thank you

Still very interested in this plugin, but I agree, never had good results using linear phase on bass in both mixing and mastering applications. Seems to create and unnatural aesthetic and lacks impact. I don’t get what the big fuss is about. If it doesn’t sound good, it isn’t good! Would love someone to show me an application where it actually improves tonal quality.

What I enjoy best is that these changes even convey a difference just listening on the phone. When it’s more mono it’s louder & clearer. And even when the stereo is spread with harmonics, it all becomes even more articulate too. This is really awesome. I bought this early when it came out. As a producer, this will visit all my low end stems & busses to finalize.
David, you mixed that 11:00 minute song that you use in a lot of your free demos on this channel very well because it was not even close to being OOP when you showed it on Basslane. It was hard to get the bass wider; man o' man: Did Dangerous ADC+ do that? LoL

Hey David, I’m a big fan. I’ve learned a lot from your channel and always recommend your channel to others. I have a question about stereo wideners and mono compatibility, and you’re the only one I trust for proper guidance.
Let’s say I get my mono bass (or 808s) sounding perfect. If I were to send it to a stereo return channel with different stereo wideners on it (combo of S1, Ozone Imager, and Vitalizer), BUT finished that parallel chain with a utility plugin (Voxengo MSED) that completely mutes the mid channel, so that I’m only affecting the sides. Would this still affect mono compatibility or have any phase issues to worry about?

You will have zero mono compatibility. You have muted your mono channel, by definition that's the maximum damage you can do for mono compatibility. You also have no reason to do so, why would you have sides only bass?

Trying to understand the plugin , if the main bars in the middle hit the red sides. Is that good, bad or up to the producer ?
Could be too much but not necessarily, it depends on where you're using it.

If I were to get a parallel channel, boost harmonics with maxxbass, and mute the mid channel on this parallel channel- would I be doing the same thing as this plugin? I read the plugin description and that’s what it seems to do, no? Isn’t it just boosting harmonics on the side channel for its widening function?
On one hand I appreciate the intent, trying to understand the process and find your way to do something. In the other hand, even just looking at this plug-in, how can you narrow it down to that? Even just looking at the amount of controls. No it's not the same. These are the guys who created unisum, did you see unisum? It's the only plug-in that I stated the advanced panel us over even my head.

It was meant primarily as a mastering tool but 100% you can use it for bass and kicks
