Thank you! I just bought this machine second hand. When the bobbin ran out, I rethreaded it and was having trouble with the thread clumping up. Thank you for showing how to properly thread both the machine and the bobbin! I am back to sewing again!
I watched 4 videos this morning trying to get this…I am ready to go now thanks to you!!! I sat at my mother’s knee while she sewed for many many years & despite her many attempts to teach me - much of it did not stick. Lots of tricks did though = ) When you’re threading this machine, hold the thread on either side of each ‘target’ and simply pull underneath & voila!! On the first just pull down from the top, 2nd is the same only w/it at about 2/3 height, 3rd pull up from the bottom, 4th pull from the right, 5th pull from the left then you’re at the needle. Also, to get the winding target back to its resting position, simply close the bobbin hatch! 😂🎉😂 Thank You!! For making this video!!
I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU!!!! You were a tremendous help!!!! My machine belonged to my mom, and I have not played with it for 15+ years. So the little I had learned has been forgotten 🤭❤️ your video was awesome!!!
I have owned this same machine for years and struggle to use it. Thanks so much for the video. I have tried reading the manual but I am more of a visual learner...this video finally helped me understand it! Thanks again!
I've never sewn in my life, was given a free machine, I've gotten so frustrated trying to learn how to thread it, Finally a video that actually shows you how without going so fast you can't see what was done with the thread, Thank you.
What a great instructional video! I had no problem with the lighting because the camera is angled in different directions for many of the steps. I love that this was done slowly so that it is very easy to follow. Great job- I needed help and I got it!
Thank you for sharing this video! I'm an amateur at sewing machines and while my mom is gone, this really has helped me out so much!! Thank you so much again!
My Mom gave me her machine years ago. I never sew, and I never could figure out how to thread/fill a bobbin. Thank you so much TJ for taking the time to make this video! Now I’m going to see if I can figure out how to sew a face mask. Lol
THANK YOU! I followed the steps from the manual several times but it was hard to see in the photos exactly how the threading of the tension disks work. My machine is working again!
Thanks for the demo! Just got this old machine-in great condition with original instruction book, etc. One suggestion-if you lay down black cloth on your table (stitch together lightweight black cotton) you will find everything showing much better and create along with your lighting a very professional looking set)
Thank you so much for your video! My grandmother had this sewing machine, and I have been trying to make it work. While I did find an old copy of the manual on the Internet, the pictures about how to thread around the tension discs are so poor and grainy (and there is no explanation at all about what should happen) that I had threaded it the wrong way. But your video made it clear. I appreciate it - it works now!
You have been so helpful, my friend handed one of these down to me with no time to teach me how to use it:) I have never sown anything..ever.. so I'm learning from you lol tks for posting these:)
Thank you so much! Great video! And your voice gives a nice peaceful calm that instills confidence in me that I can do this. Lol It's my firsy time working with any machine... Looking forward to it.
This was my first sewing machine and I loved it. I totally wore it out. Wish I had another one. still have the box with all plus some attachments for the Singer Golden Touch and sew :-)
Question.... I'm new to my Singer.. I have lots of spools for different stitch patterns, but no straight stich... How do I do a straight stich with this machine?
Thank you, I followed your video and I was able to wind my bobbin, before finding your video I had searched and searched, even looked up the manuel. But the Manuel said it was for my machine a Singer 1411, but it was illustrating a different machine.
I have the Singer 758 Touch and Sew, the threading guide is in the left most part of machine, that just swings open. Threading through the take up level and the other little part above the needle (silver bracket) are open slots that you don't need to thread like you do a needle.
Thank you for this! The reason you are having lighting issues is because the light on the sewing machine is causing the camera to adjust. I still loved this video tho, very informative❤️ I just bought this machine and threaded it wrong following the instructions manual.
Hey, I loved your video and I got mine threaded just like you said. Unfortunately, my machine needs repair but don't let anyone tell you your videos aren't good. That was perfect
Hey I know this video was older but it was SUPER helpful! I realized why I kept messing up I forgot to put that metal piece down on the bobbin 😆 thank you so much! EDIT: I’m having a lot of trouble getting the bobbin up into the machine I can’t figure it out any advice?
Hey TJ, I have a T&S 758 that is only slightly different from what you're sewing with in this video. I don't think your tension portion of this video is clear. What I mean to say is that the thread tension (round button that sticks out) needs a maneuver with the thread on both the spool and needle sides of the machine. The spool side/right side (you did it when you caught the thread under the metal foot that sticks out 2:20-2:40) But you did NOT maneuver the thread on the needle side/left side into a metal lip that's behind the wire loop. I say this because I love my T&S and bobbin is why. Hope this helps a little and thanks for sharing this content!
Thank you! I have been trying to find help on this exact machine! I am new to sewing, would you be able to show a video on how to raise the bobbin thread on this model?
@TJ Sews thanks so much for the video! I’m having trouble though, can you please tell me what settings you use for the bobbin winding? I can’t get the button (with the bullseye) to move...
Hi! I just got one of these from someone for $20 and I just sat down and if you open the door on the left hand side, there is a threading diagram in there. Sadly, you were wrong on how the threading runs. It goes under the rounder and thread it thru the little metal loop. You are showing it as going over the rounder and that is in-correct.
Can you show the position of the bobbin housing, I'm having trouble with the bobbin housing won't sit back into it. The thread keeps breaking its catching on something.
Lola Williams I wish I knew I’m having the exact same problem! I think it’s the setting of the stitch control... ? But I don’t know what settings it should be at :(
Tiffany Wells I managed to push it, I used something to push it in place. Mine was very stiff due to its age and being neglected... it caught fire a few days later anyways lol I now have a brand new brother machine and I love it! 😂
Hi. I'm having trouble with locking the bobbin case holder in. When I sew it locks up...are you able to show a still shot of how it should be locked in?thank you
Hope you got it by now but you can order them from Singer Sewing machine parts or JoAnn's. Make sure it's clear and has 3 white rings on top, clear on bottom, the bobbin can be twisted in half to easily remove thread.
If anyone knows please help. How do you set this machine up to chain stitch? I got one and want to chain stitch on it only. I have the manual but I need a visual.
Now I realize what I was doing wrong, my presser foot was down. Your voice and instructions were very calming and easy to follow. Thank you.
Omg. I am so thankful to you. I am brand new in sewing and could not figure out how to thread it. Thank you so much for your patience and time.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I can NEVER remember how to load the bobbin!! And it's so easy. Thanks a bunch!!
I thought I was sunk when I could not find my old sewing manual to remind me how to use this old machine! Thanks for posting this! It worked for me!
Help my thread is bunching up under the bottom how do I adjust this to stop it from doing this?
Thank you! I just bought this machine second hand. When the bobbin ran out, I rethreaded it and was having trouble with the thread clumping up. Thank you for showing how to properly thread both the machine and the bobbin! I am back to sewing again!
Thank you for this! I would have never figured out how to thread around the weird tension thing on this machine without you.
Thank you. I just pulled my mom's old machine out and oiled everything i could find. Your threading and bobbin instructions are great, thank you.
Thank you, :-) Saw your video today, six years after it was publiched and I got the Singer to work. So happy over here in Sweden :-)

I’m a T.J. Too! And I love to sew but this Singer 717 baffles me! Thanks so much!
Your video helped me. I just bought this machine and had no idea how to wind the bobbin! Thanks so much for posting! 😊
You are the best. Thank you so much. And your voice is so soothing I didn’t get frustrated. Lol.
Your video saved my life! Those tension discs are TRICKY! Bless YOU!
Fantastic job girl. Lighting or no lighting your video did exactly what it was meant to do. Thanks to you camera assistant as well.
I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU!!!! You were a tremendous help!!!! My machine belonged to my mom, and I have not played with it for 15+ years. So the little I had learned has been forgotten 🤭❤️ your video was awesome!!!
I love your video. Very easy to follow along. Helped me learn how to use this old machine I got at an auction. Thank you so much!
I appreciate your time. I have my Grandmother's machine and it is intimidating to me. I am going to attempt this.
Thank you for making this video, it saved me a lot of time! This is not one of the most intuitive sewing machines to use.
You are a life saver. I'm using my mom's sewing machine and you have the exact same model!!
I have owned this same machine for years and struggle to use it. Thanks so much for the video. I have tried reading the manual but I am more of a visual learner...this video finally helped me understand it! Thanks again!

This video was super helpful and by far one of the best and simplest, straight to the point. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video! I'm an amateur at sewing machines and while my mom is gone, this really has helped me out so much!! Thank you so much again!
Thank you so much. This was very helpful, and I didn't find the light an issue. ❤🙏🏽

Great video, very clear and very thorough! I finally got the bobbin to wind, Thank you!!!!!
I would have never figured this out! Thank you!
You are a lifesaver 😭😭 this is my first sewing machine and I could not figure out anything!! Bless you 💕💕
THANK YOU! I followed the steps from the manual several times but it was hard to see in the photos exactly how the threading of the tension disks work. My machine is working again!

My Dad rebuilt one of these machines for me and I just got to use it thanks to your video.
Thanks so much! You just solved my bobbin winding problem!
Girl, I even have the manual and I could t get it to wind! Thank you so so so much!!!! God bless! ♡

Thanks so much, just bought one if these with no manual. I enjoy your videos, even if these aren't a fav of yours. Thanks
This was my first sewing machine and I loved it. I totally wore it out. Wish I had another one. still have the box with all plus some attachments for the Singer Golden Touch and sew :-)

Thank you! The best, clearest, and easiest to follow! Thank you!
Oh! That fixed my problem! I was threading my new (refurbished) machine wrong and you had the answer. Thank you!

It wasn’t helpful to me. Video was
Wonderful video! Thank you so much!
Thx Ma‘am! As some People forementioned you are a lifesaver.
Thank you for this! The reason you are having lighting issues is because the light on the sewing machine is causing the camera to adjust. I still loved this video tho, very informative❤️ I just bought this machine and threaded it wrong following the instructions manual.
Thank you so much for your video! I had no idea how to wind my bobbin. Thanks!!!
You saved me with this video!! Got my second touch and seew today!! I couldn't figure out the bobbin winding!! Bless you!! 😘
You need to make sure the presser foot is up prior to feeding the thread through the tension discs.
Hey, I loved your video and I got mine threaded just like you said. Unfortunately, my machine needs repair but don't let anyone tell you your videos aren't good. That was perfect
you are so kind!!! Much Love, TJ

The are hooks on the Left & Right hand side of the tension disc's.
The thread goes underneath the "U" shaped wire spring .
Thank you. Thank yo. Thak you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your help 🙏🏻
Thank you! I have been trying to find help on this exact machine! I am new to sewing, would you be able to show a video on how to raise the bobbin thread on this model?
