Funny thing, the way i understood it as a kid was "oroshimaru wants the sharingan because it enables him to understand all ninjutsu inmediatly and it would speed up his goal of aquiring all ninjutsu knowledge but he need to be on an Uchiha body or he wold be running out of chakra constantly like kakashi"
@@sedrie34 No that is the reasoning in the show. Orochimaru wanted an Uchiha body because it is compatible with the sharingan. Otherwise he would have had loads of opportunities to steal sharingan eyes before the Uchiha massacre.
@@Milfuelle100 I was referring not to the acquisition of the sharingan itself but to the fact that the sharingan increases learning speed. Orochimaru expressed no interest in that particular ability in the show despite knowledge being his overarching goal. He seems solely interested in the power it gives and it follows logically from this that he would pass up on from learning aids from corpses for more efficient power sources from the living but that is in partial conflict with his previous stated goal. He can’t use the sharingan to learn if he can’t get one, pursuing a living target makes getting one more difficult, therefore just take one from a corpse. He nonetheless doesn’t do this which lead to the original comment and my reply.
Hiruzen (surveying the corpses following the Uchiha massacre): "Hey, Uchiha normally have eyes, right?" Danzo (hiding his arm behind his back): "No, you must be thinking of a different family."
Hiruzen: that seems- Danzo: *activates Koto'amatsukami* Hiruzen: completely legit, you're so smart Danzo, and attractive too. have I ever told you that I'm nothing without you and you'd've been a much better Hokage than me?
I think Danzo went gravedigging vs stealing rhem straight after the massacre and lets be honest, its more danzos style desecrating graves after the funeral
He didn't just want a sharingan, he wanted a young and healthy uchiha body so that he could control the sharingan and have the chakra reserves to be able to use if effectively, he can't research that, otherwise Danzo would've been able to turn off the sharingan he stole from Shisui, there would have been no reason for his eye to be covered in bandages.
Using Earth Grudge Fear to claim sharingan ought to change the requirements, no? I mean, Orochimaru obviously doesn't have that technique, but if they did. . .
@@Themohr As far as I understand it, the requirement is an Uchiha body. That's why the sharingan was so taxing on Kakashi in the first part of OG Naruto, he didn't have the body of an uchiha even though he had the sharingan, that's why he kept collapsing or draining himself after using it. Earth Grudge Fear might help? It would change his body for sure but there's no real way to know if an earth grudge fear body would be compatible with the sharingan or not. Speculate away :)
Orochimaru’s biggest mistake was waiting until he was on his deathbed before trying to take over his body. He was just unlucky that his 3 year time limit worked in Sasuke’s favor for his body to start rejecting him at the same time Sasuke was at his strongest.
@@Quesoe yes but when he switched bodies he had three years before it started rejecting him. Even with his hands sealed but with a fresh body he’d still be stronger than Sasuke. He even admitted if Orochimaru wasn’t sick he would have lost.
I think Orochimaru isn't necessarily stupid, it's most likely that he developed an extreme obsession with the Uchiha brothers because of their visual prowess and he didn't want to settle for second best by just possessing a random Uchiha member's body thus he didn't think as rational and logical as he always used to. Even the most intelligent people become stupid whenever they crave for something so badly. (It was still pretty dumb for Orochimaru to train Sasuke powerful enough to also reverse the living corpse reincarnation though.)
Or maybe their visual prowess wasn’t the only reason he picked them. He may never have explicitly given any other reasons but if you think about it Itachi and Sasuke are both very talented at taijutsu and shuriken jutsu and physical talent is a factor in both. If Orochimaru had taken over their bodies then he would’ve had access to those gifts as well, gifts which the vast majority of Uchihas couldn’t match. It’s also likely that Orochimaru knew about the MS and knew that it could only be awakened by Uchihas, meaning that he wouldn’t have been able to awaken it if he simply stolen an Uchiha’s eyes.
@@MFShro0mwrong Kakashi awakes a MS by Rins suicide through his Chidori. So he could awake one too, but you can make the argument that bc he doesn‘t love anybody it will be borderline impossible, but it would be possible. I agree on the first half of your comment, he wanted the best body
Orochimaru might have indeed asked Hidan to tell him about Jashinism and he decided against it for two possible reasons: 1. Whatever ritual that grants immortality has a high failure rate. The reason why we don’t see anymore Jashinists (unless you want to count the Boruto episode) might be because Hidan was the only survivor when he tried it with the rest of his cult. 2. Orochimaru did not want to become dependent on an entity that could always just take away his immortality, which could possibly mean instant death, if he ever did anything to displease it. Not to mention, Orochimaru’s ego might prevent him from becoming subservient to anyone other than himself. I can’t think of a good reason why he didn’t just pay Kakuzu to teach him Earth Grudge Fear.
I think actually Earth Grudge Fear might be more limited then we know, as it seems to be the only thing Kakazu can do, maybe by using it you become less able to perform different kinds of jutsu
@@MegaHI32 That's kind of what I assume as well. Orochimaru has a ton of body modification techniques and it seems like Earth Grudge Fear would make pretty much all of those as well as any other similar techniques permanently inaccessible.
@@MegaHI32 Well, the arc with Hidan and Kakazu was rushed because Kishimoto was apparently in the hospital, so I imagine that explains why we do not see him do much and why Hidan does not show any other abilities besides his ritual.
hmm, interesting theories, mate. Orochimaru's desire for immortality definitely had its risks, and he was quite the independent type. As for Kakuzu, maybe Orochimaru just didn't want to part with his precious ryo.
I want to add some stupid decisions of Orochmaru here. - He did not serve with only 2 immortals. He also had the opportunity to learn with Sasori how to be immune to old age. -He was very, very keen in using the sharingan, but never gave a dang about the rinnegan that he knew Nagato had. -He can create very powerful bodies, like Mitsuki.... He could just create the perfect body with no mental resistance and posses it. And just an addendum. Between his own village, multiple hideouts and research, I am sure Orochimaru is very rich, or at least can be if he wants... He really could just pay Kakuzu to teach his immortality to him. After all Kakuzu values money over everything else.
You're absolutely right - we know Jiriya is loaded from all the missions (and book deals), it was a big deal that Sunadae had gambled it all away, so yeah, Orochimaru should be loaded. I'm sure they've done all kinds of shady deals with feudal lords along the way to boot. I'll concede that maybe their experiments have a lot of overhead, but still. But I'm sure you see that Orochimaru with Earth Grudge Fear has two lines of immortality, no real threshold on the powers they can acquire, all the things that already make Orochimaru a terror - basically they become OP as fuck.
He could have used Edo summons to go after itachi instead of his brilliant plan of walking past him, turn around, grab him with his snakes, looking him directly in the eye and say "gottcha" and explain to him what hes trying to do WHILE LOOKING AT HIM IN HIS EYES. Like he he could have easily grave rob some Aburame graves , edo summon them and used them to poision itachi from like miles away.
Orochimaru definitely knew that nagato was wayy out of his league with the rinnegan, if orochimaru couldn't handle getting his hands on an uchiha with sharingan there's no way he'd be able to take over a FULL BLOODED UZUMAKI who leads a terrorist organisation with a dojutsu which is even more powerful and mysterious than the sharingan. But yeah all your other points are completely valid 😂
@@n.6847 bro the point wasn't to kill Itachi, orochimaru was trying to take over his body. After confronting Itachi orochimaru realised that even if he was capable of taking Itachi down he wouldn't be able to take over Itachi's body cause he was simply too strong
@@garsto9718he’s got a video addressing it on his own channel, and Clyde did a massive video outlining what a piece of shit Seth is. It’s probably not 100% true but I’d bet at least 90% is.
Nick you're forgetting the fact that when Sasuke killed Orochimaru, Orochimaru was weak asf because his body was rejecting him AND he had his arms sealed by Hiruzen too
I think the reason why Orochimaru did not take the eyes, because taking eyes and sharingan became BS overtime. For example the sharingan was supposed to be weaker the byakugan. Then it was able to all this crazy shit. Also we didn't know Kakashi got his sharingran until Shippuden where taking eyes became a thing. So once Orochimaru was locked into this storyline it makes his charecter look stupid.
Like we see the sharingran in Kakashi's face during wave. It has to be covered and there is a scar right where the eye is. We are also told all the Uchiha are dead expect for sasuke and his brother. It's a pretty duh 1 + 1 = 2 of course someone gave him that eyeball kind of thing. It really does not need to be spelled out. He is not a Uchiha. He had an eye injury. Now he has magic eye. Wonder how that happened?
Well you have to remember that implanted Sharingan aren't the same as natural born Sharingan. In every instance where someone planted a Sharingan into them, it's almost always active and constantly draining their chakra when their Sharingan eye is open. Orochimaru wanted a body that could fully control the Sharingan. So rather than surgically implant it into him, he'd rather transfer himself into an Uchiha body and acquire it that way.
Orochimaru is the anime Henry Kissinger. But the Minato one shot is a dedication to kishimotos wife. I think she helped him write Naruto like how kushina helped name the rasengan. Its also the last moment in the one shot which came after boruto ended, which his wife wrote. Kishimoto has a lot of parallels in his relationship and naruto and minatos relationships.
When it comes to Orochimaru, his main goal is to master every jutsu in existence and the Sharingan would be a HUGE help in his research in accomplishing this because the Sharingan's ability to understand techniques used in front of it and then there is the Rinnegan, which if you combine that with the Sharingan's copy abilities, you can master literally every jutsu in existence, so long as it is not a body type Kekkai Genkai like Shikotsumyaku. The Sharingan would make learning the secrets of Ninjutsu a lot easier. He could have just implanted a Sharingan into himself with the many eyeballs he had, but then he would run into the same issue as Kakashi with the Sharingan draining Orochimaru of all of his chakara, plus it is shown that dojutsu's true power can only be used by the owner, which is why Nagato, through all of his training and mastery of Madara's Rinnegan, didn't have access to Limbo: Border Jail. Orochimaru doesn't want these limitations. His best bet was to get Sasuke while he was young, due to him not having mastery of his Sharingan, but that went down the drain after Sasuke had time to train. Now that I think about it, it may have been better if Orochimaru just restrained Sasuke during the 3 year period until he was able to switch bodies again, this way Sasuke wouldn't have had the advancement to fight back. The down side to this though is that Orochimaru will have to work overtime to build Sasuke's body back up and he would have to do it in a hurry because at some point, Itachi will find out and then it's game over.
My typical approach towards filler storylines is that they're canon unless they're directly contradicted by the mainline story. So in the instance of much of Orochimaru's escapades, it can be assumed that those are mostly canon since the material doesn't really provide us with anything contradicting them.
Danzo was working with Orochiramu to develop wood style, according to the filler he learned about Yamato after Orochiramu left. He should've already know about Yamato's existence prior to that.
I recently rewatched og naruto, and started to think about what caused kimimarus chackra illness. Then it hit me. I believe it was the earth curse seal itself. Either orochimaru developed the heaven seal after realizing the earth seal caused the chakra illness, or the earth seal was supposed to be a stronger version of the heaven seal, but a mortal body couldn't handle the power given leading to the chakra illness similar to what happened to naruto after having all the tailed beast chakra in him for 16 years. Hence why everyone else got a heaven seal.
Potentially, but I think it was probably more likely bone cancer or something similarly related to being a unique illness derived from the Dead Bone Pulse. (My headcanon is that the All-killing-Ashbones (which is supposedly the ancestral version of the Dead Bone Pulse) chakra builds up if it isn't used and might have been leaking out of his bones into the rest of his body, being resistant to it but not immune.)
Anko had the cursed seal of heaven first. She would have been given the curse then abandoned and gone back to the village around the same time Kimimaro became an orphan. Orochimaru might have abandoned her because he found Kimimaro.
While the exact cause of Kimimaro's chakra illness is not explicitly stated in the series, your explanation about the Earth Curse Seal potentially causing it does make sense. It's possible that the power of the Earth Seal was too much for a mortal body to handle, leading to the chakra illness.
Orochimaru doesn't have a 3 year deadline when he gets a new body, it's that vessels need to be compatible to him and also need to be properly prepared for the technique. The reason Orochimaru has to discard his old body in Part1, is bc of the sealing jutsu from Hiruzen, it didn't just damage his arms and ability to perform seals, he also damaged his chakra control, which impacted the stolen body. Also he doesn't steal people's body to learn about their jutsu, he wants to take over their bodies bc they have powerful bodies with access to kekkei genkai, the Sharingan doesn't work properly on people outside the Uchiha clan and Kimmimaro's habilities can't really be stolen, that's why he wants the original body. He was even able to replicate the Sound 5's habilities, even though some of them were Kekkei Genkai, like Kimmimaru, Kidoumaru and Sakon/Ukon. Plus Juugo. PS: The Curse mark 1/10 survival rate isn't random, it's about life force/will or something like that, so only the people with the strongest body/will survive.
Orochimaru also worked along side Sasori and if you think about it Sasori is kind of immortal himself so if the zombie duo was a bust he had a third option.
@@hellaspoicey2280+ if hes a puppet is assume he cant pull off the weird jutsus where he crawls out auf his kinda own bodies mouth when hit or expand his head etc

I could have sworn that orochimaru states, or someone else did about orochimaru, that he didn't want to implant a sharingan because then it would be always active like danzo and Kakashi, which would both make it obvious that he now has it, and also wouldn't allow him to use it fully, plus orochimaru isn't known for stamina, he's known for hacks... which makes me wonder how much he regenerates or loses when he does one of his multiple way of replacing his body.
Considering how stupidly easy it is for medical ninja to perform eye replacements in the story couldnt he just carry the eyes around in a jar, and pop them in whenever he wants to use them. By a jar i mean like one of those containers Obito had all the sharingans of the Uchiha preserved. This applies to Kakashi too, the dude who has to take a paid leave every time he used the sharingan at least until mid shippudden. why didnt he carry obitos eye in a jar. If he did he wouldnt have any problems with chakra AND have access to the sharingan when needed.
@@n.6847"oh no a powerful Shinobi. Hey powerful foe who wants to kill me, do you mind giving me a sec to pop in my sharingan real quick?" C'mon... Even if that was feasible, you still have the same issue with faster chakra/stamina drain
@@infiniteimprovement hahah, fair point. but i didnt mean pop it in in the middle of battle. U cant tell me that Kakashi for example wouldnt have a much better time doing other shit if he did that. like sure if hes going to battle equip the eye, but what about literally all other times
This is the reason he didn't implant it Nick come on. Plus for him to take Sasuke in the forest of death would be a waste as the body would give up in 3 years and if he can't survive the curse make that's a waste too. So just of his mistakes just fall on poor writing as well as some is just on that it wouldn't make sense for all that to happen in the story
I think it is his character flaw written for him. He was very power hungry and super curious which when put together is what makes many real world scientist do stupid things like. "hey there is a chance that splitting these atoms will ignite the entire atmosphere but you know what lol yolo" and boom the first atomic bomb was born and we all survived it.
1:25 It speaks more of the intelligence of the author, as well as the time they have to think. The characters can’t be clever if the author isn’t clever. Also, a writer can only come up with clever tricks and plans so many times, especially when they’re crunched for time as much as mangakas. As a writer myself, my over-taxed planinator has been a kiss of death for many of my stories. That, and finding a logical way to connect different plotlines. It takes a lot of planning, and every writer is bound to screw up somewhere, even when they have enough time and are incredibly smart. So I think we should cut Kishimoto some slack.
Kishimoto’s Naruto definitely has many distinct theme to it, intriguing characters, cool ideas, and some really good world-building. All things considered, it’s a pretty good story, despite its flaws and some of the fucked up ideological undertones (but many of those are common in anime).
totally agree, dude, Writing is tough, and even the most talented authors can have their limitations. Kishimoto did a great job overall, considering the complexity of the Naruto series.
@@Reed5016 yeah, Naruto has its ups and downs, but overall it's a pretty good story with interesting characters and cool ideas. And, uh, those ideological undertones... well, anime can be a bit funky like that sometimes.
@SOLDAT_MENDES I’m particularly referring to the way certain personality traits and pre-dispositions are presented in bloodlines. In real life, that’s not even close to the case. But it makes racism look justified, when applied to the real world. The Uchiha clan is the main example of this, as their basically pre-disposed to being evil or hateful because of their DNA. The ideology of the Will of Fire is also totally an ultra-Nationalistic ideology, all about valuing the individual nation at the expense of all others. Then there’s misogyny, which surprised nobody. But it’s a little disturbing that these themes are so common in anime. I’d say it’s worse in shows like DBZ (the Saiyans, the demeaning of women like Videl, glorifying violence, etc.)
@@Reed5016 Yeah, it's important to remember that personality traits and predispositions aren't determined by bloodlines in real life. It's unfortunate when these ideas are presented in a way that can justify racism. Anime can sometimes portray certain themes like the Uchiha clan's predisposition or the Will of Fire ideology, but it's crucial to recognize that these are fictional elements. It's understandable to be concerned about the presence of misogyny and glorification of violence in shows like DBZ. It's important to promote inclusivity and respect in all forms of media.
I think there are 2 reasons why Orochimaru didn't just implant Sharingan in his body. 1stly, the same reason why Danzo and Kakashi had to cover their Sharingan, you can't use a implanted Sharingan like a Uchiha, they stay activated and if you don't cover them, they will drain your chakara until it kills you. He may have thought that if he took over a Uchiha, he could use the Sharingan like one (activate it, deactivate it, awaken the MS, awaken the EMS) and maybe he thought that if he just took over just 1 Uchiha, he would always be able to use the Sharingan, even if he implanted them in new vessels. The 2nd reason may also be high chakara usage as well. You know how after Sasuke absorbed Orochimaru and during the fight against Sasuke and Itachi, Sasuke ran out of Chakara and Orochimaru was able to be freed? Maybe Orochimaru was afraid that if he implanted a Sharingan into himself/his vessel, he would drain his body/his vessels body of too much chakara and the vessel would be able to take over once again? Maybe he thought if he consistently drained his body of too much Chakara or if he strained his vessels body from the usage of the Sharingan, he would speed up the degradation of his vessel?
Orochumari had a good dozen or so goals. He wasn't just obsessed with immortality, he was proud and inquisitive. A good half of his fights were him fucking around so he could find out and then Zoidberg-whooping away when things went wrong.
I think that it's not so much of a lack of intelligence on orochimaru's plans as him becoming impatient and over ambitious. When it comes to Sasuke, as we all know, the sound 4 failed to bring him in time to switch bodies with him when he was younger that, coupled with the sealing of his arms caused him to desire the "perfect vessel" further and in shear desperation (plot armor as well) he wanted him to be the strongest he could possibly be to have his sharingan be as strong as it possibly could be (assuming he did not know how the mangekyo was awakened yet). Ambition can be toxic and bliding to even the most intelligent beings. History in humanity shows this. I agree with 5 of what you said and loved the video! Keep it up!!!!

How is he stupid when everything worked out for him in the end? He is not only immortal and super intelligent but he now has the blessing of the Hokage dispite waging war against the Hidden Leaf. He got everything he wanted and then some
@@sterenn726i mean he was lucky and intelligent as you have to be intelligent to being to control a zetsu body to begin and tbh most of the flaws mentioned in this video has as explanation. Like can't you only use the jujutsu of taking over a body every 3 years then during the forest of death arc orchimaru probably couldn't use the jujutsu by then. He also wanted a sharingan to copy jujutsus and having a Uchiha body means he would still have good chakra is why he didn't just take the sharingan's. And look at what happen to the immortal dio I think orchimaru wanted better immortality then that lol.
Hidan would be glad to include orochimaru in Jashinism and Kakuzu is money motivated enough that Orochimaru could get enough money to pay him to teach him earth grudge fear
Orochimaru with Earth Grudge Fear would be NUTS. He’d probably steal hearts from people with Kekkai Genkai since he’s already got a really good jutsu arsenal as is. Plus dude’s mad greedy you know he’d be trying to do the most with earth grudge fear if he had it
Cool Video but small correction. 1. Orochimaru was in the Akatzuki before Itachi joined. He was the partner of Sasori before Deidara 2. Orochimaru never met Hidan. Hidan got recruited shortly after Orochimaru left because Kakuzu once again killed his Partner so it could be possible that Orochimaru didn't know about Hidan. This Informations are from Filler but since there is nothing in the series that says otherwise I consider it canon.
theres also a possibility orochimaru didnt wanna take over sasukes body yet, even when sasuke attacked orochimaru, due to sasuke not having his MS ability at that point (nor his EMS), since he maybe wanted that aswell and very few uchias had MS and those that did were too strong to risk fighting and taking over.
It was also a constant plot point that sasuke's will was strong enough to repress and sort of control his curse mark, especially with it sealed. The reason he was able to beat Orochimaru was the sharingan gave him a perfect understanding of orochimaru's possession jutsu, and his will gave him the strength to use that understanding to resist him and win against the sannin's takeover. Orochimaru did not realize that the very reason he desired the sharingan gave an uchiha the ability to defeat him at his own game. Itachi only put Orochimaru in a genjutsu when he attacked, so he did not realize his mistake until it was time to take over sasuke. More than the training, having that emotional fight with naruto at the end gave sasuke the perfect sharingan he needed to pull that off. Really cool rythym and narrative beats in the story, at least til the latter part of shippuden
I also have to ask. Is it possible to put a Susanoo onto Hashirama's thousand hands? and if so why didn't Hashirama try it with Sasuke during the War Arc?
I would think the only reason is that the thousand hands is a one use finisher move. At least that is how it is (attempted) to be used. I think it would have been interesting to see it on the wood golem that Hashirama actually uses for fighting.
Another way he could've had em mortality was Jugo. That guy could literally change his age. Honestly I think you can do a video on how broke Jugo is or at how broken he could be if the plot cared about him at all especially now against ostustki
I find it funny how we expect characters to be so smart but don't factor in the writers intelligence level. In general I feel it is hard to write a character that is smarter than yourself or thinks differently. I mean I don't think anyone in the show really showed extreme brilliance. Battle IQ is different than having more intelligence. The writer will have to actually convey it correctly and I just don't think Kishimoto could pull that task off
Orochimaru didn’t even need to tempt Sasuke; he needed a new body at that exact time and he had already infiltrated Konoha without any attention. He could’ve easily lured Sasuke off alone and knocked him out, then taken him back to his base to take his body. Could’ve done it at any time. And that had to be his primary aim too, as he just fled after killing Hiruzen. He didn’t do anything else to Konoha, even though he had won. So why did he do all that just to leave everything hinging on the chance that Sasuke would be tempted to join him? That short-sighted idiocy is what allowed Sasuke to train hard enough to defeat Orochimaru before he could take over his body. I never liked how easily Sasuke defeated him and how stupid it made Orochimaru look to actually have trained him when he could’ve just kept him drugged and locked up. Would’ve honestly have fitted better in my opinion if Orochimaru had done that, only for Sasuke to escape with Karin’s help around the time that his body would be taken. He’d then form Hebi and go after Itachi. He’d be barely any stronger than before, putting him at the roughly same level as Naruto in Shippuden (because Naruto didn’t learn jack even when Jiraiya had every reason to train him to be as strong as possible).
I understand what you mean, but in my opinion taking sasukes body was nt orochimarus real goal. Maybe it was in the beginning, but later on something changed within orochimaru and he even stated(when helping tsunade recover if l remember correctly) that he wants to see in what direction would sasukes wind blow. I think he saw in sasuke a real student who was worthy of him being his teacher(something he didnt see in other pupils around him, who blindly devoted themselves to orochimaru).
The point was that Orochimaru was trying to manipulate Sasuke's thirst for power into him willingly giving up his body. If he had just taken Sasuke's body, it would start to reject him after a couple years and he would have to get a new body. Which would be a huge waste since Orochimaru *really* wanted sharingan and Sasuke is pretty much his only chance at getting them at their full potential. He trained him so that he would have a strong body when he eventually took over. Obviously, that backfired lol
One thing to consider is the curse mark. Did he want a body with his curse mark on it. Probably. Back at that time it was a considerable power up. Narratively, he probably wanted to wait until after he saw if Sasuke cud handle the curse mark before choosing his body. Or maybe he wanted Sasuke to trust him enough to keep his body for more than 3 yrs after he does take it over. So maybe give him a power up and teach him a few things so he trusts u can take out itachi. But that backfired too, cuz Sasuke was more confident in his abilities, more critical or orochimaru and didn't think it was worth it anymore to give up his body.
He wasn’t sure which body he wanted when he first infiltrated Konoha. He only decided on Sasuke as a potential candidate after the forest of death. He put the curse mark on Sasuke to find out of Sasuke’s body would be compatible, at this time Kimimaro was still his prime candidate. Curse mark had sage power and Only a low percentage of people survived curse mark so he was basically testing Sasuke’s body, but it got delayed during the Sasuke retrieval arc which ruined his plans.
@@HiddenBAHThat doesn’t make canonical sense though. You don’t need to be an Uchiha or in an Uchiha body to use the Sharingan to its full potential. Kakashi himself used two Mangekyo Sharingan to use a Full-Bodied Susano’o. Nagato used two Rinnegan to devastating effect too. Mainly because of his massive chakra reserves, which made the Rinnegan more effective with him than anyone else. Ororchimaru legit had an Uzumaki standing around who was wholly loyal to him. He could’ve taken Karin’s body by permission and used Sasuke’s stolen Sharingan. The fact that this never occurred to him is just…either dumb or way too convenient for canon. If his goal was to use Sasuke’s body willingly, he sure did a terrible job in making Sasuke loyal to him. And for a “manipulative mastermind” like Orochimaru, it’s pretty disappointing that he didn’t even notice Sasuke’s disdain for him.
Ok first, orochimaru never attempted to steal Itachi’s body. Nowhere is that even that orochimaru attempted the body transfer jutsu on Itachi. Orochimaru just attacked itachi with a snake, and got genjutsu’d. So no Orochimaru didn’t learn his jutsu could be reversed in that moment. Second, orochimaru never intended to make sasuke powerful. He intended to take sasukes body the moment the sound 4 brought him back. However due to konoha’s interference, sasuke arrived way after Orochimaru’s current body expired. Orochimaru was forced into training sasuke for 3 years lol. Third, Orochimaru didn’t just want the sharingan, he wanted to be an uchiha to actually use its abilities efficiently. I’m not trying to be an ass but this entire video was literally pointless lol.
I think that watching Nick tear his hair out trying to rationalize Kishimoto's twisted and convoluted narrative reveals from later down the series is hilarious. - I don't think Orochimaru is stupid, or even foolish, I think that Kishimoto needed a narrative to happen and didn't understand the consequences of what he introduced within the web of the world the he created. Say what you wish about his writing skill, I think he's a hack that just happens to be skilled at creating interesting character hooks, but not interesting characters, and all the parts that we love about these characters came from filler or other artists (I.E. the anime). Orochimaru was extremely intelligent in the beginnings of Naruto, Part 1, but like so many characters (Hiruzen suddenly being revealed to be a monster, Naruto having THE BEST parents, etc.) Shippuden took a hammer to them and bent them to serve the new narrative. Note however that I'm not saying that Kishimoto doesn't have his reasons. He was a stressed Mangaka writing one of the most popular manga in the world for THE BIGGEST comic manga publisher in japan. He was clearly flying by the seat of his pants with only a rough guideline of what he wanted to happen for most of the series. And the number of retcons and changes to the lore prove that. I still think that as such a popular mangaka, he could've afforded to hire a co-writer to check him on some of his stupid stuff, and help him write the female characters to be not useless, but that's in the past now. The fact remains, he had deadlines and a hard job and I don't blame him for making shit up as he went along, I just think that Nick taking every single thing he's ever said as indisputable dogma despite how it conflicts with previously-established canon is both hilarious and sad. It's the reason a lot of Nick's theories don't pan out, because Kishimoto doesn't NEED to stick to what's canon, he creates the canon, so he'll make something up that solves the problem he wrote himself into, it's what he's done hundreds of times already. Hell, the Minato Manga proved that.
You’re speaking facts. I still think kishimoto is a great mangaka, but he definitely bottled lightning with Naruto. Naruto has a silly magic system that contradicts itself as the show goes on.
In my head canon Orochimaru wanted Uchiha body to use sharingan without chakra overtaxing like Kakashi. A for curse mark I think he applied it to Sasuke because of how transference went with Itachi - he wanted to make sure that Sasuke would not resist. Also the fact that you can easily learn jutsu does not mean you will perform just as well in other areas.
I remember when Jiraiya released Naruto’s seal from Orochimaru’s interference. He made note of how crude and shitty Orochimaru’s Five Part Seal was compared to Minato’s Double Four Part Elephant Seal-the Nine Tails seal-which by comparison was more complex and immaculate. He’s basically calling Orochimaru’s Seals/Fuinjutsus complete dogshit. I think that sums up Orochimaru pretty well. He’s a jack of all trades. Very knowledgeable in many jutsus. Yet the guy is pretty dogshit when compared to an actual Master of his craft like Minato or Kushina.
After watching that video I realized something if Orochimaru really wanted too in Boruto by now he could of make an Rinnegan for himself along time ago since he already has the DNA 🧬 from the clans necessary to make it. And now he could make a perfect vessel for himself at anytime to housed his consciousness for it now. It may take awhile for the Rinnegan to appear but he can make one and live forever.
Orochimaru's attempt to lasso Itachi with a snake right behind him was IMO his dumbest point, and it was just poor writing. Considering Itachi's abilities and stamina and Orochimaru's knowledge and intellect, it's obvious that Orochimaru should have fought him remotely/guerilla-style, combining snake summons, long-range/sneak attacks, and Edo Tensei to gradually wear him out. Of course Orochimaru still would have lost, but he wouldn't have looked like a totally inexperienced shinobi. Kishimoto turned this legendary, once-in-a-decade, encyclopedic genius into a Looney Toons villain to reestablish the Uchihas' superiority without having to sensibly demonstrate it.
Orochimaru could of been the main villain in naruto beside the new space alien ninja in boruto. Still he does some of the dumbest things in naruto as well, like attacking itachi instead of trying to win his trust and highering kabuto as an underling.
I always assumed Orochimarus body transfer jutsu also allowed him to take an abilities with him. So taking Sasuke or Kimimaros body would mean having the abilities proper for the remainder of his life.
It's very easy too write a character that invents time travel, gets genius test scores or wins every chess game. It's very difficult to write a character that actually makes smart strategic choices, since it requires the author to be as smart as the character.
Great video brother! I always enjoy listening to your theories and podcasts while at work on my night shifts. Keep up the great work! 21:53 maybe he knew about rinnegan, needed to buff sasuke to kill itachi to upgrade his mangekyou, then just like in their battle the karma/curse mark wouldve eventually taken over sasuke AND what cells are needed to mix with to make rinnegan..orochimaru already has in his body
Orochimaru absolutely should have learned Earth Grudge Fear. The fact taking a persons heart and organs makes one netter with nature releases means you migjt also be able to steal the heart of someone like Haku and not only be better with water release, you might now have ice release and be better with wind release. Orochimaru could go around and steal the organs of people with nature release kekkei genkai.
Makes sense that he at least would have TRIED to learn Earth Grudge Fear (and it seems reasonable that Orochimaru could have found a way to pay Kakuzu for the knowledge, given Kakuzu's love of money), I don't think it's narratively possible for anyone else to gain Lord Jashin's blessing (though you're right, it would make absolute and terrifying sense that Orochimaru would want that as a means to make the most of out their experimental failures). IF Jashin is proven to be a real god-level being, then how's he relate to Shibai? Mean, come to think of it now, maybe Jashin is Shibai, or an expression of him. . . but you see how it muddies the waters.
That soul attack on seth at the end of the video  Yeah, Orichimaru chose the hardest path to his goal for no discernable reason other than maybe mental illness obsession and even then, letting things get as risky for himself as possible. Great video, this was an interesting watch. It's nice when channels have original ideas about content we're familiar with.
@20:00 I thought Orochimaru took a dive in that fight so he could ride in Sasuke's body rent free (since his body at this point is wrecked). In fact, because Orochimaru knew the akatski so well, Sasuke's illusions of them using their jutsu against him (in the case of Deidara especially) was more Orochimaru's work than Sasuke's. You know, because Orochimaru knew their methods. So I always thought him losing that fight was intentional. It was also a way of setting a trap for Itachi, because I'm SURE Danzo and Orochimaru discussed Itachi after the massacre.
I realized that Orochimaru is capable of creating clones. He could easily create a clone of a Uchiha and take over it. The clones of Hashirama failed because of how powerful the cells were, but a Uchiha is mostly human asaid from the eyes. But noooo, he wants a fully grown fully trained young and powerful body.
intelligence and common sense are entirely seperate things, like myself im a stoner but i graduated with a 3.9 and i like to consider myself intelligent, but i do the dumbest shit sometimes usually cause i overthink an otherwise simple problem and come up with super convoluted possible outcomes when the most likely solution was the answer
I honestly expected you to talk about more than just a sharingan and honestly maybe he didn't see the urgency in getting a sharingan until the clan massacre happened and they became rare which was why he wanted to get Itachi's or Sasuke's and the reason he wouldn't implant them is because of 1) a lack of a perfect vessel meaning he'd have to switch and 2) the chakra cost on a non-Uchiha wielder of the Dojutsu.
orochimaru should have plucked out sasukes eyeballs in his sleep, taken him over and took them back or used his jutsu after poisoning him with a paralytic he could have taken his Sharingan, put it in a jar and gave him some regular eyeballs and make him rely on his curse mark until his will was reduced by it

Assuming that Orochimaru discovered Itachi's Tsukuyomi, that may be the reason he wanted target him them. If your goal is to learn everything, life times worth of knowledge, and you learn of a jutsu that allows you to basically create a mental pocket dimension where you control the flow of space and time, that's going to be high on the priority list. Theory goes as follows. 1) Danzo learns of Tsukuyomi-we know this because he chastises Saskue because his genjutsu falls short when compared. 2) Danzo tells Orochimaru about it- Danzo is still working with the Big O at this point, getting is arm attached and what-not. 3) Orochimaru joins the Akatsuki with the intent of taking Itachi's body- he needs the whole body and not just the eyes because the chakra toll could kill him 4) Failing, Orochimaru targets Sasuke- either hoping Sasuke awakens Tsukuyomi, or that with Sasuke's body the chakra toll for Tsukuyomi will be manageable and he can just take Itachi's eyes. TLDR: Orochimaru was after Tsukuyomi, not the Sharingan.
You know, crazy idea for a what if I'd love to see you do, what if Kimimaru never got sick. Orochimaru would then get his body which would be a crazy power up, and then he would never need to tempt Sasuke.
Better reasoning than the show itself really
@@sedrie34I agree
shadow clone could help with that just make clones and get them to practice jutsu then make them poof you gain all the knowledge of that clone

I think Danzo went gravedigging vs stealing rhem straight after the massacre and lets be honest, its more danzos style desecrating graves after the funeral
@@LadyGrayce That would absolutely explain Hiruzen's flawed ruling.
And I thought he wanted the sharingan, not as an end to itself but to copy other jutsu.
Also Sasuke was a perfect host, meaning orochimaru could stay in his body a full lifetime instead of switching every 3 years
And i would i assume he hast learned his body replacement jutsu at that point either so he couldnt have used any random uchiha
Orochimaru’s biggest mistake was waiting until he was on his deathbed before trying to take over his body. He was just unlucky that his 3 year time limit worked in Sasuke’s favor for his body to start rejecting him at the same time Sasuke was at his strongest.
oh, that's some bad timing for Orochimaru, Waiting until the last minute definitely didn't work in his favor.
That's the problem with the jujutsu you have to do it when your on your deathbed as the jujutsu takes 3 years to do.
Didn’t he also have a hard time getting things done because of the shinigami taking his hands too
@@Quesoe yes but when he switched bodies he had three years before it started rejecting him. Even with his hands sealed but with a fresh body he’d still be stronger than Sasuke. He even admitted if Orochimaru wasn’t sick he would have lost.
I honestly think orochimaru has tunnel vision so to speak. Everytime he sees something he wants thats all he focuses on
Headcannon right there
I think Orochimaru isn't necessarily stupid, it's most likely that he developed an extreme obsession with the Uchiha brothers because of their visual prowess and he didn't want to settle for second best by just possessing a random Uchiha member's body thus he didn't think as rational and logical as he always used to.

Orochimaru might have indeed asked Hidan to tell him about Jashinism and he decided against it for two possible reasons:
He probably didn't want to have to take on two Akatsuki at once.

@@kiravampira1456 Maybe you could play with mine some day
I think the reason why Orochimaru did not take the eyes, because taking eyes and sharingan became BS overtime.

I like the Tenzo stuff better then the dumb fucking shit of Shin.
Danzo was working with Orochiramu to develop wood style, according to the filler he learned about Yamato after Orochiramu left. He should've already know about Yamato's existence prior to that.
fair enough, mate. everyone's got their own way of viewing filler storylines.
That's true, and the earth seal could have been developed to better the 1 in 10 chance of success.
While the exact cause of Kimimaro's chakra illness is not explicitly stated in the series, your explanation about the Earth Curse Seal potentially causing it does make sense. It's possible that the power of the Earth Seal was too much for a mortal body to handle, leading to the chakra illness.
The burn to Seth at the end was maaaaaaaaaaad crazy, I love it, that was such a nonsensical thing of him to say, getting mad over some cartoons smh

Oh. My. God. That Seththeprogrammer joke at the end KILLED me! Thank you for that
I think there are 2 reasons why Orochimaru didn't just implant Sharingan in his body.
Makes sense
This is Hella logical
Orochumari had a good dozen or so goals. He wasn't just obsessed with immortality, he was proud and inquisitive. A good half of his fights were him fucking around so he could find out and then Zoidberg-whooping away when things went wrong.
🍜🌌🌈🧪🐍🦀🤣🤣🤣☠️!! 🌌🍜
-agree with all not 5- haha
That shot at the end was cold blooded
Great video as always man!
When first stating watching you on RUclips you had like 25 k subscribers you really have blown up so happy for bro you one of my favorite anime creators pls keep up the great content
Yep. He's not SwagKage, but he's gonna reach 1 Million subscribers in about 2 years.
He creates anime lol??
@@SpammytheHedgehog What does him not being SwagKage really mean?? That he's not on the same level as him, or that he's got less subs, etc...??
Lmao that outro tho!!! We know u ain't no pedo bro..u just drop knowledge and make killer theories. Seth...swag....six...they make decent content and drop knowledge as well, HOWEVER...u make it feel more RELATABLE and have a more humble and bright vibe
How is he stupid when everything worked out for him in the end? He is not only immortal and super intelligent but he now has the blessing of the Hokage dispite waging war against the Hidden Leaf. He got everything he wanted and then some
he can be stupid and ABSURDLY lucky at the same time mate.
Being stupidly lucky isn't being intelligent.
That plot armor is bullet proof
Orochimaru was plot stupid, because the plot didn't really need him. Think about his contributions to the show as a whole...
Haha, throwing that shade at SethTheProgrammer made you go up like 50 pages in my book.
Plus dude’s mad greedy you know he’d be trying to do the most with earth grudge fear if he had it
_Imagine Orochi and Amado working together to create some crazy heat! 🔥 🔥_
Even Mitsuki's smarter than Orochimaru.
I dont know how you cam have fans for doing what your username but im your buggest fan
I mean Orochimaru must have designed him to be a better Orochimaru than Orochimaru so he MUST be smarter
Why did ths translate to English as the exact same thing
@@joshuakaha1115speaking in facts is a universal language
haha, Mitsuki definitely has a sharp mind, Can't argue with you there.
Cool Video but small correction.
1. Orochimaru was in the Akatzuki before Itachi joined. He was the partner of Sasori before Deidara
Orochimaru the Walter White of Naruto

@@julianrde1544We need to cook
Man, I remember when you first popped in my news feed, gotta say you always deliver quality with your vids, even the older one.
Orochimaru wasn't smart enough to learn that Sasuke could've turned on him at anytime when Orochimaru trained him.
Well the curse mark was supposed make that a none factor…
He literally said "I knew you'd come for me"
He knew he would have he just knew it f he did he could beat him but he sick and couldn’t at that point
@@AntonConstantiand made 0 precautions against that.
@@c.m.81he did, he knew Sasuke would weaken against Itachi. The only problem was not knowing about Totsuka Blade. Everything else was perfect.
Oh damn the shade at Seth at the end there. *chef's kiss*
theres also a possibility orochimaru didnt wanna take over sasukes body yet, even when sasuke attacked orochimaru, due to sasuke not having his MS ability at that point (nor his EMS), since he maybe wanted that aswell and very few uchias had MS and those that did were too strong to risk fighting and taking over.
Orochimaru maybe Jutsu smart, isn't Shikamaru smart.
If he fought Kakuzu, that would have been an epic battle o.o high level jutsu just being thrown everywhere
I also have to ask. Is it possible to put a Susanoo onto Hashirama's thousand hands? and if so why didn't Hashirama try it with Sasuke during the War Arc?
Because Hashirama knew that seeing him with another Uchiha would break Madaras heart beyond repair
@@Lossandthepanda LMAO true
The writer will have to actually convey it correctly and I just don't think Kishimoto could pull that task off
The sharingan reversing the body transfer jutsu is so dumb bruh it doesnt make sense, i was allways mad with it
Orochimaru didn’t even need to tempt Sasuke; he needed a new body at that exact time and he had already infiltrated Konoha without any attention.
He was not dumb but overestimated him self
Maybe if he pluck an uchiha's eye, he wont be able to deactivate it like a kakashi moment?
Intelligence and wisdom are different things.
Orochimaru didn't want a sharingan boy, he wanted sage of six paths powers, you know? a rinnengan
Yet the guy is pretty dogshit when compared to an actual Master of his craft like Minato or Kushina.
a genius in the lab
& a fool of a tactician
After watching that video I realized something if Orochimaru really wanted too in Boruto by now he could of make an Rinnegan for himself along time ago since he already has the DNA 🧬 from the clans necessary to make it. And now he could make a perfect vessel for himself at anytime to housed his consciousness for it now. It may take awhile for the Rinnegan to appear but he can make one and live forever.
I like to think that Orochimaru just went around the village, asking for Hidden Jutsu after The Fourth Great Shinobi War.
Lmaoooo that jab at seththeprogrammer at the end was actually nice
I always assumed Orochimarus body transfer jutsu also allowed him to take an abilities with him. So taking Sasuke or Kimimaros body would mean having the abilities proper for the remainder of his life.
It's very easy too write a character that invents time travel, gets genius test scores or wins every chess game. It's very difficult to write a character that actually makes smart strategic choices, since it requires the author to be as smart as the character.
Great video brother! I always enjoy listening to your theories and podcasts while at work on my night shifts. Keep up the great work! Also, not too too much of a jerk, but screw what Seththeprogrammer thinks. He is a bully. Out of everyone making naruto videos and discussing backstories, theories, and lore, you do it the best! Your articulate, and keep things interesting, you also have a gift for storytelling and getting people interested.
Omg, just noticed your Eternal Sailor Moon in the background! Looks cool!
That Seth line at the end was GOLD 😂
21:53 maybe he knew about rinnegan, needed to buff sasuke to kill itachi to upgrade his mangekyou, then just like in their battle the karma/curse mark wouldve eventually taken over sasuke
AND what cells are needed to mix with to make rinnegan..orochimaru already has in his body
Orochimaru absolutely should have learned Earth Grudge Fear. The fact taking a persons heart and organs makes one netter with nature releases means you migjt also be able to steal the heart of someone like Haku and not only be better with water release, you might now have ice release and be better with wind release. Orochimaru could go around and steal the organs of people with nature release kekkei genkai.
orochimaru could have done cloning to acquire the sharingan
I wonder if Orochimaru can take the body of a reanimated corpse. I don’t think he’s tried that
I would’ve thought it’d be easier for him to go after the hundreds of sharingan obito had instead of pursuing itachi and sasuke
When I saw that title I was so worried that you were going to destroy my favorite naruto character but you didn't do much
Makes sense that he at least would have TRIED to learn Earth Grudge Fear (and it seems reasonable that Orochimaru could have found a way to pay Kakuzu for the knowledge, given Kakuzu's love of money), I don't think it's narratively possible for anyone else to gain Lord Jashin's blessing (though you're right, it would make absolute and terrifying sense that Orochimaru would want that as a means to make the most of out their experimental failures). IF Jashin is proven to be a real god-level being, then how's he relate to Shibai? Mean, come to think of it now, maybe Jashin is Shibai, or an expression of him. . . but you see how it muddies the waters.
Orochimaru doesn’t seem like the religious type, Kakuzu is a better bet
Really liked this video :) please make more on orochimaru. Your Naruto videos are the best man!
You say you care about your health then eat a “ready meal” 😂💀
This is interesting
The similarity between the two boys
Me : they are both little boys 😂
I mean look at itachi though without the illness literally the perfect Specimen I can't really blame orochimaru.
orochimaru should have plucked out sasukes eyeballs in his sleep, taken him over and took them back or used his jutsu after poisoning him with a paralytic
he could have taken his Sharingan, put it in a jar and gave him some regular eyeballs and make him rely on his curse mark until his will was reduced by it
Orochimaru wanted an Uchiha body in order to get a body that can just properly contain his Drama.
Love how you correctly pronounced the J in Aji and the LL in Amarillo...gonna guess that dish was inspired by Peruvian cuisine.
5:18 lol I bet he planned on saying that before he even took the bite
Orochimaru probably could have just paid kakuzu to learn earth grudge fear
The shot at Seth in the end is my favorite😭
Bro I been a naruto fan since I was kid and no cap I found your videos at the beginning of this month like you got me back into naruto like I was a child again bro I prolly watch like 5 of your videos a day now you are the 🐐 keep it up bro rs 👌🏽💯
3) Orochimaru joins the Akatsuki with the intent of taking Itachi's body- he needs the whole body and not just the eyes because the chakra toll could kill him
4) Failing, Orochimaru targets Sasuke- either hoping Sasuke awakens Tsukuyomi, or that with Sasuke's body the chakra toll for Tsukuyomi will be manageable and he can just take Itachi's eyes.
TLDR: Orochimaru was after Tsukuyomi, not the Sharingan.
24:19 love the subtle shot you took at seth the programmer about him projecting about pedophilia😂
That was probably the best end of the video I’ve ever seen
You know, crazy idea for a what if I'd love to see you do, what if Kimimaru never got sick. Orochimaru would then get his body which would be a crazy power up, and then he would never need to tempt Sasuke.
