Imagine being sakura, getting put on a team with prodigies and spending ur formative years being useless, then after working your ass off for years and achieving feats only two others have ever managed (byakuya seal) and finally feeling like youve caught up to those two demigods, only for literal jesus to show up and give them divine powers, rocketing them right past you once again to heights you will never reach. I agree with you on Danzo on almost every point but one. He cannot be held solely responsible for Naruto's horrible childhood. Unless he used some sort of all encompassing genjutsu, most of the blame lies on all of the adults of the village. Yeah, I blame the third more for that. Not only did he leave Naruto completely alone he did almost nothing to make his life better. This was the son of the forth that type of thing didn't get hidden without his say so. We saw how konohamaru was treated, why didn't naruto have a private tutor and bodyguard. If he had done that it would have eased the tension with the Huyga clan who wanted more restrictions on him anyway. That would have made it so Tsunade wouldn't have had to fight against them so much to keep him from becoming a prisoner later. And by everyone knowing he was the son of the forth he wouldn't have faced such animosity and it would have been the perfect cover for the reason he got special treatment. The thing about hated characters is there are multiple categories of hate.
    1. Basic hate over cannon actions. This is for Itatchi & Danzo, antagonists being good antagonists who we are meant to dislike as people, but love them for their role in the story.
    2. Annoying characters, a characters actions are fictional but our emotional response to them is real. If a character is annoying or causes the audience second hand embarrassment then we hate them for the ultimate sin in literature. (And any similar emotions)
    3. Wasted potential, this really should be hate but often the frustration becomes hate. Sakura is "useless" and rarely trains on camera to get better, she also was stated to have lots of potential early in the story, and yet she's always behind the boys and has very few good cannon fights/feats.
    4. Active detriments to the story. This is where Kaguya and Black Zetsu are, in theory they are interesting characters, but from a meta level they were retcons undermining the agency of everyone prior in series and only exist to set up Boruto. I would say Kaguya nuked the power scaling but that happened halfway through Shippuden. (If they were planned from the beginning then they could have been foreshadowed, which is one of the most important things for a plot twist)

wasted potential is literally the whole Naruto series and Naruto himself, people say Skaura beat without Kurama which she doesn't which furthers my point that Kishimtoto made Naruto spam karmas charka as much as he spams Reasengan, then Naruto doesn't have flying Raijin, he doesn't any thing other than a different variation of a Rasengan, he doesn't know Uzumaki sealing jutsu, and he doesn't the chakra chains, then the naruto during blood prison is the naruto I wanted see after Jiraiya died when he telling a girl"i can't save him" and "save your tears for later" then he got to see sage mode more which I wish we seen more cause its literally naruto own power that we don't even see anymore.

Eh, you can't just make a character a secret puppet master out of nothing. The reason such mastermind characters work is you can piece together their actions in retrospect and see how they work to reach their eventual goal upon review, but in Black Zetsu's case we were simply told that those actions happened and how important the character was after their surprise reveal. A murder mystery where the author had no idea who their culprit was going to be until the last chapter is not going to be satisfactory in the least, I don't care what motivations you give the murderer.

90% of sakura's hatred is the Animation Studio's fault. 99% of the things people "list" as the reason why they hate her does not happens in the manga, the whole "she hit naruto all the time" being the most notorious thing, while in the manga she hitted him like 10 times (and he really deserved all of those hits) in the anime she did 100000 times bc that's part of japan's humor. Also the studio or either never animated any of her big moments or if they did they gave it to another character (In the manga sakura ALONE discovers the chunnin examn trap of the 2 teachers acting like students while in the anime they made sasuke said it and made sakura explain it, not after making it look like sakura did no notice before sasuke told her, or the most recent one of sasuke's novels animation, sakura CREATES a new sensory jutsu, infusing her chakra into a building and creating a mental map of the whole building by recognizing her chakra's trace and in the anime they created a new random character that tells them where the secret chamber is lmao or in boruto where they made her faint after all the damage she took was 2 stabs on her upper arm in the battle with shion). The mangaka is useless writing female characters or really any character that is not an uchiha, uzumaki or senju and on top of that you have the studio sabotaging the little few moments the mangaka gave her.
And the other reason her love for sasuke. People really REALLY fin and issue with that bc how can she love a dude that tried to kill her, and wanted to destroy Konoha, but they magically forget that naruto did THE EXACT SAME THING, he still called sasuke his best friend after he tried to kill sakura, tried to kill naruto, tried to kill narut's friend, wanted to destroy konoha, literally joined a terrorist group that killed hundreds of ninjas and naruto still screamed sasuke kun JUST LIKE SAKURA but yall only get mad when she does it. So two lead characters having the same motivation and feelings towards the other lead character is good writing, huh? Naruto is notoriously stupid. He's not literally an idiot, but he is hilariously dumb most of the time. His inability to put his feelings behind him is also part of his character. He's not a traditional shinobi because he's not an emotionless human weapon with eyes only for the village. Sakura was supposed to be the smart one, the logical one, the neutral one who stood between the two emotionally unrestrained yin and yang characters on her team. It would've been such an intelligent writing decision to make Sakura the one who became that traditional-style shinobi who set aside her feelings in favor of doing what was best for the village and, later, the world. But no. She just metabolized all the flaws of Naruto's character into hers and became easy to just shrug off as a background character for all the variety and interest she brought into the story.
She shouldn't be with Sasuke. She should've been smarter and had more respect for herself than that. Karin was shown from the get-go to have zero sense of self respect because she was used as an object her entire life. Sakura wasn't. If Sasuke absolutely had to live through the whole series, he should've been rejected by Sakura and forced to settle for Karin. Sakura could've been cool. She wasn't.

It feels like an alternate universe where Obito is a Naruto that was broken down and became evil while Kakashi is a Sasuke that tried to be a better person despite his suffering and reasons to resent the world. If this was intentional though, I do think it's partially the reason why Obito's character doesn't strike a chord with people as he doesn't feel unique. This is made more apparent with his similarities to Nagato as well. Overall, I don't hate Obito but I do certainly think he could have been written in a more captivating way, but whether the time to fully flesh out the character to make him more captivating would have actually been worth the screen time is up in the air for me.

Like the concept of fangirls that seem to be inspired by Sakura's initial character gets used as an excuse to hate other female characters that only slightly share that trait but actually have far more depth to them.

Even though Sakura changed from being literal dead weight in Part 1 to a formidable kunoichi in Part 2, even being more badass in Boruto, the fact that Sakura was always insulting Naruto, beating him up for either doing something stupid, not understanding something or basically just being alive around her, as well as throwing temper tantrums every two seconds made it real hard for me to rewatch the anime without getting the need to punch her in the mouth and break her skull. Her bad temper and violent outbursts make her beyond insufferable for me. That doesn't mean I think she's useless after Part 1, in fact I think she's a really powerful ninja and remarkable medical ninja but what's the point of her being all that if she's gonna be so detestable 99% of the time? I'm so glad she grew out of those habits in Boruto, in fact it's in Part 3 where I like her the most. She's become a kind and hardworking mother, her dynamic with Sarada is adorable, even though she's married to Sasuke she's not simping for him all the time and her life doesn't revolve around him anymore, it's become more genuine love that has actually changed Sasuke too, and she doesn't beat up Naruto anymore, which is because I like to believe she wouldn't want any trouble for assaulting the actual Hokage.

She's a character that I actually really like, so as much as I hate to admit it, I agree with you, her behavior isn't justifiable and it really pisses me off, my personal remedy to that however, is that after the road to ninja movie (I know it's not canon, but to me, it actually makes her character make a lot more *sense* if nothing else, and as far as I'm aware, that's the most we've seen of her parents, and her mom literally just berates her in front of everyone.) I head cannon that she has parents who are at the very least emotionally abusive. It can explain everything from her hesitancy to act in the first place, to why she often lashes out or cries, to her unhealthy attachment to Sasuke and stuff like that. She has no ability to cope with her emotions, no healthy attachments to people, and to me, she reads as unable to act out of fear of messing up. I've known a lot of people who are like that in real life, and it gives her more depth as a character to boot. I can fully understand why someone else might not agree with it, but it made her a character I can connect with a lot better and makes watching her more tolerable than looking at it from the perspective of "well, she's just an insufferable bitch because the author doesn't know how to right women and thinks that's what they're like." But it makes a lot more sense if the perspective becomes "She's like that because she didn't know better,(which in turn could give a double meaning to when she talks about Naruto being a troublemaker because he didn't know better since he had no parents to teach him otherwise) because her parents didn't teach her any better." And it would also make sense as to why we never really see her parents if she doesn't get along with them. I guess if you're one of the people who likes when head cannons or fanfics try to fix the major flaws in a series or if you like the potential she has as a character, but struggle to get past the poor writing, this makes good food for thought.

I'd be hard pressed to consider Black Zetsu a character of his own. He's just a part of someone else(Kaguya), it would be like considering the part of Voldemort that he put in the diary from the second book a distinct character. He's just a part of someone else that was separated to serve a purpose.
Additionally, from your explanation of why you don't consider him a bad character, it seems more like you enjoy the trope that he attempts to be(and fails due to a complete lack of any foreshadowing or buildup). There are effectively 0 signs that he is manipulating things from behind the scenes, or even that he is a capable manipulator to begin with this renders the satisfying "aha" moment completely impossible, effectively removing the payoff from the trope entirely.
As a follow up, should I be generous enough to consider Black Zetsu its own character and not just part of Kaguya, the claim that he is a good character who has a bad reputation because of a single moment is utterly laughable. If the main moment and the primary impact a character has on a story is to the detriment of the story, that character is bad... thus Black Zetsu, who's main impact on the story is killing Madara and bringing back Kaguya is from basically every measure a terrible character.

Does Sakura really think Naruto did it just because of that promise, even though it's clear he cares about Sasuke?
Even if Sakura convinces Naruto, and she does kill Sasuke, is she gonna tell him after that she was just lying to him so she can kill his best friend behind his back?
The fact that she think this would work, after all the times she's rejected him?
She is willing to break Naruto's heart on the off-chance that Naruto would believe her, just so she can kill Sasuke herself, which she failed to do anyway, making her a big hypocrite for trying to get Naruto to give up on Sasuke when she herself couldn't, and makes all that confession completely pointless.
Her decision to lie to Naruto so she can kill Sasuke behind his back is one of the many reasons that caused Naruto to faint from hyperventilation.

What if all ninja prayed/gave respects to the Moon Spirit Kaguya before their missions to watch over them and guide their kunai. Then suddenly we find out that Kaguya is not the Moon Spirit, but a super powerful Alien that came to take over the world. I think that twist would be nice. Crazy to think sasuke gets more hate than itachi
I watched naruto and naruto shippuden twice
And sasuke doesn't deserve that much hate
I know he was horrible in shippuden, but itachi, no matter how u look at it, he still IS responsible for sasuke's behavior.
Now, i do suffer from different types of mental health issues, and trauma is no joke
Sasuke's behavior was basically because of unresolved trauma
I know sasuke did tons of wrong choices
However it is still because of itachi
Sasuke was a cheerful kid and looked up to his brother more than anything
Itachi knew he had him as a role model. Yet itachi chose to kill the entire clan and leave his own brother, now sure, he wanted to leave sasuke unharmed
But if he really loved him THAT much, why did he HAVE to show him the clan's death on loop and his parents death?? And he was 7 years old??? He also punches him in his stomach, and told him he is totally worthless and he will allow him to live his ugly life,yeah...so much love i could tell 😒
Then after that first trauma, sasuke becomes what others call "emo" though he was just a "keep himself to himself" kid after what happened, and he starts having low self confidence and envy others.
But He still tried to learn and wanted to avenge the clan and kill the traitor, his brother.
Sure itachi was preventing war, I'm not saying he made a right or wrong choice.
however he STILL is responsible for sasuke's behavior no matter what yall think.
He made some friends and was happy for a while, he even tried to rescue naruto from dying against haku, he tries to rescue sakura during gaara vs naruto, he tries to even rescue naruto from itachi because he knows him more than naruto and from here, when he meets itachi, first he tells him i have no interest in you, which itself hurts, he doesn't acknowledge his brother or his existence
And when sasuke thought he had a shot to kill itachi
He grabs his hand, BREAKS it, breaks afew bones of his ribcage too cause why not 😑, tells him he is soooo weak and doesn't have enough hatred in his heart
AND puts him into another loop for 72h of his parents death. He goes into a coma for about a month
And yet, after this much abuse, he attempts to become rouge but kakashi talks to him, he rethinks of the situation...and before he even makes his mind on which side to take, orochimaru sends four sound ninjas against sasuke who has just woke up from a coma, and they beat him up telling him "you want power? Come with us"
Ofcourse getting beat up and bleeding after a coma and mental/physical abuse, will make him want more power because he IS weak againts those who abuse him
    He finally goes to orochimaru.
And yall are p*ssed off because when sasuke learned itachi had no choise, he wanted to avenge hima and destroy the leaf right?
This shows how sasuke was pure, because he originally loved his brother so much he wished he didn't do anything bad.
When his brother tortured him under the word "power" which is btw can be obtained through other methods that doesn't involve violence against your own beother, when he tortured him, he kept telling him to hate him
    So he did
But then upon learning the truth, he was crushed because that meant his brother was a victim. So he still had every right yo think the way he did.
So idk why people hate him he literally is just damaged from childhood and he really does resemble some real life people after trauma. 😞

I will never try and justify the cruel person Sasuke was in the second half. But I do feel like his actions are in a similar vein to the way you describe Kabuto’s. This child has been manipulated by the people around him his entire life- Itachi, Obito, Orochimaru. These people basically weaponized his perfectly valid anger and hatred from an incredibly traumatic situation. And then him wanting to take over the village at the end, that just felt like a convenient excuse to have one last big fight with him and Naruto, it didn’t feel genuine at all. I think him wanting to join the war against the big bads at the end was him genuinely acting of his own free will for what’s probably the first time in his life, honestly. Again, I would never sit here and justify what he did, I think him taking time to try and repent and mature was the best call for him after all of that. But he was 100 percent cruel, I just don’t feel like it was of his own volition

Konohana didn't care about no ones mental health haha. Just let that sink in and then try to tell me that most characters would have made rational and non-emotional decisions after a lifetime of untreated trauma, being lied to by authority figures and psychological abuse. We also can't forget that Sasuke halted his own progression because he never confided in anyone or tried to make friends unlike Naruto who seems to have a gift for drawing others to them. He tried to do it all alone but was made to realize there was value in having others by your side. Tbf, I wouldn't be logically inclined if I went through the same crap Sasuke went through. I'd probably feel I couldn't trust anyone to the point where someone had to be as strong as I was to try and reach my psyche--I.e Naruto because I'd be spiraling out of control . The thing is, that their relationship took place off screen, after the series, and we see that Sasuke is actually a pretty good guy whenever he can go an extended period of time without having his emotions and psyche completely shattered by literally every major manipulator in a series about super ninja. She likes dark, stoic, and hyper-competent pretty boys, and Sasuke is her type and grew up to be a responsible adult who eventually returned her affections.
Like, who else was she going to be interested in? Rock Lee or Naruto? As much as she likes and respects them, they are just not her type, and with Neji dead and both Shikamaru and Sai spoken for, Sasuke is still the best fit for her tastes.
The biggest issue is how everyone ended up having their eldest kids at the same time. Like, Sasuke should have needed a few more years to be able to have a stable relationship than Hinata and Naruto would, much less be ready for parenthood.

In fiction, a character's biggest Sin is being Anyoning and/or Boring, not being Evil
Bc we read fiction to see scenarios that aren't real, we can enjoy villians even if they are evil bc THAT'S the point, that's what the point of having an antagonist or villian in a story is. We can like a villian while completely knowing that their actions are horrible and should not be replicated in real life
We like good characters bc that makes us want to keep reading a story, and that's why a character making us not want to do so is way worse than a character killing people in fiction
And even then, there is a line were if you write a character to be TOO EVIL, it becomes not likable regardless of if their actions can be justified or not
Finding a balance between making characters entertaining and anyoning is difficult, and that's why we like Characters that are enjoyable to read, regardless of if it is bc they are complex/deep, or if it is simply bc they are funny

“Not being about ninjas anymore “ is referring to the loss of the main premise of the plot. That you don’t have to be born great, hard work is enough. Making naruto the reincarnation of an alien destroys that. He was fated to be the hero as of that point being revealed. It doesn’t make his work void however it cheapens every win and every speech about hard work. Therefore the story was no longer about a hard working ninja. It’s now about a fated battle that was pre destined. Rather than manifested through will. It reduces all of the hard work to plot armor. Not that complex.

In Boruto they had the choice to return to the origin and return to be more similar to actual human ninjas, instead they decided to go off chart with aliens, gadgets and cyborgs as said. Hell in Boruto ninjutsu in so useless (due to the fact that everyone can absorb them) that the author had the make up the excuse that the characters started to use taijutsu more to make up for it.

Just noticed a thing about kaguya, her story says she descended to plant a tree that would drain all the chakra of the world and destroying it later... but the story ALSO says that this world didn't had chakra before... the FIRST being with chakra was his son, so she was depicted as "the progenitor of chakra" . . . Am i wrong?

11:15 also it made sense for nagato because he never had his own philosophy, first he wanted follow jiraya then yahiko and madara(obito) and then again naruto(jiraya)
in other words he was easy to persuade
being weak has nothing to do with hate that sakura or even karin generates at least for me its not,for me that emotional manupulation thing you mention and hurt naruto ,in brief she is written poorly,no underline misogyny there ,with tsunade hate of course there is underline misogyny
nami and Go D Ussop are also weak but they are not hated or at least i don't,i mean there is still a section of fandom that hate nami so i guess you label them as misogynist if you want to,but sakura and karin hate is justify cause there annoying qualities far out-weights their likeable qualities

My dislike for Sakura isn't only that she contributes next to nothing to the plot/important moments, tries to claim how she has reach Naruto and Sasuke power vice only to be given a scene where she fails or Naruto and Sasuke gets a new "power up" scene, and trails after Sasuke like a lost, kicked, desperate puppy. Is the fact that Kishimoto wrote her to still! be in love with, go after, and have the end goal of getting together WITH HER TOXIC ABUSER! Sasuke looked down on and belittled her, wanted to destroy her home, joined the group that wanted to axe off Naruto and tried to personally do that, tried to axe her off as well with zero! remorse 4! times, showed her an illution where he successfully! did just that, was happy to let her become a casualty to the enviroment around her, and still Kishimoto has the main thing she does be crying for Sasuke and wishing for him to get together with her because she's still just so desperate for his love (and forgiving him after 1! "sorry", even answering it with "For what?". Like, what do you mean "for what?"? Kishimoto, did you even read your own work?!).!

Manga Sakura is not tsundere and she even saved Naruto in the second volume. So I like her in the manga. But *WHYYYYYYYYYY* did she stay in love with Sasuke? He tried to murder her twice, he verbally abused her, he tried to murder multiple innocent people, he was going to change the world using evil methods...like Sasuke objectively deserved the death penalty (and Orochimaru).

I don't know if there is enough content on this to make a full video but I'd love to hear you break down the similarities between the Hyuga clan and Otsutsuki. The way the Hyuga model the main and side branch family is so similar to when the pair of Otsutsuki go to a planet. Wonder if there are other similarities we aren't noticing

I would put Shonen Jump('s Editors) as my absolute #1 least favorite character. They were responsible for quite a few problems, including Madara's death and 99% of characters getting sidelined in Shippuden in favor of Naruto and Sasuke (fans liked them more = more people buying issues that focus on them)- this is also why Sakura got handled so poorly in Shippuden, the editors didn't want much focus on a characters fans already hated).

Danzo is the definition of bad guys thinking they do the right thing because it is the "absolute necessity". He is nowhere near good, but he thinks he does good deeds for Konoha.

for me its hard to pick characters for a top hated characters list, I like it when characters do evil and bad and disgusting things to a degree because that's at least interesting, what I tend to dislike is more in the realms of blandness, unused potential, and I tend to like underdog type characters. I feel my list would even have madara somewhere up high somewhat for being that "all power and not much else" that my teenager self perceived him as

I don't like Kabuto either, but I think that's because not of his person, but because of what he embodies.
He is an opportunistic scavenger. Stealing information and power, while lurking in the shadow of someone more powerful than himself. He is reminding me a lot of Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail.

My top ten hated in no particular order
Sakura - poorly written at first
Sasuke - I just didn't like him, at some points he was saved by plot armor many times
    Sai - Meh
    Kabuto - What NCHammer23 said
    Kiba - Annoys me
Naruto - Talks of hardwork but he is the most gifted. He is very loud
Konkuro - Gaara's brother, bored me
Neji - After his fight with Naruto this man faded into nothing
Kaguya - She feels like a retcon
Danzo - Beautifully written, a character you love to hate
    I liked A and Obito

11:13 i think this is the whole point of talk no jutsu.
Revealing the hypocrisy and contradictions of the characters, that they were actually already aware of.
Some of the characters act like "I know what you're going to say" with Naruto, which to me, means that they already know they are fucked up.
They just can't shake it, they can't stop themselves because of their trauma and the fact that they went too far already anyway.

    • @danielswiner2907

I personally love the Danzo archetype of career politician. Conflating what is good for them, is good for the village as a whole (what is good for the goose is good for the gander). Almost perfect execution, with the caveat of having this extremely manipulative person only use his MS during the 5 kage summit. But that is more a knock on Kishi introducing OP powers without considering how they would affect the world as a whole.
