Well, Kakashi meant "stronger" as in visual clarity, but I do get what you mean. Both the Bykugan and Sharingan can see chakra, but the Byakugan takes it further by showing the chakra points, organs and veins, plus you can see through them and far distances, but I do get what you mean.
Kishimoto tried to balance it back out by creating the Tenseigan, but that failed due to the fact that no Hyuga can awaken it...at least not yet (Hopefully).

Personally - like a lot of the audience - I thought the Sharigan was pretty cool for much of Naruto. Back then the Byakugan was set up as kind of rivalling it, and Rock Lee besting Sasuke during the Chunin Exam arc highlighted the kind of limitations the Sharingan could have. Then Shippuden came and Kishimoto just kept giving it more and more powers -- rewriting reality, altering people's entire personalities, omnipotent genjutsu with no counters. It felt very... Mary Sue-ish at that point, especially with the plot being almost entirely consumed by Uchiha.

The limitations of the Sharingan are what made it interesting, just like any ninja ability in the story. The Sharingan was tool as it was first presented, as a tool in a ninja's toolbelt. It was great to see Kakashi use it and pay the price. It was cool to see Sasuke awaken and refine his. It lost all of its appeal to me when they ignored its more "mundane" abilities like mapping chakra systems, deciphering jutsu for later use, and genjutsu amplification and just made it the equivalent of the Sword of Omens from "Thundercats." Kishimoto has said himself that he got way too into the Uchihas and I fully believe that that obsession is what fueled a technique that was supposed to be "weaker than the Byakugan" ending up the equivalent of the Spirit Bomb from DBZ.

My personal issue with the Sharingan is how over-used it is. It started out as just an eye that could copy Jutsu, predict opponents moves and, to a limited extend, cast Genjutsu. Powerful, sure, but still limited.
Now it can evolve to a second level, giving access to broken, overpowered abilities like summoning a giant chakra warrior, create flames immune to water, teleport around the world and even brainwash entire nations. It was getting way too ridiculous, and all the other Dojutsus, like the Byakugan and the Rinnegan, where basically just cast aside, especially when it was also revealed that the Sharingan can turn into a Rinnegan.
I prefer the Sharingan as it was originally introduced.

Personally, I think that the Sharingan was Made stupid the MOMENT that the Mangyeko Came into the Picture, it completely Disregarded the ENTIRE Concept of the Ability...
At the start of the Series, the Sharingan is presented to us as being "Completely Busted" because of the BASE abilities that it gives it's user: Perfect Perception of anything in their Line of sight, a Passive Genjutsu effect to anyone locking eyes with, and the ability to Instantly Copy any Standard Jutsu that you See... These 3 Abilities on their own Were Fun, they were Unique compared to the other characters in the series, and if used PROPERLY, were REALLY Freakishly Strong.
The Sharingan didn't NEED Anything more than that, it was not Necessary to give it more abilities since those abilities ON THEIR OWN Give a MASSIVE potential for Growth for the Characters that have it. Case and Point, the Chidori is an Ability that in and of itself has NOTHING to do with the abilities the Sharingan gives, but that can't Be used without a Sharingan's Boosted Perception ability to compensate for how Chidori Blinds you. Chidori itself isn't a Sharingan ability, but the Sharingan is Required to use it. Why aren't there more abilities like this? Why aren't the Uchiha Making Jutsu that can ONLY be Properly Performed with a Sharingan, but that don't TECHNICALLY Require it to be Activated? That Right there is an Avenue of Gaining power that SHOULD have been Used for the Uchihas. The other thing they get is what Kakashi does, Copy EVERY Jutsu you come across to boost the Versatility of your Kit to an Absolute Monstrous Level, Being able to Pull a Hundred Different Powers out of nowhere is a HUGE advantage to Keep your Opponents off Guard, Combine that with the Perfect Perception and the Build in Genjutsu that Slows opponent's Reflexes and it becomes Deady! Consider that Sarutobi Hiruzen was considered the Strongest of the Hokages SOLELY Because he knew SO Many Jutsu, he didn't have a Special Bloodline power, he didn't have any particularly Unique Abilities, he just Knew ALL the Jutsu known to Konoha, and that's why he was considered the strongest Hokage... Someone with a Sharingan could Achieve that in a Fraction of the time it took Hiruzen to do it AND could learn Secret Jutsu from other villages at a Glance, If that isn't something you'd Consider Overpowered for the BASE Abilities of the Sharingan, then I don't know what does!
Then there's the fact that of ALL the Advanced Sharingan Abilities that exist, the ONLY two that Makes ANY Sense as an Evolution of the Base abilitites, is Tsukiyomi and Izanami (Which for all intents and purposes basically do the same thing, it's just that Izanami is Self Sustaining until conditions are met). It's literally the ONLY Mangyeko Abilities that have ANY Relation to the 3 Base Abilities of the Sharingan, in this Case the Second one which is the Passive Genjutsu Effect. Seriously, think of ALL the other Sharingan Abilities and TRY to connect them to the Base Abilities of the Sharingan, it can't be Done! There IS no Connection! Amaterasu Creates a Black Flame that can't be Put out at EXACTLY the point where you're Looking at, Where's the fire ability of the Base Sharingan? Oh there isn't one, yes the Uchiha Clan Prides themselves on their fire Jutsu, but that's not related to the Sharingan! Kamui, Physically Opens a portal to a Pocket Dimension. I do NOT Remember that being part of the abilities of the base Sharingan, not even Hinted at in ANY facet of the Clan as a whole... Sussanoo: Creates an Armor and Weapons Made from pure Chakra that is Completely Impervious to Damage, Imitating the tailed Beast Mantle, which the Unchiha have NO Connections to... Izanagi: Reality Warping to Basically give yourself a 1Up...Where the Hell did REALITY Warping come from?!??
Oh and Let's not forget that Literally all the Mangyeko abilities, if they were used by someone who was Consistent in their storytelling and application of the abilities they create within their story, are ALL basically "I Win Buttons" that can't be Avoided... Which is a Baffling amount of Narrative non-sense... Not only is it stupid to give ANY character an "I win Button" (Nevermind SEVERAL), But then you have to take your Audience for Idiots for Believing that ANY fight that involves the characters that have those abilitites could EVER Loose against someone that doesn't have the SAME Abilities. And when you Put Two characters with "I Win Buttons" against each other, it becomes a Question of Who Draws First, Whoever Shoots First Wins, which is NOT at all Entertaining to Watch...
-Tsukiyomi and Izanami, if you LOOK in the General direction of the user, you fall into a Genjutsu and by the time it's Done you are USELESS, either too Psychologically Scarred to be Able to move at which point they can just slit your Throat, or Your Entire world View and personality have Been Rewritten to whatever the User of the ability wants... And no, you can't Resist Either by ANY means...
-Amaterasu: If you See a Person, they Catch on Fire, the Fire can't be put out until it's Completely Consumed whatever it's Burning(Aka the person that was targeted)... If it were Used as Described, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to Miss with, and the moment it hits, your Target Lost the fight, it's just a matter of time... In RPG Language, You get Hit with Damage over time Effect that CAN'T Be Removed No Matter what, and it just Automatically Hits you and you can't Resist it... After it hits, the User only needs to Evade long enough and they're Guaranteed a their Enemy will Die eventually...
-Sussanoo: "I'm Immune to damage, lol. Oh I have giant unblockable Weapons"... that's kinda the Definition of an "I Win Button"
    - Kamui (If used by an Uchiha Cutting down the "Charge Time" ): One Just Deletes Whoever you're Looking at, locking them in a dimension they can never Escape that has no Food or Water, You're Dead within the Week, no Exceptions... The other makes it Impossible to Do any Damage to you since it Phases you out of Reality automatically when something WOULD Hurt you, Oh and it lets you teleport Faster than Minato "the Yellow flash" if you want to without the Need to place Knives as Location Markers before hand...
-Izanagi (Again, if used by an Uchiha): Can Rewrite Reality so that "no Actually I didn't Die" For up to at LEAST 10 Minutes, Respawning yourself Behind your Opponent after they've Exhausted their chakra and are effectively Powerless, and if you're not polite about it, you don't even need to warn them about how you're about to backstab them after teleporting behind them, Effectively Guaranteeing a Kill...

For me, mangekyo was perfectly fine. It's when it became normalized that caused an issue.
If you had the Ameterasu and Tsukuyomi be forbidden jutsu that blinded you and drained your chakra and life, then that's good. If you have the Susanoo be an absolute "If I'm dying regardless, I'm taking someone with me" justu that *will* kill the user similar to the 8 hidden gates, then that's fine.
But everything after Mangekyo Sharingan was unnecessary. Itachi should've been the cap for Sharingan abilities. If anything, you could've had Madara the only Uchiha who used Susanoo and survived.
Kamui is fine, if only because you can call it a technique limited to Obito and Kakashi.

Honestly, Susanoo ought to have been a really effective genjutsu. It literally _not being real_ and this being a huge family secret (oh it burns things? It's called fire techniques which we know the family uses a lot.) because that would fit in with what the sharingan is presented as. It would require clever work to keep the secret concealed and even play into everyone managing to dodge direct hits from it, because you don't _want_ to hit them with it until you've set up an _actual_ hit that it's covering for.

The Sharingan was bearable when it was just “Extreme Perception” just the power to see tiny details and to have high reaction time. But from a writing standpoint it became a symbol of the writer making every nation other than the Leaf Village perpetually less and less important which ironically makes the world feel less and less important as more and more non-elemental KKG are being given as parts of Sharingan leaving one clan with lion share of ‘special powers’ that arnt just ‘element x + element y’ which ends up making the other nations feel hollow as the focus increasingly became ‘Behold the leaf village and its eternal reincarnating god battle’

By the time of the lead up to the massacre, the Uchiha had like, what, 30% of the clan with the Sharingan? Compare that to basically every Hyuuga able to activate the Byakugan, and you can see a reason to believe that people might value the more consistent Bloodline more.

Which just kinda... maybe slightly... just a little... pisses me off.
I mean, the Otsutsuki were demonstrated to have the ability to project energy from their Byakugan (Kaguya before she ate the Chakra Fruit, her sons, etcetra) which really wouldn't be very... far fetched for Hyuuga to do. Seeing what most Jonin get up to, a bit of energy projection and the spectral razors or whatever that Kaguya could do (and her sons used to defend against her Byakugan) could be useful. I mean, we see Sharingan users getting stuff like Amaterasu which is essentially a 'i look at it and it dies' power, which is a lot more difficult to protect against than 'I shoot crescents of compressed air or chakra from my eyes and slice up targets' but that's whatever.

There feels like absolutely no through line in abilities between base sharingan and mangekyo except for Tsukuyomi and the base sharingan genjutsu, which doesn't have a name and just generally feels extremely hand wavey in that "the sharingan genjutsu just kind of does whatever we need it to in the moment. Going back 10 years or so, the general belief on many of the forums was that the sharingan was being inflated by the publisher influence. The way I always interpreted the sharingan was that it was an eye which could see high amounts of detail without needing to adjust focus and which was just faster in terms of reaction speed. That it allowed for some powerful genjutsu if you looked into it was a bit kooky, but eyes can be seen as captivating and a window into the soul, so, it worked.
When it started getting weird was when it stopped being an advanced eye and started to become green rocks that allowed for invoking the gods. This seemed to be the influence of the publishers/editors, who initially wanted the sasuke/naruto rivalry and who thus wanted more sharingan merchandising deals.
Narratively, you could basically replace Sasuke with Neji and you'd have a similar plot up through the chuunin arc with the b-line being actual interaction between Naruto and Hinata.
This was an extremely obvious point to me when I was looking at the concept art for the series. Sasuke was not in the picture and both Hinata and Neji appeared. Sakura was not in the picture, either. The entire arc up to the chuunin exams, as Kishimoto envisioned it, was one where the rivalry was between Neji and Naruto. The editors really, really wanted a showdown between Naruto and Sasuke for that arc, but Kishimoto wrote Naruto swearing over Hinata's blood and beating the natural genius - restoring order to a troubled family.
The fan service was the rest of the fluff that followed was fluff.
Neji: a natural prodigy with a crazy set of eyes who is bitter toward his younger cousin because his father was executed over some political ordeal, there's a cursed mark to control him, and he believes his uncle was the one to orchestrate the death of his father.
Sasuke: a child prodigy with crazy eyes who is bitter toward his brother for killing everyone in his clan and believes said brother orchestrated everything.
O how similar those stories turn out.
Hinata: a shy girl who feels inferior to both her younger sister and older cousin, timid, and unfit to assume the role as the eldest of the head family. Takes inspiration from Naruto's successes in rising up despite his status and standing.
Sakura: supposedly a smart, aspiring young girl who is beautiful and wanted by all the guys, except sasuke, who ignores her. Generally exists as a reason to spark the rivalry between Sasuke and Naruto.
Contrast the alternate universe storyline - rather than Naruto getting upset because Saukura keeps fawning after Sasuke, we get a storyline where Naruto takes notice of Hinata's lack of hatred for him. The various flashback scenes likely become core plot mechanics that push a bit of a romeo/juliet or lady&the tramp setup where Naruto takes note of and issue with Neji's treatment of Hinata and the rivalry sets off, to fully mature at the chuunin exams, where Hinata embraces Naruto's ethos and enrages Neji to the point of murder - which then gets our blood oath.
Rather than a team of naruto-sasuke-sakura, we probably get naruto-kiba-hinata as a sort of force recon element where Naruto can be the blunt instrument. His shadow clone ability is also not that much different from shino's insects. Shino seems to exist in order to round out an otherwise well developed team chemistry. Kurenai is, also, overdeveloped relative to characters like Asuna. Kakashi as a guest trainer/assistant with Kurenai as the main team lead balances things back out. The wave arc plays out much the same, and the forest of death also plays out similarly - just with orochimaru after Hinata's eyes because she doesn't have the cursed seal. Thus putting the whole plot with Neji's father front and center.
Rather than sasuke being captured, it is Hinata who must be rescued. Perhaps she does end up desiring power and goes with orochimaru - though that's a bit speculative. Thus, we have the setup for shipuuden.
Although - that could have been the conclusion, Hinata is rescued, Naruto has become a hero who saved the pricess from orochimaru, and the family in turmoil is on the path to healing.
Shipuuden could then be an alternate timeline where Hinata lusted after power - or perhaps her injury from Neji needs to be healed and Kabuto/Orochimaru plan to do that. However, the core plot of shipuuden revolves around the resurrection of an ancient god. Without all the distractions from the sharingan, we jump strate to the legend of kaguya and the fruit being the source of all ninjutsu and her son being the sage of six paths who sealed her and divided her power into the tailed beasts. The twist is that the uzumaki are the original shamanistic tribe skilled in the sealing arts who maintained the chakra tree and the sage of six paths was the son of kaguya and one of these tribesmen - which gives rise to the rinnegan.
This is where Nagato comes from and his significance - a child between an uzumaki clan and hyuuga clan member.
We merge obito and nagato's stories and arcs together to get most of the storyline we got. We get some amusing drama because the whole cloud nation ordeal that was central to the events of the chuunin arc come full circle in the defense of Bee.
The power of the tailed beasts is collected and then we get "The Last" ... sort of - because Hinata is the chosen vessel to hold the resurrected goddess/power.
Naruto saves the day, either by preventing Hinata being taken over by kaguya or by his relationship with Hinata subverting the whole idea - quelling the anger of the sealed goddess, or something.

I personally liked the concept of the sharingan
At least as portrayed initially in the first arc
Where it was a trump card very heavy on chakra consumption that made user able to copy or slightly anticipate their opponents
The fight with zabusa in particular
We were fed the lore of the 3 ocular powers with the sharingan being ranked below the byakugan(they did not even had the whole seal to prevent theft) and a misterious 3rd power (the rinnegan) about which at the time we knew literally nothing
The problem is that the sharingan kept ammaiante insane power up and perks
    Like controlling the tailed beast
Then we were introduced with itachi with the awakened sharingan
    And from there pure insanity
Amaterasu a unstoppable ranged black flame cast by vision
    Tsukuyomi a perfect illusory art
Sudano a weird giant armour than make the user nearly invulnerable and greatly extend their attack power
    Perfect susanoo
A skyscraper like giant armour with the power to go fight on equal terms with failed beast and able to cut mountains
    Izanami and izanagi
Basically a reset button to cheat death or able to imprison your opponent in a loop
At that point the only thing the sharingan could not do was preparing breakfast

I always understood that Obito's sharingan was close ranged (Not just personal) and Kakashi's is long ranged. Obito has taken other's into the dimension but doesn't have the long range capabilities as Kakashi. Meanwhile, Kakashi can do long range kamui but ALSO when he used it on himself to transfer out of the dimension he is seen putting his hand over his eye. If we think of Kakashi's kamui as a bullet going through the air teleporting what ever it hits, he simply hit his hand in front of his eye and extended it to his entire body. As for why he never went INTO the dimension before, up until the fight with Obito he has been using this ability to attempt to one-shot people. He might not have the knowledge that wherever it goes afterwards is safe until he was forced in there by Obito. As for how Kakashi can use a perfect susanoo without going through the other stages is I believe the susanoo has two requirements independent of eachother. 1. two eyes simultaneously in order to manifest one and 2. an experienced MS. Essentially while Obito couldn't manifest a susanoo with one eye, his MS still gained quite a bit of experience (Or matured) as Hashirama cells kept repairing it and he never got to a point of blindness where he could no longer advance it like Itachi. Therefore when throw both eyes into Kakashi with the maturity / experience Obito achieved with his MS you are left with Kakashi being able to bypass all levels to a perfect susanoo.

that being said, i believe that kakashi had as EMS, the explanation is quite simple:

the "need for a close relative" part of the lore could be explained by chakra compatibilities, wich would fit in this case, since obito's chakra existed in kakashi's body for over half his life (in the mangekyou eye) and even after having it removed some could have left
and the format of the eye, well, they mended both energy/chakra of two different persons, but the eye format was the same, there was nothing to change

Powers in any media need to be balanced or else they become ridiculous to the point were the author can just make up whatever he wants and say "This was possible from the start, Don't like it? Though sh1+" and we can only take it even if is absurd, the Sharingan was great but then it became the equivalent of the games i played as a kid, games that were basically "There! i shot you with my finger gun and you´re dead" "Nuh uh, your bullet bounced into me because i'm Robocop", that's what the Sharingan became, just a plot device that worked however Kishimoto wanted so he could move the story forward.

Giving the deuterogonist an ocular power, whose rules and powers could be changed and used as a deu ex machina, was just one of the many problems of this manga, which I have a soft spot for. The other was to give us an expanded cast of characters, with interesting abilities, and then proceed to waste them spectacularly post time skip. The latter os hardly a naruto exclusive problem, but still.

I'd argue Ssusanno should've been the cap.
Basic Sharingan is fine. Meanwhile, Mangekyou Sharingan is a very rare transformation. Using it quickly weakens your vision to blindness. Ameterasu and Tsukuyomi are abilities that focus on Uchiha's fire release and the Sharingan's use of hypnotism and genjutsu. The Ssusanno, however, is the final ace in the hole, manifesting the user's entire chakra into a Goliath armor to fight with until it burns up. This would kill the user and act as the Uchiha's variation of the Reaper Death Seal of sorts.
You could argue that the Izanami and Izanami are jutsu based upon Tsukuyomi but were considered myths and folktales even rarer than the Mangekyou Sharingan.

The Sharingan and by extension all superpowers are interesting because of their limitations. If it allows the user to read an opponent's movements what are the broader applications. Discovering that it allows the user to copy jutsu is really cool. Does it detect lies, traps, Genjutsu? The constant evolution of the Sharingan takes away from that excitement and potential exploration. The MS, on the other hand, only works with the idea that you must sacrifice your closest connection Aztec style. It being some kind of perverse, Dark-side, Sith form of the Sharingan. Something only a heartless killer would have, someone who massacred their family out of spite or a desire for ultimate power.

I know I'm so happy that a mainstream youtuber covered this.
But I can cover these points more or less in order of appearance it will help form a picture of the problem this eye has. The first point is long do to establishment of the context of its actual power structure.
The second time we see it. S
Zabusa vs. Kakashi. WE LEARN IT USES TWO ABILITYS THE PIERCING EYE AND HYPNOTIC EYE
We learn that it works through the piercing eye also known as the eye of insight: This gives sharingan several befits.
Namely the ability to see every move in the finest detail.
So think of a high resolution high speed camera. We learn later in the chunin exams. That this also let's them perceive genjutsu. (The illusion clones forest of death have the yin symbol in the clone) this is further expanded on and truly confirmed that the sharingan posses the power to see chakra to a extent.(deidara vs sasuke)
THIS ABILITY IS WHAT ALLOWED SASUKE TO READ NARUTO IN NINE TAILS IN PRT 1 HE SAID
EVERY SUBTLE STEP EVERY CHANGE IN MOMENTUM AND THE IMAGE OF HIS NEXT MOVE BECOMES CLEAR.
hypnotic eye: it is very self explanatory it makes illusions which is yin release you can hypnotism and control. Confuse. Sky is the limit.
Zabuza said emplying the above the above powers makes it appear that kakasi could see the future.
The piercing eye facilitated the mimicry and copying
So ergo kakashi doesn't have the power to copy he uses powers of sharingan to copy.
This remained all sharingan could do for a fairly long time
      THEN CAME THE INCONSISTENCY
TSUKIYOMI on initial site it just seemed like eye of hypnotism on absolute Crack.
Powerful but high Chakra strain. That's fine.
AMATERASU wink wink black flames 🔥 I have fire... 😅 um how does a eye that does illusions and sees better get to this.
Then mangekyou became mystical that only a few mastered. And then u have to get it through killing a freind. Ok hyper mystical.
I'm beginning to see a achmed the dead terrorist bigger arrow analogy.
Narativly this was done for drama. And to help explain the prt 1 valley fight. But narratively it was flimsy and power system it was not good
Then too make it more consistently inconveniently inconsistent
KAMUI dimensions. Now it has 3 powers. 2 have nothing to do with its o.g power structure.
SUSANO at this point I finally realized they were just going to be inconsistent and give it new abilities whenever.
Now I could maybe see susano in a illusion. Or as a spiritual summon maybe a ninjutsu. But how is it in anyway illusionary.
KAGASUTSUCHI now flames that couldn't be controlled can as nick stated.
KOTOAMATSUKAMI now it's a eye that can up and rewrite who u r.
It can also do it without eye contact... ok it's genjutsu I could maybe see a master doing it as it aligns. But breaking away from sight.... come on power creep.
Then izanagi and izanami later. And as nick stated o.p. as sin.
I could maybe see izanami the time loop one becuase it's so quick but again withought sight.
Izanagi it can create actual substance ok this one is becuase of the use of senju. Which I do think was used to explain it. But at least it's consistent there.
But still to o.p for it to be in its form.
      Then meteors
Then wait it really is a watered down rinnegan that wait came from this.
AS IT WAS O.G. IT WAS A BUETIFFULY INSPIRED TOOL. AS IT BECAME. IT WAS A PLOT DEVICE.
NEARLY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE ABOVE POWERS COULD HAVE WORKED.
      WITH A BIT OF LIMITS.
      1) first and foremost just do away with the m.s. e.m.s. distinctions. No power ups no death.
      Keep to it's magic structure.
2)the idea that utilizing to much Chakra in the eyes could dmg them isn't far fetched. In fact gives it fair balance.
      3)powers that belong/and reworked
      Tsukiyomi (belongs it's fine)
Kotoamatsukami belongs however it needs a big nerf. Namely making it totaly undetected needs nerf. The fact it doesn't need eye contact is to big of a break away from. Structure.
These two genjutsu could a be passed down or learned. Etc. Some perhaps forbidden due to Chakra strain.
This makes these powers balanced and narratively better.
4 )these powers could be present bust as jutsu.
Amaterasu perhaps a passed down enhanced fire style skill to enhance other fire style jutsu.
Or perhaps a fire style that is infused with yin possibility are endless
Kamui same thing however it should have been in use as a jutsu perhaps for phasing maybe teleporting. But sucking people into a sharingan. No
Susano maybe a genjutsu or a summon. Not physical
But ya. It was a mess

I think the mangekyou was peak sharingan writing wise. Not the eternal mangekyou, the regular one, where youre so limited, YOU also are terrified, in a sense, when you have to use it, cause you're trading your vision (and your visual powers altogether).
The eternal concept was really cool at first, but really turnt out terribly. Not only that, but Obito really had eternal without having it. Sasuke used his mangekyou and soon after almost went blind, whilst Obito teleported left and right all the time.
The horror of seeing a mangekyou alone felt like the peak of power, bc it was supposed to be a life or death.

Tsukuyomi made an "eternal" time warp, but he had to pay the chakra cost based on the time inside it and not outside so a few seconds could drain him completelly.
Amaterasu was fucking insane, but Itachi had to use it so caefully because he couldnt control it and a single ember touching him could mean death.
Even Kakashi's Kamui... He could only drag small things and was completelly exausted after a couple uses. Shisui could only use once every frw years...

Gaara also has the ability to rip somebody right out of their Susano'o, he pulled Madara out of his with his sand like it was nothing. While it is arguable that Madara's Susano'o was not complete in that scene, let's not forget that Sasuke withstood a blow that should've killed him *multiple times over.* Using just the ribcage. I feel like things would have been more balanced if they 1) kept it so that, in order to evolve the Sharingan, you have to do something so heinous that it cuts you off from humanity forever and 2) if they'd given other Hiden Jutsu and Bloodline techniques similar amps.
Remember how, in Part 1, the Byakugan was seen as better than the Sharingan? Yeah, Pepperidge Farm remembers. But seriously, it's like "Oh, your eye lets you see a little into the future and copy ninjutsu? Well mine lets me shut down your entire ability to use the magic system." The Byakugan was better than the Sharingan in Part 1. The problem is that it didn't keep up. It didn't get the ridiculous evolutions that the Sharingan did. No other technique evolved like the Sharingan did, and Kishimoto retconned it so the Mangekyou didn't require the most heinous act imaginable to acquire and more people got access to it, with the result being that you have to wonder how the Uchiha didn't just conquer the entire world since they're so ridiculously unbalanced.

Like villains should be able to overpower you at some point, but the lesson being they'll self-destruct at the hands of their own hubris is so much more impactful than Sarada crying to her daddy and then giving him the Mangekyou Stink Eye. But it's fine, Boruto is a watered down sequel for less mentally mature individuals. Unfortunately, it only got that way because someone told Kishimoto to tone Naruto down or the West would burn him at the stake and refuse to give the publisher money. Naruto should've been grittier. It was perfectly dark in part one and dumbed down come Shippuden, and that cost us so much just... GOOD, I guess, it cost us so much good.

Also most of the "Mangekyou Stink Eye" that we have seen awakened has been from a person witnessing and suffering from the death of a friend not from killing them you know Itachi, Sasuke, Madara, Shisui, just to name a few. In that constant usage of it will eventually turn you blind, as demonstrated by Sasuke who nearly went blind after like 1 and a half arc of using it. So there is a logical limit to using the Mangekyo, beyond the great chakra cost of the techniques.

  • @Commandant_Aeon

my issue with Sharingan is the massive gaping plot hole that their missuse (and the missuse of Byakugan) created.
Like, when you know *how* genjutsu works, you understand why sharingan facilitate it's use and why both eyes should be *immune* to it.
Like, when you realise that Byakugan and Sharingan should counter each others (one can copy the techniques of the other and the other can lock all techniques of the first).
Like, when Kishi created new abilities out of his ass to write himself out of the corner he wrote himself in, which caused the biggest corner in which he wrote himself in, which needed a cosmic being to curbstomp the corner and clear the slate for continuing the story. (yeah, more abilities to the Sharingan = more power to Obito and Madara, thus this led to the Kaguya arc which came out of nowhere)
The worst part of this kind of ideas, is that when you begin unraveling that, it also shows more and more plot holes and writing mistakes, that needed more and more BS to resolve... Simply put, in my mind : Sharingan is a very interesting tool that was so badly used it destroyed the entire story.

My guess for how kakashi and Obito can use the others eye power is because the eyes are linked in sets even if not attached to the same person. Having one of the two eyes let's you access both if the other is near by, and since kakashi was in the kamui dimension (a single dimension created by their eyes together) he was technically in range to access obitos power.

He had stamina issues, much like his brother, so I find it hard to believe he was able to automatically use the sharingan in a short time without being confused. We all know that the point of Sasuke losing his Rinnegan is to put him in the same boat as Naruto without Kurama so Boruto era shinobi can take the lead as the new main power class. Kishimoto's plan to weaken Sasuke doesn't work the same like Naruto due to this.
In truth, Sasuke's nerf should have been far more significant than Naruto. Sasuke would have lost his Rinnegan, Amaterasu , and Susanoo.
As for Izanagi, right on all parts. I can't tell you how many times I've commented on various videos about Sasuke and his lost Rinnegan and arm, where I had to bring up that Sasuke could have and should have used Izanagi. Izanagi is too good of a jutsu for the series because Sasuke could have saved his Rinnegan if he had used it.
Imagine after the entire fight with Boruto and everything cools down, Sasuke uses Izanagi to get his Rinnegan back. He then goes to Orochimaru to have him make a clone Sharingan replacement for him. And now that you've brought it up, why hasn't Sasuke gone to Orochimaru to at least TRY to get his Rinnegan back?

The only way it works, is for you to ignore all of the previous lore of the story to make what is currently happen plausible.
At the end of the day, there is no reason as to why Sasuke didn't get his Rinnegan back. Izanagi, at the cost of a Sharingan, can warp reality, turning illusions into reality and vice versa. Sasuke could not only get his Rinnegan back at any time he wanted, but also restore his arm and then use his restored Rinnegan to heal his lost Sharingan after using Izanagi.
And then we also have Orochimaru and the very fact that Orochimaru and other key characters from Naruto not showing up in Boruto is telling of Kishimoto avoiding characters who would be able to fix a lot of these problems going on.

However, if it is viewed as one eye for attack and the other eye for defense it would technically make sense that as a defensive ability the MS eye would not need to activate to protect the user rather subconsciously protects, whereas the attack eye the one given to Kakashi would require activation and use of the ability therefore needing the eye to be visible and causing the eventual blindness. The issue I have with the Sharingan (aside from being inconsistent) is how it's used. What I mean is how illogically it is implimented in that world. For example, why weren't the Uchiha in control of the Leaf? It makes no sense in that world to not have the strongest faction ruling, and the Sharingan is lethal to an absolute. Why wasn't Sasuke used as a breeding bull to replenish the Village of their most powerful weapon? Why was the Leaf willing to lose their last Sharingan and Uchiha, possibly to an enemy, by allowing him to become a shinobi? When Orochimaru learned to create them in Boruto, why doesn't EVERYONE use them?
Then of course there are nonsensical abilities like the Susanoo. If it was simply something Itachi made, like originally explained, that would be one thing. But that was retconed to it being an ability of the MS any user could have. Why? What makes a dojutsu impressive and so dangerous is how subtle it is. With the Sharingan, a single look can copy abilities/skills, cast or resist genjutsu, and burn away anything. Creating giant suits of ghostly armor doesn't fit with that at all. No ninja would use such an ability. You literally lose all subtly and turn yourself into a giant target. Hightened visuals/copying for utility, genjutsu and Kamui for defense, and amatarasu for offense. Perfect. Giant ghost armor. Why? Because it looks cool.

Just a couple cents: I think people sometimes get too caught up with the real-world terminology of "ninja". The characters and shinobi terms are really all just modes to transport the Shinto inspirations, bringing them into our IRL perception using familiar words to help us relate to them. If you think about it this way, chakra is just magic and shinobi in Naruto are just magicians. Can you use magic stealthily? Yeah, totally. Do you always need/want to? Not really.
Anyway, beyond the sort of morbid hilarity of such a dark alternate universe where there is no story and Sasuke is just locked up somewhere to replenish the military might of the Leaf, the main justification I can imagine regarding sending the last Uchiha to die, basically, is because of Danzou. He hated the Uchiha and thought they were all bad seeds, viewing them as children who weren't even smart enough to wield their own powers correctly (evidenced by his interactions with Shisui and Itachi). Danzou did a lot of legwork in tarnishing the Uchiha name in order to turn the village (or at least the government) against them. At the end of his life, he got all the eyes he needed and had the powers he wanted and just needed to forge the peace he was working towards, which included finally ridding the world of all the Uchiha so no one could ever challenge him when he usurped the Hokage seat.
That's all I got for ya. The world of Naruto is a jumbled mess of nonsense.

    • @corruptangel6793
      @corruptangel6793 Год назад +6

@@keythealien That would be true, about the shinobi terminology, except for the fact that they are introduced as spies and assasins, with Kakashi even explaining that their main job is espionage, not combat, and all their skills are designed around that concept. Kishimoto himself said that the only reason they don't act like real shinobi was because he couldn't write a battle Shonen if they acted that way. Which is why the only times they use their abilities and skills properly are against nameless characters, off-screen, or when he writes himself into a corner like with Madara. The simple fact is that the world of Naruto is not designed to be a battle shonen and was shoehorned into one. Would have been far better as an action / thriller Seinen
Changing Sasuke's story to better fit with the worldbuilding wouldn't mean there's no story. It would just be altered. You could even have it be the same. Just explain the justification. For example, they could say it was part of the deal made with Itachi in return for him helping in wiping out their clan. Or it was Hiruzen stepping in to try and keep Sasuke away from Danzou. Or it was Danzou's machinations. Though I doubt he would want to risk an enemy village getting their hands on Sasuke and his bloodline/sharingan.
Hell, here's another justification: Itachi wasn't a double agent, he genuinely snapped and went rogue after helping wipe put his clan, and Sasuke was being used as a pawn by Danzou or whovever to find and potentially eliminate him. Catching Itachi was deemed more important than the potential risk of losing Sasuke or him ending up in another village's hands.
A writer's job is to figure this stuff out, to blend plot, character, and worldbuilding into a cohesive story. However, as you pointed out, Naruto is a nonsensical mess.

In my opinion, logic in the series both peaked and ended during the Chunin Exams arc in the fight of Rock Lee versus Gaa- Sasuke. Te series peaked in Rock Lee versus Sasuke. When Rock Lee both humiliated Sasuke, and exemplified the true original purpose and limitations of the Sharingan and how it was supposed to work on conception. The Sharingan is an inherited tool ability to supplement combat, and arrogant Uchiha who rely on it and think they're better than everyone for having Godly precognition will get reality slapped into them faster than a Hidden Lotus. Then it became a power of God and everything went out the window, but still. It's supposed to allow you to recognize and implement movements and chakra flow immediately, and if you understand or recognize how jutsu and chakra work, you can even master it to a degree where you are already aware of what the opponent is going to do during the time you are "following" their movements, so you are no longer following, but instead racing to the finish. Throw in some enhanced genjutsu abilities which WERE tame but acceptable, and you have a pretty strong but balanced kekkei genkai.
Everything that came afterwards threw the whole fucking series into Pandemonium. Itachi should have JUST been a ridiculously skilled and powerful genius, fuck all that shit about Mangekyo fuck Susano fuck Tsukuyomi fuck Amaterasu fuck all of that, he really did just 1 v 50 his entire clan and win because he's the strongest ninja essentially in the entire village, but no, he and Obito together went around abusing hax and ambush tactics and the acceptance of his father to just allow their massacre, in order to overcome the clan.
Had that been the case, though, and Itachi were simply powerful, Orochimaru COULD have been obsessed with Sasuke for a different reason, but instead he's fixated on the fucking Sharingan. He SHOULD have wanted Sasuke's body because as his biological younger brother, Sasuke had theoretically the same potential to be the caliber of ninja that Itachi is. But nope, he wants Sharingan because Sharingan lets you do everything ever and can never be stopped by anyone except by literal God hax and even then only like half the time if you also have a God power. It doesn't even make sense for the whole "Orochimaru wants to learn ALL jutsu ever by combining all combinations of hand signs and chakra release" because he doesn't NEED Sharingan for that. He already has control over every nature release and he can swap bodies as well as steal and organ harvest whatever kekkei genkai he can get his hands on, so all he needs is time which the Sharingan doesn't give him any more of, he still has to do the hand signs and release the chakra even if he's copying a jutsu he previously didn't know somehow. (Maybe it would help him perfectly understand exactly how the flow of chakra differs in each different jutsu implementation so he can better understand the algorithm for all jutsu creation by tangibly seeing the chakra network, that is more fair, but he could've also just gotten a Byakugan for that.)
I don't know, I still think it's unfair that after a month of eating shit with Kakashi in the mountains, Sasuke came back matching Lee's UNWEIGHTED SPEED with demonstrably no drawbacks. "Oh but his stamina" SHOW ME a time where he actually loses speed or gets actually tired that isn't a result of chasing people 30 miles into the forest and fighting 4 major battles back to back all while keeping up and then facing a jinchuriki. It never happens, Sasuke is never really shown to be helpless against any opponent as a result of fatigue, it's always as a result of getting his ass whooped by a superior opponent like Gaara.

Sharingan and Bijuu symbolise a very common problem among shounen anime- power creep. The. When we see him with both eyes he can open portals to kaguya dimension. And I’m pretty sure we all glossed over the fact he was using the eye to teleport as stated by zetsu during the aftermath of the sasuke and itachi fight.

The Sharingan itself isn’t a mistake. All the cracked out abilities you find out it has every 5 seconds is.
Also, either the Byakugan had to be beefed up a LOT or (favorably) the Sharingan had to be trimmed down a LOT.

Glad to know I’m not alone in this take. Anyone who I’ve spoken to about Naruto knows how passionate I am about this exact topic. I seriously think the Mangekyo sharingan and Rinnegan are big mistakes. When it was just the regular sharingan and byakugan, they were easily amongst the best aspects of Naruto because they were enhancing vision in some way. Every Dojutsu ability that is to do with enhancing vision in some way I am a big fan of. But What Kishimoto did with the mangekyo and Rinnegan are genuinely amongst the worst inclusions in the series.
That’s not me saying they aren’t cool, but I think it was a huge mustake to give these dojutsu such broken abilities. The casual eye swapping in the war is easily one of my least favourite aspects of the show, but was kind of inevitable due to how useful those abilities are.
There’s so much more I could get into as well. I could honestly do a TED talk on this topic. That’s how strongly I feel about it. Props for making a video on it.

Thank you so much for giving your dog love on screen! I hate seeing youtubers' pets in the background who never get attention or mentioned (maybe because the youtuber can't multitask like that or doesn't want to waste time). It's so weird! Plus, it's hilarious to see it and you still not talk about it while they're in your lap taking up half the screen. The best jokes are ones that don't have to be explained. Plus, your dog is so cute!!!

Most people refuse to engage with a honest discussion about sharingan becuase of well
      ITS COOL.
      rule of cool.
      😅
But win u consider some narrative parameters
      1 zabuza. Explains the eye.
      It has piercing eye(insight)
      2 hypnotic(genjutsu illusions.)
3 obito. From the izanagi intro explains it uses yin energy spirit
      Yin is incorporareal illusion.
Ghosts. Remember the golemns shikimaru faught. The moth ghosts. They were yin.
      Genjutsu is yin
So obito directly collapsed the very idea it could project illusions on reality. With out senju power.
Ok so he correlates with zabuza.
      So then withought senju Chakra.
How then is any of the m.s. abilities. Make sense😅

i dont know WHY Kishimoto would remove the most interesting part of the MS: the fact that it HURTS YOU TO USE IT. downsides to abilities are what make the upsides SHINE. so for the EMS to negate the best part of the MS?? literally why. this is the same reason I hate the Nine Tails Cloak that Naruto uses after he befriends Kurama, it loses the downside that made the power interesting!

      Lol
Funny enouph all the sight powers sharingan was shown in beginning.
      The piercing eye.
Is the same as eye of insight. The narrative back then doesnt lead to another conclusion.
The fandom has misinterpreted the piercing eye and eye of insight as two different things.
When kakashi was stateing simply that its actual visual prowess is superior.
We know sharingan had perceptional clarity and high frame rate lense powers.
      And chakra sight.
Then kakashi says byackugans insight is better than later says his sharingan cant see tenketsu.
      The narrative clearly shows this.
People say neji cant see high speed.
      Ok 1
Does any one really believe spider guy could have been defeated in part 1 by anyone withought a dojutsu. Or of course just out ranking spider man.
I.e. a kage would smake him around.
I doubt sasuke would have beaten kido had u replaced him in that fight.
Also debunked that neji can in fact see high speed as well when we look at garra vs. Lee.
Neji and kakashi were the only people in room that could clearly see. The fight.
Lee needed 5th gate for neji...😅😅😅😂
      People sleep on neji.
Kakashi flat couldnt believe how strong neji was.
Couldnt imagine someone that touph was there.
Sasuke was already chunin level in that arc.
Also nejis data book stats were 21 at that time.
Thats close to tokubetsu jonin stats.
Jonin like kakashi are around 31 ish.
Sasuke in chunin exams was around a 18.
      Naruto choji around 13.
If that shows the power differential of kakashis statements i dont know what does.
But ooh wait theyll disregard the data stats.

I think why Sasuke can still use his Amaterasu on his Kagutsutchi's eye is that the Kagutsutchi has the same properties with Shisui's MS where it varies on power and CD. but in Sasuke's case He can use the Amatrerasu on the Right eye but it's smaller in scale and not that potent to create larger flames compared to his actual Amaterasu eye, the six tomoe rinnegan.

I'm just gonna assume that Obito's mask casts a genjutsu that causes outside viewers to perceive it as a base sharingan, considering MS was achieved at Rin's death, Madara might have compensated for this and taught him a jutsu that puts all viewers under a genjutsu that limits their perception, something like a transformation jutsu. After the mask was broken and identity was revealed, there was no need to maintain the jutsu, plus Madara was running around so questions started to be asked leading up to the real suspicions. The precedent is not unheard of in the series, the Uchicha tablet has a veiling effect that is only revealed when viewed with a Sharingan. His mask was designed in a particular way in both it's iterations. His eye is veiled by some sort of jutsu.

    • @Khajitxi

And then he was paired up with a guy that managed to give himself an immunity to all sharingan based genjutsu without being detected? It's a nice idea but I don't like detracting from the insane accomplishment of what Deidara achieved by rendering himself immune to the sharringan.

    • @kmgyening

I mean, what would Obito's incentive have been to do that, though? Did he just not want people to recognize his specific Mangekyo pattern? Almost no one had seen it before, supposedly. So what difference would it have made?

    • @6SolCrossZero9
      @6SolCrossZero9 11 месяцев назад

@Khajitxi it's not a sharingan based jutsu, just a jutsu cast on the mask itself. Throughout the entire series Obito has never been shown using his MS while masked EXCEPT when it was first awakened at Rin's death. Coincidentally, Kakashi also awakened it on the same day when he killed her. Madara might have foreseen the possibility of Obito being found out and created the mask to function in a particular way while MS is active. It would explain Obito's use of MS abilities while seemingly only having a base sharingan and after the mask was broken it was only then when we saw his MS and confirmed his identity.

Sasuke using Amaterasu after losing the left eye might be an EMS thing that with EMS you can use both abilities in either eye. As for the Kakashi/Madara using Kamui to get into the dimension plot hole, I always understood his eyes ability as opening a portal to the dimension that sucks nearby objects/creatures into the dimension so I never saw that as a plot hole I just assumed he opened a portal a little closer to himself. DMS Kakashi having a full body Susanoo may have been because he also got the rest of Obitos Sage of Six Paths chakra but again all of these are just head canon hand waves to explain something that wasn't explained :P

Sadly, Naruto is just not a well written series. It has some awesome moments and I still love it, but the writing is a mess that starts out as small cracks, but the further you get into Shippuden the wider and more blatant they get
The sad thing is, it doesn’t actually become lower quality. Naruto always had the problems that become worse later, but early on we knew less so they were acceptable as they weren’t yet retcons
I still think the Elemental Jutsu system is one of the best magic system concepts that was fumbled terribly

In regards to Sasuke using Amaterasu, if you look up which eye Itachi used for it, the answers vary, but most sources say right. So because their eyes melded, Sasuke’s right eye combined with Itachi’s right can use Amaterasu and Kagatsuchi. While Sasuke’s left EMS was capable of Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. So basically Sasuke had a spare when it comes to Amaterasu

Hmmm... I think the plot hole it's bigger, because in theory the abilities of the that an Uchiha gains when they "develop" their sharingan are reflected in the eyes, yes, but they are born in their minds, more specific, in their brains. It's in their brains that the power of the Sharingan is created, even if then is reflected in the eyes, the eyes are just a "reflection of the hearth". What I mean is that only an Uchiha brain can develop an Uchiha eye. That doesn't mean that you can't use the power stored in the eyes itself, what it means is that Kakashi should have never had his Mangekyou awoken, neither access to a Kamui. This explanation it's canon, so everything related with Kamui it's a plot hole.
