This is the good side of the internet, people like you Rich. I have a voice recorder demanding 64kbps and Audacity was exporting in 128 kbps, I didn't find a way to solve this, but this video of yours, I watched it, and in a sec I saw the options menu you explained, changed it to 64 and solved the problem with my voice recorder. Thank you very much.
Thanks, mate. Your video is now coming up in the top few results in google so don't be surprised if it amasses quite a few views from now on. Your video certainly helped me. Cheers.
Really really appreciate your help. I was uploading my audios in Audible when this issue occurred. Thanks to your video, I got the remedy for this issue.
bit late but it drove me nuts finding so ill post here: to change the 24 bit rate to a lower rate before exporting: . To do this, you go to the drop down menu within the track window, go to Set Sample Format and select 16-bit float. this changes the bit rate before exporting!!
The problem is that the software does not preserve the original features of imported audio, making the person by saving the mp3 with 44100 and 32bits float, many find this incompatible with professional sound. The default cd is 44100 16 bit and 48000 24bit for dvd.
If I am recording, will it automatically be in 320kpbs or what, I don't want to record in lower quality and then export it for no reason at a higher rate.
I’m trying to record audio on audacity and video on my phone, but the audio is always faster therefore doesn’t sync with video. I tried this and didn’t work????
This is really late, but if you first choose to export the file as an MP3, there'll be a format option which you can export it to different kbps. Make sure you change the bit rate mode to constant to find the exact kbps you want.
Hi Rich, What happens exactly when you change these kbps settings 128 about average, sorry I'm learning Audacity to download my LPs to mp3 for my Mp3 player. Thank You. Brian UK
I Think You Need To Update your video for how to change the bitrate in audacity. the current version of audacity doesn't have an option button on export. changing of bitrate is on edit - preferences -- file formats I just manage to find it myself but thanks anyway.
OMG thank you so much for this!!!! I've had so much trouble editing my first audiobook submission and this video was a lifesaver!!!
