*Here are a few tips that I hope may help others that have this.*
*Disclaimer: This may be too long of a read*
I've suffered this condition ever since I was born and this breaks my heart because not everyone is able to afford to constantly see a dermatologist. So I mean, if it helps, it helps. I'm not trying to bring out the worst but i will say that I've tried alot of medications on both minor and major spectrums from hospital drugs to emolients or creams price range wise. I do have to add, expensive does not mean it would work. It's all about trial and error. Also please read it till the end, helps to get a good grasp on everything I mention and you could also pass this on to anyone you may know that has this condition, also knows as atopic dermatitis (eczema), major ones include seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. I'll start advising accordingly, right from showering, after showering and what you could have orally.
Avoid using soaps or shampoos that have any fragrance or is an irritant because it will prolong the
Inflammation and cause your skin to itch more. It may even cause it to become drier and may not allow the skin enough space in terms of time to heal:
*Brands for shampoo and body soap that is non irritant - ask or find the ones meant for dry or sensitive skin*
SebaMed (use the baby version if you feel that your skin may be extra sensitive - has both soap and shampoo)
    QV (has shampoos and soaps)
    Cetaphil (soaps only)
    Cerave (has both)
True earth (works better for psoriasis related, the only thing I've nevet tried but heard well, you could try the rest on the list if you wish)
Eucerin (more on the high end but has both)
I'm currently using a cream that works well for me but may not for others: Aveeno eczema therapy for my body. If you're anything like me and actually have very very sensitive skin, use the baby night time balm.
    *Other Alternatives*
*Vaseline* works too if your wounds have closed and you're just trying to actually moisturize budget wise. I would say mixing it with pure coconut oil (I'm talking organic af) to have that sort of consistency of staying on your body. Oil moisturizes the skin but dries kind of fast and sort of gets a little itchy (at least to me) so i mix them.
    *Other types of emolients*:
    Lipobase
    Cetaphil
    Dermalcalm (Mid price range)
    Mustela (Mid price range)
    Eucerin (Higher price range)
*NOTE* Take warm to cold showers to prevent your skin from being irritated and dehydrating with hot water. Avoid scrubbing when you have open wounds or scabs and if not, just lightly scrub if you wish, although thorough washing should be more than enough with the type of skin you have. Oh! Also, rub your body dry with a towel once you're out of the shower, pat dry should be enough leaving the skin not to dry and not too wet, just enough for the cream to be absorbed into the skin by the water that is still present on the surface. This applies basically as a general rule before applying any cream tbh.
    *For open wounds:*
Also know as a hydrocortisone or prednisolone, comes both oral and topical (applied on the skin)
    *SKIN*
    The creams:
    Elocom
    Fucicort
    Fucidin
Dermavate (The most extreme one that I use, may result in leaving skin discoloration)
They all work alike but sometimes one may not be suitable and you might need to keep changing. Give it from a few days to about 1 to 2 weeks maximum to take effect. I would like to add that one may not work for you but it does for others. Everyone is still different at the end of the day despite the same condition. So, yknow, trial and error.
*NOTE* When applying on your skin, steroids help but just ensure not to over put it. Maybe three times a day just on the area that's affected or open. Never all over the body unless your body is filled with open wounds. Applying them in patches would help.
After showers it is best to apply it immediately and let it sit about 15 to 20 minutes, in the meantime moisturize on the area that doesn't have the steroid cream and once it dries off, not necessarily completely but enough to be absorbed, then continue to moisturize the area.
If you happen to also have open wounds on your scalp, you could use the cream or for better results, use *Locoid*, you could either use the scalp lotion if the open wound on the head isn't that deep, or the alcohol concentrated one (this might be painful however, but you get used to it eventually).
If you have dry patches but no open wounds, then moisturize it with coconut oil. However that didn't work for me but i do consistently use the Aveeno eczema therapy lotion in small applications on the patches that are dry, especially after showering so that it gets absorbed. Works well for me. Again, trial and error.
    *ORAL*
I do recommend asking your doctor for permission if you can use it. Usually they're safe but have certain side effects that may differe from people to people. If it worsens, then i suggest you immediately stop the medication, let the reaction subside and then try something else. Although based off my experience, I've not had side effects, i just gradually needed to switch because of days when I needed more.
*Note* when taking these, a maximum of two tablets a day should be consumed. Maybe intervals if you wish, but this is to avoid possible palpitations or "your heart beating faster"
*Antihistamines* these lessens or decreases the itch
    Xyzal
    Claritine (not clarityne)
    Aerius
    Pheniram
Allegra (24h effect, one tablet in this case is enough)
*Best taken at night to avoid scratching the itch at night*
    Zyrtec
Chlorohistol (tablets or syrup, both make you sleepy)
    *Prednisolone (steroid, hydrocortisone)*
    Isolone
    Gupisone
Depending on the severity of your skin, you could take upto 15mg on intervals. But i would mostly suggest to stary with 10mg. Still see with your doctor if you can consume it because they are very strong but they take away the inflammation. I take them for a werk straight until the inflammation goes but I would suggest to gradually decrease the doses. From 10mg in 3 days, go upto 5mg. Unless my allergies or my skin flares up, then im injected with.. a shit tonne. Don't take these consistently in the long run and while on these medication, do not consume anything that could harm the liver such as alcohol and grapejuice (yes. Grapejuice. Look it up) as this could cause serious consequences. However, once you're off them, go ahead. But once you need them, eliminate anything that could affect the liver in the meantime.
If you are considering the whole medication thing, for steroid, i would suggest having this medicine called *Pantozol* or any medication that can coat your stomach so that you do not develop any ulcer or whatever that may destroy it. Yknow, with acidity and such.
    - Have them before eating and let it settle.
    - Never have the steroid without food.
    - Take them at interval timings, equally apart from each other. Once you miss your dose and it is time for the next, don't double take it.
Honestly varies but I'm speaking from experiene.
    *Things to remember:*
    -Rehydrate
-Give your skin some time to adjust to the product, otherwise jumping from one to the other may worsen it.
    - Dont take long showers. If you're sweaty, take a short once and repeat the process when moisturizing.
    - when you're dry, moisturize as much as possible and if you need to head out, apply in advance, this will give the cream some time to dry and be absorbed. If you wanan be on the safe side, apply once again.
    - don't wear materials that are too rough on your skin or maybe at least not so often especially when youhave open wounds to prevent from anything scraping or entering, or making you itch for any of that matter.
    - Dont have way too much spicy food. everything in moderation is best because otherwise having too much while sensitive to it may give you this illusion of needing or feeling the need to itch.
    - You can actually go out in the sun just as long as it is during the time of day it is healthy to do so which is in the morning for vitamin D for 10 to 30 min.
    - Try soaking by the beach once your skin is healed. doing this while you still have opem wounds may cause irritation or inflammation. Test it out in small patches if you wish.
*AND WE'RE DONE*. I know this has been way too long but i do hope this helps honestly. Pass it on aswell if you know someone that may need these tips.
Edit: to my lovelies that still battle with this condition such as myself and to the people that found at least a little bit of solice in this advice, you're wonderful, patient, still beautiful and you'll get through this

I literally cried while watching this video, so much I could relate to. People couldn’t understand why I need to run from the rain or the sun or avoid sweating as it would hurt sometimes. Going to the onsen is a pain as I would need to apply tons of cream to my skin subsequently. Sometimes I would wish that they could feel the itch or pain for a day so that they can understand what’s it’s like. Through the years, I learn that applying a good moisturizer after every shower and keeping hydrated is the key to reducing the chances of my flare ups. Thanks for making this video. I have eczema since young and it was a real struggle seeing my parents struggle with the kind of care that is needed for my skin. Coming from a working class family, that makes it worse cos they had to spend a sum of money on something that is not life threatening. You know.. spend money on skincare products and visits to the doctor. Also, not forgetting the MANY home remedies and good "advices" offered by well-meaning aunties which often didn't really work for me (things like what one of the ladies.. soak yourself in sea water, steep yourself / bath yourself in tea water, I've ever heard of just shower with warm water only lol!).
It's hard to explain to others on so many things - why I can't buy certain clothes made of certain material (cos then I will get contact dermatitis too), why I can't accept scented moisturisers as presents, why I can't just use ANY shampoo or shower gel from the minimart (girl, it ain't because I have expensive taste. MY SKIN NEEDS GOOD DERMO PRODUCTS so that I can stay sane and not scratch myself 24/7), why there are blood spots on my sheets etc. It's endless and I can go on and on about this. But all eczema sufferers will know very well what I've just said here!

I myself also have eczema since I was a baby. Now I'm 19 years old and I'm still dealing with it. My parents spend so much money just to find me a good doctor to cure my eczema. It's really very painful. You can't do sports, swimming and all that most people can do. You can't eat what most people can eat like seafood and will get rash. I feel insecure most of the times when I'm going out with my friends. But I'm really glad that they are very understanding towards my condition. They even bought me lotions as a gift for my birthday. It's just unexplainable how eczema is.

More than suffering physically, eczema does great damage to your self esteem. I've had it since I was 10. I am 30 now and it has come and gone. The worst was during my younger years and my hands would completely be covered in eczema and bubble-sores (vesicular hand dermatitis) to the point that my nails would fall off (sorry for the graphic detail). As a kid, you don't really understand why this happens. You're shoved with all these medicines (oral medication, creams, steroids, change in diet, lifestyle, name it) nothing seems to work and you just learn to live with it. I thank God everyday for having amazing parents who were my support system and sent me to the best dermatologists. As an adult now eczema free, it has made me somehow more confident to talk about the condition. Kudos to these people who suffered way more than I ever did, being confident enough sharing their stories now in the hopes of helping others. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Never stop researching and exploring for new ways to beat this condition.

Oh gosh. I really needed this. I had eczema as a kid and it reappeared after my puberty. I actually had pretty skin throughout puberty and then it hit me. I have scars on my hands now and people started saying stuff: " Oh poor you, without it, you would have such nice hands." or "Do you even wash?" or "What's wrong with your face?" It always gets me. However I'm so lucky I've got very understanding fiance, who is not embarrassed and actually encourages me to not wear makeup and to wear short sleeves when I feel like it. I hope everyone can find a person like that. :)
And to everyone who's still battling: You are a beautiful person no matter what. It's the character, not the skin condition that can make the world a better place.

I've had eczema since I was a toddler, the skin behind my elbows and knees are constantly riddled with scabs and dry, flaky skin. When I was younger, I used to get sooo many stares and comments about my skin. I used get called 'elephant' because of how dry my skin was. Kids would even go out of their way to avoid me because their parents told them it was contagious (which it isn't). For me, the psycological effects of having to deal with the stares and comments outweighed the physical pain. I'm thankful my skin is a lot better now and I've found ways to deal with flare ups.

I used to think that those more senior to him were jerks for calling him 痒男 (itchy boy) and all other names. But after a while i started to see that behind that facade they actually cared a lot for him and took extra effort to take over some of his responsibilities even though he never complained about it :)))

Dont worry about it. Time will heal it, but even if it doesn't one day someone will come into your life and accept as well as love for who you are. Sometimes I feel eczema for me can bring me benefit. It is able to show me who are my true friends & who really care me for deeply. We eczema people gave up much about appearance that's when we work more on building our personal character. It also changes our perspective on others, we tend to focus more on another person's character and behaviours more than their appearance. To me eczema can be a curse but at the same time a blessing. It shows me the true side of another person.

the most obvious part was my neck, followed by my eyelids and then at my 2 armpits.
went to dermatologist at hospital. used steroid cream but also tried to lessen the use of it coz i scared of the withdrawal thingie.
also tried all sorts of eczema washes & loitions from Aveeno, Dove and Eversoft.
then a few days back, i used Johnsons & Johnsons Milk & Oats bath for babies.

Thank you for making a video about eczema. I've had eczema since I was around 13 (im 20 now) and have been struggling with it for all these years. My eczema is mostly behind my knees, with big dark patches of skin due to scarring. Back in secondary school I had classmates who would call me dirty because of how my skin looked and honestly that affected my self-esteem. I struggled with wearing shorts because I was afraid of how others were going to look at me and this kind of insecurity really affects you for a long time. I haven't been able to wear shorts in public ever since i've gotten my eczema, and even on better days when my scars were healing, I still couldn't bring myself to go out in any clothing that did not hide my scars. It comforts me a little more to know that I'm not alone in this. If you see someone with eczema, please be a little nicer to us!! eczema is not contagious

omg. I remembered that I commented about this topic on the first video in the second season and I’m really thankful for this!! As an ‘Ecze-mate’, I feel like eczema awareness isn’t as big as it should be in Singapore and boy was it tough to find someone who I can relate to in the media, and even in the streets too- tough to see people who look like you because you’re just one of the minority. This was really real and personal to me because it reminds me of when I was growing up as a child, (my eczema is hereditary) just like them I’ve heard my fair share on things and homemade remedies from peeps who are brave enough to step into someone else’s comfort zone. I also really love the questions that are out of just the ‘eczema bearer’ zone, talking about confidence and self-love. (This shows that y’all really understand the point of how we are all more than what we suffer from & I really appreciate that!!) This video’s placed in a special part of my heart and goodness 18 minutes passed so quickly!! So awesome and can’t wait for what’s next :’) and for those of y’all who happens to be struggling with their eczema I hope that one day y’all would come to realise that life is to short to join in on those who can’t understand you and is insensitive about it, so spend that time learning to embrace what you have. A thing I came to figure out myself is that truth be told everyone has some kind of sickness/illness too, but majority of the time theirs are being battled internally and ours just happens to be externally as well for the whole world to witness. :’) good to know that I’m not alone, this was really comforting!! Thank you once again!! 🥺🥳😄

This video made me so happy. I have eczema and it used to be so bad and horrible and I was so depressed, I struggled a lot and hated myself. But somehow over the past two years, it has gotten so much better- I don’t ever get flares up anymore and my skin is smooth. I’m not sure how that happened but I’m thankful anyway. Please have hope and try to live your life, don’t waste your days even tho it’s hard. 화이팅~

My eldest teenager has eczema since she was a toddler. We went through hospitalization, compression treatment and we still visit to the Dermatologist, with less visits now. It breaks our heart when it flares up, especially this time of the year when it gets REALLY HOT & HUMID. PE, outdoor camps are painful for her but good thing is perseverance : try-play first, pain later.
We always get recommendation and questions on which Dr we visit, what remedy, cream, ointment, food to eat or not to eat.. Sometimes we wonder if the questions, question our parenting ways.. like as if we do not know how to care for her diet, cleanliness at home and so on.
What I learnt is, eczema may spread or "run" to different places. It used to be on her skin folding (arms, back of knee) and now it is on her neck & face. I also learnt that different eczema people needs different care and it cannot be any-o-how listen to whoever and trial & error... because it really hurts. What works for you, may not work for me.
Always remember what matters, more meaningful and attractive - is what's inside 💝
Thank you for this feature, OGS!

Hello! :-)) I just really wanted to thank you guys for putting this video out and also my fellow eczemates(!!) for sharing their stories with us. :-) Your stories really resonated with me. :''")
I've had aunties point and talk about me, parents pulling their children away from me when they got too close and people looking at me with disgust. With time I got used to it, but I always wished there was some way to educate the public on eczema and other skin conditions as well.
I've been having a really bad skin period and this video honestly gave me a lot of strength knowing that I'm not in this alone.
So to all my other eczemates, I'm here for you too

I went through steroid withdrawal when I was 18, after having eczema since birth. My skin around my ears, nose, mouth, elbows, neck, armpits it was all broken and weeping. So many people were telling me oh go to your Dr and they will give you a cream, then they are surprised when I say 'No, this is BECAUSE of the steroid cream'. I wish people who are ignorant would just keep their mouth shut sometimes.

I developed eczema in my early 20s, and yes it definitely affects my confidence and social life. I have eczema all over my face and neck. Last few months started to grow on my feet and back of my elbow. I have been living in the dark since then, if I expose to the sun (even just a little bit)/ changing of temperature/ sweat/ stress. My skin will sting badly. Other time is just red, itching, inflammation. Never expect I will have this in my life and I'm a newbie of eczema, and now I realize I'm not the only one who suffering everyday! Let's battle together! Good days will come very soon!

I also developed eczema on my hands and feet during my late teens/early 20s (during my college years). It has affected my confidence/social & work life since my hands are always inflamed/have scars & covered in bandaids. My co-workers probably thought it was weird that my hands were always covered in them haha, but I’ve learned to live with it and am grateful that it’s quite mild compared to others. Ive become comfortable telling friends about my condition & theyve been very understanding. We’ll all overcome this!

I have Eczema and people avoid me in class because they think Eczema is a virus which can be spread but in reality it is a genetic thing. I keep getting bullied for my skin and avoided the way I look and my condition. I believe that Singaporeans should raise awareness of the truth of Eczema and what is Eczema. It would really help me and those who suffer from the effects of other's views on Eczema.
Could we all appreciate that we live together and even through epidemics we are together as One. People who despises others for the way they look or what they befriend with, are those who destroys it. I really hope that Singapore could raise even more awareness about it and how to take care of others who have it.

I’ve had eczema for close to 30 years. And I can definitely relate to many of the stories here. The scars are there, not just the ones that are on our skin, but the psychological ones and the insults or painful remarks that were thrown our way. I will always remember that I’ve had so-called good friends saying to me that my skin is like a snake. These comments and remarks hurt, but all I can say is that I’ve learnt to rise above these and ignore them. I still struggle with my eczema till this day and it’s not easy. But to my fellow eczema suffers you are not alone!

The most annoying thing is people asking me not to scratch. I wouldn't scratch if it wasn't this itchy...
For those who asks me is that thing contagious, or that is disgusting, I just ignore them, but hearing don't scratch just makes me really tired.

Wow these people are so brave. When I started to have eczema symptoms, I was put on topical steroids and it made my skin thin which lead to stretch marks. It ruined my self esteem, but I'm glad these people are here to prove that this condition can't stop you from loving yourself. Thank you so much for this

I cried so much watching this. I have been having eczema for my whole life (I'm 24 now), and I couldn't agree more with everything that has been said. Especially when people question my "faith", saying I'm not religious so that's why God is testing me smh. I had my own relatives saying I will never get married because no one would like someone with a skin condition. Living with eczema is truly hard, mentally, physically and even financially. Watching this video warms my heart because there are people out there who understands me. So thank you a lot for this. ❤

Wow thank you for this. I thought I was the only one being dramatic about how much it sucks to have eczema. I was born with it and i just started to get control over it! I’m 22 now. People would call me a drama queen for getting anxious when it was too hot or not going in the water because it would burn 🙄. I was actually taken out of class in 1st grade because the teacher thought I was contagious 😪

I keep praying and praying that medical world's hope can make a cure for eczema. I have this for 20 years until now. This skin disease destroys my childhood and teenage life. I have no confidence and socialization. Emotional breakdowns hit me much. It's really difficult. Hoping for such miracle. :( :( :(

I cried several times watching this. I also have it and sometimes you feel like hell inside of you and you can't do anything about it... Stay strong and just make sure you look at yourself in the mirror, you have to, you need to, because this way you start to learn and accept this condition, then you began to love yourself and that's the first step to get over with a part of the pain.

I had minor eczema on my face for a couple months, even though it has completely recovered now, it is still a nightmare for me to recall the feeling of waking up with an itchy, burning face in the middle of the night. I’m really sorry for what they’ve been through and I truly feel what they’re feeling now. Everyone who are suffering from this are so brave. Thank you for sharing your story

Thank you so much for making this video. As someone who have had eczema since i was 4, i really never had a day of peace since then. Every now and then my skin will blow up and i absolutely hate showers because they sting so bad. One time it was so bad i had to stay home from school for a week. I was shedding skin so badly then.
Was bullied since kindergarten and no one really understands me, they think its contagious and so on yada yada.
I feel so bad for my parents who tried so hard to keep me from scratching myself and them spending so much just so they can find a solution to my eczema.
I am really thankful for them though.
I'm also glad we are getting more representation and awareness and i really do hope one day everyone knows that eczema is a normal thing (as in the sense its non contagious and so on) and i hope they learn to be more understanding to us. For now i am just grateful for all the people who have understood me during my life. Thank you .

And I thought I HAD eczema, turns out mine is very mild! I have had it my whole life but it never made me look odd, I just can't usually wear short dresses for example because my legs are always bleeding and have scars all over, my arms and the rest of my body can also get really irretated ,but I didn't know it could be this serious...
