FYI for LEM variant: There is a cocking piece elbow spring attached to the hammer axle that needs to go between the sear and the hammer. Make sure both legs of the spring are between the sear and hammer. Other than that all the steps are exactly the same. Took me a while to figure that one out, almost all the guides on RUclips are for DA/SA guns, which don't have the elbow spring.
Despite the differences in function on my HK45CT, this and another user's detail strip video were instrumental in helping me build the confidence to buy and install this myself. About a week ago I was about to buy a Colt Rail Gun 1911 because I just love them, but this upgrade on the 45CT is probably what will finally ween me off of 1911s for good. Just fantastic. Thank you so much.
I found that replacing the trigger with a flat-faced trigger was the best mod I could have made. Because of my large hands, I always had trouble getting the leverage right for that double-action shot, because of how curved the stock trigger is. The straight trigger made a huge difference, and combined with this kit, its even nicer!
Excellent-made what looked like an impossible install, easy. Plus, explaining the function of the parts tremendously helpful. They (greyguns)SHOULD pay you for this essential set of clear directions. There are two other "install videos" out there which mis-direct. One on the firing pin block spring, and the other, ignoring the longer pin install-which you perfectly cover and demonstrate. Thank you!
Just ordered my short reset and straight trigger from gray guns for my p30l and wanted to get a little research on installation and man, best video I’ve seen on it, now I just need to find an installation for the actual trigger so I can switch out the factory trigger for gray guns straight trigger
I don’t have any plans to put a flat trigger in any of my guns, but I will try to shoot a vid of how to remove and replace an HK trigger next week. It should help you sort it out.
Unreal. I have never seen such a detailed break down and reassemble. I will be referring to this a couple more time because I just ordered the trigger after b being on the waiting list. Thank you too much.
I gave a local "gun smith" my p30 to do this, almost 2 years later he gave it back and threw in the towel, I was intimidated seeing other tutorials on doing this install. I said fuck it, lets try'r again. Paused, rewound, played, paused rewound etc a hundred times and i'm happy to say you got me thru it. The kit is installed and I can't believe how amazing it feels. Thank you so much man!
i know this video is couple yrs old but it saved my life. I don't have a gunsmith I trust because when I ask them about working on my HK I can see it in their face they don't anything to do with it, so I wanted to do this reset kit myself and I have never worked on my HK as it is my carry gun and I generally do not screw around with that much. But I followed your steps and bam, here I am with a massively improved trigger. Thx a lot.
No sure if you're still uploading videos but wanted to say a big thank you for this particular video. I had swapped out the trigger kit and had some issues. Reviewing this helped me determine that I hadn't swapped out the slightly larger roll pin. I was an idiot and thought it was just a replacement in case another roll pin was damaged. Thanks again. Great work!!
Thank you very much. I bought this kit a while ago, and I was to lazy to instal it. Today I found your video, and as soon as it ended, I jumped and got my tools, took me 15 minutes, did not break a sweat. Once again, thank you.
Holy shit. Getting that spring in the grip in place was a challenge. By the time I got it done, I was sweaty and shaking from happiness lol. The short reset kit is AMAZING. Literally cuts the reset on the LEM trigger in half. Such a better feeling trigger now. $85 for a simple part is expensive but it's worth it.
I just ordered Gray Guns Short reset and straight trigger for my H&K P30L V1 LEM. 10 years later, I finally got it. It was not easy finding it in Canada.
Hi Cody. This was the one of the best Hk p30 disassembly videos I've seen on the net. Thank you for making it a breeze for me to install the high quality Grayguns parts.
You could always shut the video down at that point. Less experienced shooters should hear good advice to be able to make good decisions. DA/SA is a much safer platform and new shooters should know that. Particularly for IWB EDC.
Awesome video, first one I've seen with the needed detail. Made the installation a breeze and the theory behind the operation was an added bonus. Please keep making videos!!
Just put it in my hk p30sk and wow such a difference didn't put in the lightened spring just the lower kit such an improvement reset is so much better travel went down quite a bit thanks for this installation vid slightly different from the p30
Very good video about the installation process. I just installed the kit on my P30L v3 following your steps without a hickup, and one step less: I didnt remove the hammer nor the hammer axle. Thank you!
Just bought this gun today. Awesome video!! Just ordered the kit! Hopefully I can install it as easy as you did. I’ll probably end up taking it to my local gunsmith.
Just bought P30LS V3 in .40 on sale! I couldn't find one without a safety. I've installed the GG kits in both my USP pistols, and I'm ordering another for the P30. Can't find a video for the safety, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to figure it out. Great content with your explanation of how the parts work together, thank you!
Was considering getting the short reset and the flat trigger kit. After watching this video and reading comments, think I'll just get the short reset kit. Don't think I'll attempt installing it myself- I'm a wuss and my eyes are shit. Luckily, a buddy of mine was an armorer in the marines. Gonna show him this video and ask a favor. Thank you very much for this video.
Excellent video, as I used it to install the kit in my 2021 date code P30sk. My tweezers I used to install the slide spring was slightly magnetized. That sprivng came out unexpectedly and now has a new home. Guess I don't need it. Love the reset.
Hey that was a awesome video. I just picked up a P30SK and you sold me on the Grey Guns Short Reset System. Thanks a bunch for a detailed video and a thorough explanation. I’m have to say the “Learn to Shoot” comment made me laugh. When I went looking for my SK, one of the shops tried to show me a Glock when they said they did not have a HK in stock. When I told him I’m not a novice shooter, he went into a hissy and didn’t much care for my comment. 🤣
Another nice feature about a hammered DA/SA is second strike capability, hammered pistols or revolvers are all I carry. If a striker fire goes "CLICK" instead of "BANG" you have to manually jack the slide to reset the trigger... you could be dead by then, just my view. Just received my short reset kit along with the "flat" trigger for my LEM P30sk, can't wait to install it. Thanks for this, huge help.
Terrific video! Thanks so much. I purchased the Grayguns for my P30. I didn't mind the stock DA trigger pull but I was not able to get used to the long reset on the SA pull.
Excellent instructional video. However, I have a new Pete 30 V1 LEM and the parts look different so I’ll hope and wait for you to publish the LEM version. TY
This video helped me out big time. Thank you. There were some parts that were different for me though, since I have an LEM V1. I had to source that information elsewhere.
Followed these instructions exactly, abs struggled putting the roll pin back into the slide. For some reason I couldn’t get the firing pin to align and broke the firing pin spring. Had to order a couple from HK Parts. Hopefully I’ll get it right next time.
Excellent video. Ive started to see people brag about the new gray gun flat trigger and light lem kit. I'm starting to consider it since my p30 was my first pistol and I'd never replace it but my wife can't shoot the DA mode since her fingers don't reach.
You could make it a LEM 4.1, which may solve the reach problem as it reduces the pretravel. However, the shortened reset kit is not available yet for the 4.1 if you have the safety version.
Fantastic video; was having issues into I saw your video on the installation of the new sear pin on the decocker. After that everything else went on as a breeze. Need to make a video of the installation of the Gray Guns flat trigger on the P-30
I see that the sear is attached to the de-cocker. Obviously it is a very different animal than a p series with a safety or a LEM. My question is about this install on my P2000sk DA / SA with a de-cocker. Do I need to remove the hammer spring / Strut / hammer to install the GG Short Reset Kit?
So you don’t technically have to install the sear roll pin for it to still work reliably correct? Please let me know. Thanks for all the hard work. Great video.
A very good tutorial on the installation of a trigger mod. much-favored by some. Explanation of the various trigger/fire-control components and their functions. At the end of the day, the result is an improved trigger function with a much shorter "reset". But I wonder why we need such a short reset. Do we need to fire 6rnds. in 4secs. Is the name of the game to empty the magazine in record time? Do we need to fire 10rnds. when 1 would do? Do we need to feed our sidearm w/drum mags? Are we destined to blast away everything in sight like "Scarface" with his "little friend"?
Well done 👍🏻, I got two question, first for a LEM trigger without a decocker is it the same? Second, same gun only .40 S&W is 100% the same? Thank you very much !!!
I know this is probably "verboten" but as i am looking at the mechanics of the action, would increasing the bend on the trigger arm shorten up initial take up and make the trigger break further forward?
When you pull the trigger when dry firing, and rack before releasing to the reset, does the hammer move up and down freely (manually push up to vertical and drops to the horizontal when you let go of it)? Once you release to reset there is a little vertical movement. Is that normal?
I've loved the results of the GG trigger install, but I've noticed since the install that there is a bunch of brass filings on the internals when I go to clean it. Curious if anyone else has noticed this, and if I happened to do something wrong in the install.
Thanks for that great and informative video! I live in California where the P30 isn't on the roster, but the P2000 is. Can I assume the trigger system on the P2000 is almost the same as the P30? I'm a 1911 guy but want to get my first 9mm DA/SA pistol, so went to the store and tried a HK P2000, Sig SP2022, CZ P-01, Beretta 92FS and Beretta PX4 Storm. Just dry fire and manipulate the ergonomics to see which would be the best way for me to go. I went in thinking I'd prefer the PX4 with it's rotating barrel known for it's flatter recoil, but it was the one I liked the least, (to put it mildly). I liked the stock trigger on the 92FS the best of the bunch but didn't like the decocker. The P-01 felt best in my hand, like it was made specifically for my hand, but the decocker was horrendous, got caught part way then with more pressure finally did it's job, the DA trigger pull was the worst, but the SA wasn't bad. But when I picked up the P2000 it really felt like a high quality firearm, it felt good in the hand, almost as nice as the P-01, I really liked the location of the decocker, the slide release is in a great place, sort of like my 1911, but I found the mag release hard to manipulate with my thumb, but easy on the other side with my index finger, but I did not like the trigger, DA or SA. I knew if I got the P2000 I would have to have trigger work done to it, but I liked it overall more than the 92FS, which given the trigger, should have been my favorite. I'm glad I found this video as it helps me make my choice, if I can get the P2000 trigger more like the 92FS, I think I will have found the 9mm for me. Thanks!
I converted my 45c V3 to LEM. I had rattling coming from trigger group. I am concerned that this will happen if I add this kit to my P30. Have you noticed rattling on your pistol?
No rattling. Your 45c shouldn’t be doing that, either. My concern would be that the LEM elbow spring might not be connected properly. I would go ahead with the install of the Grayguns kit but I would be sure that the elbow spring is properly seated when you put the hammer back in the pistol. If that doesn’t correct the rattle, You should look into having it checked out by an HK Armorer or a competent gunsmith (I.e. one that has experience with HK pistols).
So I installed the kit on an LEM v2, seems like I got everything right. Gun operates normally, haven’t been able to shoot yet. Reset seems unchanged. Any ideas?
Cody, I noticed that you didn’t use any lube when reassembling your pistol…am I to assume that was just to expedite the process? Overall, an outstanding video! I watched it once all of the way through before proceeding with my own P30L upgrade and it went off w/out a single hiccup.
Good stuff. Installing the grayguns kit now on my p30l v1 lem. Ran into a problem with the hammer falling apart when I removed it and a spring came out. Any tips on how the hammer goes back together?
Karsten Zane I don’t have an LEM gun on hand. As soon as the social distancing ends I’ll borrow one and do a vid on it. I’ve done several LEM conversions.
I cannot remove the firing pin nor the firing pin spring on my P30 SK with trigger but I was able to remove the safety plunger and spring. The firing pin seems pinned but I don't see any roll pins. Weird
Just saw this. The proper procedure to remove the firing pin is: 1. Remove the roll pin retaining the firing pin. 2. Depress the plunger safety and allow the firing pin to pop out of the back of the slide. (I usually use a small pair of pliers to pull it out all the way). 4. The plunger safety and spring will the be free to exit the gun. You should not be able to remove the plunger before the pin and spring have come out of the gun.
What an excellent video!! Just got a P30 and was pleasantly surprised how nice my trigger is. I got lucky somehow. Mine is chambered in 40. I’d like to get a longer barrel just for the length, not worried about a suppressor. Do you think a P30L barrel would fit in my regular P30?
This trigger kit is great Hk should buy them wholesale and install them at the factory. Or buy the rights. Or... Whatever, wtf hk, why the step back on the trigger? Usp forever
Greyguns needs to pay you commission because there's no other video out there as detailed as yours. Made the install a breeze on my HK P2000 LEM
Lol. Thank you! Tell them that. I’d settle for a couple more kits for my HK45 and my other P30.
Same proccess on my p2k sa/da?
This was so much more helpful than the video put out by grayguns. Thank you for the detail. Made life easy

This video made me comfortable changing my trigger on my own. thank you!

I had this more or less figured out, but your video certainly made me much more confident when doing the SRT kit install. Thank you for your effort.

Hi Cody. This was the one of the best Hk p30 disassembly videos I've seen on the net. Thank you for making it a breeze for me to install the high quality Grayguns parts.
Saved my butt
It's not a glock ha
Grayguns kit is FANTASTIC! Delivered 110% what I was looking for in the P30
Great video! Thank you! Installation was a breeze and the improvement in the trigger reset with the greyhound system is unbelievable.
Top notch instruction sir. Drop the double action lecture next time. Cheers.

Amazing! I hope this comes to the HK45 too. I've wanted a metal trigger in mine for so long.

Great walk-through Cody. Just installed it in my P30L and wow, what an improvement!
Just bought this gun today. Awesome video!! Just ordered the kit! Hopefully I can install it as easy as you did. I’ll probably end up taking it to my local gunsmith.
Jimmy James wu with a little understanding of the mechanics of the gun and some help from RUclips, gunsmith visits should be very rare.

Very good instructions. Worked for me. Big difference. More than 30%
Awesome, thanks. I have the LEM version so will be cautious of that spring mentioned in the comments.

strykeback1 the Grayguns kit won’t solve a trigger reach problem. The LEM guns have the same trigger reach length as the DA pull on a V3 gun.
You could make it a LEM 4.1, which may solve the reach problem as it reduces the pretravel. However, the shortened reset kit is not available yet for the 4.1 if you have the safety version.
Very helpful video, much appreciated for the useful info and explanations 🙏
I think you did A lot more than it needed to be
Great instructional, Cody!
Fantastic video; was having issues into I saw your video on the installation of the new sear pin on the decocker. After that everything else went on as a breeze. Need to make a video of the installation of the Gray Guns flat trigger on the P-30
Fantastic video, thanks brother
God bless this man
Love the comment. Learn to shoot. Classic and true.
This was an excellent video. Very helpful in understanding how the parts work together. I have a p2000 V3. Can i expect the same results?
Jonathan Ferrante yes. The results should be identical as the P2000 is internally identical to the P30.
Spooky McSpook cool, I installed the SRT and took it shooting last week. Much improved. Thanks again for this video.
Excellent video. Keep the good work.
Best 35:24 I’ve ever spent on RUclips. Any way you’ll install the Grayguns flat trigger and have a tutorial for that?
I'd love your opinion on replacing the sear spring with the nickel match and maybe a lighter hammer strut spring?
My hammer strut won't budge. I had to put it all back together and send the Graygun kit back.
Bummer.
So you don’t technically have to install the sear roll pin for it to still work reliably correct? Please let me know. Thanks for all the hard work. Great video.
Great vid Cody, do the gray guns reset kit on a USP! Or better yet, take a USP from DA/SA to LEM Match Hybrid with a reset kit!
If someone needs to be shot, I’d rather shoot them a bunch than not enough. And if I can shave a few hundredths off the split times, all the better.
excellent vid thank you
Does the thumb decocker still work properly after this trigger upgrade?
Good video. Good explanation. Thank you.
Not a good idea. The trigger bar likely has a heat treat and could snap if you try to bend it.
Is the take down for this any different if I have the LEM trigger system?
Nice video man. Very detailed.
When you pull the trigger when dry firing, and rack before releasing to the reset, does the hammer move up and down freely (manually push up to vertical and drops to the horizontal when you let go of it)? Once you release to reset there is a little vertical movement. Is that normal?

Thanks!
Get the P2000. The installation of the kit is exactly the same as in the video. The P2000 and P30 have identical fire control.
@@bravo1IsixI Thanks! And I'll refer back to this video when I do the installation.
What size punches did you use?
Any ideas?
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.. Does the kit works on the LEM trigger as well?
Cody, I noticed that you didn’t use any lube when reassembling your pistol…am I to assume that was just to expedite the process? Overall, an outstanding video! I watched it once all of the way through before proceeding with my own P30L upgrade and it went off w/out a single hiccup.
Thank you so much for this video
I don't see any difference in reset after installing the gray guns kit...?
Excellent
It might be too much to ask. But how different is it with a P30S or the lem trigger
Great detail! Thanks!
Nice Black Bay.
Thanks. You’re obviously a man with good tastes.
EXCELLENT MY MAN!!!!
Can we do the plate itself and not replace the spring?
@@spookymcspook5936 thx man. Can't wait to see more vids. Appreciate it!
are these the same across all calibers?
Yes.
So is single action pull weight reduced?
Is this procedure nearly identical for the p2ksk v2 (LEM)?
Princess_Yow Not identical as the LEM mechanism is quite different.
@@spookymcspook5936 I eventually figured it out. Thanks for the reply.
Is it much different for a HK45c?
@@bravo1IsixI Thank you .... I will save this url for the next time I do a deep cleaning. I appreciate your response.
This trigger kit is great
Hk should buy them wholesale and install them at the factory.
Or buy the rights.
Or...
Whatever, wtf hk, why the step back on the trigger? Usp forever
