    This is my review of the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7. The Arctis Nova 7 Wireless gaming headset isn't absolutely horrible however in my opnion it doesn't live up to absurdly high expectations set by other reviewers. There's no denning that they're very comfortable and feature packed but when it comes down to it the sound profile isn't all that it's cut out to be. In this SS Arctis Nova 7 review I go over why I think that is.

    Thank you for the video. I ordered these on a a Black Friday deal. I have the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro and I like them but not at the price tag. Also the app to update won’t launch on Mac, I don’t have a Windows PC. All I want is a headset for gaming on both consoles and occasionally sync to my Mac for homework.

    I know i'm a bit late to this review, but is there any good reason you can think of that your mic test sounded much, much worse than any other review of the product? Because it seemed almost intentional unless your product was defective.

    • @DatGoodSir

      It can sound quite a bit better if you speak quieter and place it to the side of your mouth rather than directly in front of it but it's still quite lack luster I also didn't use the EQ software to doctor it up.

    Just saying if you want a headset that sounds like Bose or Sony headphones than you will be spending well over $180 for it. If you want a decent mid range headset than these are actually good. If you want something that absolutely blows your socks off, has amazing bass and clear dialogue than you’re looking at $300-$400 as this is how much it cost for premium headphones.

    • @DatGoodSir

      These aren't awful sounding for the money however they aren't nearly as good as everyone else made them out to be and I personally found them very disappointing because these were being reviewed by others as if they are the best sounding headset period regardless of price. I had to curb those expectations. I do think they are fairly priced for what you're getting though.

    • @daben1074

      @@DatGoodSir That is likely because people have such low expectations and haven’t used or heard the higher quality $300-400 xbox headsets to compare these too. If you haven’t heard anything better than these are a massive upgrade above the regular $80 Xbox headsets most people use.

Only disadvantage being the space you need, and ig you listen to music at the same time of playing. Be smart.

    I got the original Arctis 7 Wireless and those were a great set of headphones, even for listening to music. They weren't the best but their sound was certainly far from offensively bad, after EQing. Out of the box, they were a bit muddy and had the same overwhelming bass that engulfed every other frequency, just like you said, but again, fine after an EQ. Pleasant to listen to music to. The bass isn't as "punchy" where it counts but it's still a nice, sparkly bright sound.
    I then picked up the Nova Pro Wireless and, I don't know if I got a lemon or if GG's EQ glitched out on me or what, but the sound quality on those was HORRENDOUS. Like, $15 walmart clip-on on-ear headphones bad. Like Nintendo DS speakers bad. Even after EQing them I could not get them to sound better than offensively bad. I returned them pretty much instantly.
    If you've used the OG 7 and the Nova 7, how do their sound profiles compare? And if you use the Nova 7 and the Nova Pro, do they sound similar? Because I really have to think I got a bad set, or maybe the EQ glitched out on me. And the reason why I think this is because, tonight, my beloved Arctis 7s started to sound really bassy, and despite my efforts I was unable to fix the sound... until I uninstalled GG (and replaced it with an older version of Engine) and reset the headset, and now they sound just like they did before.

    • @Soandnb
      @Soandnb 2 месяца назад

      And an edit, I just picked up a set of the NPWs that were actually new, and not used off of eBay. As well as installing a different version of GG. They sound a lot better, to the point where I am satisfied.

    I turn on a youtube song with the correct setting for music (on that sonar program) and the damn thing sounds muffled/tinny and constantly loops during the song.
    If i can't get it working as even a fucking baseline headset should, i'm returning them.

    I've recently bought the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X due to it's multi-platform connectivity, the fact that it has a dongle ánd an aux cable for wired use and mostly, because of many experienced people saying it's a good headset. Sadly for me, mine has some issues and I don't know how to fix them (yet). Firstly, when I record a video on my PS5 and watch it back later, (EA FC 24) my voice sounds a bit elektronic during random moments every several sentences despite me lowering the mic volume to 50% or so because of the max mic level being too loud and my voice then making the mic pop. I haven't heard the many, many tech youtubers I watched mention this problem at all. The mic also doesn't sound like a 150 dollar headset level mic but more like a budget headset's mic. I've also used the Steelseries GG app's engine to adjust the settings, including the mic, to make them better based on tech youtubers' tips. The headset also occasionally loses connection with the dongle whether I use the extension cord with it or the dongle on it's own despite the fact that I'm only a couple of meter away from the dongle. My brother has the same headset and we use ours simultanuously on PS5 to make video's for ourselves and he has more of a static hiss when his headset is on while I experience more of a robot voice during every few words used in every few sentences. Does anyone have any useful solutions to maybe help make this headset worth it's cost?

You do understand that a device designed solely for pc and a device that will work with a plethora of devices cannot be fairly compared right? Why would a pc gamer even consider a device that has been engineered in a way to work with other devices? That would be like getting annoyed at car because trains go straight to a destination rather than having to go around places? I look at reviews a lot and it’s really starting to annoy me that there’s content out there like this - the kind of content that only exists because you either didn’t think it through, or worse you did and just wanted another video uploaded.

    99% of any troubleshooting you see online will just be irrelevant nonsense about the similarly named predecessor headset, the Nova 7 wireless. No info about the mic being too quiet and the headset loving to just jump off the desk or wherever you have it for no reason.
    The headband is also too big. This headset was clearly meant for airheads and you will also notice a lot of your own hair falling out because this thing loves to rub up against your scalp. I had a better experience with the cheaper turtle beach headsets that actually fit my head and didn't cause pre-mature hair loss.

Where the Nova 7 has an advantage is the battery life and noise-cancelling mic. The G1 has better range thanks to larger drivers and a mic that picks up more ranges. But if you care about music, you'll skip both and go Sennheiser or HiFiMan

      @DatGoodSir  4 месяца назад +1

      I also agree it's not fair to compare them. The reason I did is because lots of other reviewers talked as if these were the absolute best period, a statement I 100% disagree with.

      @@DatGoodSir As a Nova 7 owner, I did agree with some of your points. However, I think at $150, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better pair until you hit the $250 mark. That's really where the cost-to-performance sets the Nova 7 apart, because most gamers could live with the tradeoffs and be perfectly content. So they're the end-all-be-all of $150 and cheaper sets, but to your point, not as well-rounded as some slightly more expensive sets

    Nah, I own these and they sound great, what more could you want from a pair of gaming headphones? Flat and clear wide-spectrum sound. plus an EQ to go with it, so u can boost what you want. just turn off the limiter in the GG software and you're good. sounds good for music and gaming. yes mic sounds thin, but it's a gaming headphone, not geared towards calls or vocal recordings. Only wish there was the GG software for xbox so customisations can be done in the console and not on PC. (PS I'm a pro Mix and mastering engineer) these headphones are really great for the price.

    • @DatGoodSir
      @DatGoodSir  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you use them and like them that's awesome. I believe many people would enjoy them. To my ears they did not sound flat. The steel series EQ is a nice start but not quite the ideal solution. I prefer to use Equalizer APO because it's not limited to only 10 bands. These as I stated aren't that bad however they are nowhere near "the best" as they are pinned out to be by other reviewers. I personally use the Audio Technica G1WL if I want something wireless.

  • @RifetOkic
    @RifetOkic 5 месяцев назад

    The vast majority of gamers and people are clueless about sound, more audiofools then files for sure.
    I’m completely done with gaming headsets, i hoped the features would make a difference, mostly the virtual surround.
    Funny enough most people and reviewers think it’s actual surround sound, while it doesn’t even work in a test video. It’s all left and right and playing with doppler effect and timing.
    For PC, i will never ditch the Audio Technica ath-m50x, the legend and workhorse of headphones.
    Altough i have a great ASMR mic, Blue Yeti. I nowadays prefer a shitty mic lol. A good mic is only necessary for serious recording, for gaming, a nostalgic crappy mic is MUCH better : D
    The only headset i was FORCED to get is for the PS5, but these are actually good: INZONE Buds.
    Sadly headphones on consoles get even worse :/
    The spatial audio and surround sound is often for PC only (JBL Quantum, INZONE, etc).
    And the volume is too soft….
    Kids have no idea about good sound, which is a good thing, now they satisfied with a single headset stuffed with features. And yes they are great and very handy, and as you said, their not terrible or nothing.
    But any reviewer that’s actually experienced could confirm these things are not on par with stuff like the Audio Technica’s

      For now the INZONE’s will do : ) little earbuds have their unique advantages 🤠
