New freight agent here, I find your videos to be great feedback on inside scoops of the running lanes. Quick question, what are some tips to get past the gatekeeper and also land the call to the correct shipping prospect whether it be the Traffic Manager or procurement Manager?
@@Freight360 would I be saying for instance, “ Good day this is X from XYZ, how are you doing today? ( After relate most recent accomplishments for shipper and ask) please connect me through to your shipping or traffic Manager?
@@FSN88 the opposite. That will immediately give away that you're a sales rep. Think about when you call a shipper or receiver bc of a driver issue on site. The urgency in your voice when you ask to speak to the shipping manager. That's the tone of voice. The trick is to sound just like you do when resolving issues as you do making the cold call. You're reaching the same person in both situations. It's just that when we call as a sales rep, we typically sound like a sales rep. Make sense?
you can provide warehousing services in the same way you handle the shipping. Prospect a warehouse and work with them to create a margin for your services. Sometimes it's a one time "finder's fee" and others it can be ongoing. We'll do another video on this topic.
Hello, I hope that all is well. I am a new subscriber and new freight broker. Thank you so much for this episode! I have been cold calling for 4 months and have not landed a customer. I want to specialize in heavy haul/mobile home freight but have not seen any of these loads on the load board that I use. (So, I don't know what the rates are to give more accurate quotes.) Do you plan on doing any episodes on this niche and do you also advise that I go after some dry van/reefer loads first to get some experience of the load movement process? Thank you.
We would recommend prospecting a few different commodities at any time. This way you have some diversification within your customers. Just about everything that ships, ships seasonally.
They vary in time with each shipper. Can be anywhere from the same day to over a year. It really depends on how much they need the additional capacity.
I got my authority 110 days ago. Still haven’t got a customer yet but not going to give up.

using your tone of voice. Just sounding like you expect to be transferred is the most effective way to get them to transfer you.

Around the 27min mark…How did you set up warehousing for your local customer? Would be interested in a breakdown of that story.

A shipper sends our broker info to corporate for approval. How long does it usually take to get approved ? The shipper is valued at 100 million
