  • We take a look under the hood of this old and dirty WRX to give it some much needed attention. I install a new Compressive Smart Flow Radiator Shroud as well as their new Diamond Cover. These will give my 2015 Subaru WRX some much needed aesthetic appeal, but they also provide the function of diverting cold air into my intake.
    Next up I install some ‪@GrimmSpeed‬ dress up caps in my engine bay to get rid of the yellow plastic fluid caps that come from the factory. Last up I add a ‪@SubiSpeed‬ battery tie down and some OLM carbon fiber fender covers.
    Let me know what you think of all these new engine bay mods in the comment section below. Make sure to subscribe for new videos every week!
    You can buy all of these parts I installed on the SubiSpeed website: www.subispeed.com

    Digging that shroud but that 💥 snap💥 hurt my heart. I swear I felt that.

      No problem. I’m trying to document every step of this build. Hopefully it inspires someone else’s vision!

    The red SubieSpeed battery tie down looks great. I would get a blue one later. Red is fine for now. Subies forever. Oh yeahhhh 😀👍

      Awesome, I will leave it on for now. It’s definitely growing on me!

    A cool DIY project could be paint matching the battery tie down to the shroud and pulley cover! I actually just purchased a set of grimspeed caps today too lol

      Yeah I thought about paint matching the battery tie down! Maybe I will eventually. I also think I need more CF 😍

    I have a K&N drop in filter and it definitely helps pull in more air. You'll hear more intake sounds with it 👍

    • @FosterJohnsonMedia
      @FosterJohnsonMedia  Год назад +1

      Seems like a great upgrade especially if you need to replace your filter anyways!

      @@FosterJohnsonMedia oh for sure. For $50 it's the easiest improvement you can make. Before I put in my K&N filter I was getting around 19-23 mpg. Now I can get high 20s and sometimes 30s if the weather is right. I've even gotten 40 mpg a couple times on mid 60 degree weather with no inclines or declines for 30 miles straight.

    I'm digging that CF look + white.

      Thanks. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the white but now that I see it installed I’m a big fan. I’d like to add a couple more carbon bits down the road!

      @@FosterJohnsonMedia I think you would have had better luck with those bolts you snapped if you had used a combo wrench or at very least a standard socket to break the torque on them first. Using the deep well socket puts a lot of sideways axial load on the bolt. Also penetrating oil never hurts

    Foster, I'm still baffled about $60 caps and battery bars. As nice as they are, the only time I see these dress up parts is when the hood is open; so they are hidden from view 99.4% of the time. At least my dealer tech/mechanic will be impressed (maybe). 🏁

      Arguably modifying your WRX at all is a waste of money. But all the small things are what sets your car apart from people who don’t care as much and is part of the fun of being a car enthusiast!

    I have a STI. Just wondering if is safe to clean the engine bay with powerwash? You have to protect the battery or the alternator? I'm scare to clean my engine bay. Can someone help me. Thank you!

    • @FosterJohnsonMedia
      @FosterJohnsonMedia  Год назад +2

      Technically you aren’t supposed to blast the alternator/ fuse box with high pressure water, you should cover them up with a plastic bag or something before you power wash your bay. Or you can do what I did and just try and avoid those spots. You should be fine just be careful!

    The engine bay is looking good foster, nice stuff! I've always been afraid to spray down the engine bay, is it safe to do? I usually clean it with some chemical guys nonsense and a rag.

    • @FosterJohnsonMedia

      Yeah go for it, you aren’t going to hurt anything just try and avoid the fuse box
