It is. I used to teach puppeteering classes and attend competitions for years. The year we won first place was with a 15 minute production I did lead for, toward the end I got so weak I had to drop the arm rods just to support my arm and the weight of the puppet. No matter how long you practice or how experienced you are it never prepares you for the pain of the performance, nowadays there are devices to assist with the weight and move the weight to the shoulders/ribs of the actor. Just like everyone else, I also forget I'm watching a puppet and I just start accepting it as normal to see a purple felt puppet with metal rods glued to his hands telling me a story about buying a bookshelf off of the internet. The movement is very well mastered and the energy as well as the ability to engage with the audience is damn near perfect.
I love how Randy can turn a topic that could be explained in a minute into 20 minutes and still have it be hilarious and fascinating the whole way through.

I saw this live in 2016/2017, and when he dropped the "I made it up" line, the instant response from someone in the audience was a guy's very angry and very frustrated, "Aw, FUCK YOU."
And without missing a beat, Randy responded: "Oh shit, Morgan's back."

Randy's puppeteer has some amazing puppet skills. After seeing only about 10 seconds of this video, Randy seems to have more fluid and humanistic motions then any of the Muppets. That is amazing
Time Cop I’ve never seen such articulated body language. This is masterful.
Time Cop he really does. His puppeteer makes him look so human
It’s just a normal expressive comedian, what puppet
Ryan Carter I thought it was a dude in a suit
Not to mention they made him surprisingly expressive for a puppet with no eyelids, no briw and extremely limited mouth movements.
Who else is jealous that the puppet shows more emotion in 20 minutes than have in 19 years

Is it weird that whenever I picture this story I imagine a puppet driving to and collecting a bookshelf...?
Then you know it's an amazing puppeteer behind randy!
Yeah imagining all of this happening with the actual Randy puppet with full sized human Morgan.
Not the only one
I’d be weird if you didn’t imagine it that way
I picture it like I was in his point of view I think... Feels like dreams do really

Oh man... The arm power it must take to do a 20 segment of just talking. That's some impressive puppeteering.
This is only one segment in the show. It goes for well over an hour.
@@Double-R-Nothing it's not so bad depending on the controls; if you have one of the ones with an ergonomic clamp thingy (kinda like those sticks with the clamps at the end you use to pick up trash on the floor) it's not that bad but yeah if the guy is just using his hand in the head itself than it's gonna hurt.
I wish those were around when I was involved.
If you practice something, you get good at it. Yeah.
What's even more impressive is that the head/mouth/body is controlled by one hand and both hands by the other at the same time and it's always so well executed!
being an incredibly good puppeteer is hard.... being a magnetic and hilarious standup comic is hard... being BOTH AT ONCE must be exhausting lol!! 💜
