Hey, guys! I’ve been a viewer of your videos for some time. You guys are always funny and thoughtful in your reactions, and I’m so glad you’re doing Better Call Saul. This show is honestly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and in some ways it outshines Breaking Bad. BCS was, hands down, the greatest ongoing viewing experience I’ve ever had (even better than Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones), and I’m fortunate to have seen almost every episode when they first aired. I’m really looking forward to seeing you two react to this fantastic series!
I live in Abq next door to Saul's Omaha apt building-- you can see my balcony sticking out from the left edge of the screen at about 2:20 (of the ep)!! It's a dark n stormy night, and a snow plow goes by (Simone's image blocks it). Our buildings are owned by the same company, and usually, the dumpster is outside apt 17 (Saul's apt). The girl who lived there was set up in a hotel. I didn't live there that first year, but the manager met Vince Gilligan. I gather the location director liked the pointy details of the building. I would be there to watch some filming for S5. I met Bob Odenkirk! I'll give details when we get there.
Ignacio feels like he was in Breaking Bad because Michael Mando is that good of an actor that within 3 episodes he had such a presence that it's crazy when you realize he was only in this show.
Where in the world is George from that he thinks THAT sky is CGI? As someone who grew up in the Southwest United States, there is absolutely nothing fake looking about that sky. I mean even if you live in that region, the desert sky can look very surreal but it's not fake.
The shot George mentioned absolutely had something going on. Probably a comp to match with other shots. They're not saying the sky can't look like that. Just that it didn't in that shot
What makes this show great is how it tells the back story of every BB character. Most of the "muscle" characters in BB were 1 dimensional - almost robotic. But in BCS, you learn how they get this way. You are in for a lot of surprises, from old characters you already know to a host of great new ones! Enjoy the ride!!!
I'm glad you guys mentioned about how efficient the show is in establishing relationships without resorting to "Hello cousin!" or something like that, because the showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould explicitly stated they didn't want any mention of Chuck being Jimmy's brother in the 1st episode and would slowly show it over time instead
I don't know if the actor playing Tuco (Raymond Cruz) didn't like playing a bad person, but I heard his wife was not originally happy with him taking this role. But when the checks came in, I bet she was O.K. with it.... lol. P.S. directors of Breaking Bad have keep it no secret of their "love" for the movie Scarface. Walt and Walt jr. are seen even watching the movie. Tuco's granny in BCS played Scarface's mother. Don Eladio played the character Manny in Scarface, and even the actor that played Hector was in Scarface.
Amongst this shows greatest traits, I'm glad they gave Mike the backstory he deserves, my first watch he kept me going through the buildup/downtime of the lawyers storyline.
Loving the reaction technique you've employed here (multiple episodes, longer upload, but less time on each individual episode; pretty unique). Definitely working for me so far. Also, you two are clearly trackin' w/ the show and are "getting it." Also, BCS is the greatest show ever! Liked & subscribed :)
Theres always confusion about the check: If Jimmy cashes the check, HHM can say they compensated Chuck and the matter is settled. This means if there are any medical bills, if hes ousted from Partnership, if he wants to file a suit in 5-10 years, HHM can point to that check and say "That was his compensation." It was made out to Jimmy to compensate him. But in the eyes of the law, it could be seen as Jimmy is Chuck's caretaker, and therefore it was still Chuck's severance. Jimmy isnt "money grubbing." He and Chuck are broke ATM. 26k wont last very long. Jimmy is playing the long game for the sake of his brother.
On the other hand, it is possible that the company genuinely cares about Chuck, wants him to have money and expects him to go back to work in the future.
Jimmy is never actually acting in Chuck’s interest. He keeps Chuck in his current state in order to prop up his own sense of loyalty and self-worth instead up helping him. He makes the choice to sacrifice Chuck for his own emotions every day.
That’s not how the law would see it at all. There’s no severance in a partnership, just a buyout and it’s strictly under the agreement. They were paying him his monthly draw from partnership income, and his acceptance would show he didn’t want out.
The scene where Jimmy negotiates with Tuco is amazing. Asking for forgiveness doesn't help Tuco. But Jimmy tells Tuco, "Your one of kind gangster, but at the same time you're a fair person" is makes Tuco willing to negotiations. After that, Tuco said they should be punished, and Jimmy quickly admitted they are guilty and find out the least amount of punishment However, Jimmy's metaphor was misinterpreted by Tuco and reached a crisis point, but he could receive a light sentence for cartel-style executions He is the best lawyer of all time.
What I also love about the negotiation scene is that it wasn't a negotiation until Jimmy turned it into one. Tuco and crew had all the power and could have just killed them, but Jimmy managed to turn it around make it seem like Tuco had something to gain from releasing them.
love this style you are doing now with those series, i prefer this because i dont want to start watching reactions where they do 1 reaction per epsiode per week. this is awsome.

This show is PERFECT. Episode 6 was the one that convinced me i was starting one of the Best shows ever. By the end i was in tears. Really glad You guys are watching this Masterpiece.
The show Jimmy watches for his research on "how to win the trust of elders" is Matlock, starring Andy Griffith, which was famous as a favorite viewing choice of old people in the US. In an episode of THE SIMPSONS, Grandpa declaims "I'm an old man and I hate everything but Matlock!"
I'm adding this comment right after you asked what year this takes place, so I haven't finished the video yet to see if it's answered but this takes place in 2002. They actually show this twice in the first episode. The video of the kids with the corpse shows a date of 2001 and the check for his services which he presents to the camera clearly shows a date of 2002.
57:13 To Chuck and Company, Integrity in reputation for lawyers is of paramount importance. Ethical image affects success in trials. Your reputation effects your clients.
It really bugs me when people dismiss a prequel because they know a character is never in danger of dying. People said the same about Andor and that turned out to be great. Knowing someone doesn't die doesn't make it less interesting. There's still great drama to be had in the details of someone's life.
He did this throughout BB too. “Well Walt can’t die in this confrontation because I know there are more seasons of this show”. I cannot comprehend people who watch stuff with that mindset.
@@benrobo1134 which certainly throws a monkey wrench in the argument some people have that it's better to watch a series when it's complete than to watch it when it originally airs.
I always knew George would love this show because of how much he enjoys competent people doing things competently. I also love the juxtaposition of Walt and Jimmy. Both start in a similar situation. They're desperate for money, but too prideful to take money that is flat out offered to them because of where it is coming from. Both turn to crime instead. But where Walt is an egomaniac who thinks he's more competent than he is, Jimmy doesn't care about his dignity and knows exactly where his strengths lie. I won't get too deep into Jimmy's character as so to avoid spoilers, but I just love that Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are similar stories, but each has a main character with a drastically different fatal flaw, changing how events play out.
Also speaking at the end about Chuck's condition. One of the hardest thing to understand about something being psychological, even if it is not real the person can mentally make it real to them. So Chuck does experience pain, he isn't pretending. Since pain is simply sending signals to our brain its not that hard to understand our brain not working properly even if we should know better. Its one of the best character flaws as Jimmy says Chuck is brilliant person but still clearly has his flaws. On opposite end Jimmy isn't usually appreciated because he is full of flaws but is brilliant in his own way that is hard to see. Its a great contrast.
Better Call Saul is probably my favorite spin-off series ever. The way that it crafts its own, compelling identity as a story while simultaneously slowly devolving into something we already recognize from BB is just masterful. Also, as others have stated, Rhea Seehorn is great in this, easily my favorite character in the series.
Jimmy saw on the back of the Kettlemans van that there was a tent decal with their stick figure family decals. That's why he knew to walk into the woods behind their house.
15:35 "Knowing that Saul is going to be ok doesn't change anything." Correct - the point of this show is, at a surface level, finding out what happens to Jimmy/Saul. But even more importantly, it's about all the people around him. Chuck, Kim, Howard, all important people in Jimmy's life, and none of them are even mentioned in Breaking Bad. What happened to them? Where did they go? Nearly every secondary character in BCS has a stench of doom hanging over them, and resolving THAT is the main purpose of this show.
1:00:06 The police need "exigent circumstances" to forcibly enter property without a warrant. The officers apparently believed Chuck was in need of emergency care. It wasn't just the broken breakers that made them to come to that conclusion. He was also running around outside wrapped in a space blanket, stealing a newspaper, placing money under a rock, refusing to open his door and making nonsensical statements. While most of these things are legal and not much of a concern on their own, together they reasonably suggest he was in a state of psychosis and posed an immediate danger to himself.
Not much I can say because of spoilers and such, but I can say this: Rhea Seehorn is a freaking amazing actress. The job she does on this show as Kim is great. She absolutely crushes it. Deserved so many more awards than she got.

God I love this show and Bob Odenkirk became one of my all time favorite actors because of this show. Alongside the rest of the cast being too amazing.
I’m beyond happy you guys are entertained from season one. So many people I know give up on this show just before it becomes truly great.
LEST GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I already know that both of you are going to appreciate this show, it is best show of all time for me.
I only found your channel like a week and a half before and I'm hooked. Keep up the good work!
Also, I'm hyped to see your reactions to this series. I personally love it even more than Breaking Bad!
Yo have a lot of catching up to do. These two are good.
33:28 I’m so confused .. I thought Simone knew she made a pun with Nailed it LMAOOOO the fact that she didn’t catch it and George made the joke instead is so in character for you two
This just made my day at least 84% better, thanks
Love from MTL
Finally my favorite reactors post my favorite show! I imagine at the time you see this comment you are already fairly ahead but still, hope you guys enjoy the ride!
gonna be starting season 3 in a few weeks. loving it!
@@CineBingeReact Hope you've a good moderator, since this community loves to spoil just a forewarning. It's great that you're ahead though, helps to combat it somewhat. :)
Hey guys I know these are alot of effort to record and edit, probably don't do as well views wise as the movies generally either, so thanks I really enjoy them.
"He's not wrong, but it just makes him sound so jealous"
Reminiscent of the Breaking Bad scene, when Walter tells Jesse (about the 'attempted robbery on mike') that it's a set up, and that 'It's all about me!'
I never fail to laugh at the fake money scene. It reminds me of that scene from The Brothers Karamazov.
This show is sooo good and well written and especially how it's filmed.
Michael Mando, my favorite Quebecois actor
Nice! I didn't realise you were gonna post bcs so soon, sweet treat! :)
An example of a copywrite color is JPCoke Red. It is the red used to make the Coca Cola red logo. There are actual recipes used to make these colors using percentages of various pantone colors. The JP stands for Joe Parrot who developed the recipe. I worked for him in Tennessee
Michael McKean who plays Jimmy's brother Chuck, with the leccy problem, also happens to be the lead singer and guitarist in the band Spinal tap.
"And why not?"
He also played Mr. Green in the Clue movie.
I would LOVE for there to be a series about Mike back in his good cop days, even if we never see the day he starts breaking bad. I'd just think it'd be great because he's so damn good at what he does.
This is great, it's been a while since watching Saul a bit of memory lane thanks...
I've been waiting for this.
I love Better Call Saul.
Michael Mando's work in BCS (He plays Nacho) It's my all time T.V. performance. So underrated.
"You got a mouth on you"
😌 "Thank you"
The date on the video in the court room in the first episode said October 2001.
Favourite reactors reacting to my favourite tv show… can’t get more of a win then that
My most anticipated reaction
The start of a new wonderful Journey.
Ya know, i’m something of a Lawyer Myself
Agree with George - cucumber water is nasty. As is pretty much cucumber anything. Cucumbers are basically hard crunchy water, but worse.
THANKS George for the 5 episode edit style.
@@benrobo1134see the thing about that kind of thought process is there's an easy rebuttal of "you just can't enjoy stakes on a rewatch then?"
I love this format for TV shows! Awesome
1:09:20 The music in the nursing home scene is from The Third Man soundtrack. There's more Third Man references in future episodes.
Sooooo stoked for the next episode
Oh my God I was just looking for reactions to this show :D best show ❤❤
Also speaking at the end about Chuck's condition.
I didn't know, back when the show started, about how much I'd grow to love Nacho and Kim as characters. They were some great additions.
Simone's sharp! I've never seen anyone else guess the scams before they're revealed.
Jimmy saw on the back of the Kettlemans van that there was a tent decal with their stick figure family decals. That's why he knew to walk into the woods behind their house.
I'm hooked love your reactions
cannot express my excitement for this show, easily the best TV i have personally watched
Tuco slowly coming out the door is the best reveal
Here and a few other reactors are finally getting introduced to Kim Wexler. Can't wait.
15:35 "Knowing that Saul is going to be ok doesn't change anything."
Correct - the point of this show is, at a surface level, finding out what happens to Jimmy/Saul.
