His dark intricate and intellectual American gothic style has both influenced and spanned decades.
...................... . 🦇 ............................
His influence on me and my work cannot be overstated. What a titan in his field.
5:30 To the left is Olney grave. Olney was a character in HPL's The Strange High House in the Mist.
True.
@@johno30197 I guess HPL visited the family plot and got the name from the nearby grave.
I love Jessica's gown! It's sooo BEAUTIFUL!!
The Grimms always find the most interesting, and sometimes obscure, places to visit. These are places most of us would never be able to visit, so thanks for enlarging our view of the sometimes hidden world. Peace be with you.
Imagine having such an impact you inspire an entire new horror genre, philosophy and religion.
I own The Complete Cthulhu Mythos tales and it is priced.. HP Lovecraft is my favorite horror writer ever. Thank you for taking us there.. looking forward for more in this regard.
I never heard of HP Lovecraft. But I'm going to look him up. I would love to read some of his stuff. This is another well done video. So sweet how you both go to pay your respects to a man who touched your lives
He’s the definition of starving artist, it’s very ironic that he would’ve made a fortune now, he was penniless and obscure when he died
Never heard of HP Lovecraft? wow
Better late then never. H.P Lovecraft Is an absolute legend that has influenced horror and science fiction to this day
He's basically the father (or grandfather) of modern horror, creating the mythos that has inspired such classic horror films as The Alien, The Thing, and to some extent movies like The Evil Dead series.
I am so jealous of your journey!!! Read any Lovecraft since your comment?
I live right down the street, gorgeous cemetery. Ambrose Burnside (“sideburns” origin) is also buried there. He was a very high up Civil War general who reported directly to Abraham Lincoln.
What most people don't realize is much of what Lovecraft wrote is actually truth and not fiction.
It's fascinating how he knew all of these things way back then.
Almost like he was from another planet..I'm happy that Stuart Gordon put alot of his stories up on the big screen and they remain some of my favorite movies.. Nice job guys!🤘😎
Spot on.
Some have called him a prophet. The whole "mentally ill" perspective was very misunderstood back then.
Can one of y'all point me in the right direction of what you mean by the truth of his stories? A youtbe or article maybe. Im in the dark.
prove it
In truth about fear of the unknown?
"that is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons, even dreams may die..."
have been watching the videos alot lately, i live so close to here so it was nice to see
I just delivered the first issue of my comic book to his grave. I posted my video of it and I thought you might like to know that you were both on my wife and my mind today when we brought Nosfero's first adventure to "the gentleman from Angell St." Incidentally, our first apartment after we got married was on Angell St. Thanks for all the inspiring videos!
Been watching about two months now, thanks, love it, I started reading Lovecraft at the age of 13 in 1969 down in New Orleans, loved them too!
i feel peace and fresh when
i go to the graveyard.....
Very Good video guys. I used to live in Warwick R.I from 1972 thru 1987. Hope to see the Return of Up All Night soon. Much Love.
I have been binge watching you lovely folks.. and I am sooo addicted..!
Micheal when you wash your printed T-Shirts turn them inside out they stop them from fading or ruined
Started watching you guys about a week ago. Glad I stumbled upon this fantastic gem. I live in Oregon not far from Astoria where the Goonies was filmed. We love going there. Loved LOVED the Silence of The Lambs house. You guys do “everything fascinating” videos. I’m hooked! Jessica is absolutely adorable. She’s a keeper. 🙃 Love your enthusiasm for these places. It’s endearing. Isn’t it astonishing to stand next to someone as great as H.P Lovecraft? I’m jealous. 😁
Video quality amazing 📲💻
The fact that his grave is obscure and hidden, is perfect, as all fans of his work will appreciate.
I spent 5 days in Swan point sleeping tripping up until his 1ooth birthday. Clive barker and Jill were there.
I'm related to Whipple Phillips and I've always lived here in Providence.
next time you're here I could tell you where all Lovecraft's favorite places are.
I'm also related to several alleged witches, ghost and vampire's,in Rhode Island.
also, try North Burial in Providence if you like the older graves.
I always loved his short story, "Pickman's Model", which was later adopted for an episode of Night Gallery. He had a great way of creeping you out.
I'm from Rhode Island and on the corner of the streets where he last lived before he passed away has a memorial plaque for him. He passed away at the Jane Brown building in Rhode Island Hospital.
Splendid. 💙🧜♀️🌊
The banner looks like it's in Russian Cyrillic. The word at the end "братвы" means lads or chaps. Makes sense as his wife, Sonia Greene, had been born in the Russian Empire. Would have loved to have seen the entire banner.
Really apreciate seeing this, thank you.
Me to.
Wonderful segment
Have a happy Thanksgiving & a wonderful Christmas ☃️🎄 & Happy New year
This really sucks man im from rhodeisland im 15 min away from this cemetary i would of loved to met you guys huge fan of your channel !!!

It's a great place just to walk and think. Providence is my home town. Born and raised
Love the videos from London uk 🇬🇧
This is your “Alas poor Yorick.”.
necronomicon
I lived in Providence for 10 years. I didn't know where he was until I attended his birthday celebration hosted by my friend Thomas Brodbent. Hard not to see the crowd gathering to read Lovecraft near his grave! My favorite cematary ever!
Great 👍 video 💘 love you guys
Love the thumb nail on this awsome
The bottle of Kraken is freaking hilarious considering Lovecraft was a complete teetotaler and greatly supported Prohibition.
I had never been above the Mason Dixon line but for birthday trip one year my husband took me on a New England tour. We went here & saw his grave. What a beautiful cemetery.
🌾lt probably takes a lot of people, to wear that grass out......
Possibly the highest compliment an individual can make, after so, so many years departed.
I absolutely love all of your videos. You are on the top 3 of my reasons to go to youtube. I'd love to meet you guys some day. Love from Sweden 🤘
Love you guys ❤️
Amazing. Hope to visit one day!
I believe American Heritage magazine did an article about Lovecraft years ago. It was titled "The Man Who Can Scare Stephen King."
Will have to look that up. Thank you for the heads up.
@@grimmlifecollective You're welcome. I'm sure you can read it online. I discovered your channel whilst you two were having an adventure with Tangella of Creature Features, and I'm really enjoying your work.
Loved his stories. 🥰🎃
I believe I love. Then earth. Then others. Then myself
Hi Michael and Jessica :) I've heard you mention H.P. Lovecraft more than once, Michael, so this had to be a real special find for you :) Jessica I wish I could wear the outfits you wear :) That white over black flowing gown was awesome :) Happy Halloween :)

Another awesome episode with my 2 favorite ghouls love you both thanks for the amazing videos and awesome locations, and happy Halloween lol
Recommendation for the H.P. Lovecraft mangas by Gou Tanabe. Beautiful and scary at the same time. Give it a try, if you don't know. It's worth it.
i first came across h.p lovecraft in the mid to late 80's first it was first edition deities and demi gods with the Michael moorcock meliborne mythos and h.p lovecraft cthulhu mythos in that book and watched the reanimator movie about the same time and started to read books collections of his short stories in about 1988 and started to get into buying the Chaosium call of cthulhu horror RPG game sourcebooks and etc a large collection and miniature's which all them are in a gun case and be a keeper aka game master for the game for a friend of mine and groups here and their throughout the 90 till early 2000's and have a horror clix cthulhu statue for the horror clix game. and seen most of the 60's through the 90's cthulhu h.p lovecraft inspired movies. and some new ones in the 2000's. so i became i fan ever since the 80's of h.p lovecraft.
H.P. Lovecraft is probably the only one I haven’t read. Which, Anne Rice is the first one I got into back within High School at the time. Now that I’m older, I can understand his work now.
I've been watching your videos with keen interest. Thanks for what you do.
I love the new music
Oh hey I went there once.
you guys should start a scary podcast kinda like scared to death
Cried. Wow how precious. May the mermaids carry him over us all.
I'm so excited that you went to Swan Point. It is my favorite cemetery to visit
@grimmlifecollective Thanks for reminding me about the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society! I’d always intended to become a member back in my college days but it got away from me for one reason or another. No longer! Now I’m just waiting for my membership materials to arrive!
The HPLHS HQ is in Glendale and open to the public. It might be cool for Grimm Life to drop in for a video when you guys are back closer to home. Cheers!
PS: Drop a link to the HPLHS in your video description. RUclips won’t let me post one here.
Awesome Cemetery. So much beauty!! Happy Halloween!💀🖤🎃
H.H2U.
I would like to go there with my best friend who’s a huge fan!
I love your Grimm tales and this peaceful cemetery
Swan Point is one of my favorite places in and around Providence; absolutely beautiful grounds with a ton of amazing monuments. And you were dead on about Lovecraft's grave; it can be incredibly tough to find even if you know to look out for the Phillips monument. I've only managed to find it once; I'm glad I took some photos when I did. Also, did you guys get a chance to walk through some of the huge columbaria at Swan Point?
Providence has a weird relationship with Lovecraft. All of the weirdos love him, and want to see him recognized around the city, but the city itself seems almost ashamed of him, and it's a huge uphill battle to get any sort of official monument or recognition.
I hope you guys get to come back this way soon and spend more time in the area. I strongly recommend Mount Auburn Cemetery just outside of Boston next time you're in New England.
Cool 👻
H.P Lovecraft father of modern horror..🤌
Another amazing video...I have to ask again lol if possible to know what camera do u use to record these videos?
The bare patch where people stand..
A Kraken good video guys
It's super easy to find
i am a big fan of lovecraft
Never heard of him but interesting.
I think about two decades ago, some of his bones were grave robbed by cultists
Did you get a chance to check out the rest of Swan Point? There are some gorgeous parts of it with some amazing sculptures and crypts.
You guys have to come to NY state! Rochester has Mount Hope cemetery with Frederick Douglas and Susan B Anthony. Lakeview cemetery has Rod Serling. Buffalo has Forest Lawn with Rick James!
Metallica started me off down the path of H.P. Lovecraft. The man was way ahead of his time.
The phrase on the black ribbon is written in Russian.
But unfortunately it does not 100% refer to H.P.L.
Two words that can be written are ЛЮБОДЕЕВУ ОТ БРАТВЫ.
The first word is quite simplified Russian language translation of H.P. surname.
Two other words can be translated as “from mates”.
I am looking forward to new videos next year 2022
Spooky Spooky 🦑
That's so awesome, I really enjoyed the video, I'm very happy that you found his grave stone. Fantastic job guys and I can't wait to see more. 😊 😊
You are awesome
Omg..Text on the black ribbon in Russian language.
No ghosts in here just a video in a cemetary.
I had a similar experience finding it as you, and this was in spite of looking up a map of the cemetery ahead of time. We had the GPS coordinates and everything, but we went toward the end of winter, and New England had been hit by five major nor'easters that season, the fourth and worst of which was about a week before we got there. There was caution tape all around the cemetery, often blocking off roads entirely. If you looked up you discovered the barriers were there to keep folks from being crushed by the giant broken treetops that were now held precariously in the branches overhead. We had barely gotten into Swan Point before we had to get out of the car and go on foot from there.
Actually, it didn't take terribly long to reach Lovecraft's grave, and we spent some time there looking through a similar assortment of trinkets as you found. (There were some octopus toys, the insert from a PC game that had a Lovecraftian influence, a calligraphy pen that looked like it might have been from HPL's era, etc.) We even ran across a young couple who knew of Lovecraft but hadn't read him. I couldn't help but give them some history to share since they were locals.
But after lingering for a while and then exploring the periphery, guess what? I'd lost my sense of direction. We ended up wandering all over the place for at least 45 minutes. I enjoyed sight-seeing, but now it was getting late. In desperation, I went back to HPL's grave (because at least I knew where that was now) and we worked our way backwards to the car from there, passing lots more grave sites and up-turned trees along the way. It was quite an adventure. Of course, if everything was about the destination, we would all just race to a cemetery and stay there. Thanks for sharing your journeys.
Wow👍🏻🎃
Wonder if his dreams were his reality ? Believe he was destitute when he passed!
That’s somewhat true, some of stories were based off of dreams he had, both as a child and an adult. The Night-Gaunts a species in the Dreamlands were based off of a reoccurring nightmare he had as a kid and Nyarlathotep his most used and favorite Ultimate God was based off of a nightmare he had about that said god spreading his influence and ending the world
Thanks about this video, really.Lovecraft is one of my favorite authors but i live in Greece so i may not visit his grave ever. You are a great channel!
And mine.
Never heard of HP Lovecraft
He was the man behind Cthulhu
Very good way to pay respect to a historic hero. Mind you, H.P. was not regarded as such while he was alive. Only by a very select group of co-authors and friends. Beautiful well kept cemetery, certainly in autumn with some fallen leaves all around.
Hi
I just realized who you sound like, your voice matches Adam The Woo.
"I am providence' it’s a quote from one of his letters. However the gravestone was only erected in 1977 by a group of his fans, so the choice of quote is theirs rather than any desire by Lovecraft to make the assertion.
HEY, MICHAEL & JESSICA YOU
TWO NUTTY FREAKY WEIRDOS
All in good meaning of course
Jessica looks stunning as usual and you look handsome as usual well maybe next time you will have more time to looking around and and do more filming location's take care stay safe and will see you on the next adventure Thanks again
There must be tight security in that cemetery at night. That dry patch in front of his grave makes it look as though people have already tried to dig up Lovecraft's bones..
Which is probably why there is a story that he isn't even there, but at a secret, unmarked location because crazy people want his remains for spell components....
