      These codes apply to all of France. My parents taught me this from a young age, and in general, they are more or less unconsciously followed by a large part of the European population. These rules apply to at least Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany (with some nuances, of course).

    Some of these seem to be almost universal but a lot I’ve never heard of. There are just so many things to think about. It makes it very uncomfortable for someone not raised in an environment where the etiquette was taught over time.
