Hey y’all, WOW I have baby brain fog due to lack of sleep. I just realized that I never actually stated in the video the total cost, all I did was give the price for the shell and then the price for the finishes. Very sorry! Feel free to download the full expense report below for the breakdown. But if we want the fast number it is at the bottom of this comment. Again, I am VERY sorry!! Bettertogetherlife.Com/report SHELL $12,342 + ADD ONS $6,350 + Finishes $18,369.34 = $38,447.94
Really appreciate you guys sharing your journey! We are just starting to build and are a family of 6 with one kid almost 18, looking to add on a tiny house next to ours, thank you for the inspiration to fail forward and grow on!
Very cool video. Not quite clear why you would need both vapor barrier when you already have cell closed cell foam sprayed. But know its different requirements in different states.
Great video. We spray foamed and with cost comparison of what we spent with no experience to estimates we've seen...we wouldve saved ourselves the hassle and had it done by a professional.
My idea is using hemp or cork for insulation and then fovering walls with real wood not rhat plastic crap that overlaps. You also didnt say anything about heating the place. I guess you only need ac where you live.
Is there anything like your builder united portable buildings, near Wyoming? That’s the exact type of builder we’d like but I can’t find one in Wyoming
Hi Jeff! Did you check your email? Please do send me an email because we just changed to a new system so it’s possible there are bugs. So it would be very helpful if you could email me so I can trouble shoot your issue. bettertogetherlife@gmail.com Thanks!
Gotcha. Super sorry. I mentioned the total cost for the shell, and then total cost for the finishes. So SHELL + FINISHES = ~$38,000 I can’t believe I didn’t catch that. Very sorry, I have baby brain from not sleeping.
I want to let you know that prices on land have been going up but still cheaper to get undeveloped land, my father and I got 5.48 acres back in 2012 not cleared off but they had started to clear some so there was enough cleared to put my mobile home and it was $1,500 to put water meter, $7,000 for septic and free except $250 for electric poke and about $250 for the wire to run from mobile home to pole but they don't advertise small acreage because the agent doesn't really make much off this so they do not advertise but just go to a real estate agent and ask them in person of course they want to know your credit etc because it is all about money unfortunately but I hope this helps someone.
It all depends what you pick. I want one cheapest possible, but good storm protected, etc . They say wood trwated by Amish ones is better. Idk. I don't want wood. It says storm wind snow, etc proof & rust. Idk of that. I rather metal maybe idk, but that rists so idk. I want to be able to fit all myself plus i don't have that kind of money. I want solar. A portable rolling in wheels ac so not electric, but independent from the grid. I want a inexpensive piece of land. 3 footablall Fields size. I don't need more. Idk of plumbing water. I'd collect rain maybe idk. Almost more then a real house. I want for living. Not an office. Also have one cheap for office too later on. One for plants for food. I want a shower, dushwasher, & fridge, & stand up freezer.idy you get credit for door. I rather have big wide double door, use a lock on it. Idk also, like yeah ots nice for double door for fite, but i don't plan on that & God protects me. It looks weird on mist seem googling pics, but maybe i should consider that.
@@BetterTogetherLife Many jurisdictions have requirements like 6 inch minimum wall thickness for r value, roof loads, mounted on permanent foundation, etc. I was looking into doing this, and it appears you can not convert these into a home or an office in most states. They don't meet the minimum codes or engineering standards.
You blew your budget on the spray foam, radiant barrier AND moisture barrier, completly unessary since 2 inches of foam is a moisture barrier. Could of just done rigid board polyiso which is the same thing as spray foam just premade and saved yourself the sprayfoam cost and labor
You don’t have the benefit of spray foam. You are arguing over apples vs oranges. You saved money. And I have a superior insulation product. Neither is bad. Every single crack and crevices has been completely sealed up. It’s called a “perfect seal”. You’re home is going to breath.
Hey there Tex. I agree with Mike. Can you give me more details on what you mean by "waste of money"? I for one have made well over this amount of money just by the productivity we have gained from having a dedicated work space. Not to even count the JOY that we can't put a price on for having friends and family come and have their own space to stay for a weekend. IN FACT, we just had Kelly's mom come and stay in the studio for over 2 weeks to help us out after our 5th baby was born. AND THEN..... if life ever were to hit us hard, we could easily put this studio up on Air BNB and turn it into a residual cashflow machine. So I know inflation has hit us all hard. And these prices are now much higher than they were when I paid for most of this....... BUT, I would love to hear your opinion on why you say it is a "waste of money".
Silly me would point out as work from home types, office expenses are tax deductions? or something? depreciated over years? But then again, you are in Texas so... I don't know.

instead of spray foam, you can use rockwool. And, bonus, its pest resistant. that last one is especially beneficial in rural areas.
Our research showed that rock wool was the perfect home for critters.

You are very welcome!
Transom windows? Saves wall space but you get the benefit of natural light. Btw, how much was the main house including everything? Thanks.

What about Alabama?
Curious... you can't download a "report," just give your email - and nothing ever shows up.
