I currently have a pair of ML Vistas along with a pair of sealed subs in stereo running speaker level from the main amp. I’ve spent many hours moving and measuring the Vistas and subs in my dedicated room. Tweaked the subs crossovers and levels to the best of my ability using test tracks, my trusty radio shack meter and my ears. Great full precise sound, but my only concern is a lack of midrange dynamics. The ML’s electrostatic panels don’t move a lot of air as compared to cone speakers. But the little air they do move is moved very precisely and accurately. I think that larger electrostatic panels will move more air and dynamics will increase too. But that ML electrostatic sound is just so pure and precise it’s addictive.

A very noticeable step forward in transparency. Every meaningful detail is easily heard.
The soundstage seems to be bigger or, at least, closer, though the speakers are smaller.
The tonal balance is just right: not a hint of brightness, not a hint of darkness.
The only "but" is that, strangely, the bass seemed to be tighter, if not deeper, with the previous set-up.

Geeze, probably me, and it's only an opinion without a lot of listening time - at first I was impressed by the bass - by the end of the tracks I was distracted by the bass - - not sure the Logons would work for me long term, and it's not that I don't like bass, have to hear them more, but if they were controlled by an electronic cross over, I might be a bit tempted to back them off a notch in the lower range - - the Wilsons have outstanding bass too, but they seemed more coherent in those lower regions, the bass didn't distract from the rest of the frequency ranges.

I own own a pair of MLs, and a pair of pre-Innersound prototypes* ..so I also build them.
Bass has always been tricky to mate with an electrostatic panel. It can certainly be done, but to go there takes up more space than would ever be practical for Martin Logan.
As I'm concerned there's only three kinds of bass they slow and setups that work with electrostats and those are 1} an Open Baffle (dipole like panals) 2} A Ripole @ 200hz *⇊* (new tech) 3rd, but not least, the Transmission Line.

What source are you using for music? I’ve got a pair of 11a’s paired with a Parasound Halo A23+ then tan to a Marantz Cinema 3 acting as a preamp. Just bought an Arcam ST60 audio streamer that has DAC built in and having a heck of a time trying to hook it up to the Marantz input. I have a pair of the ML 13a's, soon I'll be buying replacement AMP's, but I'm still deciding whether I should go with Mono Blocks, or a Stereo AMP, for the 13a's?
J.A.L. Since you are always testing super Hi-End gear, is there any way that you could test the ML 13a's with the Luxman M900u AMP? Because that's one AMP I had in mind if I decide to go with a Stereo AMP.
In the event I decide to go with Mono Block AMP's, other than what your displaying on your video. What other Mono Blocks would you recommend for me to use on the 13a's?
I was thinking of PS Audio BHK's Tube Mono Block AMP's, but I'm not sure on how the 13a's would sound with Tube AMP's? Or maybe just go with Parasound Halo JC 1+ Mono Blocks and not worry about having to replace Tubes...

Quick shoutout to u Jay. I’ve been mulling over which new amplifier to purchase for quite awhile now. I’ve been to 4 different distributors to audition namely Pass Labs XS 300s, Dan M 400, Gryphon Mephisto and CH M1.1. However all shops r using different interconnects, power cords and speakers so I can’t really tell the intricate difference between them. I relied solely on ur videos (excluding CH) to make my final decision. The Pass arrived 3 days ago and I can’t be more happy with my purchase. Thanks Jay!

I'm a bit bias because I own the 15A's but, the Logan's sound great with your equipment. You have me wanting to upgrade my amp and digital transport now. Thanks. LOL Only thing I would say is that the Bass will come in after 100 hours of burn in and ARC. Had to run ARC twice once I heard the subs break in after the 100. Can't wait to hear you test them with the Parasound's since they were one of my considerations since purchasing the 15A's. I was also considering the Pass Labs after watching your video "My top 5 cost-no-object power Amplifiers". For now I'm sticking with my MC452. Thanks for all of your videos! Keep up the great work.

@@TheJLasher22443 that’s some serious juice, man, 🤣! How do you feel that the power benefits the panels, not the woofers? I ask because I’m running Martin Logan Aerius i’s. First, they were powered by a Carver AV405. I found them lacking in satisfying bass, so I visited Audio Advice to discuss upgrading speakers.
My advisor there asked about my amplifiers and suggested the root of the problem likely was lack of power. So, I acquired a pair of Emotiva XPA-1 Gen 2 monoblocks. The panels responded nicely, but the bass is still unsatisfactory.
I had a conversation with Martin Logan about this, and they suggested I look into their models whose bottom end is in the 30hz - 20hz range. We also discussed that I have very powerful amplifiers. Still, I would benefit most from a non-hybrid, passive woofer model like the Request, Oddessy, Ascent, Prodigy, Classic ESL 9, and Neolith because more of the amplifier’s capabilities are utilized. The 11A - 15A panel sees the most significant benefit because the woofers are powered.

    1. During ARC setup as live calibration is running move speakers around to find most flat response .

3 plugged ML power cable to audio quest power conditioner I have 1200 energy level.
4 used isoacustic giga 1 to and noticeably improved bass response and speed of bass it starts and stops much quicker seems like .

Ok, a bit confusing with the Logan’s so far. I think part of it that the songs are mostly different than the last couple of videos and just not as familiar with them. More bass, but at this point, not tight. I didn’t think too much about the songs until REO came on. That is the best you’ve had that song sound so far I believe. The other times there’s a “distance” in the sound, as if your standing very far away. This sounded much more like you were there standing in the front row, much more immediate, less echo or processed sounding with more detail avaible. I heard parts that seemed muffled or hidden in previous videos. Once the bass get adjusted I suspect things will get even better.
