How's the trigger control of each? How slow can you make the Flex go? I remember the drill at Lowe's had a janky trigger, but it also looked beat up.

The Milwaukee has a better trigger in my opinion. You can control both very well and can make them spin extremely slow if you want. The flex has a slight trigger delay sometimes though.

I was a milwaukee fanboy....not anymore. Their batteries fail early on at an alarming rate. 30 charge cycles or less.
Another issue is home depot selling old OLD batteries. Dont believe me? Go to HD and see if you can see the serial number. Middle batch of numbers 201019 means 2020 october 19th. You might find 2 year old batteries like i did and at $250 a piece for 12 amp hour batteries you will feel a liitle bit betrayed when they quit working 20-30 cycles in and Milwaukee refuses to warranty because you didn't save your cash receipts.....

Did you take it back or warrany it?
Milwaukee will fix somewhat quick if they have the parts on hand. I have their m12 multi tool that took 3 months each time it needed warranty work. I'm not overly thrilled with team red.
I sure have been having good luck with Hercules lately. I switched out my skil tools and took my hercs to work. Not one failed tool or battery yet. I have their 12v one handed sawsall. If i need a short piece of hydraulic hose i can just go over and cut off a piece off the reel instead of trying to get our 50 year old forklifts to run long enough to bring down a pallet...
Can you imagine a company that does 12 million in business every month and is still too cheap to buy forklifts that dont break down multiple times a week?
I'm sure their repair bills have to be more than a payment. At $120 an hour, 3 times a week has got to be adding up...

Flex is a new brand that hasn't been around very long? You should do more research. Dude, Flex brand predates Milwaukee by two years! Flex brand is 102 years old.
It's a very old German brand. If it's not available in the States, it doesn't make it a new brand.
There is something interesting though. Flex tools in the States are gray while in Europe they're red. No clue why the difference in color. Not sure where the gray ones are built but red ones are made in Germany. Not like Metabo where some of the tools are made in China while high end models are made in Germany. Don't know exactly which models. Common practice these days.
There's a rumor going on that the gray ones have inferior quality compared to European ones. A good example was the recent recall of the 24v batteries leaking that black goo.
Didn't hear jack shit from the European batteries. There actually might be something to it. It may just be, he says she says. Who knows.
But with that said. Flex actually invented angle grinders back in the 50s. Well, at least it's what they claim. They're most known in EU for angle grinders and polishers in automotive industry, metal industry - special tools etc and they do sell more tools here than there so it might be a ''newer brand'' there.
They target more professional users and industry rather than ''regular''
Before anyone attacks and cries. I'm a Milwaukee fan in general. Thinking of buying a new set but I'm still very divided between the two.
For a combo (impact driver + impact drill) here with double 5ah batteries Flex is around $200 cheaper with better stats (on paper) and that deal is PRETTY tempting.
Anyways, with the quality dropping in every single brand out there it's better to go with a good deal than with a ''name'' plus depending on the usage and # of tools imo.
If a person will abuse that drill/driver every single day I'd go with the Milwaukee. Just because they're making them since before Jesus so to speak.
Makita as a brand predates them all and they are good but they didn't start working on the drills since I believe very late 60s early 70s. Milwaukee takes the cake with experiences.
I truly do hope Flex comes out as mighty competitor to Milwaukee. It's better for all of us.
Regular usage in this case I believe Flex is a better deal between the two, at least here. Tools these days in the long run no matter the brand the quality is questionable.
Just like Mercedes-Benz. Used to be pure quality. Now we have a plastic poorly built 2.0l C63AMG. Instead of that V8 growl we get a farting 4cyl that runs on tacos.
Or just like another brand if anyone heard before '' Scheppach '' 20 - 30 years ago their tools and machines were seriously good. Their build was very high quality. Those old machines still run today as new. Newer ones after company got sold? Chineese cheap products branded as Scheppach. Quality dropped drastically. Their customer support is horrible. Spare parts are so expensive, it's better off just buying a new machine.
Have a great one and thanks for the test! I enjoyed it!

Aside from FLEX Power Tools, it also manufactures tools for Kobalt, Skil, Skilsaw, EGO, Devon, and others. @@SMOKEY-JAYS-DIESEL That actually made me laugh out loud. You actually managed to do a little ''research'' and straight up copy pasted an answer of something I already knew and you missed the whole point. Your reply is seriously a very poor attempt of trying to be a smartass which got so butthurt and angry like a little child because someone corrected you a little. Grow up.
Most likely you'll rage out and I'll be forced to giggle again. Just don't.
Please enlighten me where did I state that Flex made battery powered tools BEFORE Milwaukee or DeWalt or ANY other brand? I didn't even mention DeWalt, I even explained it very clearly that FLEX as a BRAND is older than Milwaukee AND for what they're most known as tools go - angle grinders, polishers, industrial tools etc. So it's not a '' new brand that hasn't been around very long'' as you stated. They made tools LONG before they were acquired by Chevron.
Same story as Milwaukee, they made tools long before they got acquired by TTI who started implementing batteries into Milwaukee lineup.
TTI is also a large scale manufacturer of tools and outdoor tools and so on JUST like Chevron. Story sounds exactly the same doesn't it huh.
Flex makes their own tools just like Milwaukee makes their own tools EVEN if they're acquired by another group.
CLEARLY they all share technology across the platform within the group. Who doesn't do that. Do you think Milwaukee has 100% Milwaukee parts? Yeah right.
It's GOOD for all of us that Flex manages to compete with a legendary giant like Milwaukee with the battery powered tools because competition will make brands even better and MAYBE force Milwaukee to drop the price a tiny bit and get their shit together since Flex is cheaper and became a darn good quality competitor. Same story Nvidia vs Radeon. They forced Nvidia to drop their prices a little bit because they went insane with the price hike while quality was dropping. Nvidia is still better just like Milwaukee is BUT Radeon managed to shake them up. I'm rooting for Flex to do just that since DeWalt is slacking a bit lately with their brusheless lineup( poor quality). We need better quality of all the tools, no matter the brand! Unless you're okay overpaying for your favorite brand just to have it die MUCH faster than 10-20 years ago even previous gens than go ahead, nobody is stoping you. 2023/2024 Milwaukee vs 2015 or older Milwaukee you CAN tell the quality dropped while it costs more. Who gives a shit if one tool is 1/4 faster if it's going to die out faster in the long run. Old tools will outlive every single new one.
On top of that it doesn't even matter how long Flex is using battery powered tools. They made tools LONG before that as I've said already. Do you think Milwaukee makes their own batteries? They don't. Their cells are 18650 INR from Samsung. Guess what. Flex also uses Samsung INR cells( 2ah and lower they use Sanyo cells) . So does Bosch and another brand I forgot which one. DeWalt uses Sanyo and Makita uses cells from Sony and so on. Sanyo - Panasonic.
But with that said there is a lot more important factors when it comes to batteries not just cells. A lot goes into engineering.. Electronics, heatsinks etc.
After all, tools are not just made from a battery. I'm pretty sure Milwaukee will still drill faster than DeWalt EVEN if using DeWalt battery with an adapter.
Now if you want to make your drills even better. Change the chuck. Rohm chucks from Germany are badass. Some DeWalt tools do have it on on originally but not all. Not sure about Milwaukee lineup. It is better than the original ones Milwaukee uses. Some brands with their high end models have it installed originally some don't.
ROHM is not the only brand you know but they're really good. You can tell the difference.
But yes. please do have a great day, open up a cold one, don't stress and don't get butthurt when someone corrects a little bit and fills in your knowledge.
There's never enough knowledge, after all sharing knowledge is a good thing. Good day sir!
