- The redesigned Tucson is here and Hyundai is ready for the competition for the competition from Honda, Mazda, Kia and especially the top selling Toyota RAV4. Under the hood is a 2.5L inline-4 that produces 190HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SEL trim is the sweet sport for value in the Tucson lineup. On the outside this SUV sits on a new chassis, has all new bodywork and wheels. On the inside the SEL trim is equipped with an actual shifter rather then buttons, analog gauges and cloth interior. Is the NEW 2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL a better SUV than a Toyota RAV4?

I picked up my 2022 Hyunday Tucson SEL AWD yesterday. It has 23 miles on it. This is an amazing, high tech, solidly built vehicle. That I got 2.24% financing for 60 months was even better. I suppose credit score of 882 helped!!!

I just got this car a couple of weeks ago. Love it my first SUV, had 2012 Lexus ES350 and thought I would have a hard time with the adjustment but I had no problem. Going from 6 cylinder to 4, don’t really notice a big difference.

I love it and I think that color is the best. You can see the shadows and lines of the bodywork very easily.
Great looking vehicle. Thank you for pointing out the low rear bumper mounted (incandescent) turn signals. I never understood this placement as being "better" & that's a Deal Breaker for me. Moving on...

My dad just bought one of these and I drove us all on a long road trip with it. Excellent vehicle, loved the lane keep assist, the cruise control that automatically slows down if a vehicle is in front and the side collision detection. The awd is great too in Minnesota snow! I'd highly recommend this to anyone. These new Hyundais are not what they used to be. I bought his old car, his 2016 sonata and I love that too. Go Hyundai! Great vehicles for the price.

I got this one a few days ago and love it! It drives beautifully light and with power. I had the 21 Tucson and there are quite some differences in driving quality and the number of safety features. The sound is also much better and there is enough space to be comfortable, even in the back.
Thanks for showing us this trim level. It's a huge difference from the limited trim. I'm not sure how I feel about this one now. Maybe with added packages it'd be a better fit. I'm looking for a panoramic sunroof though.
Those roofs leak in time from flexing of the vehicle going over railroad crossing& speed bumps & potholes ! You having a big strong part of the structure cut out of a vehicle & one of my main concern is rollover with any glass top

Just bought an SEL convienience package Tuscan and love it. Thanks for the review man. I agree it needs about 250hp.
I went from a 240 hp turbo in an acura rdx to my 185 hp santa fe and though I miss how fun the RDX was, I’m pleasantly surprised how adequate the santa fe is. 99% of the time I never feel like I’m lacking power for passing and merging. The ONLY scenario when I feel like I could use more is when I change into the fast lane and have to go from 65-85mph ASAP to keep up with the flow of traffic in that lane. The acura could do that in a couple seconds, the santa fe is more like 4-5 seconds - not a huge difference but it matters when there’s traffic approaching quick from behind

12:00 Just a note about the seats. The Higher level of the SEL Trim has leather seats which are much more comfortable and not at all "Sandpapery"
Raiti is saying that THIS is the SEL on this review....? And it has the sandpaper seating.

Just bought this in SEL trim and compared to the Kia Sorento I traded in this is faster, smoother, quieter at highway speeds...also more nimble and more fun to drive.

You know joking aside, that is a good reason to get leather. Cloth is going to hold onto all the Florida pollen and dead skin cells and what not, not as easy to clean as leather and soaks up any red Gatorade spills.

I purchased my 2022 Tucson SEL on Memorial Day. I have all the bells and whistles you could think of, including a power trunk. I absolutely love it. Lastly, my interior is slightly different than this model.
Curious what rebates you got? Right now at least where I live, 2022 tucson inventory is very low, and the most I could find was $500 off plus a $400 off recent grad offer. My girlfriend is considering one, but $900 is a far cry from the $4000 I got off my brand new (at the time) 2019 santa fe.
Car reviewers need to stop complaining about hard plastics on non-lux models.
All it does is drive up the price.

Its nice, they did a good job on it...no CVT crap, just give it another 30-40 hp. For those that don't want the Hybrid. I don't get it with these anemic power numbers in smaller crossovers. Congrats on the 500k.

This trim looks better to me. I like the smaller wheel with more tire look, and in this color in this lighting the body lines and fenders stand out more.
I have a really hard time with the back Hyundai logo and the turn signals in the back. However, the space inside is really impressive.

Yesterday, I went to test drive the Tucson and ended up leasing it. It was the SEL with the Premium package, so it has ventilated seats, leather seats, the BOSE audio system, and a power lift gate. I wanted the Limited trim, but this has everything I need for much lower. The design is even better in person. I think I’m the first person in the US to lease the new Tucson though. Hyundai didn’t have the system setup for leasing, so they had to fix that before they sent it to my dealership. It took an extra three hours, but it was worth it.
How much is your lease if I may? My mom is in the market for a crossover and dealer seems to want us to do a lease like for 300, but mom is old school and likes to keep car like for 10 years.

I bought the AWD trim package in silver with leather and panoramic sunroof, love it. My only complaint is that there is no way to open the hatch from inside the car or on the key fob. An odd omission in my opinion. The floor in the cargo area is slightly angled which makes my cargo slide forward, so I will probably buy a cargo mat to address this. I live in Canada so our trim levels are slightly different and are built in Korea. This is my first Hyundai (previous car was a Ford Edge) and so far very impressed 👍.

I had two Ford edges in titanium trims as well as an escape. (Company vehicle leases) I just bought the 2022Tucson in SEL with convenience package and so far it’s far quieter than the Edge. I drove the RAV4 and the noise level was unbearable.
@@howardsaffer607 that’s one thing I noticed when I went from my ‘10 RDX to a ‘19 santa fe. The Hyundai is sooo much quieter inside despite the acura being a “luxury” vehicle. More comfortable suspension too. Hyundai has been killing it over the past few years

The SEL Premium package is probably the best value in the whole Tuscon line. Feels like you're in a limited for around 33,000
I was looking at the 2022 SEL AWD today, those tires and wheels look MUCH bigger in real life, larger than my 96 Grand Cherokee and interior room also looks bigger
