The enlightened being who comes full circle to his friend, the Doctor. As it began, so shall it finish, at the right time, in the right place, with ones he loves. And he truly does go gentle into that good night.

      +K Turney Just had a thought: several people mention the "last of his kind" line. After billions of years of existence, legend would grow around the Face of Boe, obscuring his actual past. An old adage, and I'm paraphrasing, is that when the legend is bigger than the truth, print the legend. Thus, as legend swirls around, the universe forgets that The Face of Boe was once Captain Jack Harkness. But not us.

    That was one hell of a plot twist. I reacted like Martha and the Doctor.
    There is one thing that confuses me though. In TORCHWOOD, episode 1, Jack says "I won't get pregnant. Never doing that again." How the HELL did he even know he was pregnant? I mean, that was when he already *was* the Face of Boe, as in enourmous head in a jar.

      ***** I am, yes. But men cannot get pregnant at all. I thought Jack only could in his Face of Boe persona (don't ask me how, I've got no idea), although in hindsight, Jack *is* from the 51st century, so maybe men can get pregnant by that time. Actually seems quite plausible, considering Nine's conversation with Rose about 51st century humans in The Empty Child

    So I really didn't catch it the first time around watching, but in The Pandorica Opens when River meets with Dorium Maldovar in a nightclub he says this -
    DORIUM: A vortex manipulator, fresh off the wrist of a handsome Time Agent.
    (He opens the box and sighs.)
    DORIUM: I said off the wrist.
    I think I just figured out how Jack became the Face of Boe. Considering he is the Time Agent that Dorium is talking about, and it looks like he has been disembodied, It's safe to assume his head has been chopped off, seeing that the Headless Monks knew how to preserve the head without the body and how Dorium's head also survives in its flesh state, it's completely possible that Jack's face/head was also preserved which just grew up to become The Face of Boe.
    I feel like they're leaving clues in throwaway sentences for us to connect the Jack and Boe storyline.

    • @MrSinxist
      @MrSinxist 8 лет назад +69

      The_Howler I think you're right, I read in an Ask Moffat column in the Doctor Who Magazine recently that the original plan for `A Good Man Goes to War` was that Jack HArkness would join in and the headless monks would behead him, which led into him becoming the Face of Boe, Moffat said the only reason they couldn't do this was because John Barrowman (his actor) wasn't available.

    • @theblackdahlia88
      @theblackdahlia88 8 лет назад +23

      MrSinxist Then that solves it. We know how he becomes The Face of Boe, we also know when by the looks of it. I just want to see 13 interact with Harkness now, I think that dynamic would be great.

You have an actor like John Barrowman itching to come back, Arrow or no, I've seen the interviews, the stories, the con videos-and you don't use this INCREDIBLY talented man who's character was a fan favorite to so many? I think it was in Gridlock that a character in New New New New York said that those highway gases once enlarged a man's head after over exposure.

    That's why the face of boe asked the doctor to see him before he died so Jack could see him one more time....makes this moment kinda sad..as Jack is one of my favourites

    It's terrifying to think just how ancient The Face of Boe truly was.

    I always thought John Barrowman should have been cast as Superman in one of the movies.

    Martha Jones, probably the best looking of 10's companions

      Do you hate white people or something? Both Amy and Clara are better looking, by far.

      Andrew Thorne yet still the worst in my opinion
      one dimensional character she was doomed from the start because she came right after we lost rose and got teased Donna who had more personality than Martha in just her pinkie
