@@drhesiitation1285 try your hardest and you’ll be noticed. dont overwork yourself but dont slack. dive for the ball (go out of your way to get the ball during drills and playing) and never walk. believe it or not, the coach or coaches will call you out or dislike if you walk while doing things, including getting water. before tryouts make sure you establish good relationships with coaches and show up to any open gym that gets held beforehand.
I'm a 6'2 15 yr player and I never played on a real basketball team befo and I kno good enough but it seems no matter how many players I beat in the 1v1 or how many points and blocks I get in tryouts I never seem to make the team. Any pointers
Got cut my sixth and seventh grade year dosent matter go to ur rec center play with random teams it keeps u calm in real games because u don’t know who ur playing with or just run with ur boys coaches love the hustle but especially if ur running layup lines don’t think ur Mikey Williams and try and dunk and jelly dosent impress them go with confidence but not to much good luck
I was one of the best players at my tryouts. I was getting assist after assist and rebound after rebound. However, I am one of the slowest players there. I ran the fastest I ever have though. Sadly though, I didn't make the team.
@justparbo7351 Looking back on it, not really. I still do think I should have made the team, but the biggest mistake I made was not meeting the coach before tryouts. Everyone that made the team knew the head coach and would show up to every open gym. I'm not upset at not making the team anymore because I feel this is one of the most important lessons I learned from sports. Unfortunately I did quit basketball after that year because I fell in love with snowboarding and I do track and football during spring-fall.
I got tryouts tomorrow for jv and i've been going to the summer and fall practices and weightlifting. Been doing a great job in practice and my coach knows me well and outside of basketball. I hope things go well I'm getting nervous but I hope I make the JV team i'm in 10th grade.

If your reading this, your chances of making the tryouts are 1% higher. It might seem little, but that 1 can make a huge difference because of how many people are trying out
Because basketball isn't about skill, if coaches see you aren't as tall as others they won't pick you. It all comes down to whoever is lucky enough to get the ball passed to them or score without having anyone right on top of them. Much better sports out there.
My tryouts are today hope for the best I will change this in a couple of days after tryouts hope I make the team 👊👏🤘🤝 3 days later I’m back and I MADE the BASKETBALL TEAM yes I’m so happy I made the basketball team I’m tall so yay so happy use ur moves in tryouts I owe this to u thank u so much

King Nu here’s the thing. Are there any other kids below 6 foot on the team? I’m sure there are. So if they are on the team, there must be a reason. End of the day if you were the best ball handler or shooter or defender, he’d overlook the height and you’d be on the team. If you’re only average or slightly above average at those things AND you’re only 5’9”, that’s a problem. So what he’s saying isn’t actually that you’re too short. He’s really just saying that you don’t bring enough skills/athleticism to the table. There are guys below 6 foot who play big time basketball and many who have played in the NBA. Height isn’t a problem if you can overcome it with your skills or athleticism. So you can take his comments and use them to become a better player or you can blame him and not do anything about it.
Vision Driven Basketball there are three other guards that’s are shorter than I am and I played my game at tryouts. I’m a playmaking pass-first point guard with scoring ability as well. I’m also a senior in high school which was another reason I didn’t get picked up. I had at least 8 assists during tryouts all great high iq passes which I revolve my game around. I’m working to get better and work on my game and not let those unfair remarks get to me
King Nu good man. You’ve gotta assess what it is that you need to improve and work on those things. Really develop your strengths and find a weakness or two to also improve.
Im in the uk so tryouts aren’t anything like the us with not nearly as many kids there but I just got back from tryouts and i made the team, anybody reading who has upcoming tryouts, dont think about it to much and of course these are great tips but try not to focus on them completely, just go there and try your best, stick to what you can do, its better for you to do what your used to well, than to do more complex stuff badly, if you just do your best and stick to what you know you can do, you’ll be fine
KROMZ ASAP good. Since you know your strengths and weaknesses make sure you play accordingly. Coaches LOVE guys who can play defense. Play really great defense. Work super hard to be the best defender there. Since you know your shot isn’t great, don’t try and shoot if you know you shouldn’t. Play smart and show your best skills. As for position, it doesn’t really matter. Just do what you’re good at and avoid what you aren’t good at during tryouts.

After watching this video, it has helped me understand what I need to do in order to get a spot on the team, and I'm goanna put my all into this, so hopefully this helps me.
Thanks I’ll try to do this I’m so nervous I have tryouts for JV in a week I’m 6’1 but I’m not that fast
I made my team (as a practice player) by making one good play. I cut into an open lane and swished a shot
i’m going to 9th and these will be my first ever tryouts on the 16th
How did it go , did you make the team?
got tryouts tmrw. first tryouts ever and im pretty hyped. looking forward to put all my effort into it
Did you make the team?
@@usopp8616 put my effort, got cut tho. first day of cuts. just gonna be practicing all summer
@@gttab1 any advice i got em on monday
@@drhesiitation1285 try your hardest and you’ll be noticed. dont overwork yourself but dont slack. dive for the ball (go out of your way to get the ball during drills and playing) and never walk. believe it or not, the coach or coaches will call you out or dislike if you walk while doing things, including getting water. before tryouts make sure you establish good relationships with coaches and show up to any open gym that gets held beforehand.
@@drhesiitation1285 just try your best and if you get nervous and anxious easily learn how to maintain your anxiety so you wont choke under pressure
I started this freshman year playing basketball as a complete noob to the game I’m spending these next 5-6 months practicing for sophomore tryouts
Another tip have a good realtionship with the coach
I wish there were practices in school
i got tryouts soon as a freshman for JV
IM SO EXCITEDDDDD YEEEEEE
I was one of the best players at my tryouts. I was getting assist after assist and rebound after rebound. However, I am one of the slowest players there. I ran the fastest I ever have though. Sadly though, I didn't make the team.
Wowww thats crazy. But keep working hard
Is your school rlly competitive? What do you think u did wrong?
@justparbo7351 Looking back on it, not really. I still do think I should have made the team, but the biggest mistake I made was not meeting the coach before tryouts. Everyone that made the team knew the head coach and would show up to every open gym. I'm not upset at not making the team anymore because I feel this is one of the most important lessons I learned from sports. Unfortunately I did quit basketball after that year because I fell in love with snowboarding and I do track and football during spring-fall.
@@user-zg6do1vy5oaye good for u man have fun with what ur doing now
I got tryouts tomorrow for jv and i've been going to the summer and fall practices and weightlifting. Been doing a great job in practice and my coach knows me well and outside of basketball. I hope things go well I'm getting nervous but I hope I make the JV team i'm in 10th grade.
The high school near me has an enrollment of about 360 students for each of the 4 grades (1440 total). How many students would typically try out for the team each year of a school this size (for years that aren't affected by Covid)?
Thanks man I’m nervous for the tryouts so hopefully these tips help me get into the starting lineup team A
I have tryouts in around 2 hours, wish me luck. They are only picking 10 out of the 62 freshmen trying out.

i’m in 8th grade and i’ve never really played basketball before, over the summer ive been working 1-on-1 with a high school senior trying to get a hang of it. im sooo nervous for try outs, i want this so SO badly but i know my skills aren’t even in the same ball park as the other girls. i couldn’t care less if i’m the worst one, i just want to get on the team because i know i have potential and good work ethic, i just need the proper training. tips?
did you make it? Plsss anwser 😭
i’m 13 5’6 and have basketball tryouts against a bunch of 14-15 year olds tomorrow. I’m nervous but i’ll try my best thanks for the tips
My try outs are October 25 and 26 and I’m a shooter so I’ll be more vocal Let’s get this thing done I’m locked in ✊🏾🤟🏾

@j spi did you make the team? did your crap get better 😂
Thanks bro got tryouts tomorrow!! Getting hyped
how'd they go?
Where I live they pick the same players every year of high school so nobody try’s out
Be the one that try's out you're sure to make it
I'm battlefront going to try out for the team as a junior, but I'm grinding to be at least good enough to make the team, if and hopefully I do, I will start my grind from there 💪 💯

We have a tryout Tomorrow hopefully this will help me.I’m not the most talented, most fast, most shifty and most tall but I can shoot make hustle plays and a very good defender.I’m in the middle so hopefully this will help me make the team!!❤
I am currently on day 1 of 3 for 7th grade tryouts. I definitely take all of your tips to heart. Alongside natural ability as well, but just being a team player as well. I will try to update on if I make it or not. Wish me luck 🤞🤞
Edit: Sadly but no I didn’t make it
Kyhu work hard during the off season to make it next year
I have tryouts tomorrow and I’m not naturally athletic and can’t dunk like most of the other kids trying out but I’m going to try my best
If your reading this, your chances of making the tryouts are 1% higher. It might seem little, but that 1 can make a huge difference because of how many people are trying out
Super interesting video. I have my first tryouts tommorrow 🥶🥶
Tryouts tomorrow i hope i make it
Mr. DoDo good luck man💪🏽let me know how it goes
I have tryouts on Monday
I don’t play basketball ball cause I’ve always been scared to not make it but this year ima try my hardest at tryouts!!
I didn’t make the team and I am now crying.
I'm gonna drop a video that'll help you out in a couple days. Be ready for it.
You still got next time. And at least now you know what to expect. Next time, try your best.
Because basketball isn't about skill, if coaches see you aren't as tall as others they won't pick you. It all comes down to whoever is lucky enough to get the ball passed to them or score without having anyone right on top of them. Much better sports out there.
Flooded area3261 I was one of the shortest people
Flooded area3261 but I’m in the track team now and I’m really happy
My tryouts are today hope for the best I will change this in a couple of days after tryouts hope I make the team 👊👏🤘🤝

Lion Studio Films that’s awesome my man💪🏽💪🏽great job!
We’ll Im 5’9 and I was told by the varsity coach that I’m too short to play and that “you need height to win games”
Your coach lying like shit my varsity team has a 5’3 guy and everyone loves to have him around
Young AI hes a bumass coach I’m definitely not trash
Im in the uk so tryouts aren’t anything like the us with not nearly as many kids there but I just got back from tryouts and i made the team, anybody reading who has upcoming tryouts, dont think about it to much and of course these are great tips but try not to focus on them completely, just go there and try your best, stick to what you can do, its better for you to do what your used to well, than to do more complex stuff badly, if you just do your best and stick to what you know you can do, you’ll be fine
Thx bro
Tryout hope I make it I’m trash but I’ll try I’ll let u know if I make it ight 😬🧐
KROMZ ASAP good luck man let me know how it goes💪🏽
Vision Driven Basketball i will yeah my shooting is bad but EVRYBODY says I’m good at defense what position should I play
Vision Driven Basketball ok I will thanks wish me luck and have s great rest of ur day/night. 👌
I have tryouts today, wish me luck.
1. Pay attention and listen to coach
2. Encourage teammates and hustle.
