These tips aren't as much about basketball skills as you would think. When in tryouts there are many other things you can do to get you noticed. Of course, you want to have the skills. But even if you can do all the basketball moves, shoot, handle the ball, etc., if you don't do the little things you still will have trouble making the teams. Big facts , I played with Coach rock in high school , I didn’t get allot of playing time and didn’t have a strong basketball IQ, but I attended the work outs and got noticed by working hard and giving it my all. When I made the team I was shocked but I can honestly say it was being dependable , showing up and working hard . “You can do it!”

Very good tips for anyone whether it’s a star or a guy trying to make the team and knowing those drills and being in shape will prepare you well .
As a player on a team, my biggest piece of advice is to be confident. Do not be the person that is nervous and is scared, the coaches will see that and not think that you will benefit the team.

I once met up with an old coach of mine from highschool and he said I was so close to not making it on the team. And only got in because i was playing hard on defense harder than anyone else. It wasn't that I wasnt good in offense it was because i couldnt showcase what good at which was playing off-ball and screens since I didn't get the ball in those situations

@Kobeprodz Just try your hardest, when your doing sprints try to be the fastest or at least top 3 have eye contact with the coaches when they talk and just do whatever you can as hard as you can

I have got my representative team tryouts and I think I am skilled enough but also have the thought of playing bad because I’m too nervous of missing
Let go of fear, everyone is too worried about themselves to care about if you miss. Kobe Bryant was one of the best players who ever lived and he missed the most shots out of any NBA player because he wasn’t afraid of missing he was already thinking of the next shot. We all struggle with fear but we have to overcome it. I PRAY you make the team and we all succeed. GODBLESS bro ❤

I appreciate people like you who try to help us but sometimes its not always as moral as you think it is. When I was in 9 grade we were in basketball trials, some of the people who I thought deserved to make the team didn’t make it, you know who did? All the tall kids. There was even one kid who had the most wonkiest shot (like his hands would cross each other when he shot) yet he made it. Even the next year, the coaches kid and the other coaches younger brother made the team, I don’t know what they had to offer though? End of the story is if you don’t have a good recruiting/coaching system implemented in your school, your chance of making your team becomes an even harder variable.

I’m in good shape but my asthma doesn’t allow me to continue sprinting for long periods of time. I’m working on breathing through my nose hoping to find results soon. I have tryouts in an hour nonetheless, thanks for tips.

@@recebarhyan I made it to the team, admittedly because of my height, I’m the tallest freshman/sophomore. I’ve been getting better over these past few months before, I have a really solid outside shot now and am getting a better feel for the plays, being more confident with the ball in my hands, etc. Not a starter yet, but I’m grinding to get there.
I got cdbyl on the 13th I have know the coach’s since 4th grade I’m now in 8th and these will be my modified coach and I’m ready for tryouts

I have a question. When I go up to shoot how can I have a one motion shoot with proper form.
take a video of urself shooting and watch a yt video about shooting form and see if ur doing it right (there's also apps for it)

As a 6th grader I'm very nervous because my basketball tryouts are in 2 days and I'm very nervous I've been wanting to play basketball for a very long time and I can't even do a layup and I've been having mixed emotions whether or not I should go to the tryouts and I've been practicing ever since I got my first basketball 2 months ago on my birthday and I would say I improved but i just need to work more on my weak hand (left) and I'm afraid I will embarrasse my self but wish me luck

@@RevengeBasketball I didn't make it because I really can play very good but I guess I was so nervous because we did some layups dribbling with our left and right hand and then scrimmage I was gonna make a 2 pointer but I missed and nobody passed me the ball because they were trying to impress the coach but they don't really care about that but when I got a second chance if I wanted to play again out of everybody I said no which now I regret because I really could've showed them I had potential but I guess I can practice til 7th grade tryouts and I've learned to 1. Don't be shy or nervous 2. Have confidence (which I didn't have) and if your playing scrimmage try to play aggressive but don't ball hog and try to get the ball passed to you.When or if you do another tip for tryouts in the future I will go to 7th grade tryouts and tell you if I got in.
@@kylerhays9000 I am 14 right now, heading on to 9th grade, I didn’t make my 7th grade or 8th grade team. I started playing basketball in 7th grade and I started taking it seriously and actually training in like 8th grade. But even though I didn’t make the team, I realized that its all part of god’s plan and I just gotta stay patient and keep on working. My failure in my 8th grade tryout helped me became way better that now that I look at it, I’m glad I didn’t make the team. So just know everything is part of god’s plan so keep trying your best. And you are pretty wise for your age, so just know that basketball isn’t about making the team and stuff like that. Basketball is a teacher of life and it teaches discipline and hardwork. Keep working buddy.

Train your endurance by going on runs and try to last longer every time your go on a run or increase the distance
