@@elwinkayihura5155 keep it simple, man. Don't force it and take whatever shot the defence gives you. If you've got someone shorter on you, shoot over them, if you've got someone bigger than you, blow by them. Floaters and the short mid range in general are key for guards. Also, being able to catch and shoot at forty or forty five percent is also key to making big numbers. If you can't shoot you have no chance of making out anywhere above hs level basketball.
Yeah, that is my problem. I averaged 0.3 ppg last season. Yes, 0.3 ppg. I had no confidence and would just pass the ball. I can score, I know it. I just need to shoot and actually take quality shots and I have a new season in November and I hope I can average at least 5 ppg. I just need confidennce.

I average like 2 points and 3 assists last year and now I’m going to high school I grew my confidence and have been practicing every day and now I hope I can be dominant in high school
This was an awesome video I averaged 5 around 5pts per game in jv and barely played varsity ball but I have really good skills in my opinion it’s all just mindset. But I am going to start pg next year and I hope to average 10+ points and 5 assists and coach thinks I can and I think I can do it too. It’s funny cause I never thought I would play basketball because I was a top football player in the country I came from and was national top scorer at one point but since I moved to the USA I just played basketball cause I school doesn’t have football ⚽️ so yeah thank you for the advice!
Agreed. The unfortunate truth is PPG is how you get attention as a high school player. Even the kids at prep school got there by showing out at high school or AAU. My recommendations as a trainer are radically different from what I say as a coach.
As an incoming high schooler i avg 8 ppg this aau season on a rlly good team. I didnt even play in 6th grade and in 7th avg like 4. One of the best 15 players going to my high school out of the 110 trying out for the team. Jus wanna get better every year and eventually make varsity. Im honestly more skilled than half of the best players but i still always feel that they just perform better in game. Im a very all around player. Prolly like a Kcp on better efficiency or a scottie pippen thats better at shooting and on way less volume. Excited for things ahead. Ive been playing well recently and prolly the 3 or 4th best player on a rlly good team
That is great to hear, and sounds like you are on a really great path to success. The key in what you said is getting better every year because improvement doesn't happen in a day or a week. It happens over long stretches of time. Best of luck to you!

Sounds good, just make sure you stay aggressive even as the team gets strong. And your 3 point percentage will continue to get better with the work you put in my guy! You’ve got it in you for sure.
Me it’s 0 ppg but this is my first year playing but there’s always room for improvement this is gonna be my first basketball season and I am so excited for this season
I scored 10.5 ppg as a freshman on varsity I’m mainly a 3 point shooter/defender. Because I play in texas in the best higschool league in the best division and everyone is at least 6’0 so I couldn’t go in the paint I’ve tried to improve my speed this off-season with football which as worked
I started two years ago so for the first season I had no confidence and I only averaged like 5 points but I just stoped caring about what other people think about me and I went to 20 ppg
That is great, important to have players who make the team better in many ways. My only advice would be that if you want to play at the next level, you need to prove you can be aggressive and score the ball to some extent!
I would like to improve my points too, but as a player who only got good this year, and I am a freshman I do not know what to do while on my team, because the whole entire season last year I had 4 points, now in random games I am 90 percent of the time the leading offensive player and scorer, but Idk if I should play with that same mentality in real games
If a coach believes you're a great shooter, play to that strength and through that strength as much as possible. A good way to score more is making split-second decisions and taking advantage of defenders before they get set up. If you can shoot well off hand offs or having defenders chase you off screens, this can open up drives to the basket because defenders are in off balance recovery mode. Sprinting to your hot spots and having an offense that's set up to get you open is key. If you're a guy that can shoot at an elite level, then defenders are likely going to deny you the ball and face guard you. Off ball movement at the high-school level and stamina is important. You just need great coaches and smart teammates who recognize this. Pick up basketball is notorious for having that 1 guy who can shoot way better than anyone on the court, but end up getting face guarded after he gets hot. When guys in pick up recognize that, they won't set screens or free that player up whose been on fire all day, they will use that opportunity to start scoring themselves and lose the game. Learn how to relocate and use screens to get open in these situations.
averaged like 10 points last year but the 2 guys that were better than me are gone now. but our team now has a big 3 so ill be averaging at least like 15 points and 10 assists (my passing is goated)
Hey tucker this is a great video but I have a question. How can you work off the ball and just not sit in the corner because that is what I do and I don’t want to but it always happens.
Get better at cutting, filling into open spots. Especially if you are a good shooter you need to find the soft pockets in the defense where your teammates can find you for shots.
I average 3.3 points per game right now and I'm hoping these tips will help massively. I am a little man with a really good jumping ability but I feel I'm not that good at anything else. My shooting isn't great and I feel I am missing most of my shots. I'm not a long distance shooter I just can't for the life of me shoot long distance I really need help man. I feel I always go too hard on myself and find I'm getting annoyed a little things I do, if you have an feedback on my games I would really appreciate it. 🙏🙂🙂
I only averaged about 5-6 points my freshman season and while I made a pretty big impact due to making right plays on both ends, I was not much of a scorer. I wanted to change that so I have been working really hard on my shot/handle this summer and joined a out of school team but while I am more skilled than everyone on the team I have trouble getting the ball at my spots to be able to create( I’m not getting opportunities as a pg) what should I do to get the ball in my hands more?
i dont know if you read every comment, but i hope you read this one, i was wondering if you have any tips for guarding taller guys, cause ive been struggling with that recently
I will be honest. I had exclusive access to the scorebook for last season and I know all my stats. Number: 24 Height: 5’0 PPG: 8.9 RPG: 3.5 APG: 4.0 STL: 0.8 2 PT FG: 48% FT %: 75% 3 PT FG: 50% Total 2 pt fg: 38/79 Total FT: 9/12 Total 3 pt fg: 4/8 These stats aren’t too impressive but it was my FIRST season I also won the league. Like, we played 10 games and my team led by point guards and centers won 9/10 games 😂. Other players were great for defense. We also went 3-0 in the tournament and won it all, in my first season. My team was great
I need some advice im struggling with being a consistend dominant player in 5v5 should i increase my work ethic i hoop 2 sessions a day and lift 2x or atleast once a day
i averaged 5.1 points this year, it was really inconsistent, some games i’d have over 20 points and some games i wouldn’t even take a shot, some games i’d go like 2/15

Hmmm, an easy way is to get rebounds and immediately bring it up the floor!
I started following these and I went from 11 ppg to 21-26 ppg
Let's go!
New sub
Welcome!
i dont know if you read every comment, but i hope you read this one, i was wondering if you have any tips for guarding taller guys, cause ive been struggling with that recently
and scoring on them
I will be honest. I had exclusive access to the scorebook for last season and I know all my stats.
Number: 24
Height: 5’0
PPG: 8.9
RPG: 3.5
APG: 4.0
STL: 0.8
2 PT FG: 48%
FT %: 75%
3 PT FG: 50%
Total 2 pt fg: 38/79
Total FT: 9/12
Total 3 pt fg: 4/8
These stats aren’t too impressive but it was my FIRST season
I also won the league. Like, we played 10 games and my team led by point guards and centers won 9/10 games 😂. Other players were great for defense. We also went 3-0 in the tournament and won it all, in my first season. My team was great
First season playing basketball? Sounds like you did really well! Thank you for sharing!

Hey tucker, I need help where do I find basketball friends to play with because I can’t find anyone
Are you a part of a basketball team?

Work, work, work! You gotta get in the gym everyday if you are new to the game.
I played jv and i only averaged about 6.5 points but im moving up because most of the varsity players graduated or transferring
Sounds like a great opportunity!
first year jv bball averaged 4 points on 6 minutes
That is solid, gotta keep increasing those minutes!
I need some advice im struggling with being a consistend dominant player in 5v5 should i increase my work ethic i hoop 2 sessions a day and lift 2x or atleast once a day
i averaged 5.1 points this year, it was really inconsistent, some games i’d have over 20 points and some games i wouldn’t even take a shot, some games i’d go like 2/15
I scored 16 ppg last year any tips to get it up to 25 ppg?
Find ways to get those easy buckets!
Thanks
