I will forever remember Draco Equiste as that one forgotten card, like my boy Yusei went on a whole ass arc learning to synchro summon on the opponents turn so he could play around Mekk Lords, which were specifically designed to combat synchro monsters and its like, Yusei...you have a Fusion monster in your Extra Deck use it.
I'm not sure if I remember this correctly since its been years, but I heard somewhere that Draco Equiste was one of the countermeasures Yusei got to go against meklords before shooting star was given to him, and that the idea came from the duel he had against paradox with yugi and jaden. Him seeing jaden's fusions showed him the viability of using a mechanic that is not synchro. But when he got Shooting Star, he dropped Plan A for the new one cause Shooting Star could just blip out for a bit before getting snatched, has more versatile effects, and had more synergy with his synchro focused deck.
Actually, he specifically designed Draco equiste to face the meklords (and was revealed he did so by taking inspiration from Judai) before he could master accel Synchro. It's something himself mentions, as he realizes Synchro summoning just isn't as reliable anymore. However in the only duel that it was used, it was defeated and he obtained shooting star dragon a few episodes after which meant he didn't need the fusion monster anymore... It's kind of a shame, would have loved to see it used at least once more
Draco-Equiste takes a Dragon synchro. Unless there’s a quick play fusion speed spell, or a fusion trap card that doesn’t take the materials out of the graveyard, trying to summon Draco-Equiste is a little slow. And yes, I’m mostly talking about the anime, so I don’t want to hear from any of the IRL competitive nerds
@@TieflingKumasithat doesn’t matter in the anime. They use much worse cards on the regular. Your entire rebuttal would make more sense for the actual game not the anime
I like how Yuma wasn't entirely reliant on the Number monsters. Sure he used his ace Hope a lot, but he also used many non-number xyz monsters like Gagaga Cowboy/Samurai, Baby Tiragon, Gauntlet Shooter, and Skill Gainer. It also makes the final duel a lot more believable since we already know he can use non-numbers to their fullest potential.
His reasoning for using the non-Number Xyz Monsters in the first season was really weak though, namely that he believes it's "unfair" to use Numbers against someone who doesn't have any. It would've been in character for Yuma at the start of the show, but it's something he should've gotten over when Shark pounded Yuma into the dirt with Black Ray Lancer, and it's less excusable in the WDC because it's a tournament to decide the strongest duelist. Intentionally holding back out of a sense of "fairness" in such an environment is disrespectful and arrogant.
it is unfair though, the numbers are indistructable by any means except for battle with another number or card effects, and theres only 100 (not counting the barians and chaos) which means bringing out any number and putting it in defence makes it only weak to card effects if you dont have another number
@reimu-ic6lz >Can only be destroyed by card effects or another number. Well bob's your uncle m8. If you dont have a Number of your own, Numbers for all intents and purposes read "Cannot be destroyed by battle" and even back then we had plenty of ways to deal with such cards as Shark demonstrated in his second duel with Yuma. And if it's something like Heraldry Crest which can't be destroyed by card effects and is a Skill Drain on legs? We had ways to deal with that too even back then. It wouldn't have been easy, but it's a tournament to decide the strongest. If you can't beat it, then you deserve to go home.

Dark Sage to me still showcases some of the best foreshadowing in Yu-Gi-Oh!. At first, it seems to come out of nowhere and pretty random but then you remember: it was Yugi who gave Joey Time Wizard. Why would Yugi have Time Wizard in the first place? Because, he had a combo for it, one he didn't necessarily needed to have a competitive deck perhaps but still he didn't just put a brick in his deck. He had it, for Dark Sage.

And stupid question, to you did Yusei also run polymerisation when not in riding duel as Jack does ? For Dark Sage, it's just logic to me considering Yugi had both Dark Magician and Time Wizard before it isn't mess logic than Thousand Dragon
I swear I saw Chaos Neos and Storm Neos used more than once…maybe I don’t know GX as much as I thought or maybe they stuck out so much to me that I gaslit myself into thinking they appeared more than I thought.
They were shown a lot more than that (notably when the Anime would make a shot of Neos alongside all of its fusions, and in promo arts) but it was never summoned more than that
Vector Square Archfiend still holds the status of being the only Link Monster Playmaker gets through a skill that isn't a Code Talker or a Firewall, which i think is pretty cool. Shame it was bad even for the time.

Since Firewall wasn't on this list. So this is 0/5
God I remember One Eyed Skill Gained vividly
It would’ve been nice if you showed how they won
Enlightenment Paladin and Nirvana high Paladin
Honestly I remember these cards
You forgot odd eyes ragging dragon
Yuou forgot yuseis nitro warrior
I feel like Vector Scare Archfiend should've been used more, I'll honestly only remember it for having such weird link arrows + being one of the few non-Fiend/Dragon Archfiends
1:47 what did he stand on?
Yeah the only one I didn't know was gauntlet shooter
I remember dark sage
A big part of these summons is the theme music in the background. Yusei and Playmaker still have the best two themes, Yami being third.
Draco Equiste is random but ok for anime standards and shows than not only Jack play fusions in the 5ds anime.
And stupid question, to you did Yusei also run polymerisation when not in riding duel as Jack does ?
For Dark Sage, it's just logic to me considering Yugi had both Dark Magician and Time Wizard before it isn't mess logic than Thousand Dragon
Yeah I can definitely say I forgot most of these 😅
But they're still fun to watch nonetheless!! :)
I swear I saw Chaos Neos and Storm Neos used more than once…maybe I don’t know GX as much as I thought or maybe they stuck out so much to me that I gaslit myself into thinking they appeared more than I thought.
They were shown a lot more than that (notably when the Anime would make a shot of Neos alongside all of its fusions, and in promo arts) but it was never summoned more than that
I love lancer dragon
Rapid fire doo doo feces
This reminded me just how much I hate Sho/Syrus' Japanese voice. It makes the Japanese version unwatchable to me.
Only ones that I did not know of were Clay Guardian Vector Square Denon and Gauntlet Launcher
Surprisingly they still have dialogue for them and duel links
Vector Square Archfiend still holds the status of being the only Link Monster Playmaker gets through a skill that isn't a Code Talker or a Firewall, which i think is pretty cool.
Shame it was bad even for the time.
