There seems to be a bit more to loving defender forever's design than Yubel jealousy. I once saw a comment pointing out that flame wingman probably became Jaden's favourite because it subconsciously reminded him of Yubel; flame wingman is the fusion of a man and woman, split down the middle in colour like Yubel's heterochromic eyes, has a "misshapen" arm like Yubel's when their duel disk grows out of it and both have an effect that inflicts damage to the opponent equal to the opponent's monster attack. My buddy has been playing Yubel since it first came to the game. In fact, he still has his original Yubel cards from the set they were introduced. Needless to say, he popped off when it was announced that Yubel would be getting new support.
While the japanese Yubel is obviously a reference to Hinduism, International Yubel kinda fits Yubel as a character as it's instead a look into a very real unhealthy and toxic view of love that some people have; That being that you NEED to change to earn love. Yubel's transformation in general sorta has to do with this concept, but Yubel in the international release being completely female after their transformation means that they aren't anything like how they used to be physically, while the japanese was 50% male, so therefore there is still some of what Yubel was physically to a sort of extent. Plus Yubel's stronger transformations help exemplify this fact, as in the anime this was them trying to come closer to their goal due to their love for Jaden, which is shown by them becoming more monstrous as they are trying to achieve their sense of love to Jaden, which brings the unhealthy idea of self-change with it. Them getting stronger, their attempt at Jaden's love, is shown by them becoming more and more monstrous. And maybe in a way the Spirit of Yubel card and other stronger Yubel cards that looks like regular (as in the one that spectates Jaden) Yubel could be meaning that now that they are with Jaden forever now, they are fine with being themselves instead of needing change for Jaden's love and to show their love for him, and so, they can be strong to protect Jaden and show him love without having to change themselves in unhealthy ways. (Though she still jelly about Flame-Wingman for sure, but in a healthy and not murder-y way.) If that's what it's meant to be, then Yubel is one of the most dark and real cards and characters in all of Yu-Gi-Oh. God that's good symbolism.
I think Eternal Favorite is also supposed to be a GX counterpart to Eternal Soul, given that they both can special summon the most loyal monsters of Yugi and Judai. It also references how before Flame Wingman and Neos came around, Judai's favorite card has always been Yubel. Given how Spirit of Yubel and Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever show Yubel copying the poses of Neos and Flame Wingman, I wonder if we will get a Yubel-themed Winged Kuriboh someday.
I wonder how would Winged-Kuribo and leveled WK themed Yubel work? Like a weaker version of Yubel that can again be used to bring out the real Yubel and retrained version of Terror Incarnation/Ultimate Nightmare?
You mean with the "Add 1 of your banished cards to your hand" effect? I'm pretty sure it would, because it doesn't specify what kind of card it has to be, nor does it specify a name or a category, so I'm fairly certain that would work, but I could be wrong
Funnily enough, another GX archetype actually can stop Super Poly. When paired with an ATK position Hamon, Cerulean Skyfire is able to negate Super Poly. Since Skyfire’s effect doesn’t actually activate (it’s “used”) and it negates effects not activations, it’s able to circumvent all those “cards cannot be activated in response to this card’s activation” clauses. I found this out by accident when playing Master Duel but it’s a really handy ruling to know when playing Sacred Beasts
Bruh in duel links they have a skill called eternal bond that allows you to normal summon neos and yubel and if you normal yubel you can upgrade it to the last form and add super poly from the deck
As Hindu it is called aadi sakti and it's a from taken by God Shiva and Devi Durga and is considered to be the strongest form a person/god can take , showing all of life chakra and many other controls
Something not important, but nice to know, is that Suprem King and Yubel are most likely German. The reason why I think that is because in the flashback we first see them in a castle that looks like an old German castle. Another point is that the original card names of the first three and the Eternal Loving Guardian (Fusion Monster) have German titles. The titles are kind of weirdly spelled, and I think it's because Yubel is male and female. For an example. Yubel the Eternal Loving Guardian, the OCG card name is "Yubel - Das Ewig Liebe Wächter". The grammar is wrong because in German you change the sentence depending on the gender of the person you talking about. Male "der ewig liebende Wächter" and Female "die ewig liebende Wächterin". The same goes for the original Yubel second form and third.
So fun fact, Yubel's EP effect is that, an effect, for the longest time I always thought it was a Maintance cost sikilar to the Koa'ki Mierus but nope, on Onega dueled againat a Luck sacky Bystial Lightsworn player and he made Baguska and during the EP Yubel wasnt able to tribute a monster (I say Lucky because he milled 2 wulf off Charge and the 3rd plus a Felis off Solar Recharge)
The only time I've seen the OG spell chronicle being used was in duel links because you could banish 5 witchcrafter spells and then add them all back with witchcrafter patronus 😂
Along with the Indian religion references I would also like to add in that she may be a reference to a alchemy philosophy known as magnum opus or to be more precise a rebis! A being who is a hermaphrodite and is a mixture of masculine and feminine traits, though I could be wrong with how I explained it
Yubel isn't just based on the hinduism thing. They' re also based on the creature called 'rebis', which is a hermaphrodite and an ultimate goal of Alchemy due to it being the fusion of normally direct excluding opposites (male and female). This also fits with the ironic theme of lyman banner, where Jaiden already once had the philosophers stone and now a rebis at his side. Which is ironic because Banner was the alchemist, not him.
Can't wait for weebs to get mad about Yubel being censored in the dub Oh wait, weebs only care about things like altering lines to suit the language of a dub, something Japan does too, not removing gender or queer related content
Know what would be cool? If and when the next batch of Evil Hero support comes, it would be awesome if we could get their version of Kluger. An Evil Hero + Yubel Fusion, sort of representing a "what if" scenario. In this case, representing what if the Supreme King had won and joined with Yubel instead.
i like to think the the retrains of cards are not upgrades but they're original form dew to mass producing the og card effect would be downgraded or desapear
Sooo I yubel is 1000%(didn’t miss click) my fav ace monster from a protag and was waiting years for a retrain and said to my friends for years when it does I’ll come back to yugioh but f*ck naw I ain’t paying 200$+ for this sh*t game agian(but if you like this game then ignore this because nothing wrong with that)
I just love how, even in 4Kids' attempt to sanitize/simplify the portrayal of Yubel's gender and make their true form more overtly female with the censorship/changes you mentioned, even THEN, they still end up under the transgender umbrella, considering that even in the Dub, human Yubel was living/presenting as a male before the procedure. So, no matter what version you watch, Yubel is a trans icon and I love that for them 😌
Another cool detail about Phantom of Yubel, the weakened state of Yubel, is fittingly a level 9 monster. Which then brings out its prime form, of a level 10 monster. Nice attention to detail right there.
Yubel in duel links is actually pretty decent since with the the skill eternal bond you can almost immediately summon Yubel without tribute and then almost immediately summon Yubel the ultimate nightmare and when any Yubel card is summoned you can also summon a elemental hero neos from you deck to your hand and you can summon him without tribute and if you do you can get a miracle contact or a super polymerization from your deck to your hand
Since Yubel's gender was brought up, a little fact I've always liked is how the more masculine side of Yubel's demon form keeps the hair and eye colour of their human form, a nice design detail.
I want to add a little bit of context on Yubel's personal pronouns in Japanese, since there's a little bit of nuance there. "僕" (Boku), the pronoun Yubel uses, does not necessarily mean they were male. Yes, it is used predominantly by males, but it is not uncommon, in fiction or real life, to see women using 僕 to refer to themselves for a variety of reasons. In GX itself, Rei (Or Blair in the dub) very frequently uses 僕 as her personal pronoun, except when she's trying to flirt. This is not to say Yubel is for sure a woman, but it is to say that their gender is very purposefully kept unclear, though her female voice is the one that would continue to be used in Season 4, Duel Links and even promotional material.
Small correction the new Neos Yubel fusion is called "Elemental Hero - Neos Kluger" Kluger is german for smarter, which is a refference Neos wiseman. Furthermore to all of Yubels form and Yubel herself have German in them. Yubel is basicle the Katakana for Übel l, which basicly means evil or bad in german. Terror incarnate is "das abscheulich ritter" which is the disgusting knight and "Ultimate Nightmare" is "das extem traurig Drache" which is the extemly sad dragon.
So you know how Yubel was supposed to be a Neo-Spacian monster? I was thinking about a series of Neo-Spacian retrains for them (I’m going with LIGHT for Yubel since the other Neo-Spacian monsters have the other attributes covered, and also as a symbol of how Yubel could have been better if they had avoided the Light Of Destcuction) _Chrysalis Yubel_ (LIGHT) Level 2 Fiend/Effect (Quick Effect) You can reveal this card from your hand: Add 1 “Neo Space” from your deck or GY to your hand. In the Latin Spanish dub Yubel's voice was always female and the parts where she spoke male were replaced or omitted.

That and pain plays a big part in their characters. Yubel's masochism as a form of love (pre-Jaden saving them) and Akiza's sadism as an extension of her self-hatred (pre-Yusei saving her).
Suffering for your loved one is not love. So Yubel has a philosophy for a really bad relationship.
Can Mature Chronicle add facedown banished cards?
You mean with the "Add 1 of your banished cards to your hand" effect? I'm pretty sure it would, because it doesn't specify what kind of card it has to be, nor does it specify a name or a category, so I'm fairly certain that would work, but I could be wrong
Yubel the reason i played Karma cut in duel links
14:36 I love using this card with Witchcrafters. It synergizes so well you'd think it was intentional.
Funny how Geistgrinder Golem is the only one weaker than the original
Grinder Golem is utterly broken due to Link Monsters just existing. That's kind of tough to compete with.
Would be cool if we got a fusion monster with both Flame wingman and yubel together
Pretty cool archetype!
Me: I want branded
Mom: We have branded at home
Branded at home:
These cards seem kinda wacky with Kaijus
hey, Jaiden was ahead of the times, he had a x-guardian. Look at that.
Another effect similar to this is destiny hero Dark angel it too can negate super poly
Bruh in duel links they have a skill called eternal bond that allows you to normal summon neos and yubel and if you normal yubel you can upgrade it to the last form and add super poly from the deck
Smash or Pass?
Can you make a number 39 utopia next please
Btw in Hinduism samsara means cycle or death and rebirth , perfectly fitting for the cars ?
As Hindu it is called aadi sakti and it's a from taken by God Shiva and Devi Durga and is considered to be the strongest form a person/god can take , showing all of life chakra and many other controls
Heck yeah, i've been waiting for this! My favorite Card and Archetype.
Yesterday i opened phantom nightmar, was very lucky an got princess but the artworks are looking amazing from these cards
Pretty much every important card is just Yubel in a different form.
How long till we get the Yubel themed retrains of Chain Material and Phantom Skyblaster? lol
Srsly though, waited 15 years for this. Well spent
13:11 The Will of D…
Terror Incarnate is when it leaves the field, just a small correction as its key for some plays.
It amazes me all these years and we still have no dub of the final gx series.
So fun fact, Yubel's EP effect is that, an effect, for the longest time I always thought it was a Maintance cost sikilar to the Koa'ki Mierus but nope, on Onega dueled againat a Luck sacky Bystial Lightsworn player and he made Baguska and during the EP Yubel wasnt able to tribute a monster
(I say Lucky because he milled 2 wulf off Charge and the 3rd plus a Felis off Solar Recharge)
Lightsworn please
The only time I've seen the OG spell chronicle being used was in duel links because you could banish 5 witchcrafter spells and then add them all back with witchcrafter patronus 😂
Samsara Lotus really said I'm gonna become king of the pirates.
Along with the Indian religion references I would also like to add in that she may be a reference to a alchemy philosophy known as magnum opus or to be more precise a rebis! A being who is a hermaphrodite and is a mixture of masculine and feminine traits, though I could be wrong with how I explained it
Other commenters have brought of Rebis!
@@Ramsey276one cool glad I'm not the only one
Such a same they stopped supporting Legacy of the Duellist and haven't put bot opponents into Master Duel. Some of these look awesome
I cannot wait to run this deck. 😊
Yubel was certainly an awakening of things for certain people…
Not me of course
Yubel isn't just based on the hinduism thing.
They' re also based on the creature called 'rebis', which is a hermaphrodite and an ultimate goal of Alchemy due to it being the fusion of normally direct excluding opposites (male and female).
This also fits with the ironic theme of lyman banner, where Jaiden already once had the philosophers stone and now a rebis at his side.
Which is ironic because Banner was the alchemist, not him.
o0o
Can't wait for weebs to get mad about Yubel being censored in the dub
Oh wait, weebs only care about things like altering lines to suit the language of a dub, something Japan does too, not removing gender or queer related content
Yubel is the definition of it takes a guy to be best girl.
Ultimate Nightmare + Flashing Sword Tryce was my favorite combo back in the day.
i like to think the the retrains of cards are not upgrades but they're original form
dew to mass producing the og card effect would be downgraded or desapear
... So what you're telling me is Yubel is bi?
I heard someone was calling you on messenger while recording vid
Sooo I yubel is 1000%(didn’t miss click) my fav ace monster from a protag and was waiting years for a retrain and said to my friends for years when it does I’ll come back to yugioh but f*ck naw I ain’t paying 200$+ for this sh*t game agian(but if you like this game then ignore this because nothing wrong with that)
Yubel is an honorary Devilman character.
4:40 is it just me or is the top of the tower weirdly cut off? Like it doesn't fade into the colors of the wing but just gets cut right off.
My God that awful censorship on the OG Yubel still haunts me💀... Especially considering that Spirit and the LDF aren't censored
Judai/Jaden: Ah yes me, my boyfriend, the girl who is into me but I'm dense and the genderly mysterious demon being from my past life.
The voice acting for Yubel in the original Japanese is so cool!
My big meaty claws are only a decoration bubble bass
They/them nonbinary ussy making me and my monsters act unwise
Yubel walked so Mikanko could run. Though now Yubel can be argued to be better.
Spirit of Yubel is a level 10 monster though
Yubel in duel links is actually pretty decent since with the the skill eternal bond you can almost immediately summon Yubel without tribute and then almost immediately summon Yubel the ultimate nightmare and when any Yubel card is summoned you can also summon a elemental hero neos from you deck to your hand and you can summon him without tribute and if you do you can get a miracle contact or a super polymerization from your deck to your hand
I'm loving the love they've been giving the old archetypes, like Gate Guardians
Yubel best demon waifu
Small correction the new Neos Yubel fusion is called "Elemental Hero - Neos Kluger"
Kluger is german for smarter, which is a refference Neos wiseman.
Can their be a Morphtronic monster archetype video. Those cards were actually strong to use.
So you know how Yubel was supposed to be a Neo-Spacian monster?
I was thinking about a series of Neo-Spacian retrains for them (I’m going with LIGHT for Yubel since the other Neo-Spacian monsters have the other attributes covered, and also as a symbol of how Yubel could have been better if they had avoided the Light Of Destcuction)

Uhh, do I have to be the one to bear the bad news? Neo Spacian Glow Moss already exists.

And what does that have to do with this?
NEX versions are out for decades

OK, I SEE… Moss was already the LIGHT one…
I had honestly forgotten about it until now.
But be real, wouldn’t THESE all be much better cards anyway?

You mean the 2 cards NEX can summon, Neo Dolphin and Twink Moss?
Yubel archetype is finally here!
So is Yubel the first actual Odd-Eyes monster with those eyes
I love yubel! She's my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh villain and I liked her so much that Yubel was the very first Yu-Gi-Oh card that I had ever ordered online. The first time I was ever hyped about Yu-Gi-Oh months before it happened who's winning the announced this support.
Okay yubel. Good card and honestly a cool deck now
You know there is a cultured comic that shows how...invested the two characters are mostly Jaden's past self...
Ohhh??????
Battle Mania is a old card that forces your opponent to attack with all monsters (so there was some cards that help Yubel).
And Harden Arm Dragon makes it were you don't ever need to tribute monsters to keep Yubel on the field.
The timing is perfect. I have been playing this deck for a few days now and it's so much fun, especially when combined with Unchained cards for a pure masochist deck
9:22 Jajajaja.
Reminds me of a meme when Yuri activates super polymerization in Arc-V.
Yuri: "Super Polymerization Active."
Edo Phoenix: "Jaden didn't sacrifice all of his friends for this!"
P.D. In the Latin Spanish dub Yubel's voice was always female and the parts where she spoke male were replaced or omitted.
I’ve always liked the loyalty so to speak of yubel. There any possible way to do the Flamvel/neo flamvel/ancient flamvel archetype?
I love that Neos and Yubel have a card that has “Spirit Of” in its name.
At the start of the final duel Yubel feels like Akiza from 5D's why? Well: Yubel plays some flowers and rose cards just like Akiza, they both have secret powers, and they both have crushes on the main protagonists.
That and pain plays a big part in their characters. Yubel's masochism as a form of love (pre-Jaden saving them) and Akiza's sadism as an extension of her self-hatred (pre-Yusei saving her). That and their aces center around destroying themselves: Yubel to get stronger and Black Rose taking everyone else with it
Two sides of the same coin really. Different but similar
Yubel, the precursor of "Psychos with fixations using Plant monsters in their decks"
Poor akiza she didnt get the super poly memo
Just in time to cook dinner.
