Toon Winged Dragon of Ra has never been created in the real-life card game, but come on, Konami, make it happen
One card that was used during the Pegasus vs. Kaiba Duel in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime, which was, according to Pegasus, "a new addition to Toon World," the Shine Palace. Its effect in the anime was it grants a LIGHT attribute monster 500 ATK, but in the real OCG/TCG it was 700 ATK. While it was not a "Toon" card, it had the look of a "Toon World" with a shiny white castle instead of its usual shadow-like castle look.
I have entire notebooks full of hypothetical Toon versions of cards, the idea that Toon World can turn ANY monster into a Toon and we see so few of them just set my little creative brain alight.
you forgot to mention, as a fun little trivia detail, the Toon barrel dragon design, its inspired by the censorship of the original barrel dragon by 4kids, making him to be seen more childish that way as a toy gun rather than toonified gun barrels! nice video as always!

Do hope this archetype gets more support in the future. There's plenty of ideas out there - Protection support to make them like depicted in the anime/manga - Retrains of cards like Dark Rabbit, Parrot Dragon Toon Alligator and Bickuribox to fit into it - Create Toon Dragon Jar and Toon Dragon Piper like in the manga. Support that turns all cards in Toons

The original artwork we see in the English dub for Mimicat I like the best That green foggy colored background and the blue gradient on the cat was really appealing to me. It’s featured in Duelist of the Roses as well
I always wanted to see Toon version of Dark rabbit. I think it was pretty iconic as it was based on the funny bunny cartoon Pegasus used to watch all the time, which inspired him to make toon world itself.
Same, it's always been one of my favorite archetypes because of the cartoon sinisterness to all of it. Shame it'll never be given the full love it deserves.
Actually, as a translator, I can tell you that Manga Ryu Ran is a pretty nice attempt to recreate Pegasus’ broken Japanese. That’s a quirk of the character one should always strive to replicate in the localization process. Sure, one should first have a look at the entire arc and see if that strategy was consistently applied throughout. In the first version of the Italian manga, there was no trace of this quirk, but the card was still called Manga Ryu Ran; that’s where I would speak of a localization error. Of course, let’s not forget the localization team is just a small part of the entire production chain, and it’s far from the most important one. The biggest problem, they kept this translation for the card game. They could have looked for a different one.
Simply put, tcg localization sucks. Dragma to dogmatika : look the dogmatika is cult that workship a dragon child aluber and their goal is to be ascended into a dragon. How you can connect dogmatika to dragons? Yes you can't dragma? 3:20 Regarding whether or not you could attack directly in early Yu-Gi-Oh, I do remember one line in the duel between Yugi and Mai (I think it's just before Yugi summons the Mystical Elf) he says something along the lines of "If I don't play a monster, Mai's dragon is free to attack my life points directly! I'll never survive against that!". I've only ever seen that series dubbed, so I'm not sure what the sub says.
The sun just has the ruling where you can’t attack you opponent directly, but you also have to have at least one monster on your field when your turn comes up, otherwise you lose seemingly

“Toon table of Content” was actually a main deck Sky Striker card in the TOS and TOSS format. The reason was that it can be used to fill the graveyard with 3 spells, and you can also add “Toon Cyber Dragon”, which can be used to contact fusion the Cyberdragon fusions. This is especially relevant in Master Rule 4, which makes it so that players can only special summon extra deck monsters in Extra monster zone or to the zone a Link monster points to. The meta at the time was basically lock both EMZ so the opponent cannot play Extra deck at all.
Before that, it was in early Judgment Book builds as well. It was three extra searches for Spellbook of Judgment. That and an extra three levels, made summoning High Priestess way easier if that’s what you needed Toon Table is objectively the best search card ever made. If only it could search better things 😢
A good retrain i think for toon alligator would be giving it the effect if its used to summon a toon monster it can count as two tributes, thus getting the 7 and 8 star toons out easier.
I mean, if we wanna make it really good, have it be able to Special itself from the hand if you control Toon World and no non-Toon monsters and then, the turn it's Summoned (Normal or Special), you can Normal Summon 1 Toon monster in addition to your one Normal Summon and also have it count as two tributes for the Summon of a Level 7 or higher Toon monster (not just Normal Summon, since Blue Eyes Toon and Manga Ryu Ran count as Special Summons).
You can definitely tell which finalist Pagasis wanted to duel… he had toon versions of half of Yugi's best cards (at that point) while others like Kaiba only had one.
Might as well mention this, but there's another Equip Spell that while not part of the Toon Archetype, it has Toon World in it's art, and that is: Shine Palace (or Bright Castle if you played Stairway to the Destined Duel)
I hope we get more Toon cards in the futures for Yugioh series as this and the Malefic archetype both have endless possibilities to make such cool cards based off of later duelists. Also fits that Paradox was trying to off Pegasus so it would be cool to see both represented in a future box Konami! Just imagine cards like: Toon Junk Warrior Toon Cyber Angel Dakini Toon Destiny Hero Plasma Toon Black Rose Dragon Toon Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon Toon VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon Number 32: Toon Shark Drake The possibilities are endless.
Fun fact: The original first japanese printing of Toon World was a bit different. It said pay 1000 lp to play it, then pay an extra 500 lp each standby phase, and if Toon World would be destroyed, you regain the lp used to pay for it.
The toon structure deck was the very first one I ever bought. I was just a wee baby in elementary school and was winning against my friends left and right because of how dirty they used to be. I hope they start supporting the toons again 😢
For a deck with as much search power as Toons have, you'd think it'd be a lot more consistent than it is. But the reliance on Toon World and all the good monsters being high level makes it a chore to really get anything going. Another issue it faces is a lack of card advantage generation at will. So many decks these days have easy +1s and more. Toons have to work for it. If I were Konami, I'd start with solving these issues first.
I wish the earlier Toon Monsters weren't terrible monsters. Not only could you not summon them if Toon World isn't on the field, but they could not attack the turn they're summon. The only effect that I didn't mind was needing to pay 500 Life Points in order for the Toon Monsters to attack, as they can attack your opponent directly, provided that they don't have a Toon Monster themselves. I mean, if you have a 3000ATK monster that can attack your opponent's Life Points directly, while they have other monsters on the field, of course that monster's gonna need a maintenance cost. And needing paying 500 Life Points to inflict 3000 to your opponent seems like a fair deal. Although, having the requirement to pay 500 Life Points to attack an opponent's monster is nonsensical, especially since they can't on the turn they're summoned. And yes, it is true that most, if not all, the Toon Monsters couldn't attack the turn they're summoned, but big difference between the newer Toon Monsters and the older ones is that you could summon the newer Toon Monsters at any time, even if you don't have Toon World on the field. Plus, many of them had additional effects that can benefit them in battle.
Maybe a new Toon continuous spell, call it Toon Errata or Toon Addendum, that basically removes the effects limiting attacking the turn they are summoned, the LP cost to attack, and maybe something like them banishing any non-Toon that battles them in addition to battle protection (and as an added bonus, have Errata/Addendum act as a pseudo-Union card and block anything that would normally destroy or remove a face-up Toon World on your field by popping itself instead).
the fusion monster bikuribox, the monster illuminationist-faceless mage, and its retrain are supposed to be toon-like monsters as well, and i think flying elephant and dream clown are also meant to be toon-like monsters
Something to add: Toon Page-Flip showcases another card that has a White Castle popping out from Toon World. That is a reference to an equip card of that has that artwork and I think it supports LIGHT monsters or Fairy type monsters, something like that. It would’ve been cool if Konami retrained that card to another brand new Toon Field Spell.
And for the love of all that's holy not just reprints of the early cards and cards we've already seen. In order for the archetype to get better it needs more new support.
It's weird, because their S/T lineup is stacked. Multiple free searchers, free Special Summons, one of the most powerful Field Spells. Yet their monster lineup is so bad... they're simply useless

Im 28 played yugi dule masters (not magic) uno and go fish growing up fell off right before links dropped I loved the synchro era I ran x sabers, psychics, cloudian, koa ki Meru, and my main fire deck I love learning the lore behind the cards this archetype series is awesome I thank you tgs and hope doing this makes you happy and I hope you know are appreciated
The history behind this. My dad is a doctor and he used to work late nights at the hospital. Some nights he would take me with him so we could spend time together. One of those times for my birthday I think he got two of those starter decks, yugi and pegasus. Fast forward 20 years later here I am still interested in yugioh, but mostly playing the digital version
Since the monster universe is a thing in yugioh it's safe to assume that the toon monster world exists as well. It would be really cool to get a yugioh movie in that kind of setting. You could have a plot where kid pegasus is transported there and has to use toon monsters to save the day. It would be a neat way to get new toon monsters into the game.

I would love to see more toonified monsters. Aside from toon signer dragons and odd eyes i think maybe having toon dinos, toon god cards, maybe some popular old strong decks get one like toon spyral, sky striker, etc. It'd be neat
I loved the Toon world versions. They made me want Pegasus' deck just for them. Blue Eyes Toon Dragon and Toon Summoned Skull were some of my favourites though I hadn't seen alot of the others shown here before.
And Bickuribox, it was a cartoonish monster that never got "Toon-ified" as you put it and Pegasus used it to land the finishing blow on Kaiba by pulling a Scythe out of its mouth and slashing Saggi to pieces while cackling like a maniac
I love Toon Monsters. And I absolutely love that they were the point monsters of the "boss of the first story arc". Personally, I would love it if they introduced some new "Neo-Toon" monsters in the future.
My 1st toys-r-us tournament win (my TRU had a 6 yugioh boxes prize and had one when a new set came out) was with a deck i called “Movie-Toons”. I used the movie Pyramid of Light cards and the toon cards, it was broken as I could go from no field to 2 3000 atk and a 2500 atk and set up toon monsters And the amount of complaints about using scapegoats to tribute for toons (there tributes for a special summon not a tribute summon)
Essentially Pegasus' Toon monsters were Disney's Mickey Mouse + WB's Loony Tunes mixed into 1, so as LK put it: Japanese Animation vs American Animation. As such: regular monsters can't touch them
Ever since discovering the updated look Pegasus was given in the GameBoy game Reshef of Destruction, I really wish that he had come back in the anime at some point with it to style on a main henchman of that season's villain and toonifying a previously unbeatable ace monster. Maybe he could even have added Kuriboh into his deck after learning just how good it truly could be from Yugi. Y'know, a character arc.
Fun Fact : In the game of Eternal Duelist Soul, Pegasus used Toons to do some of his fighting, but if you used Toons too and Pegasus went to attack, you’d soft-lock the game because he wasn’t programmed to attack monsters, only directly…. Also the game added a tax on Toon World where you’d lose 500 life points each turn until Toon World was destroyed and you’d get the ‘taxed’ life points back.
Here’s some ideas for what cards they should toon-ify if they ever decide to give the Toons Extra Deck Monsters: 1) Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon 2) Master of Dragon Soldier 3) Dark Paladin 4) Cyber End Dragon 5) Decode Talker 6) Borreload Dragon 7) Goki the Great Ogre (the Gore would probably hate that as much as Kaiba did) I don’t think they should go beyond that because then we would also need to get Toon Tuners (that’s a tongue twist) if they did synchros and both Toon Xyz monsters and Toon Pendulums sound broken!
I always found it quite jarring how Pegasus's whole deck theme changed drastically when he took Yugi to the Shadow Realm. I assume he changed decks mid duel which I guess he is allowed to do given he's the creator of the tournament. Then again this was the same man who used his millennium eye to look at the cards in his opponents hand so all rules and logic went out the window I suppose XD
If Toons get a second wave of new support, I hope we get some or all of these: - New continuous spells (and maybe also traps) that count as Toon World, in a similar vein to how there are cards like that for Umi. Maybe have them based on different pages of Toon World? - More Toon versions of cards, especially lower level monsters (Toon Giant Rex and a Toon version of one of Weevil's bugs come to mind, or maybe proper Toon Versions of Rabbit and Alligator could work too) and maybe some extra deck monsters (Ultimate Toon Dragon anyone?) - Retrains of older Toon monsters that, at minimum, remove them being destroyed if Toon World is destroyed. As for further effects... -Summoned Skull: Could give it a once per turn destroy a monster with equal to less than its atk, as a riff on Makiu the Magical Mist. -Blue-Eyes: Perhaps make it send monsters it battles to the graveyard at the end of the damage step, as a riff on Ultimate Creature of Destruction (seeing as Toon Kimgdom covers a lot of that card's other effects) -Mermaid: Given the flavor text of the original being "A mermaid archer that hides in a protective shell, waiting for the right moment to strike.", maybe give it a debilitating effect upon dealing battle damage to an opponent? -Ryu-Ran: Definitely the hardest, as even the flavor text is fairly unhelpful. Maybe it negates the effects and/or lowers attack of monsters that attack it because it "looks harmless"?
We need actual toon retrains of Dark Rabbit, Toon Alligator, Parrot Dragon, and Bikuri Box. All Toons without being toons. Manga Ryu-Ran should get an errata that always treats it as a toon monster, like Summoned Skull with the Archfiend one
Another interesting fact about table of contents is that in its pages it states "God" which implies that pegasus potentialy had a toon version for the god cards
Pegasus' deck has a lot of similarities with Sora Perse's from Arc-V. They both have childish cards as well as nightmarish ones. A duel between them would have been interesting!
Speaking of Pegasus having the only Toon World in existence, I remember seeing a Kaiba starter deck at Walmart as a kid and (being like 6 at the time) I took the show serious when it said only a few Blue Eyes White Dragon cards existed in the world and I BEGGED mom to get it for me because of that. She said no lol
Kaiba was a full on antagonist in the beginning of the manga. Theres even an arc where Kaiba designed a Saw like theme park designed around killing Yugi and his friends
They could make a retrain of manga ryu ran, toon alligator, dark rabbit, and parrot dragon to better align with the archetype while also updating the archetype to the latest meta. More negation, more early game tribute fodder for your bigger toons, ect.
Not related to this but I thought I might bring this up if you’re interested. You spoke in the Yusei vs Jack duel analysis vid about the lack of extra deck variety. I thought that If you want to analyse a duel with extra deck variety, I recommend doing “Was Ai about to beat Playmaker?”. Why? Because Playmaker used exactly 15 extra deck monsters in that duel and could he have finished the duel quicker or lost if he played certain link monsters at a different point in the duel sooner or later. Plus, it’s one of my favourite Vrains and ceremonial duels. What do you think?

the saddest thing is, Toon Harpie Lady doesnt count as Harpie Lady while on the field or in the graveyard, so she doesnt get harpie support... but at least she still count as a harpie card or harpie monsters...

I play solely toon cards in Yu-Gi-Oh master duel an i love it. Bookmark is absolutely essential to summoning toon kingdom. Red eyes and dark magician always feed monsters or traps to the field. Nibiru with shadow toon card also is a very good otk
I really wish Toon to become a viable deck because as it is right now, it's very unstable. Such a fun deck to play with nonetheless and Pegasus ofc being the first main villain to use such uncanny monsters is pretty cool.
I think one interesting way to get more Toon support is for there to be toonified cards of the monsters of other participants in Duelist Kingdom. Cards from Weevil, Rex, Mako, and Bonz would probably be the most ideal candidates (Para, Dox, and Panik wouldn't make sense, since they were hired by Pegasus).
Toon-ification was a fun effect in the show limited by its screen time. The only way to really do it justice would be to specify archetypal effects as separate from unique effects on cards, and most players already think in those terms, anyway. It is a hindsight solution, but since most if not all early toon monsters required toon world on the field to exist, the archetype could have been worded a bit differently. "toon world: pay 1000 life points. cards with 'toon' in their name are always treated as a special summon (and does not take up your normal summon), but require the same amount of tributes. any card with 'toon' in its name gains the following effect(s): this monster can attack directly unless the opponent controls a toon monster." From there, each toon card only needs 2 effects: "this card cannot be summoned unless 'toon world' is on the field. If 'toon world' leaves the field, destroy this card." (this archetypal effect description would then be printed on any toon world retrains, along with the modified effects like costs or protection. it would not need to be printed on monsters since they cannot make it to the field without some sort of cheat or the central card with all the archetypal effects already on the field.) With the archetype fully errata-ed, it now opens the way to adding card effects that steal opponent's monsters and treat them as toons, all without the need to print unique toon monsters for every archetype in the game. There could be a card that steals a monster, negates all its card effects except those applied by its new toon naming (with minimal cost), alongside ones that steal the card without negating its effects (for a higher cost like equip spells taking up a board space from more reactive backrow), as well as addresses the overcrowded text blocks that plagued toon dark magician girl.
One Piece’s Luffy basically becomes a toon monster himself with his Gear 5, or Omni Gear; whatever you want to call it. I’m going to call him “Manga Ruffy” so Manga Ryo-Ran doesn’t get lonely
My theory is after Kaiba lost his Shadow Game to Pegasus, he quietly picked up Mokuba, got in their Blue Eyes White Dragon Jet, quietly without speaking a single word flew all the way back to Kaiba Corp, and then Kaiba went to office, took a deep breathe, Sat at his desk and said to himself "I am changing the entire rule format of this game." You notice how after Battle City ended no one went back to the format of how Duel Monsters was played before? Took World was nothing like how it was portrayed during the peak of Duelist Kingdom which leads me to believe that after Pegasus lost Kaiba demanded his original copy of Toon World be destroyed and in exchange he'd have a more "balanced" version of Toon World as seen in the Dartz Arc and later GX when Pegasus duels Crowler and Bonaparte. Toon World is only perceived as broken until it suddenly dawn on Yugi "Oh wait...it's a field spell. I get rid of the Field Spell and Toon World stops being a problem." Yeah there were a lot of questionably stupid rules in duelist Kingdom most of which from Joey not knowing the first fucking clue how to play this game

Fun fact, while no official card exists and this match was only for show at tournaments, Pegasus technically Toonifed the Wing Dragon of Ra. If you look up the Pegasus vs Marik scripted match they did for a tournament in 2015, that is how Pegasus won and it is hilarious to think Pegasus who was so afraid of the power of the Egyptian God cards could technically counter them by turning them into Toons in a duel. I recommend looking it up for anyone who hasn't seen it, along with some of the other scripted duels. Love the Joey vs Kaiba one mainly because of Kaiba's instant disgust when Joey with pure luck managed to have Psychic Shockwave to summon Jinzo the moment Kaiba played Crush Card Virus.
If toon world ever succeeded in anything it’s inspiring absolute hatred to anyone fighting against it in the anime I mean seriously of course kaiba hated the fact Pegasus made a mockery of blue eyes but to hear yugi say the same thing for his stuff feels enlightening to say the least
Im surprised you didn't mention Toon World's ORIGINAL effect in the OCG before it's release in in the English TCG. Originally it had an upkeep cost of 500LP per standby phase, and when it was destroyed it would give you back half the LP you had spent on its upkeep.

One card that was used during the Pegasus vs. Kaiba Duel in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime, which was, according to Pegasus, "a new addition to Toon World," the Shine Palace. Its effect in the anime was it grants a LIGHT attribute monster 500 ATK, but in the real OCG/TCG it was 700 ATK. While it was not a "Toon" card, it had the look of a "Toon World" with a shiny white castle instead of its usual shadow-like castle look.
I have entire notebooks full of hypothetical Toon versions of cards, the idea that Toon World can turn ANY monster into a Toon and we see so few of them just set my little creative brain alight.
you forgot to mention, as a fun little trivia detail, the Toon barrel dragon design, its inspired by the censorship of the original barrel dragon by 4kids, making him to be seen more childish that way as a toy gun rather than toonified gun barrels!

I always wanted to see Toon version of Dark rabbit. I think it was pretty iconic as it was based on the funny bunny cartoon Pegasus used to watch all the time, which inspired him to make toon world itself.
Haven't played in forever but the Toon archetype has always been a favorite of mine. Would love to see Toon variants of monsters continue to be made

Actually, as a translator, I can tell you that Manga Ryu Ran is a pretty nice attempt to recreate Pegasus’ broken Japanese. That’s a quirk of the character one should always strive to replicate in the localization process. Sure, one should first have a look at the entire arc and see if that strategy was consistently applied throughout. In the first version of the Italian manga, there was no trace of this quirk, but the card was still called Manga Ryu Ran; that’s where I would speak of a localization error. Of course, let’s not forget the localization team is just a small part of the entire production chain, and it’s far from the most important one. The biggest problem, they kept this translation for the card game. They could have looked for a different one.
Simply put, tcg localization sucks.

Regarding whether or not you could attack directly in early Yu-Gi-Oh, I do remember one line in the duel between Yugi and Mai (I think it's just before Yugi summons the Mystical Elf) he says something along the lines of "If I don't play a monster, Mai's dragon is free to attack my life points directly! I'll never survive against that!".
I've only ever seen that series dubbed, so I'm not sure what the sub says.
The sun just has the ruling where you can’t attack you opponent directly, but you also have to have at least one monster on your field when your turn comes up, otherwise you lose seemingly

“Toon table of Content” was actually a main deck Sky Striker card in the TOS and TOSS format. The reason was that it can be used to fill the graveyard with 3 spells, and you can also add “Toon Cyber Dragon”, which can be used to contact fusion the Cyberdragon fusions. This is especially relevant in Master Rule 4, which makes it so that players can only special summon extra deck monsters in Extra monster zone or to the zone a Link monster points to. The meta at the time was basically lock both EMZ so the opponent cannot play Extra deck at all.
Before that, it was in early Judgment Book builds as well. It was three extra searches for Spellbook of Judgment. That and an extra three levels, made summoning High Priestess way easier if that’s what you needed

A good retrain i think for toon alligator would be giving it the effect if its used to summon a toon monster it can count as two tributes, thus getting the 7 and 8 star toons out easier.
I mean, if we wanna make it really good, have it be able to Special itself from the hand if you control Toon World and no non-Toon monsters and then, the turn it's Summoned (Normal or Special), you can Normal Summon 1 Toon monster in addition to your one Normal Summon and also have it count as two tributes for the Summon of a Level 7 or higher Toon monster (not just Normal Summon, since Blue Eyes Toon and Manga Ryu Ran count as Special Summons).
toon monsters are generally not tribute summoned though. usually people use toon page flip
You can definitely tell which finalist Pagasis wanted to duel… he had toon versions of half of Yugi's best cards (at that point) while others like Kaiba only had one.
Might as well mention this, but there's another Equip Spell that while not part of the Toon Archetype, it has Toon World in it's art, and that is: Shine Palace (or Bright Castle if you played Stairway to the Destined Duel)

Fun fact: The original first japanese printing of Toon World was a bit different. It said pay 1000 lp to play it, then pay an extra 500 lp each standby phase, and if Toon World would be destroyed, you regain the lp used to pay for it.
The toon structure deck was the very first one I ever bought. I was just a wee baby in elementary school and was winning against my friends left and right because of how dirty they used to be. I hope they start supporting the toons again 😢
For a deck with as much search power as Toons have, you'd think it'd be a lot more consistent than it is. But the reliance on Toon World and all the good monsters being high level makes it a chore to really get anything going.
Another issue it faces is a lack of card advantage generation at will. So many decks these days have easy +1s and more. Toons have to work for it. If I were Konami, I'd start with solving these issues first.
I wish the earlier Toon Monsters weren't terrible monsters. Not only could you not summon them if Toon World isn't on the field, but they could not attack the turn they're summon. The only effect that I didn't mind was needing to pay 500 Life Points in order for the Toon Monsters to attack, as they can attack your opponent directly, provided that they don't have a Toon Monster themselves. I mean, if you have a 3000ATK monster that can attack your opponent's Life Points directly, while they have other monsters on the field, of course that monster's gonna need a maintenance cost. And needing paying 500 Life Points to inflict 3000 to your opponent seems like a fair deal. Although, having the requirement to pay 500 Life Points to attack an opponent's monster is nonsensical, especially since they can't on the turn they're summoned.
And yes, it is true that most, if not all, the Toon Monsters couldn't attack the turn they're summoned, but big difference between the newer Toon Monsters and the older ones is that you could summon the newer Toon Monsters at any time, even if you don't have Toon World on the field. Plus, many of them had additional effects that can benefit them in battle.
Maybe a new Toon continuous spell, call it Toon Errata or Toon Addendum, that basically removes the effects limiting attacking the turn they are summoned, the LP cost to attack, and maybe something like them banishing any non-Toon that battles them in addition to battle protection (and as an added bonus, have Errata/Addendum act as a pseudo-Union card and block anything that would normally destroy or remove a face-up Toon World on your field by popping itself instead).

the fusion monster bikuribox, the monster illuminationist-faceless mage, and its retrain are supposed to be toon-like monsters as well, and i think flying elephant and dream clown are also meant to be toon-like monsters
Something to add: Toon Page-Flip showcases another card that has a White Castle popping out from Toon World.
That is a reference to an equip card of that has that artwork and I think it supports LIGHT monsters or Fairy type monsters, something like that.
It would’ve been cool if Konami retrained that card to another brand new Toon Field Spell.
I'd love for them to revisit Toon's with a structure deck or something.
And for the love of all that's holy not just reprints of the early cards and cards we've already seen. In order for the archetype to get better it needs more new support.

It's weird, because their S/T lineup is stacked. Multiple free searchers, free Special Summons, one of the most powerful Field Spells. Yet their monster lineup is so bad... they're simply useless

As someone who grew up in a country where nobody can speak nor read English, playing YuGiOh was like going to a wild wild west during the duelist kingdom arc
Im 28 played yugi dule masters (not magic) uno and go fish growing up fell off right before links dropped I loved the synchro era I ran x sabers, psychics, cloudian, koa ki Meru, and my main fire deck I love learning the lore behind the cards this archetype series is awesome I thank you tgs and hope doing this makes you happy and I hope you know are appreciated
The history behind this. My dad is a doctor and he used to work late nights at the hospital. Some nights he would take me with him so we could spend time together. One of those times for my birthday I think he got two of those starter decks, yugi and pegasus. Fast forward 20 years later here I am still interested in yugioh, but mostly playing the digital version
Since the monster universe is a thing in yugioh it's safe to assume that the toon monster world exists as well. It would be really cool to get a yugioh movie in that kind of setting. You could have a plot where kid pegasus is transported there and has to use toon monsters to save the day. It would be a neat way to get new toon monsters into the game.

I would love to see more toonified monsters. Aside from toon signer dragons and odd eyes i think maybe having toon dinos, toon god cards, maybe some popular old strong decks get one like toon spyral, sky striker, etc. It'd be neat

And Bickuribox, it was a cartoonish monster that never got "Toon-ified" as you put it and Pegasus used it to land the finishing blow on Kaiba by pulling a Scythe out of its mouth and slashing Saggi to pieces while cackling like a maniac
I love Toon Monsters. And I absolutely love that they were the point monsters of the "boss of the first story arc".
Personally, I would love it if they introduced some new "Neo-Toon" monsters in the future.

My 1st toys-r-us tournament win (my TRU had a 6 yugioh boxes prize and had one when a new set came out) was with a deck i called “Movie-Toons”.
I used the movie Pyramid of Light cards and the toon cards, it was broken as I could go from no field to 2 3000 atk and a 2500 atk and set up toon monsters
And the amount of complaints about using scapegoats to tribute for toons (there tributes for a special summon not a tribute summon)
Essentially Pegasus' Toon monsters were Disney's Mickey Mouse + WB's Loony Tunes mixed into 1, so as LK put it: Japanese Animation vs American Animation. As such: regular monsters can't touch them
Ever since discovering the updated look Pegasus was given in the GameBoy game Reshef of Destruction, I really wish that he had come back in the anime at some point with it to style on a main henchman of that season's villain and toonifying a previously unbeatable ace monster. Maybe he could even have added Kuriboh into his deck after learning just how good it truly could be from Yugi. Y'know, a character arc.
I hope we get more toons based on the spinoffs and some extra deck ones

Fun Fact : In the game of Eternal Duelist Soul, Pegasus used Toons to do some of his fighting, but if you used Toons too and Pegasus went to attack, you’d soft-lock the game because he wasn’t programmed to attack monsters, only directly…. Also the game added a tax on Toon World where you’d lose 500 life points each turn until Toon World was destroyed and you’d get the ‘taxed’ life points back.
Here’s some ideas for what cards they should toon-ify if they ever decide to give the Toons Extra Deck Monsters:
1) Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
2) Master of Dragon Soldier
3) Dark Paladin
4) Cyber End Dragon
5) Decode Talker
6) Borreload Dragon
7) Goki the Great Ogre (the Gore would probably hate that as much as Kaiba did)
I don’t think they should go beyond that because then we would also need to get Toon Tuners (that’s a tongue twist) if they did synchros and both Toon Xyz monsters and Toon Pendulums sound broken!

I'd love some more toon monsters , like Gaia, Dark Magician of Chaos, Flame Swordsman, Exodia, the God Cards and the Legendary Dragons.
I always found it quite jarring how Pegasus's whole deck theme changed drastically when he took Yugi to the Shadow Realm. I assume he changed decks mid duel which I guess he is allowed to do given he's the creator of the tournament. Then again this was the same man who used his millennium eye to look at the cards in his opponents hand so all rules and logic went out the window I suppose XD
I wonder if there will be any illusion type toons.
If Toons get a second wave of new support, I hope we get some or all of these:
- New continuous spells (and maybe also traps) that count as Toon World, in a similar vein to how there are cards like that for Umi. Maybe have them based on different pages of Toon World?
- More Toon versions of cards, especially lower level monsters (Toon Giant Rex and a Toon version of one of Weevil's bugs come to mind, or maybe proper Toon Versions of Rabbit and Alligator could work too) and maybe some extra deck monsters (Ultimate Toon Dragon anyone?)
- Retrains of older Toon monsters that, at minimum, remove them being destroyed if Toon World is destroyed. As for further effects...
-Summoned Skull: Could give it a once per turn destroy a monster with equal to less than its atk, as a riff on Makiu the Magical Mist.
-Blue-Eyes: Perhaps make it send monsters it battles to the graveyard at the end of the damage step, as a riff on Ultimate Creature of Destruction (seeing as Toon Kimgdom covers a lot of that card's other effects)
-Mermaid: Given the flavor text of the original being "A mermaid archer that hides in a protective shell, waiting for the right moment to strike.", maybe give it a debilitating effect upon dealing battle damage to an opponent?
-Ryu-Ran: Definitely the hardest, as even the flavor text is fairly unhelpful. Maybe it negates the effects and/or lowers attack of monsters that attack it because it "looks harmless"?

We need actual toon retrains of Dark Rabbit, Toon Alligator, Parrot Dragon, and Bikuri Box. All Toons without being toons. Manga Ryu-Ran should get an errata that always treats it as a toon monster, like Summoned Skull with the Archfiend one

Another interesting fact about table of contents is that in its pages it states "God" which implies that pegasus potentialy had a toon version for the god cards

Pegasus' deck has a lot of similarities with Sora Perse's from Arc-V. They both have childish cards as well as nightmarish ones. A duel between them would have been interesting!
Speaking of Pegasus having the only Toon World in existence, I remember seeing a Kaiba starter deck at Walmart as a kid and (being like 6 at the time) I took the show serious when it said only a few Blue Eyes White Dragon cards existed in the world and I BEGGED mom to get it for me because of that.

Kaiba was a full on antagonist in the beginning of the manga. Theres even an arc where Kaiba designed a Saw like theme park designed around killing Yugi and his friends

They could make a retrain of manga ryu ran, toon alligator, dark rabbit, and parrot dragon to better align with the archetype while also updating the archetype to the latest meta. More negation, more early game tribute fodder for your bigger toons, ect.
Not related to this but I thought I might bring this up if you’re interested. You spoke in the Yusei vs Jack duel analysis vid about the lack of extra deck variety. I thought that If you want to analyse a duel with extra deck variety, I recommend doing “Was Ai about to beat Playmaker?”. Why? Because Playmaker used exactly 15 extra deck monsters in that duel and could he have finished the duel quicker or lost if he played certain link monsters at a different point in the duel sooner or later. Plus, it’s one of my favourite Vrains and ceremonial duels.

the saddest thing is, Toon Harpie Lady doesnt count as Harpie Lady while on the field or in the graveyard, so she doesnt get harpie support... but at least she still count as a harpie card or harpie monsters...

I play solely toon cards in Yu-Gi-Oh master duel an i love it. Bookmark is absolutely essential to summoning toon kingdom. Red eyes and dark magician always feed monsters or traps to the field. Nibiru with shadow toon card also is a very good otk
One of my old-time favorite archetypes Yu-Gi-Oh decks.
I really wish Toon to become a viable deck because as it is right now, it's very unstable. Such a fun deck to play with nonetheless and Pegasus ofc being the first main villain to use such uncanny monsters is pretty cool.
I think one interesting way to get more Toon support is for there to be toonified cards of the monsters of other participants in Duelist Kingdom. Cards from Weevil, Rex, Mako, and Bonz would probably be the most ideal candidates (Para, Dox, and Panik wouldn't make sense, since they were hired by Pegasus).
Toon-ification was a fun effect in the show limited by its screen time. The only way to really do it justice would be to specify archetypal effects as separate from unique effects on cards, and most players already think in those terms, anyway. It is a hindsight solution, but since most if not all early toon monsters required toon world on the field to exist, the archetype could have been worded a bit differently.
"toon world: pay 1000 life points. cards with 'toon' in their name are always treated as a special summon (and does not take up your normal summon), but require the same amount of tributes. any card with 'toon' in its name gains the following effect(s): this monster can attack directly unless the opponent controls a toon monster." From there, each toon card only needs 2 effects: "this card cannot be summoned unless 'toon world' is on the field. If 'toon world' leaves the field, destroy this card." (this archetypal effect description would then be printed on any toon world retrains, along with the modified effects like costs or protection. it would not need to be printed on monsters since they cannot make it to the field without some sort of cheat or the central card with all the archetypal effects already on the field.)
With the archetype fully errata-ed, it now opens the way to adding card effects that steal opponent's monsters and treat them as toons, all without the need to print unique toon monsters for every archetype in the game. There could be a card that steals a monster, negates all its card effects except those applied by its new toon naming (with minimal cost), alongside ones that steal the card without negating its effects (for a higher cost like equip spells taking up a board space from more reactive backrow), as well as addresses the overcrowded text blocks that plagued toon dark magician girl.

Now that you made this video, they're going to release more Toon support in the form of a structure deck or being the face of the next set.
I’m still surprised they haven’t made a Toon Relinquished/Eyes Restrict or even Toon Extra Deck monsters

Magic Ruler was the first time we got Toons, it came out before the Pegasus deck. Source: I was there, Gandalf, 3,000 years ago.
One Piece’s Luffy basically becomes a toon monster himself with his Gear 5, or Omni Gear; whatever you want to call it.

Wow, never seen some of the cards of this Archetype; yet it was really nice to hear about it;
My theory is after Kaiba lost his Shadow Game to Pegasus, he quietly picked up Mokuba, got in their Blue Eyes White Dragon Jet, quietly without speaking a single word flew all the way back to Kaiba Corp, and then Kaiba went to office, took a deep breathe, Sat at his desk and said to himself "I am changing the entire rule format of this game."
You notice how after Battle City ended no one went back to the format of how Duel Monsters was played before? Took World was nothing like how it was portrayed during the peak of Duelist Kingdom which leads me to believe that after Pegasus lost Kaiba demanded his original copy of Toon World be destroyed and in exchange he'd have a more "balanced" version of Toon World as seen in the Dartz Arc and later GX when Pegasus duels Crowler and Bonaparte.
Toon World is only perceived as broken until it suddenly dawn on Yugi "Oh wait...it's a field spell. I get rid of the Field Spell and Toon World stops being a problem." Yeah there were a lot of questionably stupid rules in duelist Kingdom most of which from Joey not knowing the first fucking clue how to play this game
Fun fact: Because the word in Toon Rollback's text is written as toon and not "toon", it can't be used on Toon Alligator. If any words are in quotation marks " " , then it refers to words in the card's name. If not, it refers to words in the text box.
Easily one of my favorite archetypes, complete with the always epic Pegasus/Toon World theme!

Out of curiosty, i could be misrembering, but doesn't the Shine Palace equip spell have toon world on its card art?

Plus, both Pegasus and Ziegfried (and Leon) had an absolutely broken card that was one of a kind.

Blue eyes toon dragon was one of my absolutely favorite card.
Hmmmm… Odd-Eyes Pendulum Toon Dragon would be adorable.
Fun fact, while no official card exists and this match was only for show at tournaments, Pegasus technically Toonifed the Wing Dragon of Ra. If you look up the Pegasus vs Marik scripted match they did for a tournament in 2015, that is how Pegasus won and it is hilarious to think Pegasus who was so afraid of the power of the Egyptian God cards could technically counter them by turning them into Toons in a duel.
I recommend looking it up for anyone who hasn't seen it, along with some of the other scripted duels. Love the Joey vs Kaiba one mainly because of Kaiba's instant disgust when Joey with pure luck managed to have Psychic Shockwave to summon Jinzo the moment Kaiba played Crush Card Virus.

If toon world ever succeeded in anything it’s inspiring absolute hatred to anyone fighting against it in the anime I mean seriously of course kaiba hated the fact Pegasus made a mockery of blue eyes but to hear yugi say the same thing for his stuff feels enlightening to say the least
Im surprised you didn't mention Toon World's ORIGINAL effect in the OCG before it's release in in the English TCG. Originally it had an upkeep cost of 500LP per standby phase, and when it was destroyed it would give you back half the LP you had spent on its upkeep.
